It began to snow heavily. It was cold, the air was cold, damp, it wasn't uncommon. Yet as the snow descended so did a strange feeling, one that alerted all battlers on the field.
Crunch.
Someone was coming. From the fog, someone was arriving.
Crunch.
From the fog, something was being pulled into reality.
Slowly, all the figures that had formed, grew to half-life retreated, as the piled into each other, bits and pieces, forming tendrils at first, faster and stronger now. At the very last moment, they pulled into each other, shrinking cocoon-like in appearance until finally -
Crunch.
She wasn't that large, nor tall, human-sized actually, made of condensed, fluctuating greys around her that twisted and turned in strange, distorted tendrils. She smiled, widely, and held out her single tray.
It began to snow heavier, as the air took on a strange, ambient feel, the sound of bells, the smell of something warm, homely in the air for a few nostalgic moments.
"Oh!" It proclaimed, tone distorted by a strange, tin-like quality, as if listening to her speak from a long distance. "Happy holidays!" She nudged the tray a little closer. "I brought presents! But only if you were very, very good!"
The smile grew a little wider, just a little, almost splitting her mouth in half, taking on an absolutely sinister quality. That was as much warning as the closest combatants got as fog-like tendrils, shaped like happy little elves, grabbed at them and threatened to pull them into a strange, deep vortex from which she stood above. From which Medea had disappeared into and not quite returned.
OOC: BOSS FIGHT
ALL PLAYERS:
- All players at this point have a choice: to keep on PVP fighting each other, or to deal with this problem - If you are still PVPing, just use the same mechanics from this post - REGARDLESS of what you are doing, you WILL be attacked by the fog, by little elf-like creatures. These creatures are trying their best to drag your character into a funnel that is below the ??? character's feet. If you get dragged into it, you will DISAPPEAR/ not spawn back until after the boss fight in an OOC perspective - If you get hurt/ dissipate, same cooldown timers apply. Fear and charges are refreshed. Hp carries over.
gaia_crown [ Fending off the elves: ] - Tiny fog-made elves are attempting to drag your character into the vortex. You must maintain a distance of 5 meters away from the vortex. Any closer and you will disappear. - Roll 3d20. That is the distance you are AWAY from the fog. - As long as the fog elves exist, each move you take whether attack, heal, defend, etc etc pvp another OTHER than a reaction post, you will lose 5 meters of distance. - Once you are very, very close to the edge, the only way you can distance yourself is by attacking the boss in stage 2 (see below)
gaia_crown [ Attacking the boss: ] - The boss is by extension, the figure in the center and the elves dragging you. You will need to get rid of the elves first. - When attacking the boss, make sure you UPDATE THE CUMULATIVE DAMAGE DONE TO IT in your OOC post FIRST THING, before your flavour text.
STAGE 1: (WHEN YOU HAVE DONE LESS THAN CUMULATIVE 200 HP DAMAGE). - The elves need to be stopped! Each elf has 25/ 25 HP. EACH PLAYER HAS TO DEAL WITH THEIR OWN ELF REGARDLESS (it exists just from a player being in this rp!), though, if you finish your elf faster, you can help another player. - When an elf is defeated, you will also stop being pulled into the vortex. You can now damage the main boss without being pulled closer! - The elves do no auto damage but they will continue to pull you for -5 distance per round you attack them for so make sure you keep track of your distance!
STAGE 2: (WHEN YOU HAVE DONE LESS THAN CUMULATIVE 300 HP DAMAGE). - Now that the elves are clear (for everyone, even late arrivals) it means you can find some ground. Now you can attack the main fog target. However, even approaching close to her, you no matter who you are cannot take your eyes off the crowns. They call to you, and make you feel for a moment a strange mixture in emotions, from sadness, to jealousy, to pride. You for a second question your loyalty to your friends, and at the same time question yourself. You feel as if you are not being appreciated for who you are. These emotions cause unusual feelings to bubble in you. - If your final damage is odd, instead of attacking the boss you attack the person who posted above you be it ally or opponent. - If your attack is successful, the fog's hold on your decreases slightly. You gain +5 distance away. - The boss does +5 auto damage per hit you make. - If your final damage is even, proceed on as usual.
STAGE 3: WHEN YOU HAVE DONE OVER CUMULATIVE 300 DAMAGE: - The elves RETURN. They cannot be damaged however, and you take the - 5 distance per move you make. You will still need to attack the center boss. The crowns are ringing even louder to you making everything indiscernible. If even you attack the person above you. If you miss, you hit yourself for the damage you missed. - The boss does not auto damage for this turn.
gaia_crown [ IF YOU HIT 0 DISTANCE: ] - The last thing you see is the ominous smile of the figure as she glances your direction before everything fades to white - If you are sucked in, you will not be eligible for the crowns sorry sad (see below)

