November 7th journal entry. Dear diary:
The kids found Zah after he'd gone missing. By the kids I mean Yashima and Kishi, it was perhaps the only thing those two will ever do togeather but atleast Zah is safe and grown. Of course having seen the state of his mother he may never be the same.
Then again niether will I, I've seen some badly mangled bodies before and while Neveah's can't compare to some she's still a mess. A proud mess though because she fought for her son's life and won. No matter what she may have though of herself before she must admit now that she is an amazing mother.
I would write more but anger and pain are still my main emotion and one can only let them fester so long before they take over. A logn shower, a movie with the girls and some quiet time with Ianna will hopefully return me to normal.

Nov 20th PD with zah ( babysitting).
Zasalamel looked calm and collected on the outside, but on the inside, he was nervous. He hid the fact he as fidgeting by playing with Duke, his albino deer-like younger brother. Duke's normal coloured twin, the spotted brat named Prince, was busy staring into a nearby mirror, one placed there for that specific purpose. On the couches slept a humanoid unicorn baby and a spider-guardian child, both children that were not Neveah's but still currently under Zasalamel's charge.
Why was the tall Drow surrounded by babies? Well that was easy; Neveah had gone for her last surgery, and SOMEBODY needed to watch all the little ones, especially since Verwin, their housemate, had left for the day as well. The guardian of the spider child had gone with Neveah to the hospital, as well. Luckily for him, Neveah had called Malen and asked if either himself or Kishi would like to help the Drow babysit for the day; so all he had to do was wait for someone to show up, and so far he had everything under control. Two brats slept, a spotted brat entertained himself by being a narcissist, and the albino brat was trying to get the blindfold that had been tied around his big floppy ears off of his head, much to Zah's fidgety amusement.
Kishi ran down the side walk at full speed, her shoes made thwapping sounds on the grey pavement with each step. She was training and that meant endurance like trying to jog and run most of the way from the headquarters to Zah’s house. It was grueling task but she was managing, weeks for training with her father made her stronger each day. Someday she’d be strong like her father and then maybe she’d have someone of her own to train.
For today though training would end when she reached her friend house which was only a few feet away. slowing down to a jog Kishi grinned. It was always good to see Zah especially now that he’d grown even though he was now huge compared to her. In what she had decided was no tradition Kishi had brought a handkerchief full of cookies tied around the end of her wand.
Walking up the driveway Kishi wondered what it might be like to baby-sit, she’d always been the youngest in her house and she’d never been alone with little kids before, all the wand children came with parents. Shrugging she knocked on the door and waited for her friend to reply.
Hearing the knock (actually, he first heard Kishi on the front patio, before she even knocked), he wrapped his arm around Duke's stomach in such a way that the boy was doubled over, holding the little boy against his hip like that; Duke didn't seem to mind, since his little tail was wagging and his hard, pinkish hands were still trying to get the red blindfold off. Besides, he didn't really know how to properly carry a deer infant; this worked anyway. As he approached the doorway he wondered if it would be alright to leave the other babies in the roo; and that thought made him more nervous.
"Echk, Keyshee!" He greeted cheerfully as he opened the door, unaware that Duke was still furiously pawing at the blindfold around his ears. "Ehn?" He asked in his heavilly accented, brutal english. stepping aside to let his friend into his house. Backup was here, yay! "Lauts Baybeeh~" He informed her, just to let her know what she was getting into.
Kishi stared at Zah for a moment taking in the sight of them and the baby he was holding. She’d never seen anyone carry a baby that way before but as long as it wasn’t fussing there probably wasn’t any harm in it.
She grinned at her friend before replying to him while stepping into the house . “Hey Zah I brought cookies again I don’t think babies can eat them but that’s ok.” She wondered how many babies equalled a lot to her friend. “ Lot’s of babies is good, then there are more to play with.” Kishi briefly wondered if she liked babies because she was a girl or because she was raised by her her father who adored children. “ You’ll have to tell me all their names.”
Zah brightened at the mention of cookies, but there were more pressing matters...like...the babies. He didn't think having many babies would be fun, but that was either because Drow men never ever interacted with infants, or because Neveah didn't really adore them to the point of fawning over them, but she was getting better. When asked to introduce them, he shifted the albino fawn so his hands were under the boy's arms but on his torso, showing the pink-eyed boy to his friend. "Dook." He said as best as he could. At the same time Zah said his name, Duke got the blindfold off of his ears; and though he hadn't realized he didn't know Kishi, he showed her the blindfold proudly, his disproportionate ears and his tail wiggling and wagging in excitement.
The Drow then set the happy albino infant on the ground on his rear before moving to close the door behind Kishi. Once he was down, Duke made grabby hands for Kishi, now thinking Kishi was his mother. As an albino, he had poor eyesight; so he saw wings and connected them to Neveah; he tended to forget she didn't have wings anymore. If Kishi didn't pick him up, Zah would; and either way, he guided Kishi to the living room where all the other babies were.
