General Faustite

Faustite shook his head to Jet's first question. There was no surety to anything in the Rift, shifting and violent as it was. The cavern they explored had quickly devolved into youma when Rakovanite pulled the starseed, and Faustite couldn't say how long it would be until those youma went dormant again, so they couldn't go the direct route and search for clues. They would have to avoid the origin point.

The rest was a touch rapidfire between him and Aquamarine, but he sorted it out. Needed a different timeframe that wasn't 'until morning', though, with Jet's statement that he would call the mission. "Three hours," he decided. Long enough for a decent search, but not so long that he would overtax his injured companion. Then there was the matter of sleep, and his avoidance of it; the giddiness of an energy storm wouldn't last forever.

"He's going," he confirmed to Aqua. "Communicator broke; Kamacite will man comms. Doesn't need his arm to use his magic." But Aqua was right concerning the risk of bringing the injured.

Between the two of them, Faustite hadn't expected Aqua to be the one to nearly express concern. His mouth twitched. "They knew, but their families didn't." Missing persons reports, the lot of them, otherwise. If they found a cavern full of bodies, at least those bodies could perform a cover story with which the families could find closure. Infiltration would come up with something. Aqua stood a greater chance of being correct the longer they waited, however.

"I'll be fine. Lived in the Rift two years," he admitted with a touch of shame, a lower volume.

"Nembus will be our point of contact. Anything happens, she'll come to you two." Soon as he found her, anyway. Hopefully alone.

Corrupt Eternal Kamacite

Kamacite remained close but didn’t feel the need to defend himself on whether or not he was capable of functioning with an injury. If he wasn’t, then he’d die and Aquamarine would have the privilege of saying he was right.

He was still a bit bitter about being shoved in front of that monster, and then treated poorly after trying to help Aquamarine after. However, Aquamarine didn’t seem to be looking for a fight, so Kamacite kept his head down.

But Kamacite didn’t have any intention of dying, much less in the Rift. His arms were already scarred from various encounters with enemies and youma. They were just a shield.

He also didn’t comment on Faustite’s reminder that he’d been in the Rift for two years. It had been a long two years for Kamacite, but it hadn’t seemed like any time passed at all for Faustite. Kamacite wasn’t sure which of the two were better off for it. Overall, they were equally s**t scenarios, but it all worked out because Faustite came back, and Kamacite was too stubborn to give up.

“I’ll make sure he comes back,” Kamacite finally said in response to Aquamarine’s comment about Faustite going missing. Living in the Rift or not, Kamacite wasn’t going to lose his friend again.

General Jet

Jet looked from Aquamarine to Faustite, although there wasn’t much reason for him to pay attention to Kamacite so he left the Eternal alone. “Three hours?” he asked, sounding rather incredulous at the statement. Either Faustute had an idea of where the others were, or he was overestimating his abilities.

“Fine,” Jet agreed, and then took a few moments to stare at the ground as if in thought. “Arles says there hasn’t been any movement to be concerned about. You should be clear. For now,” he said once he received confirmation from his youma.

“Be careful,” he said after another moment, looking at Faustite and then Kamacite with his awkwardly wrapped arm. “We’ll keep the others safe while you’re gone. Let’s bring everyone home that we can.” While Aquamarine was right, Jet didn’t want there to be any more casualties.

General Aquamarine

Aquamarine didn’t want casualties either, but they happened often enough that he was less sensitive to the idea of them than he used to be. Each mission brought a certain level of risk; it just so happened the Rift brought more.

Nothing would convince him that a rescue mission was in their best interests, but it wasn’t his mission, and he didn’t expect to be able to sway Faustite against a decision already made. Aquamarine was there to do a job, and he’d do it until continuing was no longer feasible or they completed the mission, whichever happened first.

They’d find out in three hour’s time, apparently.

“Let’s hope they’re alive.”

Hope was foolish, but Aquamarine preferred it to wasting time.

And he didn’t much like the idea of carting the bodies back.

Lieutenant Roselite

Roselite’s smile grew at the hand on his shoulder, though he flushed a bit with embarrassment when he was told it wasn’t always necessary to use the formalities.

