With Kim Nguyet

The Dancer and the Dinosaur

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi, as usual, had been wandering around in the village, a napsack over her shoulder with her iPod playing, the speakers in her ears. She had been poking her head in various buildings, when she found what looked like a recreation room. Giant TV, game systems, walls of books...

Grinning to herself, she slipped inside, looking around quickly. Empty. Good.

She made her way to the TV, turning it on and quickly changing it to a music channel. Tossing her bag onto a chair, she stopped as she listened to the music coming on, Fergaliscious by Fergie.

As the music played, she let herself move. She hadn't tried to dance since the change, and was afraid to think she couldn't anymore... Balancing on her foot, she swung her arms around as she moved, eyes shut, her hips and belly moving in a sinuous way to the music.

Kim Nguyet
However, it was rare that the entertainment room stayed empty for too long.

Out of her "daze" and a change of clothes later, Kim was heading right there, probably to see if there where any new movie or anime there. It was usually kept pretty well updated, after all. She was a sight almost identical to the girl that had come a few minutes first - ipods letting out some kind of techno from the new headphones she had requested from the labs, since earbuds where obiviously out of question since her last change.

She stopped at the door when she first head music other than her own, then, looking at the blue haired girl for a moment, pondered if she should simpely go on her way or not. Her animal instincts wanted her to socialise, but the more rational side didn't want to disturb the girl.

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi didn't notice the woman standing in the doorway; a determined frown suffused her face as she moved, the song changing to "Everytime we touch" by Cascada, and her moves changing pace. She leant backwards, her back an arch, a move that was usually easy enough to do, but the blueberry overbalanced, and fell over on her back; her knees hadn't bent the right way, her raised ankle threw her off.

It was when she was picking herself up, wincing slightly since she had scraped her back on the floor, and her tanktop wasn't exactly the thickest material, that she saw her in the door frame. A small blush rose to her cheeks, her pale skin turning a nice, rosy red. "Errm, volat..."

Kim Nguyet
Kim simpely leaned against the doorframe after a moment, opting to at least be confortable in her indecision, but this was quickly brought to an end. She had taken a few steps in as the girl fell, but it was too little too late, and now she was spotted.

At least it spared her the decision, perhaps ?

"Vo-what ?" Was the first thing that came out of her mouth, which almost made her facepalm. "Geez, I mean... you're allright ?"

She did seem a bit embarassed herself.

Shenzi Thompson
The blush slowly faded, leaving the faintest pink tinge on the girl's cheeks. "Uh, sorry. I'm Shenzi..." She said, grinning sheepishly. "Uhm, yeah, I'm fine..." Was her mumbled answer as she stood up, shaking herself before looking back at the woman. Which caused a frown to form on her face again. She was definately changed, but what the hell was she?

"Uhm, and you are?"

Kim Nguyet
"Kim." She answered, taking note of the frown but not doing anything to answer the unspoken question. The reactions she had gotten when revealing her animal where... rarely pleasant, and she prefered not to run after trouble. If the girl asked, she would find a way to answer - but this wouldn't be an information she would give out too freely for now on.

"Hm... you dance well." And, that was the only thing she found to say, apparently.

Shenzi Thompson
"Nice to meet you, Kim." She said, smiling cheerfully enough as she rubbed the back of her neck. "Eh, thanks. It's what I do for a living, and if Sabin ******** that up with this goddammed feet, then... I dunno." Shenzi shrugged indifferently, though that was anything but how she felt. Dancing was her life, and right now she was just hoping it was because she wasn't completely used to the feet.

Kim Nguyet
"Oh, I understand. Completely." She did not know of this Sabin character, but she wasn't too willing to meet him, from the girl's comments. She held up an hand. "Can you imagine typing on a computer with hands like that ? A nightmare." And it would only get worse. But she did her best not to think about that.

"Maybe its just that you're not getting used to it, however." She commented. So far, her feet hadn't really changed much - just got tougher skin and claws that made ruining an hardwood floor quite easy.

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi made a face, wrinkling her nose slightly. "And my feet'll just be getting worse, damn it all." She let out a gusty sigh, before grinning crookedly. "Can still sing though. Gryphon lungs shouldn't change my voice for the worse."

"I'm hoping that's the case, since dancing and singing are the only things I'm good at." She said, waving a hand in the air while sitting down in a chair. "So what d'you like, Kim?"

