Shenzi Thompson

Shenzi was making her way towards the lake, a short green ruffled skirt and a black and white striped shirt covering her body, with her well loved gray hat on her head, her hair in loose waves. She had a bag slung over her shoulder, her iPod inside with a converter in case there was a tape player. After seeing Richard again, she had hunted down the tell-tale bulletin board, and had seen the ad for auditions. So, here she was, headed toward the lake and a supposedly slimy fellow.

As she approached the lake, she looked around; it didn't look set up, and besides, why were they being held at the lake anyways...? Shaking her head at that, she climbed up onto the rocks, her bare, clawed feet scratching softly on the stone.

That morning, Billy had settled in to squeeze between his rocks, mostly submerged to breath the water easier. His skin had turned the same speckled grey of the rocks, and in his dozing state, the texture had become rough to match as well. He supposed he was far better at hiding now than ever, what without his bright white hair standing out like a beakon. The girl was almost on top of him when he finally shifted in the water to try to draw his limbs in and out of the way. He didn't need anymore fighting just now. He was happy enough wallowing in his own misery for just then without the added joy of someone yelling at him for doing this or causing that.

Shenzi's footing wasn't the best, since the pads on her feet couldn't get quite enough purchase on the stone, and it was when she looked down to see something, a person's head? Moving in the water. Stifling a sound of surprise, her feet slipped from underneath her, and she slid down the side of the rock, landing on the person before falling off them and into the water with a gurgle.

Kicking her legs and arms, her head popped back out of the water. Shaking her head and irritably tossing her now damp hat onto the rocks, she looked to see the person she had fallen on... And gave off a squeak of surprise.

Billy stay still, holding his breath in hopes that she'd loose sight of him and continue on her way. Don't move, don't move, she'll just go. He kept his fins flattened against his rock-textured skin. A god damn stupid Normie- no, a early Halfie. Great. Just what he needed.

Shenzi shook her head again, staring hard at the rocks. She knew she had seen something move, albeit it wasn't anything big. Maybe she was just hearing things. Sighing in irritation, she walked awkwardly out of the water, her hair dripping wet and her clothes soaked. Her bag was on the rocks where it had fallen from her shoulder. That was one blessing; at least her iPod wasn't wet. Mumbling and swearing under her breath in czech, she stood on the sandy shore, shaking herself off and wringing out her skirt, the water falling onto the sand as a flash of thigh and hip accompanied the lifted skirt. Hey, no one was here, right? Why should she care if her skirt was up?

Hopping over to the rocks, she picked up her bag, sifting through it while muttering under her breath. "Damned auditions... Now I'm soaked, ******** ********..."

At the sight of youthfull thigh, Billy's brows raised from his hiding place, and he was readied himself, content to spy her possible drying process. When the word Audition left her mouth, though, the octopus brightened up even further. FINALLY! The rocky surface of his skin slowly smoothed and knit with lavender as he lifted his head from the rocks with a beaked-grin.

"Yer' here fer... th'auditions...?" His voice was low and breathy, edged with a wet sort of weaze as he struggled in the air. He kept low and tucked into the rocks as best he could, just in case she felt the need to trip and land on him again. He hoped at least his face looked hopefull, but the spasming stubby growths on his chin wriggled disconcertingly.

The girl's head shot up when she heard the wheezy voice, her brows knit together in a frown. She knew she'd heard something! She hurriedly dropped her skirt, her cheeks the faintest shade of pink, more at the idea of someone seeing her legs without her knowledge then the fact that someone had indeed seen them.

Walking back to the water, she looked at the rocks, her eyes widening as a purple shape started to appear, forming into a roughly human-ish face. "Ermm, yes...?" Shenzi was hesitant; was this Billy, the guy Richard had mentioned? He certainly looked like an octopus...

"Bloody... finally!" He moaned happily, and the rest of his body emerged, tangled about the rocks in a mass of limbs that he coiled and snaked their way towards the shore. Since his final change, his limbs were thicker and longer than ever, and while he still had not gotten used to their leignth, he was greatfull for the ablity to hold himself up. He didn't have to crawl on his belly, his legs could form a weak support to almost stand, so long as he kept his balance with his many arms. He came to stop in a soft, boneless and still aching mass once on the more solid ground. "Made... tha' flier... forever an' a ....feckin' half ago..." he panted.

She remained where she was as the thing, the man, Billy, laboriously drew himself onto the shore. Shenzi let her face remain impassive, though she now understood what Richard meant when he said "a slimy fellow." But at his gasped out statement, she let a small, crooked grin light her face. "Well, how many performers are there here?" Shenzi asked with an arched eyebrow.

"So far... one... now be a goo'... gel'... an' see... see tha' chair by tha' tree?" He pointed his shorter, gimpy tentacle towards wehre his battered, rusty wheelchair had been parked and forgotten for days now. "Bring'... bring it o'er t'me..."

Shenzi looked to where he pointed, and her blue-gray eyes fell on the rusty wheelchair, which she hadn't noticed before. Shrugging to herself, she obligingly brought it over, wincing slightly as she heard squeaking from the rusted wheels. "Okay. Now what?" She asked, her hands held behind her back, with her hair falling around her face in dripping blue curls.

He crawled over to it clumsily, slithering his various tentacles up over the seat and around the arms befor he managed to pull himself up, and sighed as he sagged on his bottom-most coils and took a few moments to catch his breath, "Righ'... then.... alrigh'... " He cleared his throat, "Y'go'... any cigarettes...?"

She remained silent as he pulled himself up into the chair, but she froze when he asked her for a cigarette. Dammit... Now I need one... Groaning inwardly, she reluctantly shook her head. "Nah, sorry chum..." She brushed her hands down her hips in a nervous gesture, her tail swaying behind her.

His cheak twitched and he made a disappointed noise in the back of his throat, but shrugged it off, "Alrigh', so, ...wa's yer name, gel?" He had been excited about this part. He wondered just how bad the offered talent would end up being. He rubbed two tentacles together in a 'Let's get to business' type gesture.

"Shenzi Thompson." She said promptly, giving a little curtsy as her frown turned to a small smirk. "I need music though. Or at least, prefer to have it." Shenzi gave him a pointed look. She could probably max out the volume on her iPod, but that wouldn't work overly well. She had a small speaker in her bag, though, but she wasn't sure well that would work, either.