It was a habit instilled in him during childhood, by a family overly concerned with appearances and the success of its members. Roselite was never as successful as certain people would want, but what he lacked in talent he made up for in diligence and civility. Even were it not a habit, he thought anyone who proved themselves worthy enough to become a General should be treated with respect.

He wondered, sometimes, if he would ever manage to reach such an esteemed rank.

“I… Yes, Sir, I already—”

The rumbling and the lightning interrupted his attempts to discuss his own tent. Roselite jumped, startled. He was thankful for Benitoite’s presence, and his willingness to offer protection. After surviving the first part of their mission, Roselite felt a little better about being in the Rift, but it was still a terrifying place.

“My Captain might be looking for me,” he offered. If they were going to keep close as Benitoite said, Roselite wanted to ensure that Bloodstone was nearby. Grim as Bloodstone often was, Roselite nonetheless felt comforted by his presence. “Captain Bloodstone, I mean. He was with the combat team.”

Captain Bloodstone

Carnallite was wasting her breath because he wasn’t going to change his mind about Roselite. Just as he wasn’t going to change his mind that she was worth being around despite her piss poor attitude. Not that his attitude was generally any better.

The change in subject was welcomed, but one he wasn’t sure he should be vocalizing around so many of their colleagues as Carnallite said.

“Most of them are untrained or poorly trained. Good for bait and little else,” he said, trying to remember anyone that stood out to him. Some tried standing out in a way that was loud and obnoxious, throwing around stupid jokes or comments to gain attention. Others were relatively quiet and kept to themselves, but that meant they didn’t get to see what they were capable of, if anything.

And they were all young. A horrible combination, especially when most of them didn’t know how to pitch their own tent by following directions, or didn’t know how to ask for help and just looked like fools.

“Roselite is better than a lot of them. At least he has common sense,” he pointed out, still a little bitter that Carnallite thought so poorly of him. "What's your assessment of our colleagues?"

Lieutenant Reidite

Reidite swore, loudly, spitting out Russian curses and unable to clasp his hand over his abused shoulder since there were still quills stuck in it. The following hissing in Russian equated to a not family friendly version of ‘if a giant porcupine stabbed you, you’d be grumbly too’.

He turned to frown at the General that Cymophane waved at, biting back more swears so he could stalk over to the dark haired man.

“Do you know how to remove these? Without ripping my whole shoulder out?” he asked, not even bothering with the accent because he was angry and in pain and would like someone who seemed like they might be able to help help.

He also didn’t want Cymophane waving to this man and wanted to know what was so great about him that he deserved a wave.

Corrupt Sailor Taenite

Oh no, Taenite was not going to do the work for him. He was going to hand him the first step of the process and point to what this frosty senshi needed to do. He wasn’t anyone’s babysitter. Offering to help was one thing. Doing it for them was a no go.

He waited patiently, holding the poles for the tent. “You put them in the fabric slots,” he said with a grin, making no move to dig through or do any more by himself.

“Why are you here then?” he asked, cocking his head to the side curiously. “If you don’t like being in a place where you’re unwanted. It’s pretty obvious the youma don’t want us Senshi here,” he said bluntly, but it wasn’t cruel or mean, just honestly curious why someone who didn’t seem like they had any interest in being there was, well, there.

“If you have a commanding officer who made you come here, that’s pretty s**t of them. You should submit a complaint to one of the General Sovereigns and be reassigned. Anyway, do you have a name or should I just call you Frosty?”

The rumbling and flashes of light caught his attention, but as long as there wasn’t a rockslide they should be fine, for now.

Sleet Tempest Snape
No worries! But he might end up having to sleep without a tent, because Taenite will help, but he isn't going to build one for him. sweatdrop

General Lopezite

Despite Kamacite’s quick departure, Lopezite didn’t think him rude; he was one of their designated team leaders, and probably had greater tasks to keep his attention. He wasn’t offended, but he had caught the apologetic looks as the Eternal Senshi went when beckoned and tried to smile reassuringly. He was planning on setting his attention elsewhere to make better use of his time when the lieutenant approached. He didn’t know the officer’s name, but he had no intention of ignoring him--even if he couldn’t help but glance at Cymophane for a split second to see if he was missing his friend.