Kim Nguyet
Wait... had she just said... ? Kim looked confused for a moment. A gryphon ? How was that possible ?

Probably the same way a dragon is possible. She thought. Or the same way they found pterodactyl dna. Don't ask don't tell.

"Gryphon ? Wow." She blinked. "Well... I went in college to program games, but I don't really have the equipment and programs to do it here. So I guess I play them. Especially Dance Dance Revolution lately..." Oh, the irony. "And I kind of started up on fishing. Long story." Didn't help that her hair where still sightly damp.

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi nodded, glowering at the floor as she thought of her future. "Pft, yeah. It's bitter irony, because I'm half Czech, not entirely willingly either. And the symbols of Czech are the eagle and the lion." She shook her head, shoving away that thought again.

"Game programing? Isn't that hard?" Banzai had thought about games at one point, but had stopped that dream quickly, after learning math was needed. "How old are you?" She asked, her head tilted to the side.

Kim Nguyet
"Yeah, it is. As frustrating as it can get sometimes, I couldn't see myself doing anything else." She said, blowing a bang of black hair out of her eyes. "22. Almost 23... Man, im getting old." She said, with a bit of a laugh. "What about you ?"

"You know, im starting to think those doctors love irony. I don't know which one of them woke up one morning and said "Hey, let's change a nerd into a pterodactyl !" and thought it was funny, but I fail to see the humor."

...Wasn't that supposed not to be said ? Oh. Oops.

Shenzi Thompson
"Oh, that's not that old. Not quite ancient." She said teasingly, laughing under her breath. "I'm 18, as of last month. November 12th."

Shenzi raised an eyebrow at the mention of a pterodactyl. "Makes sense, now that you said it... Can't say I envy you." She said sympathetically. "It's like they choose a small handful of people to pick on. Like, let's see who can be more creative! Bah..."

Kim Nguyet
"What a youngin." She teased in return, grinning. "Seems like so long ago I was 18... Heh. I was just starting college back then. Great, im ranting like an old granny now." She laughed again, before becoming more serious. "Oh, and January 20, if you're wondering. And Vietnamese, not that you can really tell anymore."

"It sure seems to be that way... But there has to be a more complicated system in place. A way to make sure none of the dissapairances get linked to each other and cause suspicion... But bah." She shrugged. "Unless it's DDR, I suck at dancing." She said, visibely wanting to lead the conversation in another direction.

Shenzi Thompson
"Can't say I've met a vietnamese before, and I've met alot've people. I live in New York, so I see alot." She said, bringing her tone down to a confidential whisper, as if it were some intense secret, before laughing.

Shenzi mulled over that idea, chewing her lip as she thought. "Well, my parents sent me here 'cus they heard it was some kind've rehab, that went about things differently then most." She shrugged slightly; she was still marginally pissed at her parents for sending her a week before her birthday.

She grinned sympathetically. "I could show you some moves, if you'd like. Can't guarantee they'd be any good, since I think I might fall over."

Kim Nguyet
"I was sent for medical therapy. Seems there's quite a few invented stories to get people in..."

She went sillent for a moment. It did sound like fun, even if she was probably going to make an idiot out of herself. "Well, at least im close enough that I will probably catch you if you fall..."

Shenzi Thompson
"I've heard people coming to interview the doctors, looking for long lost siblings, all sorts of stuff."

Shenzi smiled encouragingly, her smile making her face prettier then the frown. "That's true too. But it'll be fun." She looked back at the TV; the music had continued going while they spoke, and right now it was playing an older song, "Get Busy" by Sean Paul. "This is a good song to dance to." Shenzi grinned again, standing up from the chair while pushing it out've the way.

Kim Nguyet
Kim wasn't really familliar with the song, but she had to agree. "Does sounds like it..." She started clearing out things herself, oddly finding herself looking forward to this little dance lesson. As long as no one else saw this.

Shenzi Thompson
Moving the chairs nearest the TV, Shenzi leaned against the back of one, so she could move without necassarily falling over. "Okay. First off, you let your body just kinda move to the music. Just do what seems to go with the melody, or follow what I do. I'll go slow, so it won't be hard." She said with a friendly grin as she started moving her hips, her arms in front of her. She moved her hips from side to side, giving them a small twitch for each word the rapper sang.

