Honestly, this whole section of the Guild is for general discussion, but if you've got something to say and can't be bothered to make a whole new topic for it, feel free to drop it here!

Laughing because I suggested a general discussion thread but don't have much to say at the moment.

I was a bit bummed to see Gaia say they don't have any plans for adding / changing aquarium fish.

And while I guess I believe them about the long compile times I kind of wonder what has changed. I mean, go back three or four years and Gaia was introducing new fish, changing stats on existing fish, changing versions of the boot grab game and so on. How come they could do it frequently then but act like they are unable to do it at all now?

There wasn't a whole lot in the 11/24 ATS that interested me.
It also seemed kind of short compared to some other ones.

It had more pages that the last few, but there may have been fewer answers...not actually sure of that offhand, but Narumi did mention at the end that not as many Staff members attended as usual (something about needing to put as many hours as they could into working on the Thanksgiving and Christmas events, I guess?) That might explain it.

Oh,yeah, maybe the holiday thing.
Or, less "Thanksgiving" and more "BLACK FRIDAY SALE". LOL!
Ka-CHING!

Don't know how many pages because I rarely ever go to the real thread.
I much prefer your summary threads to skip over most of the BS and the comments that never got responded to. I don't really care what users asked. I care what staff answered. And no offense to any ATS posters here. I just mean that with millions of users you can find all manner of requests and opinions but the info on what is actually going to happen is more likely to come from the staff replies.

Words fail me. eek eek eek

OMG $20,000 for a Saphire Ticket??? Is that a typo??

No it isn't- the Sapphire Ticket is actually $20,000. However we have made it available to win through the Black Friday 2k14 Grab Bag and previously in Generators.

It does make sense to me that they would price the Ticket sky-high. They were offering it direct from the shop, non-limited, so absolutely anybody who had enough Gaia Cash during the sale period could cause one to exist on the site, and as many times as they had the Gaia Cash for. If it were more reasonably-priced, the artists would become swamped with waaaay too much work redeeming the huge number of Tickets that would be bought. Also, a Sapphire Ticket creates an item with over two and a half times as many poses as a Golden Ticket, so it needs to be even more rare and valuable than one.

...still...as people have pointed out in the GCD, that's the price of a new car. emotion_jawdrop Pixels should never be worth that much.

That is more than just sky high. That's more like somewhere between low orbit and the moon.
Sure, I can see not making the item cost $10 or $20 but even $1,000 would have been quite high and kept them from selling hundreds of the item.

Also, as I understand it, once the item is made, Gaia still gets to sell the item right? So basically Gaia is getting paid twice to have their artist(s) do the work. $20,000 up front plus how ever much GC they can rake in over the life of the item.
Or am I mistaken about that?
Either way, the artist should be able to draw a lot of poses for $20,000.

I tried to look up more details on the Sapphire Ticket.
I didn't find much technical info on what you get but I did find a lot of very scathing Site Feedback.

You can find info on how Tickets work in the subforum devoted to them, the Project Custom subforum of the GCD. Stickies in there hold the official FAQs for each kind of Ticket.

The Sapphire ticket lets you make a brand new Evolving Item that will have a total of fifteen poses over the course of its six-week evolution. You can write the story that appears for your item in Dr. Singh's Friday EI Announcements, too.

Thanks.
Looks like they need to update their FAQ if you can buy one for cash.
Q. Where can I get a Project Sapphire Ticket?
A. Sapphire Tickets are only able to be won as a rare drop through the item Project Evolving Item.

So, basically someone would be paying $20K to get to be art director for an EI and get 25 copies of the item. Which breaks down to only $800 per item.
Such a deal!

If I had that kind of disposable income I can think of so many better ways to spend it.

As usual, thanks for saving me time.

Much of this week's ATS was the usual, "Can we have an item that looks like (this)" type of questions.

This one stood out to me though:
Is anything actually going to be done with the zOMG rings beyond giving them a sell back value of 0.5 gold?

There are no plans currently at this time, but we're open to hearing suggestions!

So, I am not too concerned about zomg items one way or the other but I do have a lot of zomg rings. In previous staff comments there was mention of allowing us to sell them back. I thought, "Great! I'll at least get some gold for them".

But 0.5 gold each isn't a sell back.
That's more like a trash item button with an extra bit of insult added.
IMO if they were just going to give us the option of deleting them from inventory they should have said that and not mentioned sellback at all.

This morning one of my daily chance rewards granted me 500,000 gold.
So... yeah. I'd only have to sell back 1 million zomg rings to equal that. LOL

PS. I do have a suggestion about what they can do with their zomg rings but it involves shoving them somewhere. smile

Actually, no amount of zOMG Rings can equal that. Unlike most items, zOMG Rings are unable to stack in any inventory display; I assume it's because each one carries different Charge Level info. So it's impossible to sell more than one at a time, meaning that 0.5 Gold is always going to round down to 0.

Yeah, I'm holding on to all of my zOMG Rings in case they do end up doing something non-stupid with them.

Well, I haven't tested how Gaia handles it but .5 is considered a round up in most situations. At least that's how the IRS instructions go.
But even if they rounded up, I'm not going to click on sell a million times even if I had that many rings. smile

I was mainly highlighting the absurdly small amount.
But if Gaia truly gives you nothing then why not just a trash it button.

With each passing week it seems like ATS is evolving into "Ask the Staff about Items".

Maybe folks have just given up on asking about new site features and fixes / updates to games and such.
It seems like the majority of questions and answers fall into a few categories.

"I'm experiencing a glitch that is stopping me from spending cash"
"We're working to get that fixed right away!"

"I've already spent my money but I have some problem with what I bought"
"File a ticket"
"We'll look into it"

"I want an item / recolor / reissue"
"We'll consider it."
"Not at this time"
"Interesting idea"

"I want some part of the site changed / fixed to make it better"
"No plans at this time"
"We'll consider it"
PostPosted: Tue Jan 27, 2015 10:18 am

Well, as far as what questions people are asking, remember that when you look in this Guild you're only seeing the questions that actually got an answer.

It seems like with each week, less and less people read the first post or follow the format. gonk I feel they should remind people in the staff notice when they advertise it. Maybe add an FAQ post or if we could get the guild known enough for them to link it there. whee
