guardian_rose Recursive Paradox Yeaaaaaah... love and peace are definitely not major parts or even minor parts of Etherism. First, what is Etherism? Not heard of that one before. Second, I believe I said most. There will always be an exception. ANd Tea challenged you to prove that true for 51% of world religions. Go. Quote: @ Fiddlers Green: You mean the victory sign? Did you know that sign is considered a gang sign now? This is according to the Alaska Anti-gang unit in our state troopers. See this peace sign? It's also "two." It's also "******** you bloody Frog"

It's also "******** you bloody Frog" you're a little late to this party. 1. I don't really care that Tea challenged me. 2. I already said that I was planning on rethinking my stance. As far as the gang stuff goes, yeah, thats true. However it all depends on the situation. If you fit the profile, the police will stop you and ask you a few questions. All about context.

The problem is that "context" allows for profiling. Which is why it's off base.

TeaDidikai The problem is that "context" allows for profiling. Which is why it's off base. Did you know that black people (men, women, and in one case a 12 year old girl) have been arrested by police when APBs for white people went out? Racism. 8( I hates it.

It's amazing how often racism comes up in a guild about paganism, no?

Part of the idea that one can co-opt a cultural tradition which is alien and different because it appeals to us is woven in and through systemic racism. Hel, look at all the people who want to be g~ and wear g~ clothes! They aren't ACTUALLY interested in the Roma; they want the shiny, dancey, fringe-dwelling fun parts without the reality that living on the fringe actually often sucks a lot, lots of people you love die, and you often don't get basic needs met because people are assholes. A version of safe slumming; you don't even have to be around "those people".

guardian_rose You mean the victory sign? Did you know that sign is considered a gang sign now? This is according to the Alaska Anti-gang unit in our state troopers. There are lots of signs that are considered gang signs. The Swastika has also suffered horribly for it's use by certain groups. I'm not terribly surprised, altho it does amuse me a bit. Each state, nationality, even municipality may have different signs of such a nature. I am not a member of any gang, altho some of my public interest groups and unsanctioned town-watch may be considered so. The intention was as given from context, a Whimsical and stubborn ascertain of the belief that the world can be a nice place, despite over-whelming evidence to the contrary. Vash is sorta my anime hero. Such pluck, such determination, such quixotic refusal to accept the harsh realities of the world. Recursive Paradox Ethics vs. Ingrained Culture. Epic cagefight. My head. Sunday, 3 dollars (Canadian) a ticket. Be there. Will it be on Pay per View? surprised

Fafnir appears in the Volsunga saga. My recollection of the myth was that he was changed into a dragon to guard the hoard of gold he loved so much. He was killed by Sigard.