"Pureence." He pointed at the spotted deer-child at the mirror. "Mehteez" He motioned to the sleeping spider-child, obviously taking great pains to neither look nor point directly at her. "Teerahna" He could point at her, but not look at her; and like the spider she was sleeping.. He made sure he got them all; Duke, Prince, Metis and Tyranna. "Lauts Baybeeh." He said again as he nonchalantly swayed his weight from foot to foot.
Kishi figured out what Zah was saying easy enough and smiled at Duke and his antics with the blindfold. When he reached up for her she couldn’t deny him and swiftly scooped him up before following her friend.
She mentally frowned at Zah’s seeming indiffernce to the female babies , she hoped he’d never treat her that way if he ever thought of her as a girl. Still on the outside she smiled while humming to Duke. “ Lots of babies but not too many , two babies to each of us.”
He wasn't indifferent; he didn't look at them because part of him enforced that he shouldn't, that it was unwanted.
"Lauts baybeehs..." Zasalamel insisted with a nervous smile, hooking his thumbs in behind the belt that was around his waist. "Naught uhndurstahnden' howh tu deel w'it baybeehs." He admitted sheepishly, one arm raising in a rather fidgety move to scratch at the side of his dark neck. Absently, he prodded Prince's diapered butt with his bare foot, making the spotted brat look over his shoulder, then subsequntly fall onto the still extended foot in a futile baby attempt at a pin.
Duke was staring wide-eyed at Kishi now. Now he knew Kishi WASN'T his mother, and he was both confused and upset at this. Once, he broke his stare to look at his funny-talking dark skinned brother. It was quite an acomplishment to make his funny-accented brother calm around a girl, and since even the Drow was comfortable with her, Duke decided he would be too. The first thing he decided to do after his newly discovered comfort with this girl, he tried to cllimb over her shoulder in an attempt to pat at her funny wings.
Kishi smiled there had been a lot of babies at the headquarters in the past so she had vauge idea of what to do though she was no expert .” Let the girls sleep and when they wake up we’ll feed them” she said firmly. Babies slept and ate a lot , that much she knew, she just hoped Zah knew how and what to feed them. Her grey eyes scanned the sleeping forms but didn’t see any sign of them getting ready to stir.
Kishi kept a firm grip on Duke thought she let him clamber about on her, as long as she kept him from falling there shouldn’t be a problem. “ Be gentle Duke” she warned though she couldn’t remember is babies understood people at this age or not. Her memories were a bit fuzzy about that time in her life.
She laughed at Prince’s attack “ You teaching him to wrestle?.” Kishi was mildly aware that Zah was speaking english much better these days. she was happy with that fact but decided she still should try and learn undercommon so he didn’t always have to speak english.
"Jugare, Gud ideeah." Zasalamel thought about it for a moment, wiggling his toes into the soft-fur on his younger sibling's stomach, consequently making the spotted brat squeal with laughter. "Matron lehft gide en fud prepahren pulace." His last few words were sheepish. "Furgoht wurd...." He admitted quietly. As always, the Drow spoke slowly, to both ensure he pronounced it right and to ensure his companion understood him. "Nehd hehlp tu reed." He muttered under his breath, sheepish over the fact he still had a long way to go. He bet Kishi could read just fine!
Duke didn't understand, but by nature he was fearful of everything. So he touched Kishi's wing first as if he were testing to see if it were hot or not...and then he put his pinkish, hard hand on it and pet at it, making sure to not keep his hoof-like appendage on the black thing for too long.
"Mehbee." Zah chuckled softly, slightly lifting his foot when Prince grabbed his ankle, suspending the boy in the air, though aside from his legs, the boy had the black foot to rest his belly on, to keep him up. "Dun thynk Preence beh gud feyeter." He shrugged a bit, staring down in confusion when he felt the younger boy bite and tug on his pant leg. Yeah, deer-like fear missed this one by a few thousand miles.
Kishi smild softly at Zah “I’ll help you read it, Deltaught me to read , it’s good to have older siblings,” she paused. “ I’ll teach you and someday you can teach duke and prince to read”. Kishi liked the idea of helping Zah learn things especially then she could make requests of him in return “ Will you tech me to read and write like you normally do?”
Duekes touch was gentle and didn’t bother Kishi so she let him continue his actions. He was a very cute baby and she supposed that if she ever had a baby someday she’d want him to be like that.
Kishi snickered at Zah’s second set of words and Princes’s subsequent response . “ I think he’s a good fighter just not right” she frowned at the baby deer “ No biting, biting is not fair.”
Zasalamel brightened again when Kishi offered to teach him to read. "Rehlee?!" He said excitedly, partially twisting his torso to better face her. Somehow through this, he still managied to stay balanced on one foot without fumbling. He had amazing balance for a kid. "Thenken youh, Keyshee!" Against what the Drow part of his mind screamed, he wrapped his arms around her shoulders for a big hug; he still hadn't shifted off balance, either...even once he let her go. "Jugare, Zah teech Keyshee Ilythiiri." It seemed like a fair trade: English for Drowish.
