History: Ruby was a cache orphan, and bounced around in foster homes for the first several years of her life before deciding, at the ripe age of 5, to run away from the system. She wandered the streets for a while, stealing and squatting, even pickpocketing money from people. She was doing pretty well, and she didn't appear to be homeless at just a glance. At age nine she was, once again, picked up by the Asphodel Academic Society. A man who was a high-ranking official was particularly touched by her case of endless rebellion. Despite being uneducated, Ruby had evidence that she was intelligent, and she could be a real asset to society. The man adopted Ruby and sent her off to the Academy, where she's spent the last several years.
At the Academy, and as a junior, Ruby was an intentional rule-breaker. She would smoke cigarettes in the courtyard, waiting to be caught, and skip classes just to go to jazz clubs and watch the performers. Luckily, the staff at the Academy was persistent and patient, not afraid to push her to do her best. Somehow, Ruby was able to keep up her tough exterior while being passably productive in school.
