Gregory finished sun-drying and put his clothes back on. He smiled once again, feeling more refreshed than he had in a long time. With a brief hop, he took off running once again, heading for the ferry.

Kit walked through the beach, though now there was nothing to do now. He was really bored, noone seemed to be here.

They both walked to the ferry, hopefully there won't be any car around to crush it, or any reckless drivers anyway.

Above the high tide mark, the sand began to shift. Slowly, what could pass for an oddly-shaped rock began to protrude from the beach. It appeared to be conic in shape as it inched higher, though nothing in particular could be seen; sand clung to it as if it were wet, obscuring any markings or colorations. As suddenly as it had started, it stopped, now nearly two feet high. A low rumbling could be heard, though the source seemed to be unknown...

It was probaly when he felt more resistance than there should have been that he actually noticed there was no more boardwalk.

"Ah... no, it shouldn't be any further. What about your bird..? Is it going to be ok?"

The harley continued riding along the beach, albeit not as fast as it could possibly go with all the sand laying everywhere.

Owle Isohos
"I thought you were going to help me, not try and kill the people trying to save me!"

"I'm... sure your birds still alive..."

He was trying to find the words he knew he had in him... trying his best to just carry on with the conversation... but this man... this man's fire was dimmed to the point of being completely snuffed out.

A jerk, fool, crap mercenary.

Just what the hell was he doing out here.... what the hell was he doing at all?

"Huh?"

He felt the sharp squeeze of his side as Alex spoke into his ear.

"I don't feel anything... you sure you don't mean the engine?"

Her rear was practically above it after all.

Complying with her insistent request, he slowed the bike down and stared around.

No one barely around, not this late... he turned his head to the side and stared out along the shoreline.

Yellowed eyes scanned for any person... when he felt the slight rumble again under his feet.

"The hell...?"

He found himself staring at what Alex was pointing to... a spike or something... jutting out of the beach.

Pushing forward, he rode the bike on closer at her request.

Honestly... he just wanted to keep going to the ferry.

As the vibrations from the motorcycle radiated toward the rock, all rumbling ceased, and a deadly silence fell. The only noise was the sound of the sea crashing onto the sand a few meters away. Not even the few seagulls present dared mew their obnoxious calls.

Though, they did still fly above the passing vehicle and try to aim for its riders, as is their sport.

In all honesty at this point he didn't even flinch as he was crapped upon.

He probaly deserved it, yet he could feel Alex cringe away and already fuss over it. Luckily she hadn't been hit at all.

It was just his hair and a bit of his jacket anyway.

Although as his bike slowed to a crawl, he did notice that when he placed his right foot onto the sand, he couldn't feel anything anymore.

"I don't know.... stay here."

Getting off the bike, he stamped his foot onto the ground.. testing it probaly, before looking towards the strange rock formation.

Beaches were usualy flat and nicely kepy sparse... so people could just set up shop and lay about or kids could go play and build sand castles.

This thing just being there seemed to defy beaches in existence everywhere. He turned his back to the rock, and looked at Alex, while digging out seagull s**t from his hair.

"S'just a rock."

Suddenly, the beach around the rock erupted and sand went flying in all directions. Kira had used her favorite tactic of burrowing deep into the sand until only her head lay just below the surface. Just like a spider, really, only this particular carnivore was about sixty feet long.

A six foot long, shockingly blue, spike-covered head perched atop ten feet of heavily armored neck emerged from the ground; a mid-sized dragon intent on a snack. While the flying sand still obscured her for the most part, she lunged toward the closest target with a deafening roar.

Unfortunately... the closest target would be him.

He barely had time to register anything as sand went flying behind him, and the noise coupled with Alex's sudden scream forced him to turn his head and a bit of his wait to glance behind him.

Normally... it might have been said that it was unfortunate for the... thing... that he was the closest target.

But as of now... and considering the kind of mental shape he was in... it was unfortunate for Vahn.

He'd be frozen to the spot, yellowed eyes widened as the creature's form became outlined for the most part.

Amid Alex' screams to move away, he found himself unable to.

Why...! Why can't... I just...m..ov...e...

Kira chuckled to herself as she saw what passed (in her book, at least) for fear in the morsel's eyes, and quickly moved to close her powerful jaws entirely around it, intent on returning underground. She tried to avoid puncturing anything just yet, as she liked to play with her food before tearing it to shreds.

The last thing he heard were simply screams, even as the dragon closed it's mouth around him entirely, apparently aiming to swallow him whole.

"!?"

His right arm was shaking uncontrollably, and he fought so hard to just reach behind him and pull free sword and sting the mouth that tried to eat him.

Move... for god's sake... ********... MOVE!!

But all he did was stand there shaking, a cold sweat breaking out over his body.

This.... This is so...

All he could keep remembering were Owle's words. And everytime he heard them his chest throbbed harder.

...retarded...

His eyes were glossed over, dull and lifeless even as his body was suddenly surrounded by warmth and a wet sensation, as well as extremely rancid breath... or however a dragon's mouth was supposed to smell like.

...Sorry.

...Vahn? The mental voice was hopeful, anxious even. There was no trace of anger in it, only hope and uncertainty. It was Owle's voice.

She had no idea what was going on, what was happening to him, why he was sending her that message.

Morsel in check, Kira ignored the screaming thing on the ground. She wasn't hungry enough for more than one at the moment. Snaking back underground to a safe distance, twenty feet or so below the surface, she began digging toward the sea. The sand closed nearly perfectly over where she had been, leaving hardly a trace of the attack. As she dug, she moved her tongue so that it would press her snack to the roof of her mouth, for safekeeping until later.

Alex had all but fallen to her knees, pounding the ground with her fists.

She didn't know what else to believe... let alone what to do.

All she could do.. was simply stare at the sand, nothing but a swirling indentation left where Vahn had been swallowed up, which ebcame perfect again.

It's over!
I'm really gonna die!
Really!

He could feel the pressure that the tounge was exerting on his back, all but squishing him against the roof of it's mouth.

What am I doing?

Why did I freeze?

All my realizations came to this?

Too embarassing-
This is just too embarassing.

I am...
Too foolish to the point it cannot be saved.

His mind screamed out, even as the feeling in his muscles began to fade away.

Owle
...Vahn?

Owle...

No... not just her.

Sierra.

Sunstrike.

Silver.

Shouyin.

Alex.

But...

When there wasn't any response, Owle got worried. Really worried. She began to try and delve deeper into his mind, to see through his eyes and find out what was happening to him. There was...pain. Lots of pain.

Vahn! Whatever happened, it's alright! I forgive you!

She didn't know what was happening, but if he was going to leave this world, she wasn't going to have him leave it thinking she hated him.

And for all she knew, he might well be dying.

Vahn, please, speak to me! What's happening to you?
