Twyla would follow Revenge, and would add to his response.

"Yeah, his motives are really not like ours, but I don't think he's a terrible person, nonetheless. But..." She was thinking about his cheerful banter with Vivi, but something about his complete lack of compassion for those who were still being kept chilled her.

"Uh, his contact... She's an elf woman he called 'Mother' if that rings a bell for you guys. Apparently she would hire him to move people out of Aria--people that were changed, like you both--and set them up in new lives. His daughter Vivi was someone he adopted because he didn't think she'd be able to ever fit in on her own. When he collects these people, they're already out of where ever Aria has been holding them and... altering them... so he doesn't know who else is kept, or where, or by what means. I don't get the feeling that Mother was breaking them out, though..."

She took a deep breath. This trail had gone cold faster than she'd expected. She cast a short glance at Valac, but didn't mention what had come to light about him.

"Oh, and I should mention... This Mr. Tristan is making grenades and potions for Aria. They have potions of invisibility, like we saw Vivi use, and their grenades are for knocking people out. They want to take you all alive. And... he knows Arthur is the one helping us. Mr. Tristan said he wouldn't sell us out, but still... We need to get out of here as soon as Arthur shows up."

Petra and Abby don't react at the mention of Mother, seeming to indicate that the name doesn't mean anything to them. However, Petra does seem to perk up at the mention of Tristan moving people out of Aria. "So their are others? Did you ask them where he took them? How many has he smuggled out? To think there might be more out there, like us. Do you think he would help us contact them?"

Abby would pick up on Valac's mood and ask him. "Valac, whats wrong? You seem bothered by something."

"Don't bother with him." Spat Valac his face twisted with contained rage, "The man's nothing but a slave trader. No greater good. No just cause. What a load of bullshit..."

Valac glared back at Abby's question, he knew she meant well but he was just not in the mood for being good humoured.

"Bothered? I think I'm well beyond that. Turns out the childhood I could never remember is because I was being messed with Aria and the man who 'rescued' me intended to sell me for profit. I want to kill him and I want to kill Aria."
PostPosted: Thu Mar 16, 2017 12:08 am

"What? He's a slave trader?" Petra seemed a bit confused by Valac's stark description being in complete contrast to what Twyla said moments before. "I-I if he's doing bad to those like us, then we need to stop him. I... I'm going to go talk to him myself and get some of my questions answered." Petra stands up and begins to make her way out of the wagon.

Abby however would just stare at Valac. "So... he told you that you are one of us. I... I knew there was something familiar about you. As I was raiding their documents on our escape, I saw a file that contained a picture of a tiefling boy. It said his experiment was a failure and that he was terminated. If what that man says is true, that means they might not have simply killed us once they were done with their experiments... but... but it doesn't make any sense. For as eager as they are to kill to hide their secret, why would they let any of us out alive?"

"No, he is a transporter. Mother arranges their escape, he meets them and takes them to a new home. I don't think Aria is letting them go willingly."
Kuori would say as she barred Petra's exit from the cart.

"Arthur had best hurry, if he takes to long we may need to consider him compromised."
PostPosted: Fri Mar 17, 2017 7:39 pm

In response to Petra, he would shake his head. "No, Kuori's description is more accurate. But I don't think he'd be motivated to do anything unless it profited him. I think the only reason he's not either actively or covertly trying to sabotage us is that he's not being paid for it - a bargaining chip if he wants to extort more coin out of the Arians, 'for next time'. Contracts are funny that way. On the flipside, if we could give him a more lucrative offer, we could probably get him to sabotage them. Unfortunately, we don't currently have the means to do that. He's a neutral piece on the battlefield." He would scan the area around him, before adding, "He showed no genuine interest in our plight, so I think trying to pursue anything with him would be a dead end right now, especially with Aria breathing down our necks."

Thinking of something, the tiefling would turn to the goliath. "Hey, Kuori..." Revenge would ask while they waited. "You said before, to Tristan... what was it... his 'employers' messed with Valac's head? Something to that effect? Did you mean Aria? How did you know that was the case? It seemed Valac himself only just learned about it with the rest of us," Revenge would ask while they waited.

