Kurt felt something in the air, though he could not describe it. He clung to Hope's arms, keeping her in a protective hold. He turned his head, golden eyes shooting daggers at Magneto. The man Could Not be Trusted. " Not Here. " He Growled at the man from afar. He knew he could read lips. He did not wish to cause a panic amung Human's. Their reactions could be Dire. Why on earth did he Smile like that? His intentions were no longer Pure, that Kurt knew. His Scent alone was diabolical. And Disturbing.

Turning, she gingerly made her way past the departing crowd to the man and the green haired woman who had joined him.
"Um, Excuse me would you mind if I asked you something?" she asked him, hands behind her back.

Magneto managed a smile towards the young lady before him, nodding his head slowly, "what do you have in mind child?" his voice was deep, because of his age. Very old style, old country German with a bit of British dialect.

Zephyr did not hear the psychic speak, she read souls, spirits, not minds. Emotions she could pick up on, sometimes, but never thoughts. So she spoke on what she did hear.

"Hello, my name is Zephyr, may I hear your name is Magneto. If you do not mind, Mr. Magneto, you look like a perfectly reasonable man, and I would very much like to ask you about what else I was told." her eyes glazed over black once more, as the conversation at hand was not quite a child conversation, and the spirits where helping her form better words, whispering the words she wanted to speak into her ear, as they often times would do.
"I don't really like insulting someone's intelligence by lying to them. I hear you are a bad person, a great enemy to the team I seem to have been recruited to, and I suppose there must be some truth to at least some of your acts, as I have seen at least one dead man standing behind you with an accusing stare. Never a good sign. Yet, your soul does not feel like that of someone, who could really be as evil as you are described. Dangerous, certainly, but dangerous is not always evil." she paused then, head tilting to the side in consideration.
"To each their own, I do not truly care about your past actions. What I am curious about right now is, if you are indeed to become an enemy as is suggested, I would like to know why. I do not take things at face value, and if I see no true reason to fight someone, I am not going to do it simply because someone else told me to. So far I do not have actions to base a judgement on, so I am beginning instead with words, I will hear what each side has to say on the matter, before I make a choice. When actions present themselves, which always speak louder than words, then I will make a decision on those as well." You would not think a child as young as this would be able to speak such words, but through her life experiences, as well as her connection with the spirits, there were some ways that she would never be a child, some ways in which she was older than some people would ever grow to be.

She took a seat, smoothing out her dress and placing her hands in her lap, looking up at him with eyes that were bleeding back to bright red, the spirits finished with whispering instructions in her ears for her. She offered a smile.
"So, if you do not mind, I would very much like to hear what you might have to say. It's not fair if I don't listen to both sides."

The music was still swimming in his mind, as he looked away from the keys just briefly. It was therapy. Music therapy that he needed and enjoyed. Erik knew it would not only make him feel better, and perhaps help others as well. Funny how for a moment, he was thinking about someone else other than himself and the Brotherhood.

Taking up Lorna's small hands, bringing one up to his mouth where he kissed the backside of her left hand. Smiling at Lorna, "I'm so glad that you could come, Lorna."

"Did you like the music?"
He asked sincerely, in a casual tone, hearing something in the near by tree, he watched as Cal lowered herself down towards their viewing. Just like a Cheshire cat. He chuckled lightly, sighing deeply as he glanced back towards the keys of the piano, "tell me something.. either one of you. I want... an honest answer. What else did you observe, here today? Other than the music?" Erik wanted to know if the girls had their eyes on anything in specific. The appearance of the X-Men perhaps? A dispute? The red kite flying not too far away in the air. The appearance possible brief appearance of a Sentinel flying over, which apparently continued on its way. Magneto had done something to it so that it did not attack.

He used today's performance act, as a battle tactic as a training exercise, to see if anyone was really paying attention to the big scene. Going on around them, pay not attention to the man behind the curtain. Let alone the one playing music, that was only a distraction to what all was really taking place.

Cal felt her stomach go cold. She'd been part of Erik's team long enough to know when he was insinuating something important. She looked down, recognizing with a start the X-Men. Oh no. No, he couldn't have! She tipped her head, still looking nonchalant as she panicked inside. She was in no shape - mentally or physically - to start a fight, especially when only she, Lorna, and Erik would be pitted against a more numerous opponent. 'Erik Lensherr, if you've done what I think you've done...' She didn't finish the thought. Instead, she tightened her hands into fists until her nails dug deep crescent-shaped dents in her palms.