Or, Lopezite assumed they were friends; he hadn’t really been able to make heads or tails of who was friendly and who was just doing their job.

“Oh,” he said, a bit surprised by the sudden inquiry. He knew he couldn’t have looked like the medical sort, and he was sure that he couldn’t have given off the impression that he knew something about quills.

And yet, he did. Sort of.

“Well,” he said slowly, glancing at the quills in his shoulder, “Without ripping your whole shoulder out, yes.” Maybe only half of it. “But I have to be straightforward that the only experience I have is pulling quills out of my leg, and an unconscious dog, and he had the pleasure of being sedated while I did not. Have you taken anything for it, or..”

He paused, just sort of looking at the quills. “How did you do this, did you fall on a porcupine? I don’t have any pliers, so if you want me to pull them out, you’re going to have to have a seat. And I don’t know how to do it painlessly, unless that medical tent has something you can take.”

Lt Thorite

Thorite flinched when Albite's hand grabbed at the scruff of his neck and he ducked, trying to discreetly knock it loose without causing a big deal out of it. He didn't want to draw attention to his reaction or his need to not be touched there.

"Man hand hook car door is a pretty good scary story to tell around the campfire," he said to distract himself, chuckling. He wasn't sure how many of them would get the stupid meme reference, now that he thought about it, but it would be easy enough to explain.

General Benitoite

"Ok, we can go find your Captain. I wouldn't want to keep you from his side, especially if this might get ugly soon." And he did have a sinking suspicion that it was indeed going to get ugly.

"And Roselite, if you ever need help or just someone to speak to you can. My door is always open." Otherwise he was sure the other could find out his information and contact him by some other means. If he could continue to help the other he would. He didn't doubt the others Captain, or think less of them, but he did hope he wouldn't be stepping on toes by offering some encouragment and help to the Lieutenant.

"Now lets go, we should fain Bloodstone. You'll have to point him out though, I'm not familiar with him." Giving the other a gentle nudge so he could lead the way.

Super Corrupt Miyamoto

Oh, so this was how it was going to go? He might have made some comment but he thought better ofit, it was that or he got not tent and slept out in the open - not something he liked the idea of. "I'm here to prove myself and to better myself. The senshi pulled me into this - they decided I should be involved and on what side. I'm taking it back and they will pay." Oh, he would make sure they did. He had lost his family, his job, and more due to the other side. Taking one of the poles he was not so gentle in doing as the other had instructed, it was a miracle he didn't tear the fabric. He was more than a bit aggressive, but he got it done.

"My commancing officer brought me in, rather than attack me he informed me. Not something the other side did much of. He explained more and offered me a way to correct things." So join the side he felt was better - was right.

"Miyamoto, you can call me that. If we meet outside of here I'll give you that name as well." Though frosty wouldn't be too far off the mark really, not given his sphere and his personality really. He didn't take offence to it, why should he? He'd been called worse, oogled by people, and pointed at plenty of times before. This was nothing compared to other times.

"What about you? Why are you down here? As you said, we're not wanted down here...less than the officers are."

Corrupt Sailor Albite Senshi of Retribution

Albite let Thorite duck him with ease, was seemingly heedless of it all. Far more attentive to the lightning that flashed and struck overhead. How it ate the whole of the sky in a way that made him wonder about the atmosphere of the place - however the hell that all worked. Eyes cast up, head tilted towards the distant rumblings that seemed to shake the whole of the place; that set his teeth just a little on edge.

He busied himself with small tasks, hummed some assentation to the group, an agreeable noise. Appeased with the idea of them sticking together. He'd happily let them discuss how they'd while away the time between sleeping. So long as they were all still talking and smiling. He'd fall with ease into the workhorse role, liked that let him switch his brain off for a moment. Get hands on with the minutiae of camping while they discussed swapping spooky stories and bed time tales.

