She felt another lump of warmth being set beside her, and immediately pulled the little lump that was Orchidkit closer. She nudged their little bodies with her nose a couple times, biting back hot tears. Too mournful to notice her dead son being taken for vigil, the once fearless, stoic, and arrogant Tigerfang was reduced to a sorrowful heap.]
Curling her tail around her two remaining kits, she whispered to them in an uncharacteristically meek voice, "Promise Mama you'll never be hurt...promise me..."

[Orchidkit mewled when she felt her father's jaws pick her up by the scruff, confused as to what was going on. But she was soon met with her mother's warm underbelly, and she instinctively curled up next to her. She suddenly wasn't hungry anymore. The feeling that penetrated the nursery seemingly took her appetite away.]
[She then felt her brother Runningkit beside her, and expected to feel her other brother beside her, but was disappointed. Where did he go? Mama said something quietly, but Orchidkit couldn't really understand. She mewed for her other brother repeatedly. He might get lost!]

Alone, don't surrender, surrenderxx   [Sacredkit glared up at the medicine cat but didn't say a word. He had only been trying to help! Sighing, Sacredkit watched the scene before him silently. There were lots of cats in the nursery and they all seemed to be consulting the family for their loss. Loss. Loss was a bad thing, death was a bad thing. He ahd heard a cat mention StarClan earlier and he snorted. If StarClan was so great then why did they let a kit die? A newborn kit. Didn't they even think about letting him stay? Letting him live? If StarClan was as great as cats said then why weren't they able to stop a kit form dieing. They should be able to do that. They should protect them, not just let kits die! Sacredkit didn't even acknowledge his father and refused to move. His gaze rested on Orchidkit as she began to call for her lost brother. He felt sorrow for the newborn kit. She didn't understand what was going, she just knew her brother wasn't beside her. Slowly, Sacredkit padde dup to Tigerfang and lowered his head slighty.]
"I'm sorry for your loss," he mewed quietly to the queen.
[The tom's tail was lowered as was his head as he heard Orchidkit cry out. The golden kit turned his gaze toward the fluffy orange she-kit and padded over to her. Slowly, he laid down next to her and pressed close to her, trying to comfort her. StarClan did this. They let Slatekit die, they caused this pain. How dare cats call them great, they couldn't stop pain nor could they stop death. They simply accepted it. How could accept something that caused so much pain? Sighing, he curled close to Orchidkit, hoping his pressense would calm her slightly. Sacredkit knew he wasn't her brother, that he probably smelled different, but he wanted to help the newborn kit next to him in anyway her could.]Why can't I breath, evil angel?

[Feeling something slightly bigger sit next to her, Orchidkit turned her head in its direction. It wasn't her lost brother, but she climbed on top of it (Sacredkit) anyhow.
Sensing its aura and feeling its warmth, she deduced it was another cat. She mewed once more, pressing her little white paws into the fluffiness below her. Maybe this cat knew
where her brother was! The little orange kit shakily walked across the squishy fur, and got to where she think was the cat's head. Finding it quicker than she expected, she stumbled slightly,
but regained her balance after a few tries. Orchidkit mewed loudly, calling out for her brother.]

[Puresun rushed into the nursery, eyes wide. She quickly checked the nursery, eyes narrowed. It was too crowded to shove through, plus that would be rude.]
So she merely called, "Foxfur, Lavenderstar needs you in her den. Now. It's bad."
[She flicked her tail, turning around to lead the deputy to Lavenderstar's den. Although she could understand the medicine cats' desires to keep her away from the sickly leader (and knew they would try to make her leave), Puresun intended to remain outside her mother's den, waiting anxiously for any news.
This might be Lavenderstar's last life. Nobody knew for sure, but Rabbitfoot had a certain look on his face that he hadn't had when Lavenderstar lost her previous lives; it was a grim, knowing look. Puresun saw that look and almost instantly knew that Lavenderstar had no more lives left.
This was it.]