Trying to sound as nonchalant as her relaxed manner suggested she was, she smiled down at Erik and said, "You're healing. Does that count as an observation?" She moved her finger through the air as if conducting an orchestra. "Your taste is still impeccable though. I'm not sure why I expected that to change. But really, Flight of the Bumblebee? I'm surprised you didn't tie your fingers into knots," she teased, the little impish smile flashing across her face. "Next time play something with lyrics, and I'll accompany you. I've told you before that I can't play for my life."

She flushed a bright red and ducked her head with happiness, beaming up at him from beneath the locks of the brown wig. But that smile stiffened as she heard what he asked her to tell him. She shifted uncomfortably in her seat, "There.....there are people.....over there" her eyes flicked to where Cable, Domino, formerly Hope and Nightcrawler were standing. "They're.....um....they're talking about us....more specifically....you." She had seen it far too often in highschool and more than often been the target of the gatherings of gossiping cliques, to not recognize the poses, fleeting glances, and the subtle gestures of people talking about others unkindly. She ducked her head again and her hand tightened around his. She didn't know who they were or what they wanted but she wasn't going to be shy about defending the only person who seemed to truly care about her.
She tensed further as the little girl came over. Currents of energy were crackling along her skin and metal objects began to vibrate slightly as the girl spoke.

Her jaw clenched and her eyes sparked with anger at the insinuations against her father figure. She didn't particularly care if people spoke badly about her...after all was expected for them to disparage a freak like her...but not Mr. Lensherr. Not the kind old man who had taken her in, shown her control, and above all the gentle kindness of a father. The humans of the crowd were looking a bit askance at the name Magneto, heck even she'd heard it before but there was no way Mr. Lensherr had any connection to that monstrous mutant. In her anger that mid western drawl came out as she finally spoke in complete uninterrupted sentences. "Best watch yer words girlie. I don't know who ya are but we're decent folk who just wanted ta give a bit a music ta the nice folks here in tha Big Apple. My daddy ain't got no connection ta that Magkneeto fella so I suggest ya jest be movin on ya hear?" The metal around them began to hum faster and draw closer to the mousy girl sitting on the piano bench beside the older man with the cultured accent. Even the hairs of the wig were picking up on the electromagnetic current and began lifting up in the air slightly.

"Going away so fast?"

Suddenly thoughts of the food lingering before her completely disappeared from her mind. She heard a voice. It was unlike any voice she's ever heard. So regal...so intelligent... Hope turned her head back to the musician only to find his brilliant eyes upon her. Breath caught in her throat. They were enticing her, drawing her back in. It felt like playing with fire; so much fun but so dangerous to do.

xMagneto
And here I gathered, by your body expression. That you wanted to ask me something. Perhaps the music? The musical instruments? I can see in your eyes, that you have questions. Unanswered questions..."

I...I do. She stammered in her thoughts, with her wide eyes locked on his. Her entire body was facing him now and she could feel a tug from Kurt on her arm, but her mind was completely engulfed with this stranger. There’s always more questions than answers...

xMagneto
"Tell me something, child... do the adults constantly bus you around, when you want to stay and play?"

Yes. They do. Constantly. Her mind spoke back to his as she took an uneasy step forward. The crowd had gathered and many people stood between them. With a wave of her hand and a slight mental nudge, it was like the sea of bodies parted, creating a clear path from her to him. Always don't do this, don't do that. Mutant Messiah this, Mutant Messiah that. It didn't dawn on her that she just outted herself to a complete stranger. I want to know everything. I want to know how to play the way you do. I want to learn why the sky is blue. I want to not feel like people fear me and I should be handled with kid gloves.

Taking another step forward, I want to have fun, live like there's no tomorrow. I want to fall in love. I want to know who I am and what I'm here to do.

Frustrated by her thoughts, Hope brought her hands up to her head and they lingered entwined in her hair. Her eyes felt like they were burning and when she brought her eyes back to him, they literately were. I want to make my own mistakes. Drive a car that isn't hotwired. Worry about purses and outfits and my hair. I want to be free...like you.

Kurt felt her pulling away, and began to grow Angry. Not at her. At Magneto. He must have been filing her head with thoughts and un-true accusations. He could not be to sure, but whatever he was saying, was drawing her in. He Yanked her back, now a wild glare resting upon Magneto. He could not control the Snarl that ripped from his throat. He only partially cared about the people around him.