Kim Nguyet
Kim simpely watched for a moment. If moving the feet where involved, maybe it would have bean easier since she could just fall back on the basics DDR had given her. Her movements where slower then Shenzi's, and overall a bit more reserved. She focused on following the girl's lead for the moment.

Shenzi Thompson
"Yeah, just like that. Do that till it feels natural, or easier at least. Usually, wearing well fitting clothes helps too, especially if you want a guy or girl to notice you." She said, grinning at Kim. "This song is better for quick movements, alot've a** shaking. Other ones are better for slow stuff, more sexy stuff."

Kim Nguyet
Now, this wasn't exactly what she had been expecting, and in any other situation, she would probably found the irony funny.

She was being taught how to attract by a girl almost 5 years younger than she was. But there was nothing she could really answer to that. She didn't really know how to physically attract another person. Her only attempt had ended in failure and she had no desire to ever try again. But it was another time, almost eons ago, in a state she would never go back to, to a best friend she would never see again. She felt... oddly detached.

"Right." She said softly, then closed her eyes, listening to the music. Move, follow the beat... Listen to what the beat is saying, project it on yourself...

Just as she was no longer paying attention to her movements was when everything chained together. Her feet vent into motions as she continued moving her hips, twiling around without really noticing it.

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi stopped moving as Kim shut her eyes, spinning to the music. Grinning, she pushed herself onto the arm of the chair, watching Kim twirl. She really was quite pretty, and her hair flipping about made for a nice picture. Tilting her head to the side, Shenzi occasionally made an encouraging comment, as the music changed to a different song, one she hadn't heard before, but it had a slower melody.

Kim Nguyet
If she was hearing them, Kim wasn't giving too much hint of it, beside the continued dancing. As the music slowed, so she did instinctively, opening her eyes again. Was it... why all those people liked dancing ? It really did feel nice... And liberating, really.

When she realized she was the only one dancing, however, that's when the corkblock happened. Her face went from green-ish to a somewhat red color as she stopped, tilting her head in a bit of embarrassment. "Uh... was that good... ?"

With Gaius Harper

Theater Rennovations

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi approached the construction site, looking around with a critical eye. Not much had been done so far, not that she could see at least. After Billy mentioned that Gaius was overseeing the building of the theater, she had decided to check it out. And she had only seen Gaius the one time with Brian, then thanksgiving.

Shrugging to herself, she carefully walked through the dirt, not caring if her feet got muddy, in a short green skirt and a close fitting striped shirt, with her hat pulled down over her hair, her hair combed over her ears, though the feathered tips still stuck out. She couldn't see him anywhere, but he might be somewhere else.

Gaius Harper
Gaius, to his credit, had abandoned the saw to help Marshall with the digging, loading the extra dirt into a wheelbarrow. Setting aside his shovel, the big guy trundled the dirt away to where it'd be dumped on the side until it was needed for packing in foundations.

He didn't notice Shenzi at first, despite her colorful clothing, too caught up in his work. It felt good to be productive again and doing what he'd always loved. He was so happy, in fact, he couldn't help but whistle a little Christmas tune, in light of the season, though the tropical sun and balmy atmosphere certainly didn't feel like the kind of Christmas the Eastern Coast boy was used to.

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi was about to leave, when she finally saw Gaius pushing along a wheelbarrow full of dirt. Raising an eyebrow, she hopped over to walk behind him; he hadn't seen her yet. Grinning to herself, the dirt under her feet muffling her steps, she followed after him step for step, only a few inches behind him as she grinned, her tail swinging behind her. But when he started whisteling, she couldn't help but laugh. She held it in, but a small titter still came out.

Gaius Harper
One of his ears twitched indignantly and he stopped suddenly in his steps, causing the girl to crash into his back. He let out a yelp, head swinging around to try and see what'd made the noise and was assaulting him from the rear, and finally spun around to see Shenzi. His surprised expression faded to a warm grin as he quickly recognized the uniquely-dressed young woman.

"Ah! ...Sarah!" he flubbed, memory for names failing him once again. "It's good to see you! Doing alright with laundry and all now?" He chuckled, taking a moment to settle the wheelbarrow down properly before turning back.

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi plowed into his back as he stopped moving, and she smacked her nose on his spine. Rubbing her nose with the back of her hand, she grinned at Gaius, though it turned into a small smirk, accompanied by a raised eyebrow when he adressed her. "Sarah? Since when's my name Sarah?" She grinned again, laughing under her breath. "The laundry is doing well enough, it thanks you kindly for asking." Shenzi said, leaning against the now stationary wheelbarrow.