Of course, Prince didn't understand Kishi, but her talking managed to stop him. He just stared up at her as though he'd seen her for the first time - which was true - and waved his brown and white tail. A pretty girl! A pretty girl who could pay attention to him, too! He reached out for Kishi, forgetting he was balanced on Zah's lifted foot. Of course, he didn't have his funny-talking brother's balance, so instead of grabbing Kishi, he fell headfirst off of Zah's foot, landing on the carpeted floor with a thud. Shaking his head, Prince pushed himself up and plopped hisself back down on his diapered rear, pawing at his snout with his hard black hands. "Dun tink Preence es cahreng~" Zasalamel said with a chuckle and a shrug.
Duke didn't have any balance either, so after a moment or two of pawing at the wings, he started to slide off of Kishi's shoulders and back down her front; it didn't seem to bother him, his infant instincts told him he'd be caught. Instead of wailing, he let out a giggle, much like his spotted twin on the floor
Kishi wondered if all the smiles and giggles were why her father and she loved babies so much. She wondered how anyone could not like something that was always so happy and playfull, they were like kittens only people shaped.
The joy she’d been feeling multiplied when Zah took the initiative to hug her, normally she tooks the first steps in their friendship but Zah was apprentely really comfy with her theses days. And again she was happy as he accepted her offer . “ I can’t wait to learn, “ She looked thoughtful “ Should we feed them all togeather or two at a time.” Kishi wasn’t sure she could handle feeding two babies at once.
She eyed Prince and laughed “ you are just as cute as your brother and probably more trouble. Maybe because Prince’s are higher royalty then Dukes.” Kishi wasn’t certain if that was possible but one never knew.
Kishi might've been happy hearing a little one giggle, but it always confused Zah: He'd done a lot of giggling, sure...but he didn't remember any of that now...it was all really fuzzy. All he did know was what the Drow in him said; and that was a happy infant is an undiciplined infant...so a child's laughter always confused him. He ever said anything though, as it was never a male's place to help with child rearing. Of course this was also why fathers like Malen or Onuris confused him.
Under normal circumstances, he wouldn't have hugged her. But as things stood, he really, REALLY wanted to be able to communicate with everyone else, properly. That was really why he hugged her; he was happy someone other than Neveah offered...he couldn't expect Neveah to help right now anyway, it would be rude of him to demand that of her, what With the surgeries and all. "Lehmeh noh wen Keyshee whish tu starrht." He said once he let her go.
Prince knew he was being talked about, so his black hands stopped moving, but they stayed on his snout while his impossibly large brown eyes stared up at Kishi. His little tail was wagging again, and his whole rear end seemed to wiggle slightly right along with it. Duke yawned, nuzzling his white snout and pink nose into the side of Kishi's neck...and then if on cue, both twins started to whine lightly.
"Matron gehve Preence laybel frohm Bambhi." Zasalamel scratched his nose at his words, pretending he didn't forget the word 'name'...then he motioned to the DVD of Bambi that sat on top of the TV. "Dook's laybel frohm nehxt surfayce wurld royahltee" He tried to explain it as Neveah had explained it to him, but somehow he figured he didn't do it justice. Well...at least he had tried. When the twins started to whine, his purple eyes widened and he looked at Kishi.
"Huhngree?" He asked her, as if she would know. Really, he was useless when it came to kids.
A baby whinging almost directly in her ear was not something Kishi enjoyed. Still isnt’ duke fault that he was hungry, well she hoped he was just grungy anyways because if it was ’ that thing” Zah was on his own she was here to baby sit not baby change. She nodded “ Let’s go to the kitchen and see what we are supposed to feed them.” she eyed the too children still sleeping as long as they stayed quite they should be ok alone for a few minutes.
Leaning down, Zasalamel picked up Prince. The tall kid tried to hold the little deer like Kishi was holding Prince...but he failed miserably, and instead had one of his lanky arms wrapped around his younger brother's back and the other under his brother's diapered rear, holding the baby against his chest that way. No matter how he held his younger brother, the tall, lanky Drow looked awkward...even his eyes could tell anyone he wasn't comfortable holding a baby, even though he really wanted to.
When they reached the Kitchen, Zasalamel motioned with his head to the paper on the counter. "Frohm Ilhar." He informed Kishi, standing nearby so he could look over her shoulder while she read it. The paper was just a list of the things they might need; from where the diapers were to how long they should sleep, to how much food they should eat. More importantly though was what they ate, and all Neveah had to say for that was 'For any baby, take one of the bottles from the fridge and put it in the microwave for 45 seconds.'. Simple.
