I think what he meant was for Umbra to sense a dist., go check it out, and find a dimension of reailty/causality that, if left unchecked, would cause the end of all other dimensions in a domino. Then, in order to save them without obliterating everything, appeals to the past counter- parts of the major players in the cataclysm to make things right. Perhaps a reason Umbra can't fix it solo is to do with the exclusive link to destiny that the main characters all have with the alt. ones? Does that help at all?

It starts with Emmit Creating a ruckus or something of the sorts. Maybe he's just bored since things have been a little to peaceful lately. Maybe he just wants to spar but knows nobody. Beats me. It's up to Chaos, Corvo and Crasher how things are going to role but for the sake of the argument I'll put a little story.
Corvo's Bardo Mission Starts kicking in. And Illo starts beating up some demons in the world on a survival rampage to see how much would he last. Emit seems to be Really excited about the match. Depending on Emit and Illo's Choices they may bump into Eva who will give them the berserk Gene. It would seem Eva was bored because of the starting match. Many of the contestants were amateur demons that grew intimidated by Illo's strength. As the battle progresses. The small demons become mysteriously, stronger, faster and vicious. Which takes Illo by surprise The match becomes more and more dangerous as it progresses. Every 3 fights. A stronger Demon Cameo would pop up. (An actual character with their Cameo)
Regardless of the result as soon as Corvo looses a fight the tournament ends.
Emit gets excited for the fight and he wants to spar with someone. but he's too hotheaded and doesn't go easy on people so he's labeled as a rampant demon. That means Donovan is sent to aprehend him. Either way he doesn get it easy which ends up needing Illo's intervention. That alone should be enough to satisfy Emit's eagerness for combat. Up to them if it's by sparring one another until their heart is content.
They start their training. And the Act 1 is officially closed.
Act 2: The reaping is coming (RP TIMELINE) [Arc 1 Crew] [Act1 week]-[Act 2 week]-[Act 3 week]

During the battle both of them create an powerful explosion which for unknown reasons sends Umbra to the future. The Queen is nowhere to be seen. Finally, he gets a grasp of her whereabouts. She seems to be asleep. However, just as soon as he thinks everything might be over the invasion starts. And he has to fight them off to keep them from awakening the Queen. finally, he comes into conclusion that the horde is endless and it would be safer to erradicate both dimension. (The one he's standing right now, and the one from Alt Dovelette) but he tries to give people a chance. He travels back in time Back to Act 1 Week Where he warns Illo and Emit about the situation, Maybe Samantha too?. Being them the strongest fighters he could find in this realm. Giving them 2 weeks before the invasion starts.
And with that Act 2 is officially closed. Since he would focus Mostly on Keeping the Queen at bay. You may move Samantha freely tho.

Is an Easter Egg. Regarding the Crew members Mission to find out about The queen's past. (Why no other crew members are here to defend the city)
Pretty Much The Queen and Umbra's Presence is one Big Easter Egg that justifies this setting.

Meanwhile Samantha and Emit get to Face the great Trio.
While the fight is on. Donovan is abducted to Alt Eva's realm where truth would be unfold. And with that we close Act 3.

I hope you aren't insinuating that the Bardo Chapter leads into this mission. It's ok if Illo has the vision from way back then, but the logistics of starting the mission there are all the way messed up.
The timing is a bit too evenly spaced for my taste.