Gaius Harper
Gaius' ears flattened back as he winced. "Crud! Sorry... I didn't mean to mess up your name... it does start with an S, right? Maybe an Sh... Sharon?" He looked down at her, hoping she'd take mercy on the doofus and just tell him the right name again. There were so many people he'd only run into briefly on this island, it was hard to keep everyone straight, unless they really looked unusual...

"So, uh, what brings you over to the construction site?" he asked, perking back up. "Come to help with the building? I don't know that we have anything a girl like you would want to do right now..."

Shenzi Thompson
She crossed an arm across her stomach, tapping her chin with a finger, the crooked grin broadening. "Mm, closer, but not quite. It is an s-h name." Shenzi said, a small laugh under her breath. This was certainly more entertainment then she'd had recently, most definately more so then the day before, with dear Mr. Octopus.

To his question, she shrugged indifferently. "Billy said you were managing the construction for the theater. Went for an audition yesterday at the lake." And she frowned, remembering that encounter. One that didn't go over so well. Shaking her head, she gave Gaius a pretty smile, waving a hand. "And I got bored. What, do I need a reason to hunt down a pegasus?"

Gaius Harper
Gaius sighed in defeat, wings slumping as he folded his arms. No mercy today, she was enjoying this! "Hmph..."

Her mention of Billy brought a raised eyebrow. Somehow the idea of her dealing with that surly, slimey character unnerved him, but she seemed to have come away from it alright. "You did? Audition? That's great!" he said, breaking into a smile. "What kind of performance?" He shrugged away the bored comment, tilting his head down a bit. Ah, pegasus. That label had brought him some serious trouble recently... But that was something he didn't want to dwell on, not here. The momentary darkening of his eyes cleared and he was his friendly self again. "Was it dancing?"

Shenzi Thompson
Finally, the blueberry relented with a grin. "Shenzi Thompson."

Interpreting the raised eyebrow, she responded with a roll of her eyes. "Nothing happened. He offered the fact that bribes worked with him, that I was a little young for him." She stuck her tongue out, wrinkling her nose in disgust. But that changed to a grin with his other question. "Yeah, mostly dancing, and some singing." Her face darkened into a glower then as she stared at the dirt. "Told me to go get a band then come back." The glare disappeared, and she shrugged. She was still peeved at the slime ball for that comment.

Gaius Harper
"Shenzi!" He snapped his fingers. "That was it! I should've known it was something weird..."

The description of the encounter with Billy made Gaius facepalm and groan. What kind of man would say that kind of stuff to a young lady, hell, a teen like Shenzi? It just wasn't proper! "Geeze, I'm sorry... he is a bit of a slimeball... glad nothing happened, though. Just... yeah. He's kinda unpredictable, so be careful, but I think he means well."

"As for a band," he brightened up, "I think that'd be fun! I mean, there are others on the island who like to do that kind of stuff, and it'd be great to see a performance up on stage..." He looked back at the frown and faultered, rubbing the back of his long neck. "Er, that is, if you don't mind performing with others..."

Shenzi Thompson
She raised an eyebrow, giving an unladylike snort. "Gee, thanks." She said dryly, before grinning again.

"Yeah, literally and metaphorically. He was mumbling about getting poles to dance with." She said, the grin getting somewhat wider as she laughed. "And do I mind? Not at all. I have a band with my two buddies in New York, though I guess that's kinda gone now. But I havn't met anyone here that seems to be able to hold a note. Granted, I havn't exactly gone around asking, but yeah." And the teenager shrugged slightly.

Gaius Harper
"No offense meant," Gaius grinned back.

He looked confused, one ear twitching back as he asked, "Hm, why would you need poles for dancing? ...Oh! Does he mean like those Chinese acrobats?" Gaius held up his hands, spread apart, as if he was holding a staff horizontally, in demonstration. "Where they do the flips and stuff?"

It hadn't occured to him just what Billy had been thinking of with pole dancing. In his mind, it was far cleaner, with graceful flips and stunts. He grinned excitedly. "That'd be really cool if we had something like that here!"

