Sephos squinted at the crop barter. He was interested - he was definitely interested - but he didn't want to look too interested. Instead, with as emotionless an expression as he could manage, he selected out his produce. He had no real sense of how a crop barter might work - he just happened to like the produce... especially tarnips. Sephos really liked tarnips. As if he was going to tell anybody that. The other crops were perfectly good, too - maybe he could get some seeds and introduce a few into his garden... though they might not take to the soil or shade. Oh well, he'd have fun, and if he didn't, then he'd have a tasty meal. There you go.

Keionx decided to play that game that was all the race - haystack diving. What hero wouldn't answer the call to find treasure in the midst of a sea of mundanity? She was so fired up from this whole festival - it was almost exactly what she needed to really top off her heroic transformation - something normal, something fun, something festive. And, maybe, she'd have something to bring back to the trolls in the swamp - extra heroic points.

So, with that in mind, she dived right in...

Keionx wasn't sure what to do with a crop swap, but she had wanted to bring back nice fresh produce-like things to the swamp, just for the sake of eating (which was important) and for the sake of heroism (also important) and respect (absolutely vital.) Of course, she had wanted to do so by hunting down monsters and bringing back stories as well, but produce was just as well.

She proceeded to select the produce with great care... In particular, she selected punkins. They were filling and delicious and you could carve them into lanterns, the perfect ornament for a swamp home. So, she stocked up on those.

Other things, too, like tarnips and totatos - good produce, those: beastdad had raised her on a strong diet of fresh foods and Keionx had a deep appreciation for eating her vegetables...

It had taken a while for Vremea to even begin to reintegrate herself in society, having spent a long time away and preparing her new life in Civisect City. Approaching the festival area with a new sign in white and black tinted glasses, the now anonymous yellowblood fiddled with her gloves and adjusted her headwrap, slight anxiety of being found out curling deep in her. Instead, of letting the anxiety hit her too hard, however, the social troll simply decided to actually join in on the festivities, hiking up her skirt and beginning to search through the hay to relax herself. While she found nothing, of course, the hemoanonymous adult was still mollified, feeling a little more pumped now!

Barter crop: Sephos used a punkin
Tickets won: Sephos is not playing for tickets

Sephos stopped by the communal pot, sniffing at it greedily. His mouth watered, and it was hard to resist taking a little bite of the mess of deliciousness that was cooking there. It was hard enough to keep the hunger and delight off his face. Glancing one way, and then another, he prepared and put in one of the punkins he had picked up at the crop booth - there. That would make it taste all the better when the time came to eat it. He couldn't wait.

Maku praised him for his selflessness and desire to share, but Sephos shrugged him off. "Whatever." he said, moving on before the delicious aroma could tempt him to take a premature bite. Selflessness? Generousity? Helpfulness? That wasn't it at all. "I'm starving." he complained unhappily. He'd have to do something about that...

Vremea instantly moved to the cooking area when the curvy greenblood asked her to help out, lightly tugging the gloves off her hands and getting herself ready to cook some mooncakes! "A pleasure to meet you!" She told her as a radiant smile spread across her face, cracking her knuckles softly before getting straight to work. She filled it with a great nutty taste, baking it perfectly enough with a good crust-- however, She messed up getting the design straight. But hey, it was alright.... right? It tasted splendid!

And he was, indeed, hungry. Further aromas led him to food carts and... Suddenly, Maku began to rustle excitedly. Excitely enough that Sephos stopped to stare at the normally placid giant.

"Moon cakes!" the tree beast pointed to the stall, "Please, please bring me some!"

Sephos was utterly floored by the request - normally, his lusus didn't give a s**t about most things. But here was an actual, eager request. "What...? Sephos began to ask, but then remembered that he wasn't supposed to care. He did, but... "Whatever. Okay." he said, glowering as if he didn't, and going over to the stand. "I want to buy a mooncake." he said abruptly to the proprietor, "Its for him."

The shopkeepers initial surprise turned to an aww of appreciation for a wiggler giving his lusus a gift. "Awww, well I'll tell you what - I'll show you how to cook them up, and you make your own. For free."

"For free?" Sephos thought the whole thing was weird, but okay. He'd do it. "Fine." he said...

Finally, the fruitilicious mess came out of the oven. "Oh dear, you undercooked them!" the shopkeeper said, "Well..." she looked at his lusus, "You should try again later." she said, friendlily, "Here, I'll sell you these..." she handed him a mooncake.