Kishi read the list to herself first then repeated the food portion to Zah, if they needed the other information later she could tell him that then. " I think I can hold both babies while you get the bottles and heat them" she offered. Partially she wanted her friend to look less out of sorts and partially she wanted a chance to hold the more active and interesting Prince.
Zasalamel nodded when she read out to him, turning Prince around and holding him out like he'd held Duke out to her when she first showed up. Once she took him from her, he got the bottles out, and did just as Neveah and Kishi told him too.
Prince stared up at Kishi. This was the girl who was complimenting him earlier! INSTANT Good book, right there! He wiggled happily, licking at her cheek and generally acting more canine than deer. Duke had gone silent and still once Prince was on this Kishi girl, and he seemed to be trying his best to turn invisible: this was hard when you were as white as he was. Unfortunately, Prince saw him.
As the microwave beeped signaling the 45 seconds were up, the introverted Duke gave out a loud, whined cry when the happily wiggling Prince hit him.
Kishi who’d never been licked by anything other than kit before had been a bit surprised when Prince had started tasting her. Of course according to dell back during easer she’d dome around licking Easter eggs so who was she to talk. It was cute thought and made her smile “ You are far too cute, I wish I could keep you, I haven’t got any brothers.” Kishi decided then and there that she was going to demand a brother for christmas.
She was forced to take back her word only a moment later when Prince decided his brother was for hitting.. She frowned and narrowed her grey eyes at the boy “No prince no hitting or …” she was at a lost for words and looked at Zah for help for a suitable punishment.
Zasalamel didn't know what Christmas was either; Neveah hadn't gotten the chance to explain it yet.
Apparently Duke crying didn't phase him; he was even surprised when Kishi turned to him, wanting him to finish her sentence. Instead of answering her, he just took Duke from her and handed her a bottle. "Preence lyke het Dook...Ahlweys het Dook...." He said quietly after a moment, wiggling the n****e of the bottle into Duke's mouth, like he'd seen Neveah do time and time again. "Dook het bahk tu, sumtymehs. Ilhar jus' sey sthop." Really, Prince always hit Duke, no matter that Neveah said. It was always only Duke though, and neither of the twins had ever hit Zasalamel, Tyranna, Verwin or Neveah.
Prince stared at Duke as he was taken away, then stared up at Kishi...only to hear Duke drinking fro the bottle. When he heard that, he wiggled in Kishi's grasp, trying to nab the bottle she had so he could eat, too. It didn't phase him that Kishi had tried to punish him.
Well if this was normal Kishi supposed there was nothing she could or should do about it. Shaking her head and mimicked Zah’s motions with the bottle. She’d never fed anyone with a bottle before except herself and that seemed so long ago. Unable to stay mad long she soon smiled down at Prince “ Someday you’re going to grow up big like your brother, just not too soon I don’t wanna be the shortest all the time.”
Kishi wondered if being a Drow contributed to Zah’s height or if it was something in this house or if maybe he’d just dreamt himself really big. She knew that for the longest time she’d been bigger than Zah and then he’d catch up and she’d get bigger again. It was possible that it was his turn to be big now and she’d catch up eventually.
Mind straying to a previous though she looked at Zah “ Christmas is soon, what do you want as a present?” Malen had told Kishi if christmas and she was determined to get all her friends presents, even Yashi who was only a sort of friend.
Prince only stared at Kishi, his disproportionate ears twitching on occassion when she spoke to him. He didn't know what she was saying...but she was talking to him. And Feeding him. He liked her. A lot.
Zasalamel had managed to find a way to hold Duke that let him feed the boy...without it being too terribly awkward. He was concentrating on that when Kishi started to talk about Christmas. Wait. What? The Drow stared at Kishi like she'd grown a second face right infront of him. "...Wut ees thaht? Creestmahs?"
Kishi smiled at her clueless friend, not that long ago she too had had no idea what the holiday was."Christmas is the holiday people made up becuase a special person was born on december 25th. People brought him lots of gifts and things to make him and his parents happy. Now lots of people give their friends and family presents becuase they are the special people to them." Kishi's description of Christmas was a mix and match of what she'd learned and her own personal thoughts. " So what should I get you? only I have to have a list so you don't know which present it will be."
Zasalamel stared at Kishi at first, but then slowly lowered his purple eyes to stare down at his pink-eyed infant brother. Christmas was...because someone important was born and was given gifts? Really, that made no sense to him; but then again, Drow didn't give gifts out of kindness. He stayed silent for a few minutes, contemplating what was being said and trying to piece some sense into it on his own.
"Ah." He said, as if he'd figured it out. But then, what did he want? "Hnn...Ah du noht wahnt eneeting..." He said at length. Really, there was nothing he could think of that he wanted. "Soh...teecheng ehngleesh ees gud puhrehseent." Zasalamel lifted his eyes again to look at Kishi, a thin smile on his lips. "Wut fourh Keyshee puhrehseent?" Well, he figured he should try this alien-sounding holliday!
