"The amulets have limited magical power in them." Ava began once everyone had seized an amulet. "They do not rely on your magical skill. To use them, you simply need to both be in danger and touch it. The amulet will sense your desire and attack the force for you." She paused, lifting the lone amulet left behind.
"There are two types of amulets that do not attack. One creates a brief barrier that can not be penetrated for five seconds, and the other can heal minor wounds. You can tell which amulet does what by--" She paused, again, tapping the sole amulet and muttering faintly under her breath. The amulets each glowed a bright white before changing from their usual silver to a brand new color. "-- their color."
[Note: Look below and compare the number you RNGed to the number here. You will find the element and color of your amulet here.] 1. Red = Fire magic 2. Blue = Water magic 3. Yellow = Electric magic 4. Soft blue = Wind magic 5. Pink = Healing magic 6. Purple = Barrier magic 7. Red = Fire magic 8. Blue = Water magic 9. Yellow = Electric magic 10. Soft blue = Wind magic
"They will not activate unless you are in trouble." Ava lifted a lone knife. "These are simple knives." She stated. "I hope we will not need to use the amulets, but this is for just in case. Please wear them and keep them on you at all times." She stepped away from the door, opening it to reveal a room that seemed far bigger than one could imagine from the size of the door. Inside it were beds, tables, shelves full of chests, a small kitchen, and another door that could be assumed went to either another massive studio or a bathroom.
"Now, we'll move into here. The door can be hidden, and the hall won't go straight into the room. It'll be safer now that they know what direction the bunker is in. I want freshlings to first begin moving in, and then we'll move to juniors, seniors, and staff." She hesitated, eyes on the fallen students. "Staff, please help me try and move those injured out of the bunker."
What to Do: With Annabelle out of commission, Aten has stepped up to take her place and is now in charge of the freshling students. All freshlings must follow Aten to the new hiding place.
Seniors and juniors can help Aten guide the freshlings into the room, or try to help Ava and the staff with the injured individuals. Those who were bitten recently can still move about on their own, but still cannot hold their knife or amulet. At this point, it's become obvious that they will eventually face the same fate as those bitten in their escape from the attacks on the university and safehouses.
The passed out infected remain locked in their dreams- or rather, nightmares. The images they see torment them, growing worse by the minute as they seem to touch upon every deep rooted fear they possess. An ever increasing feeling of alienation rises as a theme among these dreams. Despite the onslaught, they remain mostly still. Yuki still cannot do anything for them.
The next update will be posted February 4th.

Chunli half-heartedly listened to Ava explain the amulets. Something about color and desire. Despite sitting down, diziness was washing over her again and again. If only whoever was spinning the room could have stopped. Groaning softly, Chunli opened her water and sipped at it. The cold was relieving, but it only served to twist her stomach more. Ah, probably dehydrated. Stomach cramps and nausea were common after drinking water... Too bad, while the cramps would abate, it seemed like the nausea was going to stay.
"I did... Might as well be armed for the both of us, huh?" It seemed like a good idea, after all, what could go wrong? A lot of things. They were moving into a new room, though it was Freshling's first. "Guess we're next after the small fries. Think you can walk, Ruby?"

Not one to pray to the nine, either in demand or thanks (not when they weren't out of danger yet...) Astra instead squeezed at the amulet she'd been given before slipping it on, looking at the golden glow, and fancying she felt a faint, almost static-like buzz from the thing as she did so. Electricity, ironically enough, was the magic she'd found she had the most affinity with– it was practical, it was natural, and the feeling of controlling raw plasma was special indeed.
With a knife in her lap and a hand squeezed about her new charm, the sense of anticipation seemed almost unreal– kind of like the one she used to get after seeking out the cheap thrills of trick-or-treat or visiting haunted houses. "This is surreal," the junior murmured, quiet enough to maybe be missed by her companions. "There's really nothing to do but sit here, armed, is there? We're just... just waiting for these poor, tortured freaks to come and treat us all like some perverse buffet... supposing the sick don't turn on us and do that for them." Well, at least she had... a number of adults that would probably act as the first line of defense, two older boys that seemed invested in making sure that Astra didn't get hurt, and... a flitterat that seemed very much to like living in her shirt.
Louder, she spoke up, addressing the other two– hopefully to head off any criticisms at her pessimistic view. "No matter what, though, we stay together?" it was phrased less strongly than she would have liked, less like a statement and more like a plea or question. Curse her fear, and the way it welled up in her chest, pushing back against her breath and making her stomach feel like a squeezed and tightened knot.
This night couldn't be over soon enough– her sister and father couldn't find her soon enough. She hoped they were okay.

