Batsu kept walking in the pack as he stared off towards the flame ahead. It would be nice if everyone picked up the pace though.The sooner the destinatioon was reached, the less walking had to be done. But with Masaraku leading the way, there was no telling what would happen there. Heaven forbid if it was just a checkpoint to an even longer trail. Oh dear god, no. Batsu started to grumble at the thought of that.

Gin smiled as he got slightly irritated. The girl was blue and that wasn't attractive and yet she was so cocky. Why would she possibly think he'd take it, blue people weren't attractive. He wasn't into those Avatar sex scenes or anything, he liked regular people. So when he looked at someone like a Hoshigaki female even if they weren't ugly for being blue, he saw them as he did a girl who was chubby or had some inperfection. "Hoshigaki, you're walking a bit to far out into the sea. You can't swim that well." Gin said as he insulted her being a Hoshigaki while telling her that she should watch herself. That she shouldn't confident or she'd potentially sink like a rock.

Tenshi was about to talk back, but stopped like the woman said. "You are right, and I apologize." He was going to apologize to Gin, but decided he did not want to at this point in time. If he would, the words would mean nothing more than the dirt below him, and now he was starting something with the Hoshigaki. Did this kid know any boundaries? Surely his pride and arrogance would kill him someday, unless he would learn. He shook his head and continued following along.
He was amazed at the accomplishments of both ninja and couldn't wait for the day he would have some experience under his belt. All he had right now was some training at the academy. It was hopefully enough to keep him alive for the time being, but he wanted to know and learn more. This was the perfect opportunity for it and he was glad to have snuck away for it.

As Masaraku approached the torchlight a furious snort sounded out as two large boars lumbered forward. A slightly smaller boar between them. At their side were several backpacks that had been torn apart and what used to be a canoe.

Seiko entered her small bedroom and shut the door behind her. Talking to her father didn't really seem like something she was up to doing that day. The two had eaten in silence while her aunt stayed in the kitchen and cleaned up dinner's mess. Seiko wanted to try and help, but every time she offered, it was always met with a half-hearted smile that said 'you are too young to do this now go play child'. It irritated her. The young girl turned her attention from the door and laid her eyes on her much desired bedspread to find a letter sitting on her pillow.

The window was open. When had she done that? Pushing it off as perhaps her father or aunt opening it to air out the room, she walked over to the bed and opened it. It was an invitation of some sort. Immediately upon reading it, the child began to feel the hair on the back of her neck raise. A smile touched her lips for but a moment before she looked back towards the door. Would she be able to get out in time to join this thing? Sounded like fun, that was for sure. If she hurried, she would probably be able to make it on time.

If only her family went to bed soon. Or at least left the living room so she could get by in time. She didn't want to waste all her time just waiting. There was the possibility of going out through the window, but they were on the third floor and unless she grew wings or a pair of cat claws that wasn't going to be happening. Seiko wasn't as adept at being all ninja like the rest of her village seemed to be. There was no way she'd be able to live through a fall like that. At least not without harming herself pretty well. Or bad, depending on the way you wanted to phrase it.

Walking to her door as quietly as she could, attempting to be sure that she didn't make the floor squeak like it normally did when she got up that close, Seiko pressed her ear to the wood and listened. The two adults were still out there. The sound of dishes being washed was evident, and from the sound of coughing her father was making, he was still at the table puffing a cigarette like he always did. That man was going to cough up a lung one of these days.

The sound of a chair being moved back was a signal to the girl it was time for her father's goodnight ritual. Running back to her bed as quietly as she possibly could, she threw her shoes off to the corner of her room and rushed underneath her covers. Attempting to hide any clothing that might be revealed, she closed her eyes and feigned sleep. The door opened only a moment later, the light being cast from the other room landed right on the girl's face. Footsteps were heard before she felt a large hand rest on her shoulder. A pair of lips touched her forehead and she heard the familiar deep masculine voice of her father.

He wished her good dreams and to sleep well. He also told her he loved her. It was the man's ritual of begging her forgiveness for being unable to protect the rest of his family in the past. He still blamed himself for it. Seiko, by this time, couldn't understand why he didn't do his best every day that he could instead of reliving the past every night when he sent her to bed. It used to be that he would come in with her mother to do the ritual, and she was always able to hear them in the next room as they did the same thing to her brother. After which, she would promptly hear a small knock on the wall to inform her that her parents had left his room. At this point, all Seiko was wondering was how long he would stare at her 'sleeping' tonight.

The Sazanari knew that after he did this, he would go to the bathroom, and then head to his own room. Her aunt slept in the same room as the man, but they had a removable wall between them to give privacy. The woman was the one who offered this idea. She said that Seiko was young and would need more privacy at her age than the two adults would need the rest of their lives. So, the male agreed. Begrudgingly, of course.

