“I... uh... n-no... I'm not a leader,” Paris said haltingly.

The idea itself was rather absurd if you asked her. She didn't exactly have a good track record, nor did she have any real leadership qualities that she was aware of. She might have her own reasons for fighting, but she doubted any of them would ever lead her into a position like that—if she even wanted a position like that, which she didn't. No sir. Paris was fine leaving that sort of thing to other people. She didn't have the patience for it, and she was a bit too self-aware to even take herself seriously under that type of circumstance.

“The Senshi don't really have leaders that I know of. I mean, there's the princesses, but...” she shrugged, “no one's really obligated to follow anyone. Some of us gather into groups and teams, but it's not like there's anyone going around telling everyone what to do. And no one in their right mind would ever listen to me, honestly.”

Paris allowed her hand to be caught if only because the gushing over her rings and her status as a married woman led to a slightly less awkward change of subject. “I'm twenty. Been married for a year. My husband's a knight. If there's one thing the war's good at it's making people grow up too fast. Not much of a reason to take things slow and wait to take the next step when you might die tomorrow.”

The moment that she'd puzzled out that Kaatje was in the military, Keren might have (read: definitely) gone on youtube and found a bunch of pseudo-boot camp workout videos. That, and she'd always been an athlete. So when Kaatje asked her to drop and do pushups, the younger girl was ready! "Right," said Keren, with a giddy grin, dropping to the platform.

Her form, of course, was carefully practiced, and she did twenty, and then two more, because she could.

"Alright. Easy," she said, hopping back up to her feet.

Sirsce smiled at her partner once her name was given. She responded in kind. "Sirsce Xanthis!" She considered offering a hand, but settled on leaning closer to her new partner and dropping her voice to a low whisper. "Super Sailor Leda." Afterward she drew back, settling onto the ground to count for Liliana as she began to position herself for push-ups.

As she counted, her mind yearned to wander to darker times, but the methodical and logical tracking kept her focused. She watched Lily very nearly touch the ground with every count and envied her slightly. Would Sirsce be able to perform as well? How long had Lily been at this? A swarm of questions struck her during the round, and before she fully realized that Lily's part of the endeavor was over, it was Sirsce's turn.

"Um, I haven't done push-ups in a while..." She mumbled nervously while she figured the general position of her hands and feet. Her posture wasn't great, but the spacing felt right. "I wish I brought a hair tie." Offering a nervous laugh, Sirsce started on her rounds.

Soon she remembered the tricks taught to her in high school years and adjusted position slightly as she continued. Her breathing pattern fell into pace, successfully keeping her from overworking herself. Surprisingly she felt only a mild burn at ten, and elected to continue at her current pace until a good heat flared through her arms. Little did she realize that a good heat lay just beyond the realm of twenty push-ups... And she was glad she could make it that far. With a satisfied huff, Sirsce pulled her knees beneath herself and sat up, hands crossed loosely in her lap. "Whew!" She huffed, satisfied.

While Angel harbored no ill will toward those who arrived late, everyone knew the Londoner couldn't keep deadlines well, she grew marginally flustered at the insistence that he should begin first. However, she offered little outward objection toward the blonde's actions. "Go ahead," she offered, unable to keep a fleck of flippancy from showing in her voice. Afterward she gestured toward the ground.

Crouching, she laid one arm across her lap and poised the other against her knee so she could rest her chin in her palm. Ice blue eyes looked over the man's frame as she counted, observing how he held his posture. It looked good, he looked good, she was satisfied. "Twenty-one, twenty-two..." She kept count in a whimsical fashion, halting when Colin offered her a link. She blinked a couple times afterward, muttering a surprised "Oh." What was she supposed to make of that? Hitting on her already, maybe? Well, at least he's forward about it.

"Right, of course," she agreed with an air of confidence to Colin's explanations of push-ups. Inwardly she cringed at the exercise; as a kid, she never learned proper form, and grew to loathe the activity due to her inability to perform well. After fighting to assume proper posture, she finally coughed up the truth. "It's been a wee bit long since I've done these... And I've never been good at 'em. Try not to laugh too much; wouldn't want to hurt a girl's feelings, would you?" Not like he could, but the statement was repayment for that wink earlier.

