Ambrose squeezed her hand encouragingly, hoping to summon Amaya to a higher state of consciousness. with the bulge in her stomach depleated, it left her frame distrubingly emaciated. She didn't look good at all - he could virtually count each rib of her barreled chest.

"You're right... You're right. She needs a doctor... my God, how did she get so skinny?!"

Ambrose slowly got to his feet, still cradling the now tiny lizardgirl.

"There's got to be an intercom around here...." Ambrose scanned the walls before his eyes finally lit upon the small plastic box mounted near the door.

He wavered, looking between the eggs clustered on the floor, the girl in his full arms, and Alec in the wheelchair.

Amaya couldn't muster any strenght to squeeze his hand back. Even as she was lifted limply into his arms she dangled like a skeleton, her wide chest slowly moving up and down as she breathed.

She caught a glance at the pile of eggs on the floor and knew they were her's. She had laid eggs. Eggs.

But she didn't cry or sob, her eyes closing as her large head fell against the wolfman's chest.

Alec grimaced at Amaya's poor state, leaving the pile of eggs for further consideration later. Right now, his main priority was to get her to help. With a stern, concerned gaze, he looked up to Ambrose and without further thought, reached out his arms and gestured him to bring her over to him so that he'd be free to call for help. Perhaps it would've been easier for him to have wheeled over to the intercom himself but he was convinced he needed to see for himself if she was really ok.

Ambrose nodded quickly at the gesture and carefully carried her over to him and laid her gingerly in his arms. She felt so light - both a combination of his own stronger build but mostly her wasted form.

"Take... take care of her... See if you can get her to drink some water. I'll call for help!"

He then, arms free, dashed over to the intercom, skidding a bit on the slick tile as he stried to stop abruptly - his furry paws and dull claws not providing much purchase on the floor.

But tapping zero, the bored voice was quickly interupted by Ambrose's frantic calls for help - that Amaya had laid Eggs and now looked sick and was unresponsive.

There was an affirmative response, and then silence. Ambrose then paced, hoping that they would arrive shortly. He trotted over to where Amaya was in Alec's arms and hovered worriedly behind them.

Amaya opened her eyes slightly as she felt herself be passed onto someone else, taking notice of the damp grey skin and rough bark. She looked up at Alec, her eyes filled with the same despair he had seen so many times before.

"Alec..." She whispered hoarsly, wanting to just hug him and wish everything else would go away. But she couldn't even manage to lift her head up from his shoulder and soon her eyes closed again from fatigue.

He gently accepted the thin body as it was passed down to him, gathering her up in his lap and his arms pressing her even closer though she felt like she would break if he applied too much force. There was a bottle of water in the poush behind his seat but even after Ambrose had dashed off, he couldn't will himself to take a hand off her to retrieve it.

Thankful that help was being called, he tried to distract his thoughts though the iguana girl's small voice ruined any possibility. "Shh shh" The boy hissed between his curved teeth, pressing her frame up against his chest, eyes welling with tears.

Oh God Amaya, what have they done to you...

It was perhaps five or ten minutes of anxious waiting as Amaya felt herself growing wearier and wearier before they heard the rumble of a jeep engine and the crunching of pebbles under tires.

By the time the two guardsmen anxiously made their way into the cafeteria. They eyed Ambrose particularly warily - the Annie scare making all the guards nervous to leave the fence that surrounded the main lab facility.

"That the girl?" One asked brusquely to the two boys.

Ambrose nodded quickly. "She's very weak... please be carefu-"

"Then you carry her into the van." The other cut him off, not wanting to have to busy his own hands with anything other than the rifle he clenched.
He gestured to Alec, who already had the girl across his lap.

"And you-" the first guard spoke to the second. "You get them... eggs." He made a disgusted face.

The second looked like he was going to protest, but then got the severe look of a superior officer and clamped his mouth shut as he gathered them up in a small sack and followed the group out to the van.

Amaya was loaded into the back seat and the two guards drove her back to the labs.

Ambrose watched helplessly all the while, worried for his little sister, but kept his distance. Finally, he huffed in frustration and concern as they drove off and left him distinctly unsettled.

Even though he knew it would be better if he let the men take her to the labs, Alec felt hestitant about releasing his hold on Amaya. He had little time to think about this however, seeing as the soldiers made quick work of the situation and retrieved her without giving either of them time to protest. As his lap became devoid of the small burden, the teen had a chance to glance behind at the egg pile - just in time to see the last ones being placed inside the sack. "Ay, AY!" He roared and spun about in his chair but the shadowy outline of a rifle near his face made sure that he could do nothing but helplessly watch them take those too.

As the cafeteria cleared of the temporary confusion, the boy wheeled for the door meters behind the soldiers as they filed back into their jeeps. His feelings of helplessness and sorrow were beyond description, and he didn't even offer a word to Ambrose before he began wheeling away from the cafeteria. At first he was following the path the jeeps had taken but soon found himself giving up in favor of dragging himself home.