" Magneto. " He called, well above the crowd. " If you even think about touching her I vill Kill you. " He was forced to be harsh, the German accent making the ferocity seem stronger. He usually would have never threatened someone like that. His family was in danger though, and he would protect it no matter the cost. He did not care if people around him saw what he was. That was not a big deal, compared to losing his Loved ones.

User Image Zephyr's eyes turned quite calmly to the angry girl.
"I'm sorry, I have a real problem saying things behind someone's back like a coward, I much rather prefer to say it to their face. Or, in this case, ask to see how much of it is even true, or at least hear both sides of an opinion." she tilted her head, perfectly calm instead in the face of her anger. perhaps because she knew panicking did no good, but mostly because even when she was in danger, it never sunk in until after the danger was over with. A defense mechanism she had developed, she supposed.
"Would you have preferred for me to actually listen to the rumors as truths, following like a blind sheep instead of bothering to ask my own question and determine my own answers? I've never made a very good sheep, I'm afraid..." she frowned then as if she had done something wrong, looking away seemingly in thought, and the thoughts did not seem too terribly happy by the expression on her face. Her thought was the same, a voice that screamed inside her head.
"You don't belong here. You don't belong anywhere. Why do you even try to interact with these people? You think because they have abilities like you that makes them understand any better than the rest? They're all the same..." the voice hissed into her ear, and she lowered her head, whispering fiercely to it,
"Shut up!

Magneto felt the glare staring directly at him, as he could see out of the corner of his eyes the demon man speaking in volumes. Magneto wasn't doing anything considered illegal. Their lead psychic, Jean Grey did it all the time. So did Charles Xavier for that matter. Constantly seeking out thoughts, invading people's minds without a care in the world to the damages they might possibly be causing.

He merely kept the smile along his features, not once faltering as he kept his eyes locked on the hooded girl for the time being. His actions were innocent in nature. An old man, smiling towards a young girl who was interested in his music.

You would not think a child as young as this would be able to speak such words, but through her life experiences, as well as her connection with the spirits, there were some ways that she would never be a child, some ways in which she was older than some people would ever grow to be.

Magneto listened to all the young lady had to say, giving his time for the young is a priceless gift he thought. Something perhaps that they can carry with them for generations to come... knowledge that is.

"Hello Miss Zephyr. Mr. Magneto, that is something I have not been called." He chuckled, it was a heart felt laugh, not a mocking one. "My name is actually Erik Lehnsherr. The name Magneto, is what my enemy calls me. A coined name for my..." He paused seeing the hooded girl was still tuned in to him. Smiling still towards her, hoping that she would still speak back with him.

"Abilities... I am the master of magnetism." He said as matter of fact. "I can control anything, even go as far as shifting the magnetic poles to the point where the tectonic plates would crack, falter, by depolarizing everything here. But that would be considered, heinous, an act of war."

Erik reached up placing his aged hand against his chest, as if he were pledging allegiance to the flag. "I am not a bad man. These people who told you this, are only jealous that I have a power such as that. Which can be used for evil and destruction." He frowned, shaking his head slowly to the sides, "I do not go out seeking battles, like your friends do. Tell me, have you actually had a battle come to you? To your location?"

His features wavered to the side, as he rolled his head about, "Who am I to say whether or not that has happened. I will admit, that I have not always been considered a nice man. In my past life, growing up, I caused.. trouble just like any young adult would. I was rebellious in nature, I had a lot of hate for man. For man wiped out my entire family, during World War II. I watched as my mother and my father were taken from me. Forcefully by the SS, the Gestapo! Hauled off towards the gas chambers, while I was forced to work in a camp for the rest of my life."

"I am a concentration camp survivor.."
He pulled up the sleeve of his coat, revealing the tattooed number he was given while he worked in the concentration camp.

Erik's right hand was balled tightly into a fist of rage. Before relaxing his grip and the tension within his shoulders. Lowering his head slightly before looking past the fallen strands of white hair against his face. It took him a moment to regain his calm nature as he spoke to this child before him. "My hatred, was aimed at those who killed millions because we were different."

"My hatred, fueled my anger for humans, to a point when I was younger that I did unheard of things. That I.. myself am not happy with what I did."
His jaw tightened in tension as he spoke. The raw rage build up was there, hidden quite well due to patience. He knew there would be a time, in his life where he could get the revenge on those who murdered his family in cold hearted blood. "But that ... as you said, is in the past. I have forgiven those who have.. done evil... in my life."