He smiled up at her as she mewed. He smiled as the kit climbed across him and felt one of he rpaws land on his face. He was tempted to pull back but couldn't bring himself to do it. Instead he smiled and his eyes watched the kit carefully.]
"I like this one," he mewed ot no one in particular.
[As Orchidkit mewed, Sacredkit pressed his nose gently against the golden kit's soft fur. He mewed softly and nuzzled her gently. He could tell she was still worried about her brother but Sacredkit wasn't sure what he could do. Her eyes were still closed, like his had been, and sacredkit wasn't sure if she could hear anything.]
"Don't worry, your brother is in a good place," he mewed calmly.Why can't I breath, evil angel?

[Jasperkit jumped when a grief-stricken howl filled the nursery. Her fur fluffed out even more and she scampered over to her mother.] "Momma, what's wrong?" [she asked, turning her brown eyes up to her mother. Though it was instantly forgotten when Rainblast left.] "Daddy!" [she called after him, taking a few stumbled step after him. Though, when he left she went back to her mother.] "I'm bored," [the little tabby she-kit mewed, absently pawing Sungaze's tail. It seemed that none of her brothers would play with her and all the other kits were either too young or uninterested. A loud and long sigh escaped Jasperkit as she rolled onto her back, pawing the air.]

She swung it back and forth teasingly and picked the brown tabby up.] "We are going outside. Lets go." [She meowed softly to her kit. The queen laughed softly as he kit pawed the air. She past by Rainblast and flicked her tail, telling him to follow with the other kits. She didn't want to leave any of the litter behind to annoy the family.] x

He wanted to stay here with Orchidkit and comfort her. The clearing could wait. His gray eyes stared up at the kit on top of him and he smiled. There was no way he was going to leave the nursery.]
"Mother, I'm going to stay here with... Tigerfang's daughter," he mewed, realizing he didn't know the kit's name. "Don't worry I'll be good."
[He glanced toward Tigerfang slightly, not wanting to move around much with the golden kit on top of him. He didn't want Orchidkit to fall off and hurt herself just because he wouldn't hold still. Hopefully when she opened her eyes she'd want to play with him still.]
"Tigerfang, what is her name?" he mewed, indicating the kit on top of him.Why can't I breath, evil angel?

[ Olivekit muttered, his pelt flushing with embarassment. He looked up at his father, still slightly irritated, but admiringly. ] Starclan gave me the best parents ever! [ he thought. His father was the deputy and his mom - well - might've been an ordinary warrior but he sure loved her ways. ] Super kick-butt, [ he thought, flashing a paw out. He pretended to be Mudnose slashing at an opponent. ] Seriously awesome, [ the siamese tomkit thought. His pelt fluffed out in horror as a nearby queen started wailing. ] What happened? [ Olivekit thought, looking around with wide eyes. From his position, he couldn't see anything. Only the big cats. Though he could tell it wasn't good. He looked at his sister when she spoke to him. He got to his paws and padded away from his father, pressing his side comfortingly to his sister's. ] "Don't worry." [ he reassured. ] "I promise I'll stay safe. And I'll protect you too." [ His love for his sister was something that would motivate him whenever he needed it. ] I promise, [ he thought. He gave a nod to his father when he left and stayed next to Autumnkit, giving her neck fur a grooming. ]

Sighing, he said] "Alright Sacredkit. But If I hear that you made so much as a paw step of a wrong move. You'll be in trouble. I'm trusting you here. This is a chance to prove that you can be trusted. Be good." [The tabby warrior bent down and licked his son on the head before padding to Goldenkit. He bent down and picked her up. [Autumnkit serious gaze faltered by her brother's sweet affectionate act. One of her rare small smiles shown as she replied, licking her brother's ear sweetly.] "Thankyou Olivekit.... I don't know what would happen to me without you... it's just that... all the sadness... I think I head that our leader died not to long ago.... Father is going to be leader... the best one ever." [Pride and determination glittered in her bright yellow brown eyes as she listened into the grief outside the nursery, she felt awful but hid that weak emotion with a guarded prideful expression.]
"So get out of the way. Now."