Her hair practically engulfed her face as she looked toward the ground. Worse yet, Colin offered constant encouragement that not only distracted her, but embarrassed her - and Angel found it difficult to deal with a flushed face and a top that cut low enough to threaten to spill its contents. So she didn't dress particularly well for this endeavor... And her partner had a way with mortifying her. Great.

There were more successful push-up-doers (pushers?) than there were those who did poorly. Kaatje counted off Keren's pushups as she watched the rest of the group carefully--she'd been PT monitor during her time in boot and was used to watching for people who were Doing It Wrong or generally looking ill. The fellow in the flip-flops, she felt, was not going to make it to the run portion of the day. Everyone else made her feel pretty hopeful for her side in the great war between Chaos and Order: there was Liliana, banging out pushups like it was her job. Tallulah and Jeanne both made it over twenty. Knightlight, surprising, needed work; Maggie, paired with Tallulah's friend Paris, was having a happy conversation with her teammate and had made it to twenty-four pushups.

That was when Kaat dropped to do her own pushups, only stopping at 36 because it looked to her like everyone was done with theirs.

"Alright," she said, "Good job, everyone. You in the flip-flops. Bo? I saw you puking." Had everyone seen him puking? Probably. "You need to hydrate and if you don't drink at least two cups of water, I swear to God I will ground you. Don't think I can't." She dismissed everyone for their water breaks, taking a few sips from her own canteen in the meantime. It was a little tempting to chug the whole thing, but she wanted to save that for right before the run.

When everyone was back, she said, "Upper body strength is important. Even if you're a total pacifist and never fight someone a day in your life, the time may come where you have to save another person. If you can't make it through at least eighteen pushups, your ability to carry that person to safety may be compromised. So: if you made it over eighteen, good on you. If you didn't, keep working."

Kaatje paused. "Either way, keep working on it. Take a leaf from the book of the boy scouts: Semper paratus."

That said, they did have to move on. "Now we're doing sit-ups," she said, "and like pushups, there's a specific way these have to be done. You will lift your head off the ground; at no point once you begin will your head touch the ground. You will not grab hold of your shirt; keep your hands flat against your chest. Your elbows will touch your thighs before you go back down. The standard for this is thirty-eight sit-ups in a minute."

She frowned at them. "If you start feeling sick, stop. Nausea is your body's way of telling you you need more water, so stop and get some. Alright, you have your pairings: go."

Lily finished her pushups and felt good getting as many done as she did, she grinned as Sirsce got down to do her own push-ups and she started counting for the girl. "We already know each other, apparently," she said still grinning, as Sirsce finished her pushups. She dropped her voice to a whisper even though this was an all knight and senshi. "I'm Sailor Maia," she said quickly before hoping up, "I'll be right back."

She ran over to her brother who obviously hadn't expected to see a senshi puking, not that he was grossed out or anything. "Not everyone trains as much as we do Xander, thats sort of the point of this. Now um do you have an extra hair tie. My partner needs one."

Xander nodded and fished one out of his pocket, "here you go, I have more if anyone needs one," trying to keep an eye on others and only have paying her attention, "dont forget to drink up."

Lily grinned, ignoring his telling her to drink up, she wouldnt forget "I figured as much, you have more hair then anyone in our family at present."

Xander frowned watching his sister run off, giving a shot about how he had hair ties for anyone that needed it making him shake his head, turning to Marcella. "Got any siblings?"

Lily trotted back over quickly and handed Sirsce a hair tie, "my brother always has these, he has to keep his hair back in the hospital. Shall I go first again, while you get your hair out of the way."

She laid back and got ready to do sit ups getting in position and starting. She went quickly at first, but then she thought about how she'd be out patrolling tonight and stopped short. "I don't want to exhaust myself," she said softly, "I dont fancy getting my butt handed to me tonight. Your up."