Kishi spread her wings wide streatching them while she pondered Zah's question. What did she want for christmas aside from a brother.she just shook her head and shrugged " I don't want anything from you, you teaching me is a good gift too."

nov 30th , The people
Kishi hopped out of her father’s truck and pushed the door closed with a wing and bit of extra help from her hand. Soon she hoped her wings would be strong enough to do such a thing on their own, then maybe she might be ready to fly. Waving a quick goodbye she scurried towards the entrance of the Centre.
The building looked rather inviting from the outside and she was excited to be there. Her father had located a Navajo centre on Gaia, apparently people of all cultures really did migrate there. Of course according to her father it was likely they’d moved there to get more respect that they got as natives on Earth. Kishi wasn’t sure why they’d get less respect there but she hadn’t wanted to ask more as her father’s tone had been tense.
So here she was at the centre clothed in a rather simple t-shirt and jeans combination as she walked through the doors clutching a bright blue binder to her chest. There was so much for her to learn and she wanted to talk to as many people as possible. She wanted to know what certain things happening in her dreams had meant, words she had known then and understood in the dream but not now, plus the ceremony and some of the symbols being drawn. Sure books and the net could have told her this but she wanted first hand sources and to hear other's stories.
Upon entering the building Kishi was trying to look at everything at once, some people were dressed causally like her, some wore outfits that she classed as futuristic and others , mainly older people wore outfits close to what she’d seen in her dreams. she wondered who to speak to first and who would even want to talk to her looking as strange as she did. Oh to be sure there were others there that looked odd and several with non human features but they all seemed to be wandering alone.
Perhaps this was a bad idea, perhaps she’d be shunned and discover nothing but that she was bad unwanted member of a society she didn’t even fully belong to. Still she had to hope, after all the Navajo had been shunned and mistreated as well so hopefully they were understanding.
An hour later found her sitting at a table being taught the Dine language with some young children. A pair of women probably in their thirties or forties were teaching them. they were kindly looking and had happily allowed Kishi to Join them after she'd toured the center and talked to a few people. Part of her willingness to do this was to connect with her past and part of it was so she could understand some of the people here who spoke no English but seemed like they had much to pass on.
Kishi had no doubt that it would take her a long time to learn and that she'd be visiting here weekly in the future. She was content to do this though because a part of her felt at home here, a part of her was at peace here.

Holiday decorating Kishi hummed the jingle bell rock as she pranced about a small pine tree that had taken up the corner of her room. She had wanted her own personal to decorate for christmas to keep presents under. Having open in the main lobby would invite disaster considering how many babies tended to crawl around it. Her father had agreed to get her a small real tree as long as she promised to water it and clean up it's needles each day. She'd promised to do so and now she had her tree. She's made cookies to tie to branches and picked out the special light sets for it. After a very long and half fun half stressfull hour of putting on lights, cookies, balls and other decorations Kishi stepped away from her tree content.

Aftermath “ Teach me everything” Kishi said staring at her stretching father. The pair were in a private training centre being loaned to them by a friend her fathers. It was only a day after the headquarters had fallen into the “ In between” and both were back in training. The past day or so of hell had been proof enough that both of them needed to be stronger.(Plus both had desperately needed to be out of the house) While they’d had little chance against the creatures there they both hoped to be capable of doing better defending themselves should something like that happen again. The incident had scarred Kishi, not physically but mentally, she had seen an unknown woman sacrifice herself to save her sister, her father turn into a precise and cold killer ( she knew as his job mode but still disturbed her) and seen her godmother killed and then returned but not quite. ( Not to mention that a great deal of her home had been destroyed leaving) her with a constant reminder of the inicdent.) During all of which she had been mostly useless and shocked.. She had tried to comfort a grieving Zah briefly and spoken a few times but, she had been unable to stay level headed and had sort of broken. She remembered trying to help her sister and Yashi but still she could have done so much more if she’d been prepared, if she’d been stronger. Malen watched Kishi as he nodded “ Fine, but understand it will take time Kishi, a lot of time and everything you were going to learn is still relevant and will still be taught,.” He could seen the pain and guilt in her stormy grey eyes. It wasn’t her fault though, not any of it. Some people responded to fear in different ways, she had frozen and disassociated herself from it mostly until near the end. Although this was less fear then grieving, it was even following the classic steps to a degree. First had been her denial, her zombie like slinking about during the incident, agitated but still trying to be normal and calm as if she could hit a wall shake her head and all would be normal again. She’d skipped anger and gone straight to bargaining in her prayers as far as he could tell from listening to her before she went to sleep the night before. This was both depression and acceptance , she knew this was real and she could not change the past. Still she was also sinking into guilt and misery. Hopefully the workout would help clear her mind and motivate her to learn to protect herself a bit