Gaius Harper
Gaius' cheerful, boyish grin slipped, slowly sagging as Shenzi laughed loudly. What had he said? Not like acrobats? He frowned slightly, ears quirking up as he listened, his eyes widening. "S-stripping?!" he stammered, a blush crossing his cheeks. And Billy had suggested that to her? He facepalmed again, red-faced at both the idea, and that he hadn't known what the implications were. "Er, uh, I-I don't think that kind of performance would be appropriate for a girl your age..."

Shenzi Thompson
She was laughing still, grinning broadly. "Not really, considering where I grew up. In New York city, there's inappropriateness of all kind, most of it happening with people younger then me. Mind, I'm not about to go yanking my skirt down just to get an audition, and I'm definately not doing a pole dance either. Only for select people." She said with a wink, laughing lightly. "But nah, that's not my sort of dancing, anyways."

Gaius Harper
Gaius grumbled something as Shenzi continued to laugh. It still wasn't right! He gave a light snort and shook his head. "Good! 'Cause if that's what Billy is... er..." He blushed, blinking. Shenzi's little add-on had caught him off guard. Had she winked? He must have imagined that. It took his mind a minute to recover from the derailing and he straightened up a bit. "Uh, right, I'm sure you've got something better... still, I think it'd be fun to get a lot of people performing. Maybe we could put on a musical, you know?"

Turning back to the wheelbarrow behind him, Gaius hefted up the handles with a grunt. "Of course, we have to get this stage built first! And we've only just begun!" His feet dug into the ground as he pushed and began trundling it towards the edge of the perimeter again. "Maybe you can help afterwards with costumes or something," he suggested. "I don't think they have anyone working on stuff like that yet!"

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi looked thoughtful at that suggestion. "A musical might be fun. Assuming we had enough people that could actually sing. I know I can, but I can't say for anyone else. And costumes might cause problems, what with some people having tails and everything." She said, raising an eyebrow as she followed after him, occasionally hopping over a clump of dirt.

"Maybe. I've only ever done my own outfits, and my bandmembers, and that's never been musical-worthy costumes, just stuff that matches with each other." And she shrugged. "Maybe if the island had a fashion designer or something.

Gaius Harper
Gaius' cheeks flushed a bit as Shenzi mused on singers, and he was glad he had his back to her so she couldn't see. Truth was, he was a good singer himself, but no way he'd ever admit that to anyone... He hated singing in front of others. It was his stage fright.

"Well, I'm sure any sewing ability would be appreciated... I'll have to see if Billy's found anyone to manage that kind of stuff yet, though. I mean, I don't even know what kind of performances he has lined up yet!"

The wheelbarrow lurched to a stop as he reached his destination and planting a foot against the wheel to steady it, tipped the thing forward to let the dirt tumble out in a pile. Then down came the wheelbarrow and he backed up, swiveling the thing around to head back the way he'd came. "It's too bad this got started up so late... It would've been fun to have a Christmas pageant or something," he chuckled. "Like back in school and all."

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi thought back as he mentioned Billy again. "Well, he said I was the first one to audition, so I highly doubt he's found anyone yet. Especially since I don't think anyone will show so they can sew on stage." She grinned slightly.

"When I think christmas pageant, I think of the stuff the church always does, making these little kids dress up as Mary and Joseph, and half the time they can't remember their lines, but their moms and dads are too busy shouting, "HEY! That's my kid up there!"" She said with a roll of her eyes.

Gaius Harper
"Hehe, yeah..." Gaius' smile continued to be warm as they walked. What Shenzi rolled her eyes at, Gaius remembered fondly. It was hard to get into the Christmas spirit with all that was going on around them... but maybe there was some way he could help...

"I should probably get back to make sure Marshall hasn't chopped off his foot with the shovel," he said, smiling apologetically at Shenzi. "I doubt he'd be happy if he caught me chatting with a pretty girl while he's slaving away!"

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi snorted again, grinning in response to the compliment. "I think if someone had chopped off their foot, we'd probably hear it." She said dryly, laughing. "There's nothing wrong with two pretty people conversing!" Shenzi said, dramatically clapping her hands to her heart, with a look of mock-affronted shock on her face.

Gaius Harper
The horse-man snickered, agreeing that Marshall would definitely have made a racket if that were the case. Now, if he'd somehow knocked himself out, that'd be a different matter...

There's nothing wrong with two pretty people conversing!

Gaius blinked. Wait, him?

Redness spread all across his cheeks and across his face, down his sizeable kneck as well, his face looking somewhere between a deer in the headlights and a bashful guy.

