Mash'al pulled Naevius through the crowd and released the slack on his weapon, "I have not..." he murmured, shifting on his feet to see past the cluster of earthlings, "but whatever it is it's not good, not friendly, and you need to stay as far the hell away from it as possible, lest we repeat the conversation we had earlier about the war~" He glanced at her with a smirk, "Whatever it is It is just one, for the moment; surely the guards can handle it. If it does escalate..." pausing briefly to try and keep the worst of his thoughts at bay he breathed, "We don't need you getting captured."
Getting his bearings in the crowd Mash'al released her arm and pointed to a nearby building, "There! I have a room at that building and it has a balcony. You'll be safe for the moment and we will be able to see what is coming." It was a tactical vantage point, but their weapons would be rendered useless... Unless these hooded monsters were stupid enough to storm the building and try and take her; they wouldn't succeed so long as he drew breath... but they were welcome to try~
Nilah44 o3o I tried to aimchat you to see if this was alright... Let me know if I should edit, or just be all "*^* I do what I want Mash~ You don't own me!-flee-"

Aqio - Post 5 The dancer slowly moved to slid the twin blade on his lower back into view. He kept his gaze on Shesha. He wouldn't move till the other told him to.

Aaricia- Post 5
Aari nodded slowly. Indeed the air was tense... and it only got moreso with the sudden scream. She jumped up from where she had been sitting and spun around, breath catching when she saw the mysterious creature dragging someone away. She glanced over to the woman who had shown her concern, and was relieved to see another with her. That was a proud Oban man...
Aari ducked her head to hide her face again and found herself giving the woman's arm a light touch. "That thing split the very air to appear over there. It could show up in any place next time; or if there are more.." she pursed her lips slightly, glancing at the building the man had pointed to as well as the alkidike now screaming furiously and firing arrows. "At the least, you should step back to prevent getting caught in any friendly fire." As she said this, a pair of knives appeared in her hands as she turned to face the chaos. There was little she could do with the soldiers already on the attack, but she could at least be ready.

Chapter 9: Grave Expectations
|| IC ||
The Army moved forward, pushing people back and demanding they stand down. They called to arms those who they recognized, but did not let any civilians step foward to break their line. They had orders, and they were there to keep the peace. As others attacked, the back line broke off with swears to tell them to stop. They had this, they were trained for this, and none would cause them issues. As a result, any who attacked were quickly surrounded by younger army members who told them to simply stop.
It seemed too late, as some of the Army was struck from behind by one suck arrowed attack, and they let out a curse before falling. Chaos began, and it was difficult for any to control the crowd.
It seemed the beast was pleased with the chaos, as it didn't hide nor run away. It clicked and hissed and watched as the figure in it's arms simply appeared dead to the world.
However, as the army finally broke through the crowd, it backed up with a darker noise. Smoke filled the air as it suddenly disappeared without a trace, the girl gone as well as the Army hesitated before moving to circle to place where they once stood.
Besian and Naria attempted to calm the crowd, well above and able to see that the threat seemed to be gone...but no one knew if there were more lurking in the shadows of the buildings around them.
"Search the area, NOW!" Besian called out as his men and women scattered to secure their location and the people.

Yitzah Post: 6 Location: Freaking out. --------------------
Stop? She couldn't stop. She couldn't, she couldn't.
"No!"
Yitzah kept firing arrows until someone restrained her. By then, her hands were shaking so badly that she could grip neither arrow nor string anyway.
"No, no, why here? Why now?" she babbled. She was back in the clearing, smelling smoke, hearing horrible chittering laughter, hearing her sisters die. She wasn't ready to hunt the bug monsters, so why was one here?! Why?!
She watched as the monster - so proud apparently of what it had done - disappeared into nothingness. She strained halfheartedly against the people that held her. "Don't go... don't go, I need to kill it, don't..." she slumped, "go..."
She'd failed.

Shesha - Post 6 Shesha watched through the narrowed eyes of an observer as the army moved in toward the threat before them, trying to take it down before inevitably failing. The creature disappeared in a manner that seemed far too easy for it. Lip curling a little he gave a hiss between his teeth and said, "It was a show of power, wasn't it? Appearing, grabbing someone, and vanishing without sustaining damage. It might as well have gave us the finger." Leaning against his magical staff he shook his head, "Nobody will have faith in the army now, will they?" The army, the elders, those gathered, they were all made to look the fool by allowing the person to get grabbed so easily. One of those things that had Shesha a bit on edge. If those things were able to appear and disappear at will they became far more of a threat then just some fringe group of slavers. They were something that could take anyone from anywhere, no matter their rank and file in the world, and that was something he didn't care for. He rather enjoyed knowing that his place in the world offered him some protection from everyone but those that he'd stepped on to get to where he was in life. Turning from side to side he scanned the area around himself before he said, "I don't much care for this gathering anymore, little fish. If the elders don't speak up soon with any sort of plan I think we should excuse ourselves from this mess. Preferably before anyone thinks to stampede over each other to get to... well, whatever they assume will be safety."

