Riley's breath whooshed out of her in relief as the last ghost disappeared in a puff. Making sure no more were coming, she released Seul and gave him a revive then sprayed him and Mochi all over with potions. "You two did really good." She hugged Seul's neck, laughing in surprise when Mochi placed a hand on her head. It didn't seem that long ago Mochi was just a small chimchar.
While Riley was resting, a lot more people started coming in. Somehow, the house was a lot less spooky when she could imagine all the creaks and distant thumps as other people walking around. Riley rose from the ground beside Seul, patting herself off. She returned Mochi and walked back to the front door, where a woman that hadn't been there before stood. "Hi! Um, I was sent here by...an old lady, I can't remember her name, she had a Kadabra at the Pokemon Mansion? She told me to tell you she sent me." The woman at the door laughed. "That'd be Karla. Did you get a treat on your way in?" Riley nodded. "Well that's good. You helped with the ghosts, right? Take a little something for yourself, then.You can try again, too, since I reckon' you've been here a while." Riley looked up from picking her "prizes". "That sounds great." This was perfect training for Seul, especially for the Hearthome gym.
After putting her prizes away, Riley went back into the house, roaming farther than she'd had to before. All the people definitely had the ghosts acting a bit less aggressive than when she first got here. It wasn't that hard to find any though, since she was able to find a Litwick pretty quickly. "Okay Seul, are you ready?" Seul nodded, more than happy to help put more pokemon to rest. It was a bit like how he felt compelled to warn people of impending disasters- if he had the power to help, he wanted to. He glanced for a moment back at Riley. Yes, he would help.

Seul's horn continued to glow with dark energy, the Absol knowing he would soon need to strike out yet again. "Good job Seul, keep it up," Riley said, searching for the next ghost. Out of the corner of her eye she noticed him, looking almost like a reaper. To Riley, he reminded her more of an angel sent to help troubled souls than a messenger of death.

"Careful!" Riley called out. Seul leaped back just before dark hands closed in on him, attempting to drag him into the golden coffin's dark insides. The hands grazed him enough to knock off his lucky egg, but his fur was barely ruffled. Seul barked his thanks before leaping in to finish with another dark pulse.

Was Riley crazy, or were these fights harder this time? She had thought they would be easier, since Seul was stronger now, but maybe...maybe the ghosts were stronger? Or maybe he was able to fight better when he thought Riley was in danger? That sounds like Seul. If that was it, they needed to figure out how he could fight like that all the time, if they wanted to be able to beat Mael.

Yeah, Riley was definitely noticing Seul not doing too well now. But she couldn't take any time to think about it, since Seul was in the middle of fighting. "Use...Perish Song!" Riley said. It wasn't like Seul really had anything better to use in his moves. She'd have to do something about that, too... To Riley's surprise, the Gengar responded to Seul's perish song with a song of its own. The haunting melodies drifted through the air, making Riley's skin crawl and setting her heart to skipping beats. "S-seul, use d-dark pulse," she huffed out, shaking. Seul did as she said, banishing the ghosts and quickly padding over to her. "Ha... I'm f-fine Seul." Riley's chest felt like it was trembling and her stomach felt hollow. "Gosh, that sure was weird." Two perish songs together had frayed her nerves to bits. Riley clapped her hands together and to her face, chasing the shakes away. "Okay, there! Let me heal you before the next one shows up.." she said, pulling out a potion even though he'd barely been hurt so far.

When the duskull showed up, Riley didn't waste a second from straightening up at Seul's side and giving him a command. "Taunt, Seul." Seul waved his horn back and forth, egging the ghost on to attack. It wasn't very difficult to do, with such an angry spirit. Riley knew now the Duskull couldn't hurt Seul much with its attacks, and she wanted to make sure it couldn't hit Seul with that deadly toxic again. She had figured out by now that a lot of these ghosts were very similar, so she didn't want to take any chances with this second Duskull. Sure enough, without the poison hurting him Seul finished the Duskull off with barely a scratch on him.

