Grant Caudwell

As Sailor Virtus, DMC Senshi of Kindness, Grant was very used to being able to help others. His powers, after all, were focused on healing, and could be very useful in a pinch. He was not the best fighter (and certainly did not like to fight anyway), and was more than happy to be of some use to his team members and fellow Dark Mirror Senshi in any way he could.

When he heard one had been hurt, and was seeing help at this clinic, Grant thought he might be able to save some time and come to her aid. The was a good community in the DMC, though he was on the outside of it, looking in with a dumb smile on his face. Things always tended to move around him, while he was perfectly happy staying in the same place, being the same person he ever was.

Only recently had things begun to... shake. Not move, not yet, but things felt a little rumbly in the back of his mind. He had spoken to a few people about it, but tonight was not the time for those thoughts. No, tonight he was there to do one of his favorite things in the world.

Help someone.

Entering the Center, he looked around and was surprised by how busy the place was. How was he going to find anyone? Oh well, he was not going to give up just because it looked hard! He had to give it his best try first, and he was all too happy to do so.

Samantha Whele

Sam wanted to be able to tell others, particularly people who helped her train or even people she'd been in fights with recently, that she broke her hand in combat. Yeah, she was just so tough she punched someone TOO HARD, and broke her hand along with their face. Not that anyone would believe that, and she was a terrible liar anyway.

No, she would have to tell them that she tripped on a flight of stairs in the library, her own fault despite the Librarian's utter horror and determination to help her in any way he could, and broke her hand while trying to save books rather than herself. A particularly heavy astronomy text book was to blame, though it survived without a trace of damage.

Camelot brought her to the hospital, but she'd opted to escape once the Royal Knight was gone and come to this place instead, hoping it might have been a little less... embarrassing. She would thank Tony when she next saw him and Merlinite, probably when training, but for now... she just wanted to pretend the whole thing hadn't happened.

Or at the very least, hope no one she knew or could possibly know ended up seeing her and finding out what a dorky idiot she was. It was very unbecoming, sitting there in the waiting room, trying not to make eye contact with anyone but failing spectacularly because each new person that came in sparked her curious side. If they caught her staring at them, she tried to fake a cough and look away.

It was easier to wonder what happened to them, than have to explain what happened to her, anyway.

Cabhan Douglas

All the talk of memories, tapping her head as she did, the wink... A slow smile began to spread across his lips, flickering his gaze between the two. "Amnesia? Knock on the head do that, or something else?" His voice was low, a curious venture, but his gaze lingered on Jericho a moment to judge his reaction.

That he was given such a simple, and forward, response from the man only delighted him further and Cabhan bounced a little in his seat. "Oh! Oh in that case, we'll definitely need to chat more later. But aren't shrubs too big for a greenhouse? I thought they just went outside." What a lovely way to meet a fellow person dragged into the Negaverse! The bloody and sickly taint of the waiting room felt all the more befitting to him, though he could only hum and eye the state of a few of those lingering around. Must be busy indeed, for some of them to be waiting for so long...

Her question concerning Jericho's scars made him perk up, lips smooshing a bit from his knuckles as he pressed his chin a bit harder into his palm. "Hm~? Oh, sort of. I mean. I saw him after. Wasn't there for the fight he got all that in." He'd not attended the tournament, though he'd heard of it happening earlier that year.

---

Jericho Cross

He glanced towards Cabhan as Omorose spoke, taking in the flickering gaze and finally the probing questions. When the other focused on him, Jericho gave a snort and grumbled, "We met through work, if that's what you're getting at. She's a newer recruit, same field as you far as I know." A senshi. Why was he always surrounded by senshi? He cast Omorose a lingering look as well, hoping what he was insinuating was clear enough to both of them. Two senshi, new-er recruits.

It felt strange to be talking about such matters, even in a masked fashion, in a public place. Was this normal? Or did people just... hide away such parts of themselves and their lives, save behind closed doors where they could control what ears might pick up?