Come back... she thought forlornly. Don't leave me...
[Hearing another a different voice ring through the air, she looked back to see who it was. The queen looked upon another little ginger kit with bleary, watery emerald eyes. Sacredkit, wasn't it? Yes...Rainblast's and Sungaze's son.]
[Normally, she would've told the kit to scram, but now that she was a new mother, she smiled sadly at the ginger tom-kit. It even gave her a little comfort as she looked at the slightly older kit. She put her tail on the little kit's head for a moment, then curled it back around her own kits.]
"This is Orchidkit..." she said, sniffing and trying to sound normal.
[She looked down at her mewling kit fondly as she picked her up by the scruff and set her down in front of Sacredkit. Orchidkit merely mewed once again and craned her neck towards her mother.]

[Eaglesoar ducked his head and squeezed through the entrance of the nursery, padding towards Tigerfang. He uttered a comforting purr as he nuzzled her lovingly, before giving both his kits a quick lick on the head. "How are they doing?" He asked gently, eyeing Sacredkit for a moment. Instinctual protective urges made him want hiss and send the kit away from his daughter, but seeing how Orchidkit seemed to enjoy the ginger kit's company, he decided to let the matter be. "I don't know if you've already heard, but...Lavenderstar's just left us to join Starclan." He tried to break the news out to her gently, not wanting to frighten her. Two deaths in one day, two close ones being taken away from both of them, one being their own flesh and blood. "They're preparing to bury Lavenderstar now...if you want to bring the kits out and pay your last respects?" Of course he would understand perfectly if she didn't want to, it might come as a bit of a shock and shock wasn't good for a mother with kits. "Foxfur should be naming a new deputy soon." He meowed quietly as he gazed up at the night sky. Foxfur would have to name a new deputy before moonhigh, and he couldn't help but wonder who it would be. Of course he would love to be deputy himself, but he knew many cats thought of him as hot headed and too ready to solve problems with fang and claw, so no doubt he was an unpopular choice. RUNNINGKIT [Runningkit squeaked when Tigerfang pulled him close. He purred though, happy to be close to his momma. Runningkit stretched his face up and stuck out his little tongue to lick her cheek, but ended up just reaching her whiskers. He tilted his head curiously, making him fall over. What was she saying, all he heard was a few meows. So, he resorted to just placing a paw on Tigerfang's cheek. As he kept a paw on her cheek, he attempted to nuzzle his head into her neck fur. Runningkit let out a squeak when his father licked him on the head, but he didn't move from his spot. He mewed and started purring, loving the warmth his momma gave him.] Momma

She immediately felt loads better, and lent up to rub her head underneath his chin. She opened her mouth to say something, when the news of Lavenderstar's death hit her ears.]
[Tigerfang clenched her jaw and looked up at the sky, willing her tears to sink back into her eyes. Two deaths in one day? She couldn't understand why StarClan would do such a thing. NightClan's beloved leader Lavenderstar, who lead the Clan with such grace and nobility. And Tigerfang's beloved son, who never even got to see the light of day.]
StarClan, how could you? she thought bitterly.
[A little paw reached for her hands, and she purred as she saw it was Runningkit. Her bitter and sorrowful thoughts seemed to dissipate slightly. as she started to groom her son's head. She then looked back at Eaglesoar and gave a shaky sigh, nodding her head firmly.]
"I shall go pay respects to her...she took me back when I had abandoned my Clan...it is only the least I can do..." she said seriously, but her voice bursting with silent emotion. She got up and stretched her limbs, then nuzzled her kits lovingly as she cooed softly, "Come little ones...let us go pay our respects to our leader..."
[Picking up Runningkit by the scruff gently, she looked at Eaglesoar and motioned with her tail to get Orchidkit.]