"Okay, just two more. You okay, Seul?" Seul nodded. Even though he wasn't fighting as strong as before, Riley's strategy was better this time. For now, that was good, but most opponents she wouldn't be able to know about beforehand. She hardly knew anything about Mael, and she wasn't going to have the luxury of being able to fumble through it. I'll get better at strategy and predicting, then.

Darren hadn't even noticed that the door he'd opened had hit something, so as he stepped out in his stupor and heard Jin yell out asking who was there, he was rather shocked to see the disguised Zorua standing there. "J-Jin....?" Darren asked in surprise, though his voice was a bit raspy. Jin didn't exactly seem thrilled to see him, disappointment clear in his face, no to mention he looked rather on edge. Darren didn't blame him, he himself probably looked rather ghastly, pale and tired. But... Was this really Jin...? How had he gotten here? He was supposed to meet with them at the pokemon center, and what was this creature that he had with him....? Darren's expression darkened to distrust, backing away from what appeared to be Jin as he asked if he'd seen Sable somewhere. "No, I haven't... I'm looking for her." Darren answered truthfully. Whether or not this was the real Jin, Darren didn't see the harm in answering the question, but given the circumstances, Darren couldn't help feeling wary of what his eyes saw. He turned then, starting down the hall he'd been let out of and searching every door he came across. Jin followed suit, though just to be sure, Darren checked even the rooms Jin had already looked in, though it wasn't long before Jin spotted a group of pokemon huddling outside one of the rooms. Jin ran over to them, and Darren, though he wasn't sure if he could trust that this was the real Jin or not, couldn't help tagging along.
If this was all some sort of illusion, it was a convincing one. He recognized Sables pokemon, they were all attempting to beak down a door, and failing. Jin pitched in once he was caught up on the details via Oaken, and Darren couldn't help feeling uncomfortable at the sight of the claw Jin produced for his hand. Thankfully it was used against the door rather than him, and when he'd managed to open the way to the room, he instructed the pokemon to watch the little fox pokemon in his possesion before walking inside. Darren hesitantly made his way to the door as well, peering inside as Jin explored the interior. Darren was on guard, and seeing the coffins within the room and the tortuous implications, he felt sick. Flashbacks that he'd long since buried into the furthest reaches of his consciousness resurfaced briefly. Darren covered his mouth and gagged, quashing the memories before they got any worse. At first it seemed nothing was there, Darren was about to go search a different room when he saw Jin pick up a pokedex, which soon rang out the description for a cofagrigous.
What the Zorua did next was absolutely brilliant, deleting the entry and scanning the coffins around the room until he found one that the pokedex responded to. Darren, wide eyed, stepped closer, about to grab a pokeball, but Jin had this handled, slamming into the ghost and forcing it to open. It grabbed the Zorua who's illusion wavered, but he was able to grab something from inside the coffin and thrust it out before getting pulled in himself. "Jin!" Darren was worried about the Zorua now that he trusted it, but as Jin yelled at him to "help her", Darren's attention fell to the nearly mummified figure that Jin had thrown out. It was Sable. Darren didn't waste a single second, dropping down to her side and tearing away at the wrappings around Sable's head and neck quickly. She needed to breathe, she needed air, that was the first priority, but she was limp. "S-sable....." Darren was panicking, trying to focus on his task at hand, but he was shaking so much.... He didn't want to believe it, didn't want to register that she wasn't breathing, but he had to act fast. Thankfully, even though he was feeling like he was losing his mind, his body was still responsive and doing what he knew he needed to do. "Y-you're going to be alright...." Darren murmured. Was he reassuring her, or himself....? "E-everything's... Going t-to be okay...." He trembled. He wasn't even sure if he believed the words himself....
Next he freed her torso, that way the tight wrapping wasn't constricting her lungs either. There was still bindings along the rest of her body, but they weren't important at the moment. Her head and torso were free, that would allow airflow. He laid her out on the ground, checking her vitals. After taking a moment to calm his shaking hands, he wasn't at all certain that there was a heartbeat, but he knew she wasn't breathing, and he needed to fix that. He'd already laid her out flat, so now he just needed to get some air in her lungs and continue checking for a pulse. He pinched her nose and held her head in place, hesitating for a moment before placing his lips on hers, blowing air steadily back into her lungs and pausing for a moment to listen as her body automatically breathed it back out. The issue now, was whether or not to perform full CPR. If her heart was beating, it would be dangerous, but if it wasn't, he was wasting precious time. "Come on Sable...." Walking Pokemon ⇨
