"Well...Ubel is my friend, sort of..." she replied, frowning in thought. "But he, like just about everybody else I've seen, is infatuated with Grave. Nobody else seems interested to know me." She shrugged, looking away. "I don't mind. I don't need friends to survive..." she paused to smile shyly up at Antigone, then continued, "Not that I'm not glad for your friendship, of course."

"You're wrong," Antigone said with a soft smile, laying an even softer hand upon her friend's shoulder. "Everyone needs someone to survive. We'd shrivel up inside and not feel anything, if you didn't have people around you," the young Sanguine said with a smile. "You'll have to settle for me though, for now. I'm afraid of when the others notice you. You'll forget all about me." Anti laughed softly.

"Forget about you? Why would I do that...?" Aysel asked, obviously confused by her friend's statement. "You're my best friend- my only friend, since Ubel forgot about my for Grave- and I'd never forget you. We have yet to get our fortunes read in the District Meloncholia, after all, and I intent to do that with you sometime in the future."

Antigone smiled happily, and impulsively leaned over to give her friend a kiss on the cheek. "Thank you for being so nice to me, Aysel." Because she couldn't help herself, she hooked her arm with Ay's, and hummed a merry tune. "Ready to check out, or do you want more books?"

This time, Aysel was prepared for the act of phyical affection, and she smiled merrily. "Thank you for being so nice to me," she returned, grinning. "I'm ready to check out if you are. I have all the books I need..." We don't need to be in a library, babe, because I already checked you out ;0

Grave entered the Library with wide open eyes, never quite growing accustomed to the awe and love he felt for this place. It was like a treasure tome! so many things salvaged from the Old World. He could almost convince himself that the world had not really crumbled, he could almost believe that if he stepped out those back doors to the Black District he'd step into a world where foreign things like Families and Kings and countries still existed. What a fantasy! He paused on the threshold, looking at the massive clutter that was Requiem's massive wooden desk for the pale Phlegmatic. A bob of a slender spiralled horn behind the pile...Ah, there he was! "Requiem!" Grave called out in a hushed whisper of excitement. The soft-haired Three bobbed in suprise and nearly slipped off his chair before ushering the two Zeros closer. Grave grinned to Kallisto. "You ready?"

At first, Kallisto only saw the intimidating pile books greeting them and wondered why Grave was talking to them. Nodding, her brows arched in a look of confusion, she watched as Requiem nearly fell off his chair. Giggling, she smiled, "I guess..."

Requiem drew up to his hooved feet with a graceful little hop. He smiled and wiggled his whiskers to feel the air. "Hello again, Grave. And Kallisto, I believe this is the first visit I've had from you... Welcome!" He offered a downy-furred hand to her in greeting and a little bow. "What can I help you with today, Grave?" Grave smiled and admired the teacher with an open grin. "I've finished with the books I borrowed from you, I'd like to exchange them for something new, if I could." Grave turned to Kallisto as if to say 'isn't he great?' and nodded. "What about you, Kallisto?"

She blinked then smiled broadly, instantly liking the 'vibe' she got from this man. Taking his hand, she pumped it enthusiastically. "It is. Pleased to meet you!" She bowed a bit as well, feeling it was only polite.
She turned to catch Grave's expression and nodded, "Um, I don't know. I've only looked at manuals...." She looked embarassed, somehow thinking that between these two saying that would prompt a dissappointed response. Ah well, that was the truth. "Is there anything you can suggest?" She asked, then quickly followed it with, "That's within reason? No huge books for light reading, if you know what I mean." Her tone was light but she was beginning to wonder what she'd gotten herself into.

Requiem smiled kindly. "It depends on what your interest are, Kallisto. We've got every type of reading here you can fathom. Let's start with what you're looking for, and I can direct you to some wonderful choices." Requiem did not look the least disappointed or offended that Kallisto had not read a wealth of knowledge. Requiem dealt with all manner of students, but he only really got upset when some of the less pleasant students attempted to deface his painstakingly protected and defended tomes. From a glance he didn't think Kallisto was the type of student to do such a despicable thing. Grave pulled the Short Stories of Edgar Allen Poe, A Handbook to Mudras and Technoquip Care and Use from his satchel and placed them carefully on the safest of the many stacks tipping precariously on Requiem's desk. He then turned to the Librarian and said ponderously, "I think I'd like something on Astronomy...Tarot Cards...and perhaps something on Alchemical Herbs."

Kallisto pondered a moment, unsure. Being told everything was availabl made it a difficult choice. She watched Grave put the books away and chewed her lower lip, trying to make a decision. "Well.... I really like Alchemy.... and cooking.... uhm...." She tapped her chin, realizing she wasn't entirely sure just what she liked. "I must not seem like a very interesting person, if the only things I can name are closely related." She chuckled a little self-conciously. "I'm sorry."
She felt totally out of her depth now.

Requiem smiled and shook his head. "It's good that you know what you like. Specific interests evolve into Passions. If you'd like to follow me, I'll show you our Alchemy section." Requiem waved a soft arm towards a not-so distant row of books and placed a gentle and unobtrusive hand on the small of Kallisto's back to direct her there.

Kallisto nodded and followed Requiem's lead, though she looked back over at Grave briefly. Requiem seemed nice and she has glad to have met him. Wether or not she'd develop a taste for books, however, remained to be seen.
Garnet eyes played across the shelves, flickering across the titles in search of something that would catch her attention. "Is there anything you can suggest?"

Requiem nodded as he paused before a labelled section of shelf. "Tryna has a few books set aside in her section that she recommends. Any of these are supplimentary texts to her course, which means you can learnt hings she mgiht not've covered in class time. Here we are!" Requiem ran a dark fingernail over five tomes. 1. Nicholas Flammel's Guide to Alchemy 2. The Joy of Cooking 3. The Prescription for Nutritional Healing 4. Alchemical Shorthand - A Lexicon by Tryna 5. Cooking! Simple and Nutritious! 6. Magical Portions of Wordly Ingredients by Euphrasia "As for which I'd reccommend, if you're interested in learning more about how to make Alchemical potions specifically, Alchemical Shorthand is a great introductory text. It gives you tips on how to read alchemical notes - terminology and abbreviations, and things like that - as well as tips on coding your own discoveries. Magical Portions of Wordly Ingredients is a wonderful reference text, as it tells you which parts of various plants, minerals, animals and essence can be used for which purposes. It's a relevant text not only for Alchemy, but also for Medicine, Hybrids and Golems. As for simple cooking, The Joy of Cooking is the most complete text we have. It's wonderful because it teaches you what the cooking terminology means, as well as giving you tips on how to prepare things." Requiem smiled and stepped back to let her choose. "While you can borrow anything you'd like, you may only take three books at a time. And you must return what you've borrowed before you take out something new. That way all the students get a chance to use these resources."

Kallisto smiled brightly, stepping forward to lighty run a hand across the spines of the books, "Thank-you!" She had to mull the rule over though and blinked when it sunk in. "Only three? That's fair... but what if there's something I like but I already have three books chosen? Can I put things on hold?" She looked up at Requiem; it was obvios she still wanted to explore the library a bit and such a restriction might proove a problem with the ever curious Kallisto.
As she spoke, she withdrew Alchemical Shorthand but her other hand hovered over Magical Portions of Worldly Ingredients.