"... okay." Sephos said, giving her the beetles. He walked over with the bought cake, feeling a little disappointed that he hadn't been able to give Maku something he'd made...

"You can try again..." said Maku encouragingly as Sephos offered him the cake, "You should eat that yourself." so Sephos did, but even as he did, he resolved to make a damn mooncake for Maku, if he had to try all night to do it.

        "What's your name, sugar?"
        "Mahmud."

He was back again today making more moon cakes, an activity that had quickly earned a place in his heart. There was something so relaxing to making food... Sort of like... Pastry rhymes or something. Pastry rhymes! That sounded so good! We're there little word molds somewhere he could use? That could be cool...

Although he didn't speak much, outside of the one line answers given to Fermer or DuckDad, it was clear the boy was in a far better mood than he had been the other day.

        "Where do ya live, Hun?"
        "Desert."
        "Not in Chittentown?"
        "No. Just Ommy and I."

Her hands were close to his while they kneaded the pastry, and for a moment his pump biscuit gave a reflexive flutter of fear, making him squish the dough under his far too hard. Older troll older troll, too close too close-

"Aaah! Careful there Muddy! Y'all making the dough all mushy! Too much kneading!"

Just like that, the boy blinked and stared back at the horrible mess he made of his dough. " ..." Silence. He couldn't bring himself to say anything, just frozen again staring down at the messed up dough. It's because he let his guard down, wasn't it? If only he had stayed on alert, he wouldave paid better attention. He was so stupid, so stupid, stupid stupid stupi--

"Aww hon it's just dough! Ain't nothin to be upset over! We all mess up!" Ferment leaned over to pat him on the shoulder comfortingly, but instead the boy jerked away, taking a step back into his mom. "I ain't gonna do nothin... Watch!"

She cooked his cakes the best she could, and even with mushy dough they came out pretty decent. Different from last time, it came with a smokey flavored inside. Still though, it seemed he fell back into his former shy, sullen state.

"Muddy cheeks, you still did great!" Mahmud didn't really believe her, or duck dad's quacks and Harpommy's cooing, but... Well. She still didn't hurt him. Maybe he could try again tomorrow? Maybe he should try touching something that felt like a grow ups hand, so he wouldn't get scared again...

...nah, that was a bit too creepy.

Azrael stared with pursed lips at the mess that oozed before him. There was nothing recognizable to the moon cakes that he'd seen. These were an abomination that even a garbage disposal would regurgitate, if it didn't act as some form of rubber cement mess that. "... well that was definitely something, for sure...."

"Hey there, told you I'd be back by." Etsali gave the farmer standing by the haystack a quick grin before sizing the thing up again. Still as tall as ever, though it had obviously been dug through quite a few times by now. Hmm! "Has anyone found the needle yet? No? Then there's still a chance!"

Unfortunately, she didn't find the needle this time either, but hey, there was something interesting there. "Hey, were you looking for buttons too? This one's a nice color."

Etsali moseyed on over to the mooncakes tent next, holding the button she'd found up to the moonlight as she walked. It had a bit of a shine to it even, didn't it? Even if it wasn't the needle, it was obviously a prize all its own. The tealblood had even given her more tickets for finding it! She slipped it into a pocket as she got ready to start cooking again, reaching for more fruit this time and being extra careful not to get as carried away with the stamping.

By the time the cakes were ready for cooking, she was sure she'd gotten them perfect! And maybe it was that surety that made her a little overexcited. She'd pulled them out much too early! Oh well. They were still edible.

The community pot was still up and cooking away. Etsali watched a few trolls pass by to drop in ingredients as she approached, and gave any that came back her way a quick smile. She still liked the idea of this thing, something everyone helped scavenge for and everyone got to eat when it was done! She'd found something that looked decently edible to throw in this time too! Even if no one else had seemed terribly enthused about picking it. She wondered why?

Chiara was back at the cake booth. This time was sure to be no diffrent, seemingly overnight this blueblood had turned into a master chef! As Chiara mixed her stuff and baked her cakes she was sure would be just as good as the last ones she bragged to the other trolls around her. As the blueblood took a bite tho, she noticed the mush... They were aaaalmost as good as the last batch, but something had gone wrong. "Humm, maybe i should not have added that extra ingredient..." she mused to herself as she inspected the cake.