For a moment, Darren really would have something to panic about. Her body didn't respond to touch or sound and tearing the bindings away didn't let her start breathing again. While she did have a pulse, it was slow and weak, so the shaking of the teen's hands would likely have obscured it. His first attempt at mouth to mouth hadn't even had any real results, the only exhalation being from the weight of her chest and gravity forcing the air back out of her lungs. It was only after the second attempt that he could see that there was still some life to her, her chest rising and falling slightly in reaction to the lungs having been filled and emptied again. She still wasn't getting much air on her own, but it was an improvement over no air at all. Plus, if Darren could manage to pick up her faint heartbeat, he'd probably be able to eventually notice that it wasn't getting any weaker, so although the female trainer was in bad condition with the number of small cuts visible even on just the portion Darren tore free, having so much of her life drained, being choked twice, and nearly freezing, she was stable and probably wouldn't get any worse if something didn't try and cause her harm.
Jin was outright panicking while trapped within the unconscious cofagrigus. He couldn't hear what was going on just on the other side and couldn't tell if Darren - at least, he was really hoping it was Darren - had answered his pleas or not. And if that wasn't really Darren... Had he just signed his trainer's death warrant by trusting him to save her? The illusion pokemon bashed about inside the cofagrigus, trying to get himself some opening to crawl out of. Without any focus, though, it took him a while to figure out where to strike and how much for him to be able to roll over the ghost from the inside. Once he managed it, however, all it took was for him to nose open the lid enough to squeeze himself out, although with his illusion not quite what it normally was, it likely would have appeared bizzare as bits and pieces were clipped and cut off before simply phasing through the obstruction. The illusion was all appearance and no texture, barely better than a hologram would be.
Once free, the zorua quickly looked for where his trainer was. It didn't take him long to spot her, and when he did he could feel his chest ache and his throat try to close up."...Will she... Be okay...?"he quietly asked as he moved closer, stopping and having the illusion kneel a little over a foot away. He seemed scared to try and get any closer than that, as if him doing so could potentially make her condition worse. The real Jin, hidden by the comparatively-weak illusion, stayed about the same distance away, keeping low to the ground and anxiously watching the unconscious teen. Both versions had tears welling up in their eyes, although the illusion did a much better job of keeping them from spilling over than the little zorua could.
Jin almost tried to move just a tiny bit closer but quickly stopped when he heard his own voice lauging from somewhere in the room. The eyes of both the real and illusionary versions narrowed as the dark type looked around for the source. Sitting on one of the closed cement caskets was apparently another Jin, one that seemed to find the amount of suffering going on rather amusing."That b***h just doesn't know when to give up, does she? Even after all that effort, she's still clinging to some pathetic scrap of life."The false Jin laughed again as his eyes begain to glow blue, and after sliding off the stone casket the lid slid off and several bindings with a blue glow surrounding them snaked out of the interior."Well, whatever. The others can work at finishing her off. I might as well..."A sneer crossed the fake's face as the bindings were angled as if they were watching Darren."...Prep their next meal!"The bindings then quickly lashed out to try and get to where Darren was, latch on, and pull him inside the casket.
They didn't get very far, though, as the Jin that had been kneeling suddenly disappeared and the one standing near the casket had a little furry bundle of darkness ram into his gut. The surprise of actually being hit plus the strength of the attack itself was enough for the faker's psychic hold on the bindings to fail. It also caused the false Jin's appearance to falter, revealing..."Keh?! The hell was that for?!"...A gengar that was looking rather irate about the sudden change in events."And here I am trying to help ya out! Fine!"A grating sound filled the room and began sapping the strength of those within."If you feel like wasting your time with these worthless humans, then by all means, suffer with them, ya weakling! Once you and those pests are out of it, you'll be easy pickings for any other ghost that wanders in here!"A ball of dark energy charged in the gengar's hand as it spoke."And that's assuming I don't kick your a** and leave before time's up! Next time you see these piles of trash, they'll be in pieces!"
The shadow ball seemed to hit its mark, knocking Jin away and making him land in one of the wooden coffins. The ghost quickly used his power to make that coffin close up and be chained shut. "Let me outta here, ya b*****d! Unfortunately for it, the gengar was not looking in the right way, and had been about to try again with keeping Darren from being able to flee the area when he got slammed into by the dark puffball yet again. That had been enough to finish the ghost off, and as it faded away Jin just looked like a tired, pissed off bundle of fluff."...Done... Stupid ghost..."With the gengar, the grating noise also faded into nothingness, but Jin was still feeling worn out as he curled up on the floor.