"U-um uh um I-I should be going gotta get back to work now see you!" he stammered out in a rush, hunkering over the wheelbarrow as he made a hasty escape back to the safety of his work. Oh lordy, he'd made such a fool of himself!

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi couldn't help but laugh as his face all but turned into a cherry. It was always fun setting a guy off balance, and Gaius was adorable in his awkwardness. Grinning to herself, she decided to let him retreat, instead hopping across the dirt and away from the construction site, back towards her duplex. At the edge of the grounds, though, she turned around, giving him a cheerful wave before walking away, a broad smile on her lips, her mood greatly elevated.

With Aislinn Derry

A Centaur Born

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi approached Aislinn's duplex, in a pair of heavy jeans despite the heat, and a plain white sports bra with a handkerchief keeping her hair back. Her tail swung through a hole ripped into the back of her pants.

She gently tapped on the door with a closed fist, calling out loudly. "Helloo!"

Aislinn_Derry
Aislinn had been sulking the majority of the day. The few hours of sleep she -had- managed to snag had been full of the same variety of horrifyingly awful dreams as she'd had before her first transformation. And, being no idiot, she realized that that meant she was probably facing her second.

So she'd stayed inside. It didn't hurt that she was feeling itchy too, and it felt like some of her hormones were out of whack, so she'd been sipping at raspberry tea and planning a nice long bath to soothe herself later on.

'Til then, it was Dynasty Warriors loaded up on the Playstation 2 to vent her frustration.

She heard the knock and looked at the door, sighing,
"Come in."

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi opened the door, sliding through with a friendly smile before shutting it behind her with a click. "Hullo." She gave the apartment a short look around, before plopping down next to Aislinn on the floor. "Just felt like saying hi."

It was when she was really looking at Aislinn that her smile faded a little bit. She looked tired, like she hadn't gotten too much sleep. "You alright, 'Linn?" She asked in concern.

Aislinn_Derry
The apartment itself wasn't much different from usual-- it was clean of dirt and such, but clothes were strewn about, as were books and other items of variety.

Aislinn looked up from the couch, peering at the other,
"Oh, hey 'Zi." She managed a weak smile,
"I'm..eh. I didn't get a lot of sleep last night. Rotten dreams. And I've been itchy, so I figured I'd better stay in today."

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi gave her a quick, sympathetic hug. "The tea helping?" She asked; she could smell it from the woman's cup. "What'd you dream? If you don't mind me asking." Shenzi grinned, sometimes it could help to talk about dreams. If you remembered them, that is.

Aislinn_Derry
Aislinn motioned to the tea set,
"Have some if you like. It always makes -me- feel better, anyhow,"

She set the controller down,
"I...I'd really rather not talk about it," she looked down, "Just suffice it to say they were pretty awful dreams."

She looked back at the screen,
"Want to play?"

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi gave her another brief hug, smiling encouragingly when she pulled back. "Alright. Makes sense, I guess. But you're better now, right? And yeah, some tea'd be great." She said, her smile turning to one of delight.

At the offer of the game, her grin turned to a more sheepish note. "Never played it before."

Aislinn_Derry
The woman shook her head,
"Not really. I still feel really off." In fact, she was starting to itch even -more- than she had in the morning. She shifted positions uncomfortably, and scratched at her legs,
"The game's not so hard. Just button-mashing, really."

Aislinn_Derry
Aislinn picked up the controller...and dropped it, her eyes getting wide. If she hadn't been wearing shorts the first part wouldn't have been quite as obvious, but as it was, one couldn't help but notice the hair on her legs growing thicker and courser, spreading all the way up to her hips until it looked as though she were half satyr.

Even as it fills out, though, Aislinn screams loudly as her vertebrae stretches, angling itself. Her stomach fills out larger and her toes come together forming hooves...until her bottom half strongly resembles that of the horse she's already realized she's turning into. Worse yet, however, two little horse hooves emerge from her abdomen-- as close to being four-legged as she'll get for now.

During all of this, she writhes on the floor, her hair growing longer and more gray, and her tail growing longer and hairier as well, until at last it's finished and she lies there, whimpering and in tears from the pain and memory of even worse pain...and unable to get -up- even if she were to try.