better. Malen couldn’t change his daughter’s natural fear response but it was possible for her to overcome it in time. He was not ashamed to admit that as a child he too had been the freezing sort and it had taken years of training and experiences to change him into the man he was today. Of course Kishi was not dealing with school year bullies and the occasional burglar or robber. What his daughter was facing was far more frightening and Malen could only hope she would learn to deal with it soon enough. Kishi nodded and started stretching, she knew she had a long way to go. She’d only dreamed herself big a few months ago and started training then. Of course then she’d dome it to be like her father, strong and brave. Minus the hypnosis training of course, that was from her dreams about her succubus powers. They tied in together though since she needed to meditate and clear her mind to focus on training as well as to learn to focus her mind to hypnotise people. She made a mental note to switch off during her training, she’d worked on her hypnosis abilities and study succubi when she didn’t train with her father and vice versa. It meant she’d have little free time but it also meant she’d never be caught so useless and unprepared again.( Though a tiny part of her remembered she’d been willing to fight to protect the babies if nothing else) Her mind now was all focus , all training and the future but she had not forgotten the past and she knew each time she closed her eyes and each time she slept she’d see things and have nightmares about that had happened and what could have happened. The stretching ended and the two pick up their weapons, from across the room two magically animated dummies entered. They would record the pair’s score as they fought. As the enemy advanced Kishi gripped her wand tight and her grey eyes turned to granite. She would treat every session as if it was real, ever opponent as a potential killer and she would not back down. For a day the wonderful music of the world of life had stopped, there was nothing but the deadly silence and harsh wails that was the in between. Now once gain the world is full of sound but for one child the metronome ticks out a new beat.

Pd Malen& raven , Kishi & Ryvan
Of the many advantages to having a club owner and bartender as your friend, being able to visit during non work hours and still get piss drunk when you need to was currently the one Malen was valuing the most. Plus he could take Kishi with him and not risk leaving her alone in the head quarters. Del was out at lessons so she wasn’t a concern and he’d left Kay with her mother. There was the current lodger there was well but Malen didn’t hold much trust in him yet.
Kishi was somewhat annoyed with this break in their new schedule, while visiting this friend of her fathers she could neither train or work on her hypnosis as it would be rude to ignore the woman. Hopefully she could find something to entertain herself with.
One of the distinct advantages to owning and bartending in a club was that you had all of the day hours to yourself to think about things that were bothering you. Like the child currently sitting on the bar-top wand in hand waving it around and watching the trails of light the flame left.
The child perplexed Raven as did the circumstances that had led to her acquiring the girl. A dead mother but the child left alive? Even she hadn’t heard of many hit men who would do that, and this was obviously a hit, or something personal at least. Shaking her head she let a smile pass her lips as she watched the child, who was now attempting to knock her rum and coke off of the counter.
While Raven was busy retrieving the glass from the little girls terrorization she noted the sound of someone entering the club from the main entrance. “Hey sign says closed a*****e, go find another hole to crawl into.”
Malen snorted at the welcome “ But Raaaaave you love me and how would you feel knowing I wasted my money on inferior alcohol when I can come here and convince you to give me some for free.” Well that was unlikely more like a buy one get one free deal, it kept her from being broke and him from getting too drunk. Hopefully she’d not Kishi behind him and keep him at a decent level. he wanted to drink but he still needed to be a reasonable person even if he was currently not the best influence.
Kishi looking around stared at the baby on the bar top then stared at the wand in it’s hand. she had fuzzy memories of it but she knew she’d seen it before. The woman however was not familiar at all. “That wand and baby “ She murmured transfixed by the moving but unburning flame.
Listening to Kishi Malen let his gaze be directed from raven to the girl he’d dismissed as being a niece of hers. Immediately he recognised the wand but Neph was nowhere in sight. “You babysitting for neph?” he inquired.
Raven grinned at the man, she hadn’t seen malen in far too long. “Get your a** over here mister” Normally she would have hopped the bar but that would have left the baby on her own in the event that she fell and Raven wasn’t quite that irresponsible. Hey eye was caught by Kishi and she grinned “Who’d you knock up Mal?” She was taken aback by the question, Neph… that must have been the mothers name. “Um, nope, you know something about the kid though? I found her maybe a week or so ago dead mother lying beside her.”
Ryvan giggled and waved the wand around some more but sadly she was not yet super coordinated and the wand slipped from her fingers bouncing to a stop at Kishi’s feet. “Mah Wah!”
Malen rolled his eyes “ No one she came from a wand like that girl.” The joy Malen had felt about seeing his friend was sucked away by her next set of words. Neph dead? But why? Were the gods just striking down people to see how long it took him to break. The man was frozen unable to speak or move as his mind tried to comprehend this latest loss.
Kishi bent the pick up the wand feeling sad for the poor girl as she listened, so many children were losing their guardians right now. Was this punishment for their past, were all the unlucky ones bad people before this life. Looking at the baby she found it hard to image such a sweet baby was ever evil enough to deserve this.