Liam watched as his amulet glowed white, then changed into...pink. Out of all the different amulets, he'd gotten one of the healing ones. He slipped it on with a slight sigh. Well, it would probably be useful. He was pretty tough and had always relied more on his strength than his magic. No point switching that up now, though he wondered if he ought to start taking more classes when this whole mess was over. He'd never been much of a knife fighter either, though he did have a general idea of how to fight with one. Knives tended to come in handy anyway. "Sounds like a good plan to me," Liam said, smiling a little. "Assuming the people here don't have any more special tricks up their sleeves and we've hit a stale mate, it'll probably get really boring really fast in here. Waiting around for something to happen is the worst." He glanced over at the first aid station, with the various wounded people passed out. "Guess being bored is better than the alternatives. Just gotta warn you that my people skills aren't the greatest, in case we're stuck for a while. If I start being a jerk just punch me or something to let me know."

Chervil paused in administrating his first aid to listen to the instructions regarding the amulets they had all just obtained. He felt a stab of anxiety as the amulets began to reveal their abilities, then let out a small breath of relief as his glowed a soft blue, and as he clutched it in his hand, he felt an exhalation, as though the amulet was relieved as well. He felt as a dryad that he could do something substantial with wind, but if his had turned the deep ember red of fire.......that would have been awkward, to say the least. He wasn't sure if he could use such a thing, even in the most dire of emergencies, and the way they made it sound, each user might have only a limited amount of control over the power that would be unleashed. In any case, while he hoped to not use it, he was glad to have it.
He heard the plan to move into the more spacious bunker, and he remembered his little friend hiding in the boxes. Hoping that Fio hadn't done any lasting harm, he walked over to the hiding place. "They're moving us somewhere else now; won't you come out? You can come join me and my friends if you want." He then walked back to where Adalyn was resting, and nodded at Ilya. "I think we all feel the same way. It's frustrating when you want to help, but the nature of this thing is so elusive that we can only do so much. But we shall do what we can, and for me that means staying here and helping for as long as I can."Forgot to quote you guys on my last post; sorry! OAO

Lawven had wanted one of the pretty trinkets that were handed out, but nooooo - only the BIG kids got them. Huffing to herself, the small bakeneko watched as they all shuffled around and collected their things. Though... There were other scarier events happening around her. Like the fact people had fainted. Or the weird black stuff that was crawling up their body.
Would that happen to all of them? Lawven shuddered at the thought, and tried to push it far, far, far from her mind.
Ava said they were going into a new room, so she stood behind Aten and followed him in, still displeased that the headmistress had ignored her story and that Anabelle wasn't back yet.

Coco got up she would accept an amulet she hoped she would be able to gather enough strength to help since she was at least awake. Unlike the ones who had been bitten in the first attack. Coco was still afraid. She still got up, Vanna said they weren't going to die. So she was holding on to that hope that Vanna was right and somehow things would turn out ok. Coco sighed minor wounds, she wondered if seal her bite wound would be a good idea or a bad idea. Would it help her heal or would it seal in whatever bacteria or maybe poison had made the bitten sick and now unconscious. Coco held the yellow amulet, She wasn't sure what to do with the knife since she had little experience with them.

