Fighting was the only thing keeping his mind off what they were actually doing, allowing himself to dissociate just enough to keep moving. He let Tracey lead him, let the fallen angel dictate where their hits should land. There was an instant where he had a foxfire attached to his leg by its teeth.
That moment ended with the foxfire detached from it's head. He hoped it wasn't anyone's pet.

He already had more than his fair share of bandaids on, but it was like pouring oil into a car. He was just guzzling the stuff. He put B0ne'z main blade against his arm and pulled the trigger, feeling the brief jolt take him almost to full of his regular shield. But he was still at about half.
He was trying not to think too hard about Killer.
So close to the Blue Kingdom, death seemed closer too.

All around them the warped minipets still rampaged, attacking anyone unfortunate enough to cross their path, backed up now by the shadowlings, the hunters could be forgiven for feeling like they were making no difference at all.
Everything, every moment, attack, assist, even every movement itself seemed to draw to a strange long note, unfulfilled and unsatisfactory, as if something was missing. And perhaps something was, but for those fighting they had long forgotten, sucked into this strange spiral of dream - or was it?
The next second passed, another shadowling, dissipated. Silence again.
And once again they retreated, as the air itself seemed to buzz, to whisper something. Words.
- C...... M..........N...................-
They were gone, replaced by a single, black crater that appeared from the ground. A crater that revealed a massive head first, easily several feet high, followed by a pair of claws, antennae, beady yellow eyes. It lumbered slowly, shaking the earth with each step, more interested in gouging everything around it than just its assailants.
What can be destroyed will only come back stronger

Harrison seemed to make up his mind. His expression was steelier than usual.
"Allan gave us orders. We can't let the facility get wrecked," he told Rep. "They'll go after the pods. The weapons. And once they're done with the facilities, they'll move on to us. We got to hold the line."

Once again relief was short lived as the bulk of the army of shadowlings seemed to recede. He didn't even dare to hope it would be permanently, learning his lesson from the last time. Instead he braced himself as best he could.
This time they seemed to have gotten their act together in the shape of one big b*****d. It was impossible to get close to the big guy with the minipets in the way though.
Harrison got a momentary sad look and a nod. "Aye." It hurt to say it but there really weren't a plethora of other options right now.
Taking another deep breath he sought out that perfect moment of focus, exactly the way he had before.
But something was different.
Shadows slithered across the surface of Tracey like black tendrils and it looked like he could have been charging a heal instead of an attack. When he was completely enveloped, something seemed to change. He lost the consistency of metal, became nothing but shadows, twisting and fracturing, lashing out like shapeless talons.
Rep smirked, charged and swung, the blade snaking out to its full length, moving around him as he spun, harmless as air, but striking the shadowlings with all the force it was capable of..

There just was no end to these things. Not only that, but they were getting worse and worse over time. Deryk let out a sort of weak whimper as he saw the new creature emerge from the shadows. Why were they evolving? What was even going on here?
While he was panicking a little internally, he slapped Solia with a bandage.

The creatures were looming, and for a moment, Jerry wondered if he was still asleep, that this was all some exhaustion related hallucination. One glance to Harrison and Rep's faces at the sight of the bloated, shadowy versions of their beloved pets... didn't quite clarify one way or another. "I don't think there will be coffee for a while," He managed before suddenly a massive black claw swung out at him, sending him tumbling.
With a yelp and a snarl, he rolled onto his knees, aiming at one of the less familiar looking monstrous pet with a fresh massive blast.

"They're... not really what they look like!" Jerry shouted in Harrison and Rep's directions. It had to be like... whatever had possessed Harrison and the others... an illusion to seem person, to be hard to attack. At least that's what he assured himself as Roar purred with gathered Fear, his quills trembling and eyes blazing with green- the energy ripped forth, stronger than Jerry was ever used to with a force that sent him tumbling.
He wished his legs didn't feel like they were made of rubber this early in the morning.
And he hoped he was right about the creatures.

Fending off the creatures, and trying to buy some cover for others was harder then it looked. She had no idea how moon hunters managed to pull it off all the time, but it certainly wasn't her area of expertise. Not to self: never transfer to moon division. She was sure all the hunters would be relieved to know that, what with her fine example of failing to cover Jerry well enough. "Sorry, I'm really not good at this."

"I don't want to hear that coming from you." He half groaned. He was sure he had heard Dakota' come up with a few terrible puns and it was better not to get started on his pick up lines. That aside...
As if shadowlings weren't enough, amongst the chaos, there was yet another threat. Only from something least expected.
"Minipets?" Ryan supposed he should have been surprised at the sight of the minis taking on a monstrous form. But he wasn't. After all, who knew what had been done to them during all this time within the labs. For all he knew, they had an overdose of Fear and their bodies had been affected. Either way, he had no personal attachment to any of them. They were merely another target to be disposed of.
"Here!" Noting the fresh wounds on Jerry, Ryan quickly applied a new bandage before clearing the way again. The nightmare-ish minis were fewer in number now, but the among them was still that one shadowling. Which meant the fighting was far from over yet and he wasn't keen on getting caught in the cross fire.
"I dunno, you've been doing pretty good, considering your from an offensive division." He gave Kat a half smile, shrugging. "Could be worse."

"You're... you're doing fine!" Jerry smiled weakly to Kat as Ryan quickly patched him up again. This was working- a quick move from Dakota and the massive Minipets were no longer their problem. For now. He glanced back to the trio of confirmed-owners with pursed lips before his attention was abruptly brought back to the massive yellow-eyed demon lurching over them.
"Just keep it up, guys! We can do this! This is nothing!" He barked, half in attempt to keep his makeshift team alert, half to assure himself he wasn't about to be eaten.
Stay in the moment, Roar warned. We'll rip it's throat out and I 'aint having you go loopy on me before that happens.
The weapon was raised again. Breath deep, make your shots count....

Since Kat and Ryan were playing the role of moons (odd for a sun to do so) Dakota took on Kat's sun role and started to decimate at the boss.

The moon trainee came to a scrambling halt when he heard her name, having missed the death trainee in all the chaos. At least Zanth hadn't missed.
Jason was of course quite thankful for Deryk and his quick footing and extra bandages, but not so thankful for his weapon pointing his lack of protectiveness for his girlfriend.
He quickly ran over to rectify this problem, wrapping on a good dosages of bandages (probably more then he needed to, and dam he was tyring his best not to cop a feel at this point he really was), before he was off yelping as shadowlings chased after him.