Darren's eyes lit up with hope as he noticed Sable's shallow breathing. "Th-that's it.... That's it, come on Sable!" With a snap, Darren's helpless state was gone. He felt for a pulse again, forcing his hands to stay still. He felt it now, her heartbeat, fragile but growing stronger. Tears of relief formed in Darren's eyes. He'd practically been in shock earlier. Now that the danger was over, he let his smothered emotions surface. He would have hugged her, but he was afraid to cut off what little oxygen she was getting. Now that her safety was assured, Darren gave her another examination, noting the many new cuts and bruises starting to form on her neck and arms. He helped to free the rest of her body from the restrictive wrapping, checking in every so often to make sure that she was still breathing, still living. "Heh.... You really are a fighter aren't you..." Darren's smile was warm and filled with relief, but Jin... How was Jin doing? He'd managed to defeat the Cofagrigous, Darren himself had focused on Sable because Jin had instructed him to, and also Jin's main issue consisted of getting the lifeless coffin off of him. Sable's condition was worse, but now that it was at least stable, he turned his attention to Jin.
The zorua had finally flipped over the coffin and poked his nose out to free himself, but what exited the coffin was a very odd creature, twisted and malformed. Darren recalled that cofagrigous had ability suppressing powers, one that Jin was likely struggling to fight off now. The zorua looked awful, frankly, but managed to look even worse as he noticed his trainer's condition, asking weakly if she would be okay. "I think so.... She's hurt, bad, we need to get her to medical care stat, but if she isn't hurt between then and now, I think she has more than a good chance at recovery..." Darren assessed, looking over Sable's face with concern and brushing the backs of his fingers along her cheek.
His assessment was met with a wicked laugh, and Darren's expression was stricken with fear, snapping to Jin. Had he really just been a ghost the whole time?! No, he wasn't the one who was laughing. Darren glanced over to a new figure, who held Jin's appearance, but was clearly not. It mocked Sable, saying that she didn't know when to give up. Darren grit his teeth, feeling anger burning up within him at the words, but as the false Jin's eyes glowed blue, a nearby casket opened, the bindings within snaking out of the interior, towards Darren and Sable. Darren took hold of Sable and scooted them away slowly, staring fearfully at the bindings, and as they lashed out for him, Darren moved Sable behind him and braced for the worst, holding his arms up defensively.... but when nothing came, he peeked out again. Jin, the real Jin had slammed into his evil counterpart, revealing it to be a Gengar, and one who was quite irate from being attacked. He slammed Jin with a shadow ball and sent him flying into one of the coffins, which slammed shut, leaving the Zorua trapped once more as he kicked and thrashed about. "Jin!" Darren yelled in concern. He made for his bag, attempting to get Flynn so that he had a better defense, but as he was digging through his bag, movement caught his eye. A little Zorua, moving in the shadows, unnoticed by the Gengar. Jin's illusion had been thrown into the coffin, but Jin himself wasn't. Darren kept up the panicked act though, long enough to distract the Gengar so that Jin could finish it off.
It was done. Darren took a moment to process everything. It was all such a blur.... Jin laid down, clearly exhausted, but Darren quickly moved to the Zorua and picked him up. "Jin..... Thank you." Darren hugged the little fluffball gently, bringing him over to his trainer. "Keep an eye on her, I'll see what I can do in the way of getting us out of here...." Darren insisted. "Heeheee~ Don't tell me you actually thought this was over...?" Darren stiffened at the voice of the hex maniac. "I still have lots of friends that want to battle you. You won't be leaving until they're all satisfied! Kehehehehe!~" Daren's face contorted into a near snarl as he slammed his fist against the wall. "There's nothing more she can give you when you're friends have nearly killed her! Leave them alone!" Darren demanded. "Ugh. I guess you'e got a point. A dead fighter isn't much good.... Hmm... Alright, I'll help you out just this once!" The faceless voice suggested. The coffin like room suddenly shifted to a more familiar looking interior, that of a pokemon center and a rather tired looking Nurse Joy. "Heal up fast, I won't be able to keep my friends distracted for very long, fufufufuu....." Darren's angry expression didn't change. Their circumstances had shifted, they were being allowed a break, but who knew how long it would last. Still, Darren would take advantage of it while he could.