Aislinn_Derry
Aislinn buried her face into Shenzi's chest, weeping unashamedly. It didn't matter so much that she'd only known the other a few months at the most, she needed -someone- to comfort her, and hell, she was getting it. Besides, she did like the other woman, though it was still mortifying to have her here for this.

She bit her lip after a few minutes, trying to stop the tears,
"In..bathroom...ibuprofin.." she motioned towards the desired area. At least to get rid of the lingering ache in her back would be good. Though, she didn't think she was going to attempt getting up anytime soon.

Aislinn_Derry
Aislinn eagerly took the pills, still wiping away the remainder of the tears that had fallen just a few moments before. It was too humiliating to cry in front of others, but she hadn't been able to help it because of the pain.

...She'd cry over the rest of it later, when she was alone.

"Thanks," she said, for both the pillows, which she leaned back against, and the pills.

Shenzi Thompson
With her hands now free, she shifted her position so she was sitting down again, next to Aislinn, finally taking a good look at what had changed.

Her hair was longer, and whiter too. Her ears more pointed, but from the waist down she had the belly and legs of a horse... Shaking her head, she gave her friend a sympathetic look, after noticing the protrusions from her waist. "'Linn, I-I think you're gonna be a centaur..." She murmered softly, wanting her to hear, but at the same time not. It certainly made sense. She was turning into a horse, but so far her upper half seemed to be completely un-animalistic, though it was changing. And the lower half was getting longer, too...

Aislinn_Derry
Aislinn sighed, looking at the changes herself for the first time,
"I don't....I don't know," she sighed,
"At least for now I sort've am, no?"

She managed a weak smile, made a bit stronger by the painkillers working quickly,
"If only these horrible little hooves were larger, right?"

She was a freak. And disgusting. There was no way she'd be able to hide all of this. Not unless she starting wearing incredibly long and wide skirts or something, and even then it'd be pretty obvious.

She could at least wear long shirts to cover those little hooves, though. And re-dye her hair.

Gently, she brushed at the gray locks with her fingers,
"Maybe I'll go blue."

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi gave her another hug, just staying in that position for the moment, as Aislinn continued talking.

At the mention of blue, though, she grinned, pulling back. "That's the way to look at it. At least you won't need any bleach for it..."

Aislinn_Derry
"We can be, like, freakish sisters," she laughed, though there was still a bitterness in her tone. She did -not- like where this was going. Where her transformation was going anyhow. She was -ugly-.

"But hey, if I am, at least I'll get to keep half of my sexy bod," she joked. Yeah, the more laughter the better, maybe. ...or tea and incense. A hot bath was sort of out of the question right now.

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi raised an eyebrow, before grinning encouragingly, giving Aislinn a gentle noogie on the head. "Mm-hm! The Freak Sisters of the Blueberry Hair!" She said, striking a dramatic pose, but falling over due to her unbalanced self.

When she set herself right again, Shenzi stuck out her tongue. "At least you'll still look part human. I get to grow a beak and feathers." She said, wrinkling her nose.

Aislinn_Derry
"Well, that's assuming I'm not just turning into a regular old horse," she shivered,
"I might lose my arms next and then everything above the waist'll just turn into neck and head."

She let the gray locks fall behind her and looked to the coffee table, scooting forward a bit to grab the cup of tea still sitting there. A sip, and she sighed,
"Good god that feels better."

Aislinn_Derry
"Just on the counter," Aislinn hadn't bothered putting the boxes in the cabinet-- she didn't live with anyone, so she didn't have to keep things neat and put away. And she used tea so often, it was just more convenient to have it sitting out.

"The kettle's still on the stove, though you'll want to put some more water in it and start the fire."

She looked about for her cane, wondering if she could at least get around temporarily using that...but really, she didn't feel like getting up just now anyhow.

Aislinn_Derry
Aislinn smiled,
"Actually, there's a small bag on the counter with blueberry tea, if you don't mind."

That sounded appropriate, anyhow. Using the controller, she exited out of Dynasty Warriors-- she didn't feel much like playing anymore. In fact, after a bit of tea, she was probably going to want a nap more than anything else.

Shenzi Thompson
Shenzi nodded, going back to the teapot as it started hissing loudly. Pouring some of the water into a glass that was already on the counter, and put the blueberry tea bag in. Coming back, she put it into Aislinn's hands, wrapping her fingers around the glass. "Well, I think I'm gonna go now. You should probably get some sleep." Giving her another encouraging hug, she stood up, slipping out the door with a small wave and a smile.

