Nirva didn't even speak, she simply spread her wings and took flight. Once in the air she looked down on the two hunters pondering for a moment before reaching back into her wings. Hand over hand she snapped the axes in under hand swings forcing Ceres to dance about trying to stop as many as she could.
Yet one after another the small rain of axes came, six in total, not a lot but just enough fueled by the last of the FEAR in the crystal on her neck she sent them flying some cutting at Kat below before she used her wings to carry her out of range.
Even as he was assaulted on both sounds, his attack didn't waver. He could feel his FEAR shield trembling, but hell, he wasn't going down just yet. Not until he took one of these bastards with him.
At Belladona's response, he sneered. "Don't flatter yourself, witch. I would never go for someone like you." Don't worry. Once he was done with this one, you're next.
He caught a flash of movement next to him, and turned to see the mist trainee bring her sword down, delivering a heavy blow to the horsewoman. Damn, she was no Sun, but wow.

SHEHK being science'd by MIMSY
A piteous look. "Before it changes back." she answered as if she was speaking to a small child - endeared by how little they knew. "And then you will hold nothing more than another piece of a big bad wolf." still chiding, yet sickeningly friendly.
The begging would have, in any other scenario, prompted Shehk to read out and press her paw against the back of Mimsy's head. Instead, she just 'tsk'd, as if disappointed.
"I don't make it happen. You're the one who caused it." she answered.

Thoughts of the orb were tucked away in the back of her mind when Gale approached. Eva greeted the boy with a bright grin, only to look slightly surprised when she realized that he and the doll girl were acquainted. "Aah...you two are friends, then?" She looked between the two--and briefly tilted her head at Mei's reaction--before her lips spread into a warm smile.
"Well! Any friend of Gale's is a friend of mine! It's nice to meet you, Mei." She stretched a hand out for the girl to shake, despite the fact that now was not the best time for introductions.

ALEX IS NOT ATTACKING ANYONE
All Alex could see was red. This hunter, the one that had attacked him from behind while he wasn't even looking, now threatening him, not backing the jack off like he had told her to. He would have loved to have picked a fight with her then and there, would have been only too happy to duke it out with her, and see who came out on top this time.
Except that he was feeling weak. He had used up what he could on healing himself earlier. The hunter that he had helped to take down had hit him hard, and the zomboil knew he didn't have much left to give at this point. He wasn't about to start a fight he couldn't win, and so he just wanted her to go away, to find somebody else to screech at in her obnoxious voice.
And of course Mort was there too, getting in between them, pushing Alex away from her as though he were the threat and not her. Well, whatever, he could make himself walk away this time. Mort's mentioning of Sophie and Belladonna's names only made it easier to do so.
And then the jacking hunter attacked him, again, screaming at him, stabbing at him with her blades that tore through the fabric of his clothing, coming away wet with the dark, rotting ooze that ran sluggishly through his veins. "You can jacking try!" He snarled back at her. "Or maybe this time I'll take yours, and use to to replace the one you stole from me." And in that moment, he resolved to get a new eye the moment he got back to Amityville, so that the next time he came across this unintelligent, loud, belligerent, bawdy, walking talking happy meal he could stare her down with two working eyes, something he was pretty sure she would never have again.
He was fully prepared to lunge at her, to rake his fingers down her ugly face when the horsemen arrived to attack. And then he just stood and stared in amusement, a smile curling up his lips as arms folded across his chest. Even when Mort stepped in to say something, the zomboil just shook his head.
"No, I'm done here. Let them have her. I have a sister to find." He growled, just before the hunter fell beneath horsemen blades. He spat at the ground next to her, his upper lip curled back from his teeth. She had gotten what she had coming to her.
And then something rapidly changed. Something in the air became much different. The zomboil could feel it, Fear coursing through him. He had missed the splitting of the orb but that mattered very little now as power welled up inside of him. He'd never felt so strong, so rejuvenated....
....But it was not his power to hold. It didn't belong to him. It felt wrong, somehow, not his, but somebody, or something else's. It only took him a moment to see it, the orb, and the hunter that grabbed for it's split pieces. He reached out towards it, but too late. He wanted to give back the Fear, if he still could...
She hated this girl, she really hated her. Reaching out to Ceres, she glared up at the horseman once again, taking another stab at her. "Horsemen, b***h!" She spat, trying to drive the ice further into them.
With Ceres' return, she was both concerned for her, and grateful for her aid. This horseman, she was not exactly in the best of moods, especially with her last remark about her clan. If it was just Kat's life on the line, then she would be thinking 'great!' but Ceres was at risk as well. When would she learn to bite her tongue..?
Watching as the horseman took flight, her eyes widened slightly as they prepared their attack. Shiiiit- she mentally cursed, readying herself for the oncoming attack. As the axes rained down on them both, Kat brought up her arms to defend herself from the worst of it, crying out as the sliced deep through her skin. She would be damned lucky if she didn't lose a limb over this. The result of the attack was as nasty as she has expected, but could have been far worse if Ceres hadn't stepped in.
Cursing and rolling to her side again, she placed a hand over one of the worst of the gashes, spitting up mouthful of blood. If she ever saw that b***h again, she was going to pluck all the feathers from her wings and kick her off a cliff.