Anyone who goes into the Cafeteria on Christmas day is in for another massive presentation. Red and green streamers decorate the cafeteria, and a large (fake) Christmas tree is set up near the buffet with ornaments glittering on its branches.

Delia was up quite late working on the feast (along with a few extra hands):

The center table has three massive spirial-cut hams, several mincemeat pies, a (cooked!) turkey, and stuffing off to the side, and a potroast.

On several tables around it are the following delicious items:
Corn on the cob, roast vegetables, dinner rolls, cranberry sauce, plum pudding.

One table has three big punch bowls:
One is full of Eggnog
One is full of Wassail
And one is full of milk. The milk is very creamy and thick - obviously whole milk, but to some distinguished tastebuds it seems unpasteurized. There is massive stacks of cookies of all varieties besides it.

And one table has other desserts: Apple, Pumpkin, bread pudding, and gingerbread men. The centerpiece of this table is a large gingerbread house.

One table seems to be dedicated to Kosher, Hannukah-food (even though Hannukah is now over. A blue and white tablecloth covers the table, and on the table are a few plastic dreidels and an unlit menorah.
On the table is potato latkes, a large braided challah, bagels, cream cheese, and lox, and a roast lamb.

Shenzi entered the cafeteria, peering around, a small bag over her shoulder filled with various, random things that could be suitable christmas presents. So far, she seemed to be the only one in here. Sliding through the door, she approached the table, the tassled fringe on her black skirt swinging around her knees. She had a white tank top on with a beaded edge. Dressed up considering what she usually wore.

Shrugging to herself, she gpicked up a plate, cutting up a piece of turkey and dishing out some pumpkin bread, before retiring to a table, tucking her tail into her skirt. "When're people gonna get here...?" She mused out loud, her chin in her hand with her elbow on the table.

Liamh wandered into the cafeteria, glancing about. He had a sweatshirt on, with the hood pulled up, but it did nothing to cover the green skinless patch on his face. A dog.... he was still boggling. Why had he been left a dog? He'd had a hell of an afternoon trying to catch the thing. Ought to have just let it run free, but... somehow, the tales of tigers and wolves in the woods didn't make it seem like a good idea.

And now he needed some food for it. He hadn't been into the cafeteria much for the past couple weeks. He hadn't needed much, living off of the few snacks in his duplex... But he doubt the dog had the same dietary needs.

And besides, he thought as he glanced around at the decorations, it IS Christmas day.... He felt a bit of a twinge. He'd decorated a bit in his duplex... but nowhere near the festivities he'd have had were he anyplace but here. He scowled to himself. The dog could wait half an hour while he helped himself to some Christmas cheer... the blasted pup had had a good run all day anyway.

Taking a deep breath and starting to whistle a holiday tune, Liamh got a plate and started loading it up with cookies near the punchbowls.

Lauren was very hungry for Christmas dinner while taking Comet for a walk. The dog obviously felt the same way. Both sniffed the air as they smelled the wonderful christmas dinner.

"We should wait for Nita." Lauren said looking at Comet. "But, it IS Christmas and I can always eat a ton of food."

Comet ran around Lauren, tying her up with the leash and barked happily.

"AGH! Calm down now." Lauren said smileing as she untangled herself. "Alright, you talked me into it. Come on b***h." She joked as she went into the cafeteria with her dog.

She briefly wondered if bringing comet in was a good idea, but though hell they all were animal/people. Can't be prejudice towards just animals now. Lauren went to get a cup of egg nog and two plates piled with food, mostly meat.

Marshall wasn't sure WHY in the world he was going to the Cafeteria. For one? He was tired. Second? He had gifts to deliever before he took a nap! But he WAS hungry...

So, here he was, looking at a hooded figure whistling and a horned cat...thing with a dog. How strange, realy. So, with the DVDs under his arm, he headed over to the cookie pile.

"Jingle bells...Batman Smells..." Marshall hummed.

Lauren vaguely recognized the penguin man and laughed at the sight of him as she devored her christmas dinner. Comet was busy as well sitting up in a chair herself doing the same.

"Good dog Comet!" Lauren said as she pet the dog next to her. "Show that roast who's boss!" It was obvious Comet's obediance was going to go down the tube with a owner like Lauren.

Comet was waging her tail happily. She saw the penguin man and barked lazily, but the food was too distracting and she was too happy to be territorial.

Liamh stood near the punchbowl table feasting on sugarcookies and dunking them into a plastic cup full of the thick, creamy milk. It tasted a little funny, but he wasn't going to complain today.

He glanced over at the yellow-furred girl with horns. She had a dog with her.... he obviously wasn't the only one to recieve a visitor on his doorstep, like some abandoned kryptonian baby.... a really hairy one. Catching sight of Marshall, he looked up suddenly and waved, grinning, forgetting that he was trying to run sort of incognito. At least he'd waved the normal-looking hand....