Aislinn_Derry
The woman nodded, waving at Shenzi as she left,
"Thanks. I think I probably will do just that."

Hopefully she'd manage to fit herself properly on the couch. She had a feeling she'd be spending a lot of time there for the next few days.

In front of the door of your duplex lies a small gift wrapped in regular paper by a string. There are some words scribbled with ordinary pen, saying:

"Merry Xmas. From Cody"

Outside your door is left what is clearly a hand-built simple wooden chair, about medium size. The seat is carved out and in the back, rather than a flat backrest, a large divot has been cut out, with an ample opening in the backrest. A dowel fits through a hole carved in one side, sliding down to a divot in the seat to provide more support when leaned back against. It seems the chair has been specially designed for those with tails in mind… This one is painted light blue with leaves carved in the wood. While simple, it’s sturdy.

On a note tied to it:

Quote:
Merry Christmas Shenzi!

Ha! I remembered your name this time! Hope you're having a happy holiday. Thought the chair would be handy with your changes. Have a great New Year!

Scales and Feathers

Sore muscles - more sore than even after the most rigorous of dance regimes the next day. Your back in particular is killing you. From the moment you wake up, your back spasms from time to time... then the muscles twisting and twining and sending lightning-jabs of pain down your back.

Your teeth, your feet, your arms.... pringling in your skin around yoru neck and shoulders, these side-symptoms increase.

By mid-day.... your back spasms are almost inbearable... as your muscles contort and begin to form around a newly forming bone. Muscle and sinewswrap and spirial around these bones as the protrusions jut out from your back... and begin to grow.

As these strange things grow in, your tail lengthens, your feet stretch a bit more, your toes swelling and your big toes atrophying until nothing is left. Your neck stretches a small amount as white and brown feathers emerge around your neck and shoulder - they begin as the small pinions pierce yoru skin and unfurl. Likewise, The feathers spread over your ears, giving them a tufted appearence... and at teh base and tip of your otherwise naked tail.

The yellow, calloused leathery-scales cover your hands, traveling up to nearly your elbows, and finally, as your maxila reshapes and loses any teeth in your top jaw, falling out like tic tacs as a small bill emerges from under your lip. Your pupils narrow, becoming cat-like as your featherless wings finally finish growing.

If there was any doubt before as to what Sabin has in store for you, with your new array of features, there is little left.

Later that day

A Reluctant Gryphon

Shenzi awkwardly shoved open the door to her duplex, letting out a grunt and a wince as the protrusions from her back bumped against the door. Slamming the door behind her with a fierce kick, she didn't notice the small dent and numerous splinters in the door where her foot had connected. All she was thinking about was a mirror.

Stumbling into her bathroom, the wings making it awkward to negotiate the doorway, she stared at her reflection. Her upper lip, gone, replaced by a beak. Her face surrounded by a halo of feathers, her ears covered. Her collarbone and neck weren't even visible now. Moaning, she sunk down onto her knees, her feet bumping into the tub, her face in her hands. She would lick her lips, the skin dry, but she felt the row of missing teeth.

Laying her head on her arms, she couldn't even feel the cold surface under her scaley arms. She could feel the tile, but it was like there was just a simple block of wood. She couldn't feel her skin on her arms, but the chilly tiles under her legs were certainly tangible enough. Her tail was brushing back and forth, the feathered end twitching violently with her emotions.

"Sshit. Sshitsshitsshit." Shenzi mumbled. She had expected the change, and she wasn't entirely certain why it was so depressing. Maybe the fact that she had lost her looks, to the point no one would want to watch her dance. Maybe it was that there was probably no chance she could sing again; she'd heard herself when she talked to Gaius. She ******** hissed.

A betraying sniff escaped, as she felt her eyes starting to burn, from holding in moisture. Groaning, she leaned back against the tub, leaning her neck against the rim and staring at the ceiling. She could see every little detail on the ceiling boards, making her hurriedly slam her eyes shut, rubbing her hands over her face, despite the smooth, cold scales covering her palms. Groaning again, she pulled her knees to her chest, burying her face in her knees. "What'll I do now..." She mumbled under her breath, as she started feeling light headed, slipping on the tiles as she tried to stand back up. Her eyes were shut by the time she hit the floor, a pounding headache hammering at her as she lost consciousness.