And from the orb, what was taken away was returned twice greater. The rest was a race in time, slowing once again to seconds, miliseconds-
- Allan was close, but Medea was closer, and where the Head Priestess grasped at the orb with her fingertips, the Sun lead instead directly grabbed Ryan, prying the fallen Hunter away from the poisonous Fear of the artifact. The action alone would cost the Hunters the battle.
Triumphant, Medea grabbed the two fragments in her hands, carefully piecing them together. Just the broken ends scraping against each other was enough as they hungrily consumed each jagged end and replaced the broken pieces with a complete orb. Whole.
There was a strange relief, as if the tension had been released from an overly-taught string: something had awoke and could not be stopped.
Something had finally awoken.
The earth heaved again, once again pushed backwards, rippling backwards and throwing all off their feet as the ground split in all directions around the orb. From Medea's hands, from where she held it, the ground split into a tree, a gnarled-blackened tree, branches splitting all directions, again and again, like a delicate ebony cobweb. Each tip of the tree sunk deep into the ground, rising and falling again, arcs of fragile black that began to weave into each other, wire-like, solidifying further and further, creating, frames, shapes.
Faces.
Legs first, then the beginning of a torso. A head spun from strands of black, followed by ornate, organic clothing. Colour splashed into the statue-like figures, golds and greens, blacks, deep violets, the glimmer of metal. And lastly, once again, the faces. Familiar faces. Faces that the Lost Clans had once said goodbye to. Faces that now stood, with their own bodies, with their own legs, regal, proud, simply knowing.
"Head priestess." Two Death priestesses, upon forming completely, bowed, long and deep, their garments shimmering, glinting with gold, "Thank you, for bringing us back into the path. We waited. Complete, and incomplete at the same time. We waited, because we knew you would come. We waited because we knew you would save us."
Medea smiled, gentle now, of one who was in power and control. This was the ending she had promised. "Thank not only me, but those who fought for you, your clansmembers, and the Initiates, everyone who fought to bring you the Fear you needed to awaken again." Indeed she had nothing to fear now: where the battlefield had been event it was now saturated in the darker forms of the horsemen. The Hunters were outnumbered at least by hundreds. Indeed she had nothing to worry and she knew very well so, turning to the few Humans that dared to still resist. Turning to the one who tried to defy her and failed. Intolerable and now, insignificant. "We will let live amongst you a few survivors, the others will be delivered a death far swifter than ours, for we are no strangers to the ways of the path of death. Let your kind know, for any Humans that struggle, that we will be here, in numbers you cannot fathom, far greater than before. The Human World will be ours to harvest, perfect and absolute. There was a lesson perhaps, of arrogance, but now the story has changed, and the path along with it. We learn from our mistakes, grow stronger, and become more powerful than before. Humans cannot fight what they cannot even begin to understand and they cannot resist something a path already created." A gentle smile now, her cold eyes betraying her intentions. "All paths lead to the same end."
The horsemen attacked.

At the end of the day, despite the frivolities, despite waving everything away with a smile, a nod, a playful term, there were some things Allan was very aware of. The first was protection, to fight and protect, to protect by fighting. The second was when time stopped and became the inevitable.
Noah didn't say anything, but the weapon sounded concerned. It was not longer just a fun game. They might very well lose.
The horsemen might as well have been masses of black, for all that the they represented, as Medea spoke, as the Sun lead tried his very hardest to figure out some way out, any way he could, just please, any way, to please, despite everything save them all-
- He couldn't.
As she talked, his fist clenched a little tighter, knuckles a little whiter against the sword handle. He wished he was a little smarter, maybe like Simon, maybe more like-
- But he wasn't. There was only one thing he could do and one thing only. Fight to protect. Protect and fight.
As she talked, he was almost ready. The signal had been given. His heart beat a little faster now. It would be any ti-
- Everything exploded as the horsemen descended, yet even that motion took seconds longer. The pendulum was still ticking.
Ryan was tossed immediately to two waiting Sun Hunters, Allan focusing as much as he could use to a straight, charged attack. It arced forward, pushing the first of the army back a little further. Pushing them, not stopping.
"Retreat!" That was him, and then echoed by the Sun Hunters behind him. The others didn't need to be told twice. "We'll regroup back later, retreat back to the portal area, go."
It must have been super handy, being made of Fear. Allan wondered a bit what that would be like, to be able to bounce back so easily. It was kind of like cheating, and he wasn't a cheater or anything: everything should be earned and fought over and over again, always and always with and from the heart. The grip on his weapon was just a little tighter. He closed his eyes and heard only the roar of footsteps, a slow thunder. It wasn't until they were closer that he moved, sweeping a second, a third attack upon them, parting their forces, regaining their attention. That's right-
- At the end of the day he was still the most important prize to them. To the other leads it was perhaps a stigma, but to him it was more a blessing, a relief, one last chance to prove exactly why he held his title.
And when they descended upon him, a wave of veritable black, tearing into his Fear shields like thick sandpaper, he still held his ground, cleaving back as much as possible, pushing back a little more. Any time now.
His headset crackled. 'We're all good to go. Portal's clear!' A pause. 'Sir, any time you're ready.'
Oh yeah. He had forgotten about that.
'Sir?'
He wanted to say something. Maybe some encouraging phrase maybe something, but everything was black and there was nothing around and at some point he realized that Noah was literally screaming at him -
- One hand, went and closed the headset just as his Fear shield cracked.
A moment of panic - the presents! He had bought everyone presents for Christmas and-

