Koiyuki Lord Vyce I'm honestly stoked about SSBB. I can't wait 'til 2007. Me either. I'm especially happy for the sure to low price for the Wii. But how does Snake fit into all that? I think it's a way of saying that Konami will be pretty close with Nintendo. Rumors say that one company exec begged another for the appearance of Snake in SSBB. Which was the beggar? I know not.

A friend of mine sent me the following: Quote: Black History: There was a black man, a white man, and a Na tive American man, and a Latino man . All four of them were on top of a cliff discussing the difficulties that their people had gone through. The Native American said, "my people have suffered the most, and in honor of what they have endured, I will fling myself off this cliff in hopes that my blood will change things". So he yelled out real loud "THIS IS FOR MY PEOPLE", and jumped off the cliff. The Latino not wanting to be outdone, quickly looked at the other two and followed suit yelling "THIS IS FOR MY PEOPLE" and jumped off the cliff as well. The black man was touched by this and decided it was his turn, so he yelled "THIS IS FOR MY PEOPLE" and pushed the white man off the cliff! Upon recieving this, I recognized that it was meant to be a joke and all that, but nonetheless, I turned to him and commented that it was a bit racist. He responded that, no, it wasn't, because it was a joke, because other people found it funny, and because it was true that whites had oppressed blacks, so "it was true". So then, does this change the fact that it's racist? Or am I wrong and is it not racist?

Well, the joke, at it's core, is racist, and meant to show to show what the black man would do if he felt he needed to rectify this people's oppression by the whites of the time, but in reality, it all depends on how you look at it. *I am of the opinion that most would not think so, due to something called the 'Double Standard'*

Hell, I look like whitebread whitey from whitesville, but my grandfather was the chief of the Creek tribe in Oaklahoma. We natives are quite the tricky ones.

Hell, I look like whitebread whitey from whitesville, but my grandfather was the chief of the Creek tribe in Oaklahoma. We natives are quite the tricky ones. *nods in agreement* But as I said, it all depends on how you look at it, and also who's hearing it. Where as one person may be culturally sensitive, another may be as unfeeling as an icicle about the subject. Most racist jokes are meant to open our eyes to the steroetypes we perceive about others, and get them to take it a little less seriously, therefore giving the stereotype less power, and influence on others. *which is probably how most racy comics justify their material* Another variant of this joke involves an Asian throwing rice off the cliff, and the Latino throwing beans, although the black man still tosses a white guy off the cliff as it's punchline. In unrelated news, I showed one of my beta readers a short rommance story I wrote, and it was apparently so hot, she actually got wet, and was fighting the urge to masturbate! An odd writing achievement, but an achivement, nonetheless. Here's hoping that number climbs into the millions...