He collected their lanterns into the center - got them lit up - far enough away that the tent wouldn't catch; close enough to provide the image of comfort and warm glow. Emptied out his pack of the foil wrapped goodies and what had come standard - better to use it all now and ditch the added weight so they could sleep on something like full stomachs; because they wouldn't be staying longer than the night.

If it hit a point where they were?

'Irrelevant, it wont matter then.'

The food steadily became a neat little cache off to the side. Fished out and set along with the goods a swiss army knife, his own personal additive to his pack, old and worn from use, but it'd be good for the cans should they need it. A silverware set, primarily spoons and napkins snatched hastily from one of the banquet tables.

Set what water they had alongside it - glanced out frequently between getting things done - nervously almost. Looking for a spark of fire, wondering if he should ask Nembus about Faustite....

General Faustite

His reason for choosing the time was left undeclared. Echoing him wasn't reason to divulge it, and ultimately, the longer they stood around and talked, the larger the possibility that they wouldn't be found, or they would be found dead. He nodded his thanks to Jet and Aqua, then turned from the pair.

Interesting ability that Arles had. Never met a telepathic youma before this one. Would've been nice to have one along, to question the others.

"Come on," he muttered to Kamacite in passing.

There was one last stop left. Again he scanned the camp, and again he spotted all the different people he didn't know or need right now. He spotted Benitoite, and his mouth twitched. He spotted a few Negaverse senshi that he encountered at the last operation. Ah, there's Albite.Faustite could hear the loudmouth from anywhere —

And next to him was exactly the person he was looking for. Better that Albite doesn't make a scene of it, so they would have to be quick.

He stalked up to the group of them — four, it looked like. Drew in a breath (too much, he found, exacerbated the burns along his ribs). "Nembus. Need you to watch your communicator for a few hours. Anything happens, report to Jet and Aquamarine."

[Lieutenant Ransomite]

Ransomite didn't mind beans in the least. The Shrub's Baked Beans were the best, obviously, but he was flexible. As long as they weren't just going to eat them plain. There had to be at least salt, right?

Right?

His eyes flicked toward the lightning, lingering on it and the rumblings afterward. Maybe it would be good to find a cave that wasn't also youma and make camp there. A lot less likely to get hit by lightning--

Either way, "hey, the tent's better than just standing out here waiting to get hit by lightning." Ransomite was already starting that way, assuming the others would make their way over on their own.

As long as he didn't get someone grabbing the nape of his neck like he were a naughty kitten...

Once they were at least a modicum of settled in, he let himself relax, only for Faustite to make his way over to them. Ransomite glanced up at him, but wasn't terribly interested in making conversation...

Instead, he glanced toward Albite and Thorite.

[Super Sailor Nembus]

Nembus had no idea what man hook car door was, but like with everything else, she was eager to learn. If it was a meme from before she lost her memories, she'd prefer to have that context. Maybe she'd seem like a more proper member of her generation then--

She joined the other three at the camp, pulling the leftovers she had also obtained out of the bag, as well as several cans of beans. There were a lot of them. She probably had packed more than necessary. Ransomite would probably be happy to find that at least one of the cans were, indeed, The Shrub's Baked Beans.

The approach distracted her.

Fortunately for Ransomite, Faustite wasn't there for him. Fortunately for Albite, he never needed to bother asking Nembus about Faustite. Faustite was there for his underling, and Nembus quickly got back to her feet and brushed off her uniform as if ashamed of getting caught doing something even remotely similar to relaxing. She was around a bunch of people who were arguably her underlings to some degree -- Albite definitely was -- and while Marcasite had always taken the friendly approach with her underlings, she wasn't sure if that was what Faustite would prefer.

She quickly pulled her tablet out of her pocket, nodding obediently. "Understood. May I ask where you're headed?" She paused, and then asked, further, "Should I further worry if I haven't heard from you in a few hours?"

She knew Faustite was familiar with the Rift now. She didn't necessarily know if that made him safe from the Rift, whatever he was going off to do.