Medea was in her element. She continue to smile as she watched the Hunters retreat, lazily. "The best lack all conviction, while the worst are full of passionate intensity."
"Head Priestess?" One of the Guardians tilted his head, wondering exactly who she was addressing.
"An old human story," Medea dismissed with one hand. She took a few steps, more regal than she had ever been before. "Let us go home, all of us. We have much to celebrate." She turned towards the students, mingled with the Horsemen. "For those who follow our ways, you will always find yourself welcome amongst our path. For those who seek a different path, there is always your own to return to." She lazily waved a hand, a portal appearing next to her. A second one appeared to somewhere else: the Lair. The Horsemen lair. One orange, one a deep red. The Head Priestess turned to step that direction, back to the Lair. "There is much that waits for us in this path before we claim our true title as the Four Clans once again."
They left behind only a battlefield stained with blood.

Mengyao slanted a look towards Belladonna with some exasperation.
"Lifen does not follow me around," he said dryly. "She's not a puppy. She is a perfectly capable horsewoman that makes her own decisions. Whether or not she chooses to stay with me is entirely her own decision, and it doesn't - "
He did not finish his sentence. There was a sudden movement behind him and then the small figure of the female hunter came rushing in, her sword raised, brought down in a great, swishing arc towards him -
No. Not towards him. Towards Lifen.
A shout ripped from his throat. The humans were forgotten, disregarded. He did not remember moving, but the next second he was kneeling beside her, his hands against her face.
"Lifen!" he said sharply, feeling his heart loud against his chest, panic welling in his stomach. "Lifen, are you all right - "
Something in the air snapped. Mengyao's head jerked up, his eyes cutting across the chaos towards the priestess who stood at the front, a triumphant look on her face. Beneath him, the ground gave a great shudder, a colossal shake that threw him sideways onto the ground. He grappled for Lifen's hand, holding tightly, and grit his teeth, dragging himself towards her so that he could lay protectively over her, a look of anger on his face.
"What the hell - "
And then he saw them.
One by one they appeared, slowly at first, and then rapidly growing, until there were dozens, many dozens, hundreds, all of them standing in a cluster, spreading out among the hunters and the horseman and students alike. Many were unfamiliar, but there were a few - there were some -
"That's..." Mengyao's throat felt dry. For the first time in a very long time, he was at a loss for the proper words.
"That's not possible."
But it was - they were here. They were alive.
And the humans were dead.

Gale gave Mei a look as though to say say nothing, his cheeks reddening slightly. He did not know how she had discovered so fast that Eva was the one he had been talking about when he had told Mei that there was one person he would always protect, but somehow she had deduced it anyway.
He gave Eva a slight smile.
"She's...on our side," he said, the words sounding not-quite-right. It wasn't really easy to describe his relationship with Mei, or Mei's relationship with Deus in general, but this would have to do. "She's - "
But Eva would never know what Mei was, since at that very moment there was a tremendous crash, and Gale found himself thrown off his feet. Instinctively he reached out, grabbing Eva's hand with his only good one, wincing and gasping in pain as he landed hard on the ground, his bandage-wrapped arm beneath him. Rolling over, he pressed his face to the ground and waited for the aftershock of the quake to be over, holding tightly to Eva all the while to make sure nothing would happen to her. He would have held onto Mei as well, but he did not have a hand to spare.
Jinhai!
<< It's her, that priestess - Medea. >>
He chanced a look up, and then wished he hadn't.
Surrounding them on all sides were horsemen. Not just the horsemen who had been there previously, but the ones they had killed, the ones from the islands - hundreds of them, surrounding them on all sides like an army, and Gale felt his stomach drop. He clenched his teeth.
"Oh, this is just swell."
Allan's voice screeched over the headset, and Gale did not waste any more time.
"Let's go!" he yelled, just as the horsemen surged forward, and he pushed Eva in front of him, and then, on impulse, grabbed Mei and pushed her forward as well.
"Back to Deus, let's go!"