Tallulah had known her luck was going to run out eventually - one did not simply breeze through two rounds of exercises without it catching up to you! She got to about eighteen before her stomach cramped up and she could go no further.

"Augh," she panted to Jeanne, flopping back onto the soccer field. "Okay. Sorry. Your turn."

Tallulah gets a +1 for Teamwork, so she's got a 5 this round.

[ 4 + 1 = 5! Whoo~ ]

He was a puppy-dog, really - and he had no idea how uncomfortable he could make people just by being himself (or how obnoxious he could be read as, even when he was trying to be nice). Which was why he didn't read Angel's discomfit and cavalier attitude towards him as anything but her being...well, a person? Colin could be delightfully, terribly oblivious sometimes!

The way she halted at his wink did give him a little pause, however - he was naturally a flirtatious sort, but he didn't mean anything by it (usually). But it was soon passed over in favor of helping Angel to get herself into proper position; keeping her there and having her do the push-ups was a whole other story, no matter how much they both tried. "It's okay. I probably wouldn't be able to do them either, if I weren't a dancer. Push-ups are hard if you haven't trained for them." There was nothing in his tone or manner to suggest he was making fun of her or didn't mean what he was saying.

"I wouldn't laugh. Jut because you're having trouble today doesn't mean you won't be kicking my butt tomorrow." God he could be irritatingly upbeat, couldn't he? And then there was the fact that she wasn't exactly dressed for the sort of things that Kaatje was having them do - a loose shirt without a sports bra? - he was being a gentleman as much as possible but he couldn't help a glimpse or two no matter how hard he tried.

Eventually they were dismissed for another hydration break, during which he sought out a familiar face for just a moment, waving at Paris while he took the little break afforded them. Bo - the guy that had puked and was wearing flip-flops - got called out and Colin felt bad for him, but this had been labeled a "boot camp"...it had just made sense to wear good sneakers, comfortable work-out clothes and bring something to keep his hair out of his eyes. Then again, he was more used to exercising and stuff like this than most people were...so maybe that had more to do with things than anything else?

Next up, Kaatje informed them they would be doing sit-ups. Proper sit-ups, even. Fantastic! Colin was totally ready to go for it, but this time - since he'd already done some penance with the push-ups, he'd let Angel decide if she wanted to go first or not. Either way, he was good with it; he would encourage Angel and count her sit-ups first if she wanted to start this part. Whenever his turn came about, he would set out confidently.

Unfortunately, he was a bit too enthusiastic - and after doing only nine sit-ups he got a stitch in his side and had to stop. "Ow, ********." His face took on a rather pained look and he un-curled, laying against the grass in a bit of a shrimp-curl with on hand pressed against his side. Yet another case of his confidence kicking his a** in the end and causing him trouble. If Angel had decided to let him go first? She'd have to wait for him to uncurl a bit before he could count hers out well, but it would happen. One way or another.

Internally, Luca beamed. She had certainly done over 18 pushups, and so could carry someone to safety! Hooray! Though she didn't quite know what semper paratus meant. She'd have to ask Kaatje after the event was over. Thirty-eight was a daunting number, but her previous success boosted her confidence. She could do this, totally. So, she assumed the sit-up position and began to do her sit-ups.

...Unfortunately, her results were wholly lackluster. She didn't even make it to twenty before she began to feel just a bit woozy. She flopped onto the ground with a frustrated groan. "Crap. I think I need more water. Be back in a second," she said, heading over to the hydration station and getting some much-needed fluids back into her system. She was a little embarrassed at not making the cut after feeling so confident, but hey, you can't win them all...

Sirsce gasped excitedly upon learning Maia's name, happy to have finally put two faces together for a full identity. So she was the one who helped to train Leda so long ago... She wondered if thanking her for her earlier help was too brazen in this setting. She chanced it regardless. "You have no idea how much you helped me," she offered in an equally low voice. "I mean, thanks to you, I'm not dead." And had she never attempted combat training, she was certain of her fate.