Post 6 - Attempting to heal a fallen soldier
Aylin let out a curse under her breath when she saw that Yitzah’s arrow had struck one of the guards meant to protect the crowd- not that it was much use against the nightmarish creature in front of them. She tried to get near the fallen soldier, asking if there was a healer among their ranks or if she would be allowed to administer care- it was far too well known to her the damage an Alkidike’s arrow could inflict.
Waiting for a reply or at least someone telling her not to heal the fallen soldier, she turned to look for Yitzah- she had rushed after the creature, but now it had disappeared in a swirl of smoke. And here she thought such descriptions had been mere embellishment on tales meant to frighten the children of Jauhar. She had lost sight of the Oban woman who had been with them before the fighting had broken out- where was she now?

Ai'ian Post 6 Ai curled himself protectively around his woman, his body blocking everything he could manage, no way was any creature appearing out of thin air to get at her, it would get him first. He preferred it that way, she needed to make it through this, half of him wanted to pick her up and run...he was just waiting for the right time. He didn't want to loose the advantage a crowd gave.

Arima - 5
At his command Arima reached out a hand to clutch at Saraf's belt. She wasn't about to get separated from the Oban! "I can fight." She replied as her free hand clutched at her staff and crackled with magic. Though it seemed the crowd was too reactive and the army was already on the move so the woman settled for a defensive position...
As the smoke cleared Arima's gaze widened, "I have the feeling...that they won't find anything." She pressed closer to Saraf with slight fear, "Whatever...could that thing have been?" Never before had she seen such a thing...and why was it kidnapping earthlings?

Saraf - Post 6 Saraf lowered his sword as the strange creature disappeared and he turned, making sure that Arima was still right there with him. He could feel her grasp on his belt the whole time but seeing her was more important because it showed him that she was alright. Giving a little sigh of relief upon looking at her face he said, "I'm sure you're right about not finding anything... what is more worrisome then what it was is that there might be more of them." Those things were a rather massive danger, it went to show that they might come back and try to take more people. It was something that had the warrior on edge as he scanned the crowd and said in a cautious manner, "We need to keep our eyes open and keep our weapons in hand for now. At least until we know that the thing isn't going to pop back up again."

Chapter 9: Grave Expectations
|| IC ||
As the leaders of each race huddled together to speak, the army continued to explore the area. Cries of "all clear" sounded from the buildings as others rushed to support those harmed in the chaos. The ones that held Yitzah dropped her as soon as her weight became too much, and stepped away. They didn't leave her, concerned with her emotional state, but they didn't quite know what to say either. One of them, a leader, made a gesture to leave her be when others meant to restrain, figuring she only meant to help.
The guard that was hit was bleeding, but seemed in a good enough state to grin at Aylin as he pulled out the arrow. A healer from the army rushed over and quickly soothed the wound before nodding to the shifter and moving on.
Soon enough, the entire area was cleared and the army stood waiting for a command. Besian, with Naria at his side, stood to face the crowd.
"People of Oba and Matori, today we make a promise. I promise you, no we promise you, that we will find out who did this. We will find out where these creatures come from and hunt them down. We will find out where they have taken our family, our friends, and we will bring them back."
Naria nodded, raising her voice as well, "Together, we will protect each other, and we will do what we can to keep our homes safe. I ask you, if any of you has any leads, come forward now. Share with us your knowledge so we can share with you our protection!"
They waited, the voices murmuring as no Oba or Matori spoke up. However, near the back, the green skin of an Alkidike hybrid flashed as a figure moved through the crowd. He was tall, very tall, but had the hair of a shifter. As he pushed up to the army, he was waved forward to look up at the leaders.
"I didn't believe it...my mother told me stories but I didn't think anything of it...they called them Bug Mages, creatures of dark magic that once destroyed the world. Only my Alkidike mother knew of them...my shifter mother seemed surprised. I think they would be the ones to know the truth...if they are willing to share..."
He seemed bitter, and despite his size it was clear he wasn't on the side of the Alkidikes, but he knew enough to cause both leaders to look at each other with consideration.

Aqio - Post 6 Aqio didn't completely relax, instead he glanced to the hybrid. Then to his mage. "It would seem, we're going to be dealing with other tribes that don't have a friendly history." he looked back to the hybrid. Giving him a good look over. He'd be a good assassin. He then looked back to his mage. "What do you suggest?"

Myrida- Post 5 She made a disgruntled face, watching as everything moved too fast for her taste. Feeling her mate with her she leaned back into him. Watching. A soft smile seeing a hybrid like the one who spoke up, it was a relief to see people of his heritage could find a foothold here. When the male finished she looked up to Ai'ian. "Do you remember stories?"

Ai'ian Post 7 "Yes, yes I do remember stories, now that you mention it, but it was from when I was very young, both of my parents' alkidike mothers had stories that they told to me and each other, but they were among many more about flying radaku and stuff that I never thought there was much truth to it." He shuddered realizing that maybe every tale had some truth to it, or eventually would.