The darkness descended upon them. The snowy landscape was dotted with the bodies of reforming horsemen, her brows knitting together as she watched them. As they joined their allies. For the first time in over a year, she felt a panic sink into her gut, gripping Nicodemus even tighter now than before, her knuckles turning white. 'What do we do, Nick?' she asked quietly, her eyes glossing over as that small panic she'd locked away from her heart for so long began to leak out into her chest. This surrounding, it was worse than just a single horseman of Conquest who could black hole them all into oblivion.
No, this would be her undoing if she let herself panic, but for a brief moment the fear settled in her mind - and then Allan's voice broke through it. She looked towards the sun division lead, giving him a pained look. He was pushing them back, but it wouldn't be kept up forever. She knew that. She knew what he was doing, and it took everything in her to not let that part of her that belonged to the moon division to bubble up and send her to him.
But she didn't look away from him until a shout from behind her reminded her there was a portal. Then a voice inside of her head spoke. Cassandra. The pendant you wear. Use it. he urged. Cass held it with one hand, her lower lip quivering. These Horsemen. These blasted clans. They were the reason why they couldn't have nice things.
"Try to come back, Allan...." she whispered quietly, lifting the pendant as though it was a rosary to her lips, whispering to it quietly: 'Deus Ex Machina' She didn't look away from him, but one blink - and that would be the last she saw.

s**t. No. NO. He hadn't even noticed Ryan's lifeless body on the ground, but the head priestess, and the Sun Hunter...
They were completely surrounded. The horsemen has won. Everything was lost.
"DAMN IT ALL!"
The headset had been forgotten about until that moment, and he tore it off angrily, throwing it to the ground. He would probably be reprimanded for losing precious runic tech, but at this point, he didn't care.
He yanked out the pendant from within his coat, clutching it tightly. One day, one day those creatures would pay.

Snow.
The sound of bells, of warmth and nostalgia. Fog. Someone was humming, an abstract tune, familiar. Ah yes, the opening theme song from One Piece. Allan cracked open an eye and then, sort of determining that everything was still relatively okay, opened the other.
More snow. And then a tray full of grey cutouts.
"Cookie?" She suggested, offering the smoking tray closer.
Allan looked around, a little confused, grasping at his weapon which was very much there. "Uhhh no thanks." Awkward silence. "Where am I?"
"Oh, um, it's my temporary kitchen." She pouted. "It's not the best, but since I can't go Home Home because that's bad it's all I have now." She busied herself with foggy counters.
The Sun lead shifted. At some point, most of his tattered coat had been torn off. He lifted a bit of his shirt to examine the damage. Runic bandages. Allan raised an eyebrow. "Did you..." He trailed off.
She smiled a little wistfully, placing her tray down and fidgeting with her apron. "Oh, I know I shouldn't but I really wanted to... you won't tell the others right?"
A sigh as the Sun lead leaned back. Complications. "I wont," he repeated, "But you have to promise to be very, very good when I leave."
She clapped her hands excitedly together as it began to snow a little more. "Oh yes! I'll behave! I'll just wait and make lots and lots of cookies and make sure everyone is happy." The fog solidified a little more, grew a little brighter and smelled a little more like gingerbread. Large brown eyes looked back down again. Hearts. Rainbows. "Oh! Merry Christmas Allan Taichou."
"Merry Christmas." A pause. "Julie-chan."

Glorious, glorious victory. Tseng knew it this was the ending from the start. Grinning, he went on his way home. This was definitely a day to go down in history. And he had taken his part in it.
----
Another loss. Deryk paled as they were soon outnumbered by the hundreds. This... this was really bad. Furthermore, Allan...
No. Don't think about it. He just needed to retreat. His gaze flicked over towards Mei, but she was being taken care of by Gale right now. Leaving her to him, he grabbed his pendant and warped back to base without another thought.
----
Shun watched everything unfold, and quite frankly.. he wasn't entirely certain how to feel about it all. Hunters deserved no mercy in the slightest, but given some of the things he had seen on the horseman isles, he wasn't sure if them harvesting the human world was necessarily a good thing. He gladly fought along with them to take down hunters, but he had little interest in slaying regular humans.
But...
There was that power. Was it a taste of what Medea could provide? When the portals appeared, he found himself staring towards the one leading to horsemen territory. It was incredibly tempting...
Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately depending on perspective), he recalled his promise to Lizzy. And.. she was here too. The Reaper grimaced, tightening his fists for the moment. Spying her not far off, he stared hard for the moment.
"I suppose my promise still stands?" he asked lowly.