Eilwen gave Vanna a small smile at what he had to say. He would always be her Big Brother. They might not be related, but he was definitely like family to her. That included Mai as well. She didn't think she'd ever fit in with other Chimera, but Vanna had helped her cope with those insecurities. She might not be able to fly, but she was still one of them. "Thanks, brother." They made their way over to the healing station and she looked over at Coco as she asked her question.
She didn't know how to respond, but at least Vanna did. She knew it could be a lie, they didn't know what had infected them. It was hard to imagine that they'd turn into one of those creatures. More likely it was some sort of disease they carried from the...experiments. The thought made her shudder as she sat down and let someone look over her wound. The best they could really do for her was clean up the blood and wrap it up. There were others around her that had passed out from their wounds. That was going to happen to her eventually....
When they were told they could also receive and amulet and knife she selected her two before they were put aside for her. She really didn't think she'd have the chance to use them. More then likely she'd pass out and if she woke up after that...well she didn't really want to think about it too hard. At least it was there if she did need it.

Baum looked down at the amulet. It had turned a yellow color. He was kind of happy it wasn’t fire. After all he had fire down pretty much being a Chimera. Yellow meant another type of magic and that meant more things in his arsenal, although he hoped that he didn’t have to use it at all. He kind of wished one of those things would just appear so that he could punch them in the face. However it would send half the… okay most of the room into a panic and no matter how much he wanted to punch them it wasn’t worth the hysteria. He slipped the amulet on and moved back to Ms. Elf. He had really wished he gotten her name before the sickness won its battle. What would be the next step? Would they start dying? Would they start acting like a horror movie like some of the people in the bunker were saying? He turned towards Ms. Elf’s familiar. Huh he hadn’t seen it before but then flitterats were small things. It was probably very worried as well. He wished he could tell it things would get better, but things weren’t getting better, not in the least.

He smiled back at Eilwen’s words and wished he could be happier towards them, not that he wasn’t super happy. It was just this whole situation was sucky. As he went about getting his wounds patched up, especially his ribs and tail he looked over to where Miss Ava was handing out amulets. He didn’t think it would do him any good especially if he was going to succumb to this stupid thing, but when he did wake up… and he was going to put all of his belief into waking up again, it would be nice to have a weapon again. His carving knife had been left in the chest of that creature. Ugh that probably wasn’t the best idea. Then again the police really couldn’t fault him right? Looking down at the amulet he noticed it turned blue. Blue would be water magic. He had to raise a hand to stop his chuckles. While it seemed to be the same color as Kingston’s it was luckily not fire and no one would expect a chimera to be carrying something water based. The irony and his state of health were making it way funnier than it should be. Sobering up, he looked over to the unconscious people. They all seemed to have the type of posture and face of those trapped in nightmares if the frowns on some of them were any indication. Yay… what fun to look forward to? It was then another thought occurred to him “Kingston, if my phone rings. Answer it if I can’t, and whoever is on the other line… lie through your teeth please. Especially if it’s Mai.” Vanna asked. He didn’t need any of his men or his little sister where ever she was learning of his condition, especially when there was nothing they could do.

Faces turned from her no matter where she looked. Adults pretending she was little more than a shadow. Being punished when she sought attention, until she effectively became the shadow they all thought of her as. All she wanted was a bit of love. A hug, maybe some encouraging words every now and then. With every turn she was only met by scorn and loneliness. Damn them all. They wanted a silent shadow, that's what they'd get. And soon they'd see there was nowhere they could hide their dirty little secrets where the shadows couldn't get to them!Arabelle groaned softly without coming to, as one nightmare faded into another. Her fingers twitched a little and her head shifted as she curled her body slightly. Eloi shifted a little on her leg, looking up at Baum curiously. He knew something wasn't quite right, but he wasn't sure what. She'd hoped to get a fresh start, somewhere new without all the power jockeying. But the looks she got were the same everywhere. Daydreams and Nightmares alike all looked down their noses at an Elf. Sure there were a couple people who'd been courteous, even friendly, but Arabelle was sure they were all just throwing pity at her. What were smiles and meaningless pleasantries worth, anyway? What did she have to show for any of their so-called "kindness"? As scenes from her daily life played out, Arabelle found herself withdrawing more and more, feeling that smoldering resentment always in the back of her mind, and growing.