Ami stared at the figured that had cracked into the battlefield, at first alarmed, and then terrified. Julie. No. She'd watched Julie die. That woman was supposed to be dead and gone, yet she always found a way to pop up. Memories of the artic came back, followed by the Sahara.
This was why Ami hated Artic missions. They led to s**t like this.
She shook her head, trying to focus on the task ahead. Small elves had burst into the scene, and Ami knew they weren't here to help. Especially not with that enormous black hole sitting under Julie. She took a deep breath. "Sorry Julie. Some things need to stay dead."
Before Ofelia could say anything else, before she could properly focus, everything was there and everything was looking really, really bad, Something akin to elves (?) were in front of her, swarming around like gross little...things. They made her skin crawl, reminding her of the dolls, and her shoulder throbbed despite her shield being full as she shuddered.
It wouldn't have been so bad if it was just the elves and nothing else but another thing appeared on the horizon. It looked so familiar that it hurt her heart to look at it, prompting Ofelia to turn her gaze away, and she would have stayed standing if not for something taking her hand and trying to pull her in. The creatures wanted her closer to the vortex, closer to whatever that was.
She didn't want to go, she wasn't going to go, and so the weapon that had been dismissed was brought back with a vengeance. Ofelia would be taken no where without her permission.
redheaded, one-eyed hunter wielding a set of blades knuckledusters. loud, proud, oddly properly attired for the current temperature levels hates horsemen with a passion and unafraid to show it. slightly more biased towards students, perhaps
His free hand still wrapped around Kat's wrist, Gale shivered a little as he stepped forward, his booted feet crunching through the snow on the ground. The temperature was rapidly dropping, and he wasn't sure how much longer Kat would last - or any of them, considering that Gale was wearing neither his coat, nor his scarf, and was dressed only in a pair of black slacks and a black turtleneck sweater.
He could hear footsteps.
"Come on," he said, jerking his head in the direction, though the feeling of apprehension was growing more and more with each move they made. "Something - something's up there - "
The fog swirled around them, grey and thick, twisting and undulating, until -
Until -
Horror rose in Gale's stomach like bile, and he stopped dead where he stood, gaping at the figure in front of them. It was not true, it was impossible - it was not real, it couldn't be, it was -
"No, no - no, this is wrong, this isn't - "
His legs felt like lead, but there were things pulling at him, trying to drag him forward, towards something on the ground - something he did not want to go anywhere near. Gale struggled to move his leg away, but it was difficult to maneuver properly.
He could not keep holding on to Kat and fire his gun at the same time. It was one or the other.
And then they were... no, not somewhere else; she hadn't felt any sense of motion, not even of the portal or teleporting kind. But grey hissed around them, and she swore, disengaging from the wolf-freak. That didn't matter anymore. Not now. Not with the grey s**t happening again, and a ******** black hole or whatever opening up in front of her.
All she knew is there was suddenly some jolly little s**t tugging at her legs, and she was way the ******** too close to the vortex.
The strikes by both of the hunters sent Aymet reeling and even shrinking back down to his less conspicuous normal size. And a good thing he did, because the next moment the battlefield erupted in chaos and tiny elves trying to pull him toward a very unsettling-looking pit.
He looked up toward the ghostly woman, trying to figure out just what the Jack was going on, when he saw --
Crowns.
The black shards in his bones seemed to resonate. Some part of him knew what he had to do.