Jin smiled slightly at Darren's thanks and his tail could be seen wagging weakly from under the teen's hug."Just... Doin' my job..."Even the zorua's mental voice sounded rather weak at the moment, but he didn't seem too concerned about that as he sat where Darren put him. Instead, he seemed more concerned with getting his illusion back up, and now that his emotions weren't so badly out of order and he wasn't dealing with the cofagrigus' ability, he was able to take on what was mostly his usual illusion. The biggest difference, though, was that he looked deathly pale, mostly as a result of having to fight off the poison he suffered earlier. That didn't seem to bother him much as he waved in the rest of Sable's team, who were poking their heads in to see what all the commotion was. The five pokemon, plus the little gekkit, came over, and Jin took Sable's bag from one of them and started looking through it for some potions to use on the group of pokemon.
When the voice of the hexer that poofed him to the house sounded out, Jin ended up growling quite loudly. The dark type wasn't even surprised by Darren's brief outburst, mostly because he was about ready to kill something himself after everything the group had been through so far. Thankfully, though, the outburst was enough to convince the malevolent hexer to give the group a brief break, and soon the team found themselves in what was apparently a pokemon center. Jin didn't know how long they'd be allowed to rest, but he wasted no time getting his trainer brought over to be treated. Sable was moved out to the back rooms where she could be laid down to get some rest while the majority of her pokemon were treated for their injuries and ailments. Jin also had to be treated but had to be held down rather firmly as an antidote was injected into him to take care of the poison that had been causing him so much trouble. He had been fine with the potions, but the moment the syringe came out he immediately became a handful.
With the team being taken care of, Jin sat down on a cushioned couch for the rest of the time that they were allowed to be at the pokemon center. It didn't last, though."Time's up~"With that, the room once again shifted and the group was back in the coffin room. Some of them, anyway."AH! Sable!"Once again, Jin was back to panicking as he realized that his trainer was not with the two males. His panic broke briefly as he yelped from being hit on the head by one of several falling pokeballs."Oh, quit acting like a torchic with its head cut off! She's right where you left her, getting some sleep. Lazy broad."Jin glared a bit at nothing in particular as he stepped back and caught the yipping, frightened gekkit that poofed into existance above him."In the meantime, someone has to do some battling in her place, and since you like playing human so much, you get to be the trainer~"
Jin didn't even bother protesting the idea this time as he set down the gekkit since he figured if he did, it'd just mean his trainer would be tossed back into this hellhole. He didn't get very far beyond that thought when a familiar bout of laughter started up."Keheheh! So now the useless fluffball is gonna be an even more useless trainer? What a load o-Urk!"Just as the gengar faded into view, Jin wasted no time grabbing onto the gengar with both hands, throwing it to the ground, and stomping it before it could phase through the floor. That... Was one way for him to deal with a ghost."No, no, no! You're not supposed to be the one doing the fighting, hairball! You're supposed to just stand there and look stupid while shouting out moves!"Obviously, the hexer didn't agree with Jin's methods."Try a stunt like that again, and the next ghost you fight'll belong to that pathetic trainer of yours!"Jin growled a bit at the threat as he clipped his trainer's pokeballs onto the belt that was part of his illusion's outfit."And you're not supposed to dangle a steak in front of a hungry mightyena without expecting it to chomp down. Keep that gengar away from us and I'll keep out of the fights."There was a distinct growl in Jin's voice when he snapped back. He was getting tired of all the ghosts around here, and really pissed at the one that sent them to the house in the first place.
Jin: "Screw the hug, I need a pecha berry..." *tail wags slightly anyway* Joking aside, yeah, so many hugs are needed by everyone. There's... No way in hell I can justify Jin's disobedience rolls as him actually being disobedient once he gets to level 26. XD More that he's feeling too exhausted to fight efficiently. Sable's definitely gonna have to face Misty soon. XD Surge too, probably.
Spray antidotes always seemed weird to me, so I went with the syringe version. And this will provide part of the explanation for why Jin gets so freaked out when Honey tries to hug him. XD
For the fight mechanics, I know I missed a couple of ability things, specifically Honey's ability getting changed to Mummy and Intimidate activating, but... Well, Swarm wouldn't have gotten any use (or lack of use) anyway since Honey's HP never got low enough for it to matter and none of the opponents Amethyst went up against got to use physical attacks. XD ...And that poor Froslass never gets to use Hail... XD