"Kids, and people that are bloody messes," he grunted in slight agreement. He'd noticed that one occupant seemed to be suffering the most, and while he was unsure on the extent of the guy's injuries... didn't look good. A single shoulder rose up and down briefly and he returned his focus to the towel around her arm, trying to tighten it to ensure the injury was properly covered. "Must be someone even worse off that's their focus." Her answer about the injury--he shot a look up at her with a frown as she said things, unsure exactly what she meant though certainly with a few ideas--had him giving a slight nod. "You ever learn any first aid? Or self-defense?" The second part was given with a faint smirk. Fleeting, but there.

It sure as hell vanished when her fingers grazed his face. The scar tissue was slightly rough still, though long healed, breaking his right eyebrow up as it skipped along his face--and missed his eye. Still owed a payback on that. Cabhan's sort of answer was reasonable enough, and he gave a small nod. "Spar match. We both walked away with scars. Nothing life-threatening." All thanks to the fact there were medics and starseeds nearby for them to down.

Omorose Khan

"Something else!" She wasn't all that shy about the fact that she had been corrupted in, so when others in her profession figured it out, it just saved her the trouble of explaining. Even Jericho knew a way to better word it. "Some do, but if the greenhouse is big enough, you can place them closer to the walls and windows and then have smaller plants on the inside. Helps with the winter too if your greenhouse doesn't stay warm."

She didn't know why the facts came out like they did, but they did and it was interesting. "Don't remember." She didn't move her hands far from the bigger man's face. If he was comfortable with kneeling in front of her like he was and making his face accessible, then she was going to keep messing with it. "Stella is working with us for self defense but I wouldn't mind more lessons." The faint smirk earn a even brighter smile and she started to smoosh his cheeks. The scars didn't really bother her, but she was sure others might have thought them intimidating. Plus with his size?

"Can I call you Cav?" She tilted her head at the other corrupt, her hands still messing....gently with Jericho's face. Besides, he was holding the towel for the cut on her arm in place. "Maybe we should ask to work together sometime, I bet we'd have fun."

"Love, really," Tobias said, "this seems unnecessary." It wasn't as if he was doing much to resist, though, because to a degree, he knew Eva was right. As much as Tobias was sure he could handle his workload, he knew that balancing his work for the Negaverse with his work for the prosecutor's office was putting strain on him, and...he trusted Eva's judgement more than his own, in this particular matter.

He'd spent too many years working himself to and past the point of exhaustion to pretend he knew his own limits.

It should have said something, he supposed, that when he dropped into the uncomfortable clinic chair, he immediately felt the urge to take a nap, simply because he was seated and not actively working.

His eyes flicked across the waiting room, and he made a small unhappy noise, tugging Eva a little closer with barely a thought. "More immediate cases to say the least," he said, but he still reached for the clipboard. "But if you insist, dearest. I would never imagine that a small delay might get me out of this."

Jacqueline "Jack" Maaz

A flicker of darkness across the screen of the phone in her hand pulled Jack's gaze up to watch a nurse assist a very unsteady looking man through the doors to the clinic within. It looked a bit like he could barely stand and only the arm around his torso kept him on his feet. Even still, he was leaning heavily on the tall woman, and she was struggling.

Jack sighed through her nose. Curious about what might be wrong with the man, annoyed that that probably meant she'd be waiting out here even longer before anyone would have time to see her. She definitely understood that she wasn't at the top of the priority list, but she was getting pretty tired.

Shifting in her chair, she glanced out into the room, taking stock of who was there; the new faces and the ones that'd been there since she'd arrived. It didn't seem to have changed significantly.

Dark brows twitched as she noticed another girl looking back at her and she offered a little smile and a wave, shoulders rolling in a shrug as if to say I feel you.

Otto Moor

It was the sort of promise that Otto maybe shouldn't have found appealing, but did. It was rare that Des did anything to rankle the man, but when she did, when they worked through it, it was absolutely never disappointing. Come to that, very little about the girl was ever disappointing. Except perhaps when she wasn't around.