After accepting the hair tie and restraining the flow of tri-colored hair, she flashed Maia an excited smile. It felt good to be around others who faced her plights, who knew what it meant to have tried and failed, even just once before. They weren't fallen, though - and Sirsce needed to channel that devotion herself. Maybe teaming up with Lily proved far more beneficial than she initially thought. "Sure," she accepted readily.

Kneeling next to Lily, Sirsce pinned the girl's feet to the ground as best she could as she watched Lily manage sit-ups. Sirsce felt little resistance against her hands, which meant her partner must've been pretty good at them. And after Lilly's statement, Sirsce gave a nod of support. "Yeah, totally. Um, I don't think anyone will mind. It's better if you're ready, right?" Afterward she scooted back from her position and readied herself for her stint of sit-ups.

Which she dreaded. A lot.

Surprisingly though, as she began, the exercise itself felt far easier than it had been in the past. While her core shuddered and fought to weakly bring herself toward her knees, the feeling soon faded as she found a rhythm to the motion. She wondered if her success had anything to do with all the physical activity that came from being a senshi... It had to, right? It wasn't like Sirsce spent time exercising otherwise. Still, she felt both excited and relieved to have managed her sit-ups without total failure.

Afterward she laid against the ground with an exhausted sigh, staring upward toward the trees for a few moments. "That's hard," she confirmed with a worn smile. "After this, I've gotta get a drink."

Kaori_luv

"Huh! Your enthusiasm's something else, Colin. I wouldn't worry about me - just a spot caught off-guard is all." She framed her hips with her hands as she spoke, head cocked to the side just slightly enough that her thick ponytail brushed against the back of her shoulder. "I never got it down, is all. Besides, I don't think an agent's gonna tell me to drop and give 'em twenty any time soon." Soon after, Angel flashed him her own brand of impish wink.

Clapping her hands together, Angel strolled toward the tables of fluids to sate the thirst that built up in her system. It felt good to lean against the table for a moment, cup in hand, and watch the remainder of the people gathered intermingle for the break. Ice blue eyes settled on their event organizer, Kaatje, and her mouth thinned to a pursed line. I wonder what spirits are hovering over you. If you can lead anyone, you've made yourself vital. Let's hope the spirits don't just toy about with your fate - but maybe destiny's a bit of a trifle for us. We're all demons, after all.

After downing the last of her cup, Angel tossed the disposable and returned to assist Colin in managing his sit-ups. She found it easy enough to hold his feet down, though she still felt distracted by her thoughts. Idly she counted, almost to herself, as he endured the repetitive paces of the exercise.

Until he pulled a muscle, anyway.

"Swell job, Champ," she offered teasingly, giving him a pat on the calf. "Looks like that time for kicking your butt is today, eh?" Afterward she laid not far from her partner, offering a quick smirk before she folded her arms across her chest and slid her feet beneath a nearby gnarled tree root. With a strong core, sit-ups proved little challenge - she paced her breaths accordingly and retained her focus (surprisingly enough) for the duration of the exercise. Inwardly she suspected she lost count, because her sit-ups numbered in the low forties. That was a fluke, right?

Sometimes Angel surprised herself.

Looking back over at the man next to her, Delilah gave a nod. "Appears to be that way. I am Delilah. A pleasure." She smiled as he got down. Watching his form, the raven hair girl had to wince. Upper body strength was going to be an interesting one for her.

"Fourteen. Not bad. I am impressed." She smiled before a deep inhale. "Let's see if I can make even one."

Hands on the ground and toes behind her, Delilah worked slowly as she tried to breathe. It was when she hit tweleve that her body shot out and she felt her arms go from underneath her. "How was that?" Her eyes looked up to her partner.

It was the next order that made her nod. This was easier for her than pushups. Looking towards Finn, "I'll go first on this one. Then maybe we need to grab some water as well?"

Dropping to her back, Delilah closed her eyes for a moment before crossing her arms over her chest and lifting up. Forty-Five Situps later, she laid back down and inhaled. "Hello abs...."

