"Uh... kid. Ya know you can't really go in the haystack, right? Like... ya just... dig in it a little bit..."

Apparently Mahmud didn't care very much. He was back again another night, ready to take down and find this stupid needle once and for all... or at least to die trying. Besides, he was already anticipating a booby prize.

And he didn't mean a stupid ticket.
Though the stupid ticket was well appreciated.

When he came out empty handed again, he surprisingly put no fight like last time, smiling and waving bye to the older troll like a good little child. The very moment the man's back was turned though, he made a mad dash to his Ommy and took off a backpack he had on her for today, stuffing it full of a bunch of hay he had gotten from that haystack while he was digging around.

Now Ommy's nest was going to be nice and fluffy!
Ommy still didn't seem too pleased, taking to preening hay out of that rats nest her son called hair.

Eridia tried her hand at baking again, completely aware that her second batch should come out perfect. She already knew the recipe and the ingredients, and her fist batch was almost pristine! She could already taste the success! She took out her batch and gave it a good look. Her eyes widened at the results. The mooncakes were awfully overcooked, mushy and to top it all off she had pressed the stamp too lightly. The highblood contained herself again as she watch the others work on their treats, like it was a piece of cake. Hah, as if she was going to be out-shined by them.

Ok so baking wasn't her thing, was she going to give up?

Hell no. The highblood would get another chance eventually and she will show them all, who's the best mooncake baker of them all!

Already sick of the smell of mooncakes, Eridia decided to check on the other events. There was crop bartering, nope. She was refined, trolls up her rank shouldn't barter! Then there was Snoutbeast wrestling.

"As if I would try something as ridiculous!" Eridia scoffed. Who in the world would try and-- oh. A familiar shade of blue caught her eye. Was that Chiara?!?! She mentally begged the other would try such unsophisticated thing, she was her friend and most importantly, how could she face other high bloodranking members of society if they knew she was 'in-leagued' with someone who'd try to submit such a disgusting creature like that?

She turned before the other took notice of her and walked away, searching for something more or less up to her dignity. The needle-in-the-haystack thing sure looked fun. It reminded her how she loved hiding on bushes and since this was an activity... It wouldn't hurt much if she'd try to find the needle, would it?

Eridia subtly entered the haystack, determined to find the needle in it.

Tickets won: Sephos is not playing for tickets

It was Maku's fault he was here.

Sephos didn't like festivals, even where produce and plants were involved. They were too new and too populated for his tastes. He'd celebrate at home, thank you, if he celebrated at all. Maybe he'd plant moonflowers in his garden or something.

But Maku had been to harvest festivals long ago, and he wanted to go to this one. The treebeast needed a break from his symbiotic duty of fixing the forest that the trolls had screwed up (again) and that meant that the treebeast, in his patient way, was very persuasive.

It wasn't that Sephos was curious. Nope.

The greenblood glowered as a purpleblood and an orangeblood dived into a haystack. Apparently, they were searching for something, which meant absolutely nothing to Sephos.

"Go play with them!" his massive lusus said, shoving him towards the pile.

"Fine." he grumbled. He was going to get this over with. "Outta my way." he said, rudely shoving the purpleblood aside as he dove into the pile... And... there was nothing in the pile at all. He was pretty sure. He popped out of the pile, hay stuck to his hat and his hair, and glowered at the beaming treebeast...

When Kolako heard of the fun events being offered by the festival, the brownblooded female instantly jumped at the chance to join in-- Papion, however, was very wary. He stuck around the festival area, keeping an eye on his charge as Kolako jumped into the haystack with wild abandon, feeling excited about possibly finding a new tool to use daily! However all Kolako managed to find was a big fat nothing and a bunch of hay stuck in her hair. Oh well, the next day would go well, she was sure!

Keionx contemplated the mooncakes stand with wariness not born of mooncakes or rebellion or any other logical thing. The last time she had made mooncakes had been a long time ago, when she had still been young and happy and completely delusional. She'd loved the harvest festival and what it represented, and had especially loved the stories that trolls told during it, but now... Everything was different.

However... the offer of mooncake samples lured her over, and she had soon bought and was happily devouring one. Very well!" she said cheerfully, "I shall try to bake thee a batch!"