Drawing in a deep breath Otto let it out slowly as he stared up at the clock, fingers splaying under Desdemona's gentle ministrations over his hand. The soft touch raising goosebumps along the length of his arm. "I don't know. I don't know if waiting this long is normal or not." He couldn't remember the ER visit that had resulted in the gash on his chest that had brought them in tonight.

With a grunt he leaned until he could lay his head against the side of her head, free hand falling to cover the one resting his thigh. Toying with her thin fingers much like she was doing to him. "No I don't, I dunno anyone that would like them, to be honest." For all the good that could be done here, it still felt to him as if dread itself hang in the air. A patina of foreboding covering each and every surface.

It made his skin crawl. "You owe me big time for this," he murmured, turning his head enough to brush his lips over her temple before settling again.

Alphonse would feel an eerie, creeping dread crawling through him. If he looks sideways, he would see a vague shadow on the face of the person next to him - but then, after a second glance, it's gone.

As he moves to take a seat, something flickers Grant's peripheral vision. Looking to his right, he sees the back of a tall man disappearing around a corner at the end of a hallway. Just before he vanishes from sight, a wide, wild grin is visible stretching across his face.

Desdemona softly hummed her approval of their newfound closeness, idly admiring the fine hairs on his arm stood straight at attention in response to her touch. She sighed softly at the kiss, chuckling to herself as she remarked playfully, "Are you sure this isn't repayment for worrying me? - you're lucky I didn't tattle on you."

A kind of thoughtful silence seeped in, self-inflicted, with Desdemona staring across the room with a kind of unreadable little quirk to her lips. "Do you want to know a funny thing?" she finally said, and didn't really wait for Otto to answer; why bother when she knew what his answer would be? "This is my first time to a hospital. - the first I remember, anyway." Back in the beginning, when she'd been fresh and new to the Negaverse, a doctor had treated her broken fingers and everything else. But in that state, she could hardly be taken to a hospital without a lot of questions. So it'd been dealt with privately, same as most of her other injuries. Nothing else had ever been so damaging as those five weeks of torment.

She squeezed his hand, giving another chuckle. It wasn't exactly wistful. Hard to be wistful then there wasn't really emotion involved. "But I still know I dislike them. - I just don't know why." Because she didn't know that Natalie Roux had sat in the hospital alone after some trouble with her tonsils being taken out, laying awake at night convinced her room was haunted. Desdemona didn't even know she lacked tonsils to begin with. "Interesting how corruption goes."

A pair of nurses pass by the couple sitting close together; one of them isn't looking where she's going and trips over Otto's legs, stumbling down a little, throwing out a hand to catch herself on his knee.

"Sorry!" she says quickly, apologetic as she pushes herself vertical again, wincing slightly. She takes a breath, tests her ankle for any sort of issues, then straightens, letting go of his knee as she regains her balance.

"Thank you - sorry about that," she says again. "I didn't mean to trip over you; I'm just so clumsy!"

She nods to him, looking slightly embarrassed, and hurries off with her friend.

Otto feels a strange sense of tiredness come over him; it seems to wash over him like a dose of medication, though he hasn't taken anything.

Jericho can see - something.

He doesn't know what. It's moving, down at the end of the hall. It's there. Right?

...right?

Sadie Avamir

Sadie could feel him staring at her. She blinked once, twice, tried to take a deep belly breath and sink deeper and deeper into her cloud of hair, her phone loosely gripped in her hands as a prop. If Ignacio knew, he didn't say anything. He went back to his own problems, and she went back to scanning the room as much as she could without moving her head too much.

Motion was what caught her eye. People were coming in at a somewhat alarming rate, although with the city how it was, that was sadly how it was likely to be. She looked to the doors to the back room instead, trying to give the people coming in their own privacy as best she could. She angled her face just enough to look towards the back, instead, through a pair of double doors that were just swinging open.