Zak stayed on the couch while his pokemon -- namely Deys -- continued battling. He seemed intently focused, working on replies, programs, and, between tasks, playing a game. He frowned in annoyance as the hail storm started up when Deys began battling the Froslass, and grimaced at the several Blizzards his pokemon cooked up, but didn't let it deter or distract him much from what he was doing. He was pretty fine with the cold, it was just.... a bit annoying to have the couch frosting up around him, especially if it melted and soaked the thing. Not to mention his electronics. He glanced over as Deys finished the battles, preparing to heal up his pokemon in lue of the inevitable restart, but paused and glanced down when he got a message. From 'Miss Fortune'. Hm...
He wasn't sure how eager he was t read it, but in the end, he slid his bag out, letting his pokemon heal themselves (it was fiiiiiiine) and focusing on reading the message. He didn't even really notice Froakie shuffling around about the closet, finding a candy and, with a glance over his shoulder, eating it.

Zak reclined back against the couch while his pokemon took to healing themselves. He pulled up Scarlett's message, expression wary and uninterested, but a smirk crossed his face as he started reading. Oh... She misunderstood. Well, he'd have to clarify that, then. He grinned more at her response to his Teacher comment, letting it die down to a smirk before reading on. And then stopping. He stared for a long moment at the message, then turned, lifting an arm up to rest his elbow on the back of the couch and place a hand over his mouth. Seriously.... Wow. He glanced back at the message, trying not to grin at that. What a horrible innuendo. A horrible... great innuendo. Oh, the girl had spunk. It was really, really too bad she wasn't a guy. They could have so much fun....
Then again, this could be a ploy. He shook his head, trying to shake off the amusement rising up in him like a hot air balloon. He actually had to hold back a laugh. Alright... Alright, there was definitely something interesting about this girl. He wasn't sure he really wanted to admit it, but... he was pretty sure he couldn't deny it at this point. She was, at the very very least, amusing, but he was trying not to let himself take an interest. She was an investment-- just business.... For now, at least.