Erik turned to look towards Cal, his silver blue eyes shimmering in the sun light. Bowing his head down towards her, as his eyes never moved away from Cal's positioning, "I will give you credit for noticing that my dear Cal. Such the eclectic one in our group. Are you not?" He couldn't help but smile towards her, feeling relaxed around her as the tension in his shoulders dispersed after speaking to the young girl at his feet. There was still tension there, but it was hidden deep within his eyes.

Magneto was not going to start anything with anyone. If someone wanted to start something, they would be the ones doing it! The only thing he had noticed earlier while playing was a MRD Sentinel flying through the air. He merely directed it else where knowing that a massive amount of people would probably be killed in the process if he had not intervened earlier, in his actions. Which no one paid any attention too. "I would be honored and delighted for you to join in on my playing Cal, it would be a spiritual, uplifting event for the both of us. Agreed?"

((Gaia glitched RIGHT as I went to post this, had to wait for it to come back...))
"May I call you Mr. L? It's much easier to remember, and I'm terrible with names..." she asked, for a moment sounding like the child she was supposed to be. Zephyr listened to him, but also turned her head to examine the people. Nightcrawler growing angry, and the other woman flying down as well, and even the woman beside Mr. L. And of course, the worry the adults had shown before. She shook her head with a frown.
"It looks to me like people on both sides are itching to fight. I'm not sure I will have anything to do with it. Beasts solve their problems with violence. Humans have the capacity to speak and reason. It's just a pity they are so unwilling to use it." she turned back to him then, quite serious.
"The people who hate for no true reason, are found in every possible place. There is not a single category of person untouched by such a thing. But that doesn't mean that there aren't good people too, even if those seem hard to find, it doesn't mean they're not there." she shook her head, watching the people again, seeming just about to break out into fight right here, and for no real reason at all. It was rather side.
"From what I'm seeing right now, I don't think either side has any room to talk about the other, because both of them are acting the same. Like children." she assessed, crossing her arms and disappointed at how the grown ups were so ready to fight. What ever happened to talking about problems and coming to reasonable understandings? Maybe they just all happened to skip those lessons in grade school...or forget them.

His eyes stayed locked on the X-Men members present before them, unbeknown that they were now standing at least a hundred feet away from where they once were only a few feet from where he had been playing earlier. Nodding his head slowly, he smiled towards Lorna. Wrapping his right arm around her figure as she leaned in against him. Allowing her to grip his hand as hard as she wanted to do so. The smile remained.

Erik was thrilled to know that both Lorna and Cal had made wonderful observations. Kudos for the both of them. He was about to say something when his attention shifted now back towards the young girl, as Lorna disapproved of how Zephyr was questioning him.

Feeling the energy starting to crackle along Lorna, Erik raised up his right hand, very delicately brushing some of the brown locks of hair away from her face. As he leaned in placing a soothing kiss against her forehead, while whispering towards her ear, his voice was calm, tender and reassuring. "Lorna... my dear. Calm down... she's not worth it. Just relax, words can and do harm. I realize that. It's the physical actions that concern me, my dear. Just relax..."

His cheek was now resting against the side of Lorna's head, "I won't allow anyone to hurt you." Placing a gentle kiss along side those hidden green locks of hair, Lorna was so desperately trying to hide from the rest of the world. He admired her fire, that burned within her. He also was glad to know that Lorna was there, not just as one of his students, but there as a family member. Who'd protect him.

Lorna, strong of a character that she is, needs to let this rage filled energy go. At least for the time being. The so called innocent minds, of ignorant fools standing around them. Had no idea just whom they would be messing with if they even considered to cause havoc with him and his family present.

Cal nodded once. "Yes, I think it will." She caught her lower lip between her teeth and blinked slowly down at the group of mutants that had accumulated in the park. How ironic was it was that, though some tensions were admittedly somewhat high, this was the longest that the opposing forces had been together without serious conflict. She was a little curious about the young girl - Zephyr? - and how much she tended to chatter, but then, not everyone could be as anti-social as she was.

Cal sat up on the branch and dangled her legs into space, flexing her toes. It felt strange, but she was more at home now than she had been since leaving Ireland. Strange, since the Zodiac had been the most eclectic combination of girls in the world. Six American girls in a large, Irish mansion while the owners were traveling the world. How far she'd come since then. From the awkward, gangly teenager with acne and oily hair to the beautiful young woman who knew herself better than she'd ever thought possible.

"Erik, now that you've finished with your concert, I don't suppose I could steal you away for a while?"