Twyla would nod along as Kuori and Revenge spoke. "I agree; I don't think Mr. Tristan has much to offer us right this minute. And as callous as he was towards us, especially Valac the Unpropitious... I didn't get the feeling he was involved in any slave trading, either."

She would then be silent, wanting to hear Kuori's response. As she listened, she looked around warily, just to keep an eye out.

((Perception: 24. Do I see Arthur, or anything or anyone suspicious?))

After everyone said their piece on Tristan Valac would retort, "Then what do you call a man who takes a person against their will from one place to another for money? A bounty hunter or a slave trader."

Listening to Abby's information Valac would contribute an idea, "Sounds like there's an insider of the Labs then. Marking us off as dead and then passing us off to this 'Mother' figure."

Valac would then turn on Kuori also after Revenge inquired about her knowledge, "What?! Are you a damn Arian spy?!"

Petra sits back down and crosses her arms, obviously a little angry at being blocked from asking her questions. She doesn't say anything further.

Abby would interject into the conversation as it got more heated. "I believe Kuori just misspoke. Now is not the time to get worked up over nothing. We have to trust in Arthur that he will succeed in his task and will be on his way soon. For him to get along in that organization without his true motives being discerned means he must have some sort of skill."

As Twyla peers out the wagon she sees a small set of red eyes watching them from under the curtains of a window in the top story of Tristan's house, most likely Vivian. Other than that, she sees a single Arian soldier, clad in the group's impressive looking plate mail, making his way towards the wagon, though he's yet little ways off. Nothing else stands out to the gnome.

She answered Revenge as if he hadn't been watching the past several days. "The guy keeps getting worked up about his tattoos, apparently doesn't remember his past since he is always dogging down people with the slightest clue, he has anger issues, and literally turns into a monster on the battlefield. Who else wipes memories, deals in the arcane, and makes people monsters? I mean granted, my eavesdropping skills are top notch, but surely you had to have caught a few of those things. The guy is just like your wife ... except I don't think they were as successful at the results. No use in a soldier you can't control, be it through fear or might." She shivered as she registered how cold that sounded, "Speaking from their perspective I mean."

She then said to the group, her answer to Abby's statement, "If he takes too long he is either captured, with them, or dead. And if we wait to long to find out which or go after him, we are too. We need to get away from these innocents before they come, I don't want anyone else caught in the crossfire."

"Hey," Twyla said abruptly. "Someone's coming. A soldier. It's probably Arthur, but I can't see his face with his helmet on..." She would point discreetly at the figure coming closer.

She would look back at the others, her face very still. "Just thought maybe you guys would like to know. Looks like our wait is coming to an end. Petra, you know Arthur best... that seems like it's him, right?"

"Most of those can be attributed to adventurism, though. I've met this one warden who could turn into this rocky... golemy thing... in battle." Suddenly, Revenge would look thoughtful. "Unless she was? I always assume it was a warden ability... There was this druid that turned into a wolf too....."

Before he could commit more energy into doubtful reflection, Twyla spoke up.

Revenge would put his hand up to silence the conversation and turn to watch the individual as he approached. "... wouldn't Arthur show up with his helmet off as to not alarm us?" He wouldn't go for his weapons or anything, but he would instead try to focus on the individual walking, see what kind of intent he could get from his pace... Confidence? Fear? Malice?

Though it is hard to tell much with how covering the plate mail is, the person does seem to be the right height for Arthur. Revenge would notice he's walking quite energetically, despite the heavy armor, almost as if he has an extra spring in his step. In his hands, he carries a satchel. The Arian soldier slows down as he approaches. He stops just outside the wagon and takes a long, hard look at Tristan's house.

After a moment or so, the soldier knocks on the side of the wagon and speaks in a hushed voice. "Hey, it's Arthur. You guys in there?" The soldier quickly sighs. "Tristan better not have done anything to you guys..."

Twyla would shrug. It sounded like Arthur.

She would whisper back, "We're fine. We're all here and ready to get a move on."

She would look around the wagon questioningly to see if anyone objected.

"What's the plan?" Revenge would ask aloud quietly.