But, ploy. A farce. This could just be some sort of trick to try and think she had some kind of sway over him, or something he offered. He ground his teeth a little, spending probably too much time thinking on it than he would later like to admit. Well... it wouldn't hurt to play along, at least...

He contemplated it a moment, then hit send. Okay, enough. He needed to... change focus. He shook his head slightly, then glanced over, stopping a moment when he noticed Sotnik giving him an unimpressed stare, and Deys watching him from the corner of his vision. He bristled. "Vat?" he snapped, grimacing. He shoved his hand into his bag, yanking out one of the Lucky Eggs and tossing it to his froakie as a Litwick appeared. "Hold onto zat," he muttered, grabbing his computer to pull it up over his lap and get back to work. Immediately, he immersed himself back into his work, ignoring the exchanged look between his starter and partner.

Dumuzi stood in front of the large, wooden door where she was prevented from entering before. Organ music flowed muffled through the large rotting wooden door to float a little ways down the hall and into the wayward halls and rooms close by. The twisted soul of the deranged man who had done all of those horrible things was now waiting for her to come in and face him. He was either going to be adding another corpse to his collection, or he was going to face judgement and be brought to where he belonged tonight. There was no middle here, a line had been drawn and if Dumuzi wanted to get out of here, there was going to a Pokemon battle like none she had ever fought before. There was a stern look on her face as she prepared herself to go in and face whatever madman was resting behind those doors. There wasn’t going to be anything to help her or her pokemon if anything went wrong in this room. It was going to be all or nothing, live or die! Du took a deep breath and pushed the doors open, there was some resistance at first but eventually the groaning doors gave way to what was once probably a very beautiful entertainment room. Lounges and chairs sat stripped mostly away to their bare essences were still resting in front of a gigantic fireplace that was still alit with dancing indigo flames. Bookshelves lined the far right of the room and the organ that she heard was resting in the far left corner of the room. Odd nick-nacks and other things that were usually used to entertain your guests were scattered around the room in various states of repair. Dumuzi looked around but didn’t see anything at first, that was until a tall, dark and rather handsome man materialized near the fireplace, his upper arm was raised to the mantle where he was leaning closer to the fire in the fireplace –seeking a warmth that he would never feel again. Du said nothing, but glared at the specter until he finally seemed to give her some notice. At first it was a slight tilt of the head in her direction.
’They had such lovely screams when they died. It filled me with a pleasure that I have never felt before. It was so stifling growing up under my father’s reign, but eventually I found my own escape. He was the first body that I ever saw… and it was so Liberating!’
”And for that, you killed all those people in such a terrible way?!”
’Yes… the more agony and panic in their last moments, the better their screams became. Oh such lovely screams! I so wish to hear them one more time.’ The specter turned to Dumuzi, his being bathed in an eerie glow of the indigo flames. ’And I found one more victim to add to my collection. Now that you’ve released my playthings, I need a new one. I suppose it’s for the best, I was getting bored of their octaves of agony. A new chorus is in order, wouldn’t you agree?’
”Sorry, but I’m not ready to give a performance just yet.” Du’s eyes narrowed aggressively. The more this guy talked the more she hated him. What kind of a monster was he anyway? Murdering because he liked it? That was the sickest of the sick.
’Excellent! I do so love it when my prey puts up a fight, their screams are the sweetest cacophony I ever hear!’
Eight pokeballs materialized around him and he floated closer towards Dumuzi who took out a pokeball of her own.