Jay's wings rustled as she peered at the falling snow, then at the strange figure standing above the vortex. She tried to take a step back, but elves were dragging her toward it instead. She clicked her tongue and growled.
He had no clue where he was. Startled, the death hunter looked around the snowy scenery that was notably void of town ruins. A shudder ran through Wilson and he grasped his arms as he watched the snow fall with mild wonder. It felt like he hadn’t seen snow in years, but here it was. He blinked when he heard sounds, voices of other people. When he looked around he saw hunters, students, and horsemen. Someone had whisked him away to a different place, perhaps the battlefield. The place he was initially ordered to go to. “Well, here I am,” he murmured as he took off his goggles to adjust his cannons and gasmask.
Wilson stopped suddenly when a figure made of wispy fog emerged. He barely paid attention to the tiny crowns on her tray, but rather on her overall appearance. Her face was blurry and her voice metallic, but the tone sounded so much like her. It was only at the mention of presents that he bothered to take a closer look at her tray, but it only made the hunter baffled. They were pretty, he would give her that. He parted his lips to utter her name, but words refused to leave his mouth. Instead he felt a tug at his feet and he looked down. His face paled when he realized there were tiny elves trying to drag him closer to the vortex above the figure. “Could you please…?”
Ying knocked against her brother, clinging to his arm for support as the ground creaked and cracked with insanity. Her eyes widened, realization hitting her. This was insanity. This wasn't normal. Her grip on her brother's arm increased, a silent way to say "I'm scared."
She didn't have time to think about it as elves rushed through, attacking and dragging some of the horsemen and hunters that were too close to the strange grey figure. "We must stay away!" Ying cried, pulling herself and her brother back as far away from the figure as she could.
Her kind had already been exterminated once. She would not let it happen again!
Alexander was more then relieved when Mort spotted his sister, already stumbling off towards her before the others began to move. He had barely reached her, a hand shooting out to grab hers to tug her into a quick hug. He had barely any time to hear what Mort had to say, the commands that he gave them, when everything rapidly began to change.
His first warning was the fog. Then the chill in the air that seemed to cut deeper then it had before, settling into his bones and actually making him shiver. It wasn't the cold that was making him shiver though, no. It couldn't be. The cold hardly bothered him in the slightest. No, it was something else. Something foreboding. Fog always brought with it something evil. A taint, a longing.
A human sized grey ghoul holding out a tray of crowns while fog elves formed from the tendrils at her feet.
"MORT!" Alexander shouted, head snapping back towards where the other zomboil had gone. They needed him back here, to forget whatever it was he thought he needed to do.
"Sophie, stay with me." He was still gripping her hand, refusing to let go now and able to see how wrong he had been to leave her before. She shouldn't have been here, but it was his own fault that she was. All he could hope to do now was protect her from harm.

And then she was somewhere new. There was snow and fog. Neither thing made Sherry very happy. At least she wasn't alone. "Ofelia!" The girl wasn't too far away, miraculously. In this situation, it was probably best to stick togeth--
Something was pulling on her. A little creature in the fog? It was pulling her towards? No. No. It couldn't be...Sherry was reminded of the haunted house, and before that...
"No," she told the little fog creature. She didn't want to get any closer. Summoning Armagnac, she decided to try and regroup with Ofie.

Kat was about to answer Jake with a smart a** comment, when something small and annoying grabbed at her and the others, dragging them off somewhere else.
The air was cold, perhaps colder than it was before? She couldn't tell. Her whole body felt numb. Having lost all feeling in her limbs, she barely acknowledged Gale's grip on her still. Why couldn't she just lie down and sleep? Why did she have to keep moving? And to where? She had no where to go after this! She wasn't a hunter, she couldn't go back to the island.
"Huh..?" It took all her strength just to keep her eyes open and to look at Gale as he spoke to her. Something was what? There was something there? What?
Unsure of what he was talking about, she slowly rose to her feet, her movement more sluggish than ever as she tried to follow after Gale. "I'll try.."

Everything that happened, seemed to happen in an a flash. By the time the doll had realized what had happened, she was already off in a different location, away from that Jack awful horsemen and his ghoulfriend. Glancing about the area, she hoped to spot Gene, Bix, or even that female hunter from before. Had they all been brought here? For what purpose.
The presence of the ghoul in the apron didn't go unnoticed. She almost.. was that the ghoul she had seen in the haunted house, with Bul? Why was she back? Blinking, she turned her attention away from the ghoul and looked to see what was happening a little further in the distance.

The sudden change of the environment didn't scare AJ until a ghoul like figure arrived from the fog. However, she wasn't a really ghoul, but surrounded by strangely distorted greys. Recalling what he experienced in the Christmasland, he believed she was some sort of boss. She was speaking something about presents and so, but AJ was far enough not to get that. There was a big vortex underneath her, with fog-made elves trying to drag all of them into it.
"Hiya, Shun!" He was kinda happy to see they are safe, not dragged into the vortex like the head priestess figure.