To her great frustration, it did not work. It did not work. She frowned down at her current batch, a very meh set of mooncakes. She looked back up at the proprietor. "I can tryeth again later, right?"

Reassured, she left, tossing her crapcakes to the snortbeasts...

... Speaking of snoutbeasts... Keionx grinned as she walked up to the snoutbeast wrestling stand, stretching as she did so. "I will wrassle thy snoutbeast!" she declared proudly. This was the sort of activity she remembered, the good kind, the kind where she could - for the moment - stop worrying about right and wrong and just tussle with beasts in mud. "The biggest one thy has!"

The yellowblood seemed pleased with her enthusiasm. "THEN GET IN HERE, GIRL!" he said, giving her a playful shove. Keionx rolled up her sleeves...

And the battle began!

Keionx wasted no time - the moment the cage was opened, she charged at the snoutbeast, grabbing at it. Her first grab, muscles bulging, didn't catch it... nor did her second or third. The snoutbeast was slippery from the mud and from the slickness of it's hair. Finally she managed to wrap her arms around the screaming thing. "Ha!" she exclaimed, holding it tightly, "I've got..." it bucked, and suddenly the tables were turned, with her in the mud, and the pig holding her down. It breathed rancid air into her face. "Is that all thee canst do?! she challenged it, grinning, "Fell hog!" she held tight to it's haunches, "I hath not even begun yet!"

Keionx pulled at the snoutbeast's legs, hoping to force it down into the mud again as she dodged the flailing of it's mean little hooves. "It takes more than that..." she bellowed at it triumphantly, shoving it down, "To best a hero!" The snoutbeast snorted - a sharp, snarl-like sound, and kicked out with it's hind legs. Keionx fell back into the mud, and only just managed to avoid it's barrelling charge. "Still some fight left in thee?! she taunted, "Good! I neededst the workout!"

"So come at me, swine! I shall fell thee, and twill be glorious!" she said, standing up, a little of the old madness glittering in her eye as she struck a wrestling stance. It was good to have it back, occasionally. It was fun to pretend that she was saving damsels from fell pig-monsters. Funner, still, to think of this snoutbeast as dinner (even though she was probably not allowed to take the beast to eat). She grinned as the snoutbeast charged, preparing to catch it. She grabbed it by the sides of it's head and flung it to the side - it landed in a pile of mud and, shaking itself off viciously, charged again. Keionx sidestepped it and grappled with it again, and the two of them returned to the primordial, stinking mud...

They rolled there for a time, Keionx grappling and punching and shoving with glee. This was the most fun she'd had in... blade and steel, had it really been that long? Through much physical effort and a great deal of grunting and shouting, she finally got the snoutbeast where she wanted it. She grabbed it and, with a final shove and a victorious shout, she pinned it to the ground. It struggled in the mud for a time, but she was too strong for it, and it gave up. "Haha!" she crowed, "I hath defeated thee!"

"Nice job!" cheered the proprietor and onlookers, "Get over here! Get your prizes!" He turned back to the crowd as the snoutbeast meandered back to its pen, "WRESTLE A SNOUTBEAST! IN THE MUD! YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO!"

Keionx felt very good about this. She shook off some of the mud that clung to her and exited the paddock, victorious.

Chiara saw Keinox go for the snout-beast and immediatly changed her mind about challenging the thing at that time. That orangeblood was to be avoided... The blueblood glanced around, looking to see if her "brother" was around as well. So far nothing... Chiara happened to be right back at they haystack. With a shrug she gave the search another go. Low and behold the blueblood found a shiny metal button. Flaunting her find she also pocketed it, maybe she could use this again for next time...

Fresh and happy from her win at the snoutbeast area, Keionx knew - deep beneath the residual glow of victory - that she needed to find somewhere to clean off (before Miache saw her and made an obnoxious fuss, or some such thing). Fortunately, there were bathing areas of some nature somewhere, but as she went towards them, she spotted something interesting - a communal pot! Keionx loved communal pots - these sort of things were absolutely perfect for a hero, or really any troll hoping to eat heartily.

As it happened, she had some edible provisions from the swamp, and - feeling heroically generous, dropped in a sort of tasty, bitter, stalk vegetable...