She could not avoid eye contact with the man standing just beyond. The way he smiled made her shiver, and she quickly turned back to her knees. It felt wrong as wrong, somehow, and even though she did not want to jumping at shadows, thinking everyone was terrible and cruel, she was having a hard time thinking the best of everyone lately, either.

In any case, she suddenly very much did not want to be alone.

She turned back, more interested now in seeing what was happening than in hiding her bandages. A man came in, looking more confused than hurt, someone she didn't know, and after a moment, when he came close to her, she turned from the wall and smiled at him. "Hi," she said softly. "Are you looking for something?"

Cassie can see a woman called for her turn. She rises, slouches tiredly towards the doors while holding what appears to be her arm cradled against her chest - possibly a broken or sprained wrist? She seems okay otherwise, if not a little weary.

"We're just going to ask you a few questions, then you can come sit back down here," says the nurse at the front desk, guiding her back behind the doors.

She does not return. The nurse, however, does, taking a seat behind the front desk and resuming her work.

Eva Denman

As she had spoken briefly to the nurse at the front desk, explaining the situation and obtaining the required paperwork for him, a door slid open and her gaze snagged past the nurse's shoulder. Two people spoke--argued, she realized, a delicate brow lifting as their postures and slightly raised tones slid through the crack. Only one word was distinguishable though--plan?--before the door was shut once more. She collected the paperwork and clipboard, returning to Tobias' side, for the moment deciding to keep quiet about what she'd glimpsed. Perhaps just... a plan for how to tend to a patient? That made sense, considering the state of some of them there...

The Center was a simple and efficient enough place, from what she knew of it. She had... thought the evening would be straightforward. Get in, get Tobias checked out--perhaps get some flu shots all around if need be--and then go home. Maybe convince the doctor to write him a note to force the man into some bed rest for a day.

Don't get her wrong. Eva might have been a woman of means, born to it and working hard to maintain her own. But that hardly meant she didn't understand the value of a dollar in that day and age. Nor miss the price tags attached to her home, her wardrobe, trinkets and bobbles, and the respective ones belonging to Tobias. Hard work, time, sweat, blood and tears... it all went into it. Some parts more than others, unfortunately. That hardly meant she'd sit by, silent and prim, while he worked himself to death to maintain both the standard of living, and the prestige of the office.

"'Tis the season for all sorts of illnesses to be scuttling about, hun. Not to mention the number of stress-related conditions you could be piling onto yourself," she pointed out quietly at his feeble objections. She tucked herself as much against him as she could, given the armrests between them, turning her body to curl slightly sideways in the chair. Time ticked on, and her brow continued to furrow as more patients entered and were checked in. So much blood... "Is this normal for clinics to take so long? I thought for sure some of these people would have been seen by now." Again she kept her voice low, not wanting to be disrespectful to the staff. "I hope things are alright." She peeked towards the clipboard in his hands, reading over things absently. Anything to distract herself, really. Though she brought up a hand to smother a yawn.

Rhys Autenberry Hitchcock

He knew how much Hitch hated hospitals; that it must have been bringing back a flurry of unwanted and painful memories for him. Rhys kept up the steady rubbing of his back and felt Hitch turn, just a little, pressing himself just the slightest bit closer to him, and Rhys leaned closer in turn, wishing they were anywhere but here.

If only he could teleport them somewhere. If only he could take Hitch out of here and go back to their homeworld, or...something.

The name Zachariah was familiar; it clicked a second later, Rhys's sluggish mind working to catch up to the man standing in front of them. He'd never met him before, but Hitch had talked about him multiple times, with general enthusiasm and cheerful friendliness; they'd been at school together, once upon a time, long before Rhys had come into the picture.

"He's not dying anytime soon," he said fervently, with a glance at Hitch's pained face. "Not on my w-watch."

The idea was horrifying. Rhys swallowed hard, then nodded mutely to Zachariah's question.

"Yes, p-please feel free to s-sit," he said, and almost lifted a hand to offer for a handshake before he remembered that they were still stained red. "U-um...I'm...Rhys, Logan's - Logan's husband. It's n-nice to m-meet you."