Twirling the wand in her fingers like a baton she offered it back to it’s owner.
Seeing that Kishi was there to catch the baby in case she fell Raven launched herself over the bar and made her way to Malen’s side. She had seen the bounty hunter pissed before, and drunk out of his skull, and even crying upset, but never had she seen him freeze, not once in the entire time she had known him. She led him to the bar and sat him down in a chair making certain he wasn’t about to fall over any time soon. “Mal, hun. Whats wrong?”
Ryvan giggled as the pretty girl gave her back her wand. The pretty girl was a nice girl. She reached out to Kishi to be picked up “ Uh!”
Malen let himself be moved and just sort of sat in the chair as if it were the only thing keeping him in this new position.” I.. Neph and Neveah and that place” Orange eyes turned to stare at green. “ In the past week I have seen more hell than you can imagine and now I just wanted solace in some whiskey and beer and all I find is more death and hell.” He closed his eyes “ Gods what about Umbra the woman’s got half a dozen kids between her and Neph and she’s a great woman but she can’t hold her own with them.” When he opened his eyes again they were tired and haunted. “Tequila please, no lime no salt.” He didn’t care what Kishi saw at this point her delusions of a fair world were long since shattered .
Unable to resist the call of a cute child Kishi lay her own wand on the bar and scooped up the baby. “ You’re very cute you know” She said smiling at her “ and probably nicer than some other green eyed babies I’ve met. Wonder if mom would let me trade Kay for you.” She cared for her sister of course she’d rushed to help her when the shade had attacked her, still their relationship was rocky at best.
Raven nodded and moved behind the bar preparing Malen’s drink and passing it to him. She glanced over at Kishi “You thirsty or hungry sweetie?”
Kishi shook her head “I’m ok.”
Raven nodded and passed her a bottle filled with formula, “If you want you can take the baby over onto the stage and play while I talk to your father. If she gets hungry give her the bottle and if she stinks bring her to me since I doubt you know how to change a diper.”
Ryv wrapped her tiny arms as far around Kishi as she could. The pretty girl was warm and soft. Her fingers found the soft tuft of hair at the end of a braid and like all babies would, the braid went straight into her mouth.
Raven walked back over to Malen and hopped up onto the bar sitting next to him, wrapping her arms around his shoulders and hugging him, “What have you and that poor girl been through hun?”
Kishi took the bottle and baby to the stage and sat down. She spread her wings wide then forward encircling them in darkness minus the light of the girl’s wand It was both amusing and good exercise. “ Tell me all of your secrets” She said softly grinning, maybe for a little while if she stayed like this surrounded by light and innocence the world wouldn’t be so bad.
“Hopeless mother hen you are” Malen mumbled enjoying the embrace. It was good to be held by someone strong like him. “ I don’t want to talk about it” he said voice firm. He was not going back into that ever again unless he had to. “ Suffice to say keep Ryvan the hell away from the headquarters until I tell you it’s ok to come by. If the house decides to go crazy again I don’t want you dying as well.”
“Ryvan” She committed the name to her memory, her baby did have a name then. She tightened her embrace on the man “I won’t push you know that luv, but I trust that if it involves her safety you will keep me updated.” She dropped a light kiss on his forehead hoping that he could find comfort in her embrace rather then in a bottle.
Ryvan giggled and pet the leathery wings, they were pretty and they felt nice against her hands! She moved her fingers to touch Kishi’s face grinning as she found the pretty girls skin was even softer then the black things.
Malen sighed and stared into his glass, it was tempting to treat it like a really big shot. Still he was feeling a bit better and he supposed he didn’t need it as bad as he had. He wasn’t giving it up just yet but he’d wait and see how this visit played out before he decided what to do. “I’ll let you know everything I learn.”
Kishi was amused by Ryvan’s explorations of wings and face. She’d been a bit nervous when the girl had touched the membranes of her wings but there had only be soft pets no jabbing or grabbing that might damage them. “ You are far too cute Ryvan” she said repeating the name she’d heard.
Ryvan’s fingers made their way into Kishi’s mouth as the girl spoke to her. And her other hand continued to play with the braid.
Raven held him tighter and slid off of the bar so that she could hold him properly after sliding into his lap. “What can I do to help you two hun?”
Kishi nibbled on the fingers just to see how Ryvan would respond. she hoped the girl’s hands hadn’t been anywhere too disgusting before they went in her mouth.
Malen relaxed it was like the old days, he’d come in after a piss poor day and Raven would curl up with him and try and make the world spin properly again. It was something they’d been doing for years and was mainly platonic, with him engaged now it would be fully that way. “ Kishi could use some extra training.” I teach her what I can but all one style and teacher leaves her open to easy defeat once someone figures out how she moves.” Malen knew the Arrikanez woman had skills enough to help Kishi learn to defend herself.