Enomu wasn't in the least impressed to be disturbed, and puffed up when Chervil moved Kuroi aside to talk to him. They were moving somewhere else. He didn't want to move. If no one else was there, maybe no one would even look for him....but maybe they would. Ears pressed flat, he slowly crawled out, clutching Kuroi. He went to retrieve Shiroi and then followed Chervil back to his friends, one plushie under each arm.
He didn't get too close to the others, keeping Chervil between him and the others. One stranger was quite enough, thank you. Still, this stranger was taking care of him, and since he was the first one to bother since his parents died, Enomu was getting a bit of an attachment, even if it was still just a tentative one. Nothing good ever lasted, he'd learned that the hard way and there certainly wasn't anything good about the general goings on right then.

If Eirian was honest, most of the night had gone by in a haze. They hadn't expected to be so affected by the sight of the wounds on the survivors that had entered the Academy. Turns out, they were not one for blood. The last thing Eirian vividly remembers is walking down the dark corridor to the underground bunker. The comfort circle set up by Kirket had been nice and really allowed Eirian a chance to socialize, as they do best, but they soon found it more upsetting than anything. Eirian needed postitive energy, not more fear and sadness. So they had ducked out of the circle before the familiars had even made the rounds. The bunker had been quiet off and on, flitterrats had been found, and a child had gone missing. Eirian had felt bad for not joining in on that adventure, but when the search party finally did arrive, they felt a little relieved that they had. Then they felt guilty for feeling relieved. Ms. Ava was obviously shaken up by what she had seen and because Ms. Annabelle was still out there. It was hard to sort out the hybrid's emotions. Those all with injuries kept getting worse, until some started to pass out. Eirian didn't like the way their wounds were looking. There was some weird vein-y blackness spreading across their bodies. It made Eirian's skin crawl. It came to no surprise when Ms. Ava decided to arm the older students. Eirian wasn't normally one for fighting, but they would much rather be able to protect themselves and others if need be. Eirian's magic wasn't all that good despite being half geist and they definitely weren't a healer, which might be something needed in a fight. Once armed, they did their best to help usher the nervous freshlings into the new part of the bunker. Eirian personally felt that looked more inviting then the part they were already in. They also hoped that maybe a bed would help them sleep as they could feel their eyelids were heavy, but the fear made it hard to close their eyes. [[ *arrives fashionably late with Starbucks* RNGing late for the amulet's color... *snorts* I was hoping for anything but healing magic, so this figures. oh, well, let's see how this goes. Eirian appreciates the pink, at least. ]]

Things did not get better, in Roshan's opinion. The bunker was confusing and full of commotion and scared voices. Roshan decided it was best to stay out of the way for it all. They didn't like the idea of Ms. Annabelle leaving, but Freshlings' opinions didn't matter. They then tried their best to sleep, feeling very tired, but had trouble staying asleep. Then the commotion of the returning group of kids who had gone searching for a missing child. They didn't look so good... Neither did some of the other kids who had been hurt. It all wasn't looking good. Roshan was especially upset to hear Ms. Annabelle hadn't returned. They were stunned as the older kids got up to take the things Ms. Ava was offering. Roshan was startled when a senior started pushing them toward a new doorway. They almost didn't want to move, but then they saw a familiar form. "Lawven!" Roshan shouted before bounding over to the bakeneko. They smiled at their friend and waved, unsure if they were one for hugs. "I wondered where you were. I'm so happy to see you."[[ Fixed the misspelling of bakeneko. ]]Magician Arcana Mind if Roshan joins Lawven again? biggrin

Hu looked down at hus amulet as it turned red, tears falling even more as hu thought more of Somansh. Yihad still wasn't sure how hu felt about her, but for sure hu cared a lot for her and liked her more than just a friend. Hu probably had a crush, but maybe it was more ", Somansh..." hus eyes began to weild even more tears, keeping hus amulet close ", I... I like her a lot. If anything happened to her to where we couldn't be together, I don't know if I could handle it."