The light on her face faded, and so did the foot steps down the hall. So far all that was left was her aunt that was still cleaning away the dishes that her father and she had made. She hadn't eaten yet, so Seiko would need to wait for her to finish up with that as well before she got the chance to leave. The child was nearly jumping in her bed as the door of the bathroom closed down the hall.

So, her father was doing his stuff. All she needed to listen for now was another sound from the bathroom door to tell her he was out and headed to his room, and to hear the woman stop her washing and eat her own food. If it was as she hoped, the woman would then clean what little dishes she had and would then promptly go to bed as well. This little timing was agreed upon and done every night between the adults. It gave her father plenty of time to change and get into bed before she walked in so nothing vital would ever be shown to the other.

Seiko whispered to herself as she listened while still curled up in her bed, the day's clothes she had worn still attached to her body. If she wanted to make a quick get away, all she would need would be to put her shoes back on and high tail it out of the house. It would be pretty easy, only hard part would be keeping the floor from creaking beneath her feet as she tried to get to the front door.

Seiko was starting to get a little more anxious as the seconds ticked by. It seemed like an eternity before her father opened the door of the bathroom and walked down the hall to enter his shared bedroom. Seemed like the adults were taking their sweet and luxurious time doing what they were doing while the girl was stuck in her bed doing absolutely nothing. She needed them to hurry it up or she was going to miss out on all the fun.

Speaking of, how long had that letter been sitting on her bed? Seiko was aware she arrived home late that night, having done a few errands for her aunt in town along with a little lallygagging along the way. The child enjoyed looking at the small shops and seeing what type of jewelry and little trinkets they had that day. Seiko enjoyed little cute things. Especially little animal decorated items. Kittens were her favorite. Perhaps the letter had been there since she left home that morning? If so, she was going to be far too late to do anything interesting. If it was only there for an hour or two, it would probably give her a little leeway.

Hoping for the second in her list of possibilities, Seiko heard her aunt begin to sit down and eat her dinner. It was roast that night. Something the Sazanari preteen wasn't very fond of. But as her aunt put it, it was 'good for a growing child to get some protein. It does help the muscles after all.' Seiko didn't like being told she should eat something just because it was supposed to be good for her body. Even if it was, it was still gross to look at. The flavor was not all that bad, but the look of it, it just looked like something someone took out of the public toilets.

Soon enough, the sound of a chair moving, and feet shuffling told the girl her aunt had finished her supper and was about to do her dish and go to bed. The young girl decided it was best to start getting herself ready to go if she wanted to be out of there as soon as the older woman closed the door to her shared bedroom. Sneaking across the room, she sat on the floor and started to put her sandals on. A creak outside of her door made her stop, frozen in an odd sensation of fear that she would be found out.

Why was she scared? She could easily just say that she was going out for a little stroll to clear some bad thoughts. The older woman would probably just let her walk out the front door. But that wouldn't be very much fun if she did that, so she decided against it. Seiko would do the much more entertaining thing and try to be true to her Shinobi ways and sneak out with nothing more than her own amazing talent. The child had a knack for sneaking out of the house without her family knowing.

Seiko used to do it back then too. Back when the rest of her family still lived with her. Shaking her head to clear her mind, she raised her hands to her pigtails and tightened them a little to make sure that they were going to be fine on the way to the outside of the village. Last thing she wanted was for one of them to fall out or become loose and look all sideways and strange. If there was going to be someone there to greet her, she didn't want to look like she just rolled out of bed to find the note they left.

It was a tad stalkerish that someone had randomly left a note on her bed though. If they were able to do that, what else could they have stashed in her room? Shaking her head again to clear the random thoughts that seemed to be striking her more often than normal, she raised herself from the ground and walked towards her door. The footsteps that had gone by were long gone now and all that was left was for her to reach the front door and be out of the house for the night.

Seiko didn't want to screw up and open the door and someone come walking out of their bedroom again, so she stood next to the door for a moment, making sure to breathe slowly so she wouldn't miss any noises. The sound resonated sound very well so it was easy to tell when someone was climbing out of bed or not. And as far as she could tell, nobody from their room was doing such a thing. It was silent. So she made her move. Opening the door centimeter by tiny centimeter, lifting up to be sure that no extra weight was being put on the hinges, the girl opened the door and stepped through. Going over the creaky board that lay just before her door, she continued on. So close. All she needed now was to get past the living room and through the doorway. It was all rather simple as she creeped her way up to the front door and swiftly released herself to the outside world. Not to find her target.

It was simple to find the spot indicated and she noticed a few other people were there as well. She hadn't had any difficulty getting to the place and decided to keep to herself a bit more than she normally would. If these guys were here from the same letter, she would be learning about what it was they were there for soon enough. Seiko was aware of the Bloody Mist trials that used to take place. Her father had been sure to remind her of them every time anything relating to Shinobi this or that came up in conversation. It was his way of attempting to deter her from her chosen path.