Raven nodded “Training I can help with.” She smiled softly and rested her forehead against his, “but what about you?” Her lips only brushed his for an instant, leaving everything else up to him.
Ryvan yawned and curled into Kishi’s chest her fingers curling around the braid and thumb sliding into her own mouth, the blanket that had been tied about her waist loosening as she crawled into the older girls lap.
Malen blushed and shook his head “ Just training I’m engaged to the owner of the hell house so I’m ok.” It was true he had Ianna and that was enough for him.
Kishi hummed softly trying to lull the girl to sleep as she had Artemis a while back. She didn’t mind the girl’s possession of her braid as long as she was gentle. Closing her own gray eyes she tried to let the image of Ryvan’s brightly burning wand banish the shades that threatened her in the darkness of her mind.
Raven nodded, there was some disappointment yes but this was Malen and they would at least always be friends even if they could be nothing else. “So training, what types were you thinking? And can I rely on you to help me with Ryvan’s training?” She shifted out of his lap sliding into the stool next to him, a hand still on his arm to let him know she was there.
Ryvan’s breathing slowed to a steady rhythm as she fell asleep clinging to the older girl.
Malen smiled at the woman’s acceptance of his change in status. “Mmmm knife fighting I know I’m decent at it but I’m also male I’d teach her to balance a different way and rely on different strength than what a woman fighting would do. I mean I can’t teach her how to take her errm future chest into account and stuff.”
As the two children slept on the stage the adults discussed the details of the children’s training long into the afternoon until she had to either kick them out or send them upstairs so she could open the club for the night.

snowfall All it had taken was one night to transform the world from a colourful if dying place to a place of crisp, white, pristine perfection. Snow lay on the ground at least a foot of it and while some were pleased with the thought of a white Christmas others were not so happy. Kishi could see evidence of this as people growled and huffed turning red as they tried to clear sidewalks and driveways. Looking down at the sad excuse of a path someone had made through the snow on the sidewalk in front of her Kishi shook her head. There’d be no walking or jogging today, the snow wasn’t even and she could hurt herself. She’d have to clear the sidewalk first, hopefully that would be a good substitution. A few flakes continued to fall and burned for a few seconds as they landed on her wings. while The succubus child was bundled up she wore a coat that allowed her wings full movement ( which was not easy to get into). Thus the appendages were forced to endure the hardships of the cold wind and falling snow. “ I’m going to make this a quick shovelling job.” She murmured and turned to head inside for a shovel. However, before she got there she came face to face with Del and Echo her dragon partner. Holding a pair of shovels and broken shovel bottom “ Hey Kishi come on we’re gonna go shovel Mrs. Beal’s driveway for eight dollars we’ll split it with you.” The dolphin girl was bungled up tighter than her sibling and even her tail was wrapped in a scarf due to her not quite normal skin. Kishi debated this for a moment then nodded, why not. Mrs. Beal was a nice enough lady and she somehow couldn’t see her clearing her driveway, not with a shovel in one hand and a cane in the other. Besides after all the holiday shopping she’d done Kishi could use a little extra money. Two hours later Two tired red faced girls and one exhausted dragon collapsed into a soggy pile on the living room floor. They’d ended up shoveling more than just one driveway and made quite a bit of money. Kishi had ended up wearing a weird thermal cape thing loaned to them by an angelic neighbour who said he knew what snow ands cold did to wings of any sort. Echo had done the most work acting like a big snow plow but Del and Kishi had worked hard as well. For Del she’d come out of it with a fair amount of pocket change and a healthy respect for people who did that every day. For Kishi she’d certainly worked out and had managed to block out or work past the negative feelings currently haunting her, at least for now.

hypnosis Kishi was a piss poor meditator, the ability to sit still and try to clear her mind was not something she could master or even begin to get a hold. She had always been a mobile child and stilling her body and mind was not working. Fortunately for her the wonder that was the internet had provided her with a solution. Walking meditation, with this she could take a walk down a familiar area and clear her mind letting it work at first only on keeping her body moving and from hitting anything. Thus the Succubus child found herself walking along the route she took to get to the centre each week. She walked at a time when few others would be in her path so she could concentrate better. She breathed evenly and let her mind clear as best as possible. Thoughts were shoved back and worries were put aside. Kishi focused on thesound of the steady rythm of her breathing, she let it sooth her frazzled nerves and harmonize her motions. ( She also wonderes how the net said one could be relaxed when so much was happening at once.) Finally she got to her still point and then the true work began. she made two images in her mind as she walked. One was herself walking as she was now, the other what she wanted people to see. According to what her mother had said in the past she had to overlap the images to make people see the second image. This soon found Kishi trying to meld the images while watchingthe people she did see to see if they noticed any sudden changes in her appearance. If anyone did they either weren't surprised or didn't show it. As it was Kishi wasn't sure if she had or hadn't made any progress before she reached the centre and went in to visit her people.