Jeanne patted Tallulah's shoulder when she collapsed, giving her an encouraging smile. "Y'still did pretty good, I'd say," she said. Especially given the last two rounds.

The red-haired girl shifted into the situp position and started going, getting to thirty before her stomach started to protest painfully and she had to stop. "I'll be right back, gotta go get s'more water," she said, standing up and moving rather quickly over to the drinks.

Rolled a ten here (or just scroll up).

"That was really good!" Finn said to Delilah, having counted off her twelve push-ups. He didn't know how experienced she was as a senshi or what her athletic background was, but twelve seemed like a respectable number - especially when he considered that he'd only managed two more than she had, and he considered himself to be in pretty good shape!

"Yeah, I'll go grab us some waters after this round," he said, holding Delilah's feet as she did her sit-ups. "Wow!" he clapped as she finished. "You're a freaking beast. Now my turn, yeah?"

Forty-two sit-ups later, Finn grinned at her. "So that's where all the rock climbing finally pays off," he said. "I'll go get us those waters."

Returning a few moments later, he tossed Delilah a water bottle. "So, uh, like I said, my name's Finn, and I fight evil by moonlight as Babylon knight of Mercury," he said, sitting back down beside her. "How about you?"

The teen had to admit that she was impressed at their pairing. Random or not, they seemed to be keeping up with each other. In a way, that made the girl feel good about herself.

When he returned, Delilah reached for the water and sipped it. She did not want to cause an upset stomach by downing it too quickly. Sounded like someone was already having nausea problems.

"Delilah. I'm not sure how I feel about throwing out other lives but okay. My second job outside of being a student is being a senshi. Sailor Phact, Senshi of Doves. How long have you been doing this?" She asked motioning around to everyone.

[Warm up // 8][Push ups // 7][Sit ups // 3]

"I totally get this being new. I just found out about this whole...thing last week, maybe?" She gave a sheepish grin. At least so far she was turning out pretty good at this physical thing. That had to count for something. But then she thought back to the battle she'd had with the youma and Sutai the other night. She'd pretty much had no idea what to do and panicked. If she'd been on her own, she would have been a lost cause.

"Oh, but I'm from Ireland. Near Cork, if you've any idea where that is. I moved here for school." Kinley offered up before Kaatje started throwing out more orders. She wanted to talk to Arias more, but that wasn't why she'd come here. Okay, well maybe part of why she'd come here was to make friends. That would definitely happen though. She was pretty much a natural at making friends. "Guess we better keep working though! She seems pretty tough!" She laughed a bit before dropping to the ground for her sit-ups.

Maybe she should have been more focused on the task at hand and less on socializing. She'd also forgotten that she'd done a modern class with a lot of core work the other day. Now she could definitely feel it! She couldn't even manage to get to 15 sit-ups! As she sat up, shrugged a bit. "Guess I did all my showing off with my push-ups and left none for my sit-ups?" She put her hand over her eyes to block the sun as she looked up at him.

Arias laughed at the girl's last comment. "You did a good job!" he promised. "Sit ups aren't my forte, but we'll see."

He didn't seem shy about discussing things as he settled into position. "I visited Ireland once, but only for two weeks. I'd like to talk to you about that—you know, after this." Talking wasn't necessarily easy when he started doing his sit-ups.

It was now more than ever that he was really feeling the cupcakes; he had a good start with his sit-ups, but after ten he realized that if he wanted to keep the contents of his stomach down, he needed to stay down.

He wasn't necessarily a competitive person, but he worked hard to at least match Kinley's sit-ups before he flopped backwards.

"…Maybe we'll do better on the next one?" he asked, cracking a hopeful grin. The ground seemed like a comfortable place so he remained there for a good few seconds after his last sit-up. "…So you’ve only been doing this for a week, huh?" he prompted. "You know, if you ever want someone to patrol with, I go out a few times a week. I mean, if that's something you're interested in."
