Violet the Maestro DJ Hope 1990 Violet the Maestro DJ Hope 1990 Okay So the theme has not been settled yet but we do know for sure it's not going to be Masquerade. So are you three still intent on this? If so I want start making the arrangements. Violet - I need to know what ideas you'd had from it so far. I also need to get the art committee setting up graphics for our RP too. Is there a theme you wanted to go with along with it? Like Phantom of the Opera Masquerade? I need more people on the committee. I will need your guys help in making sure that people want to get involved. What the room was going to be like was a modern day masquerade using loose references from the Masque of the Red Death, since I was going to be Prince Prospero. So sorta a Gaia-appropriate, PG-13 masquerave is what we were thinking. And I can find some people to drag in. Okay. Lets get some ideas rolling - Myst was not incredibly keen as i can tell. Its not written in stone - and I have never read/seen Masue of Red Death - so It'll be hard for me to incorporate with something I'm ignorant of. Do we have any other ideas we can discuss and throw out there too? The fact that I found it online, amazes me. I will now hoard this site for myself...or maybe share it. At the moment, I don't have much that wouldn't be a branch off the 11th. I had planned the masquerade to be a room last year, but stuff ended up happening so it had to not come into existence and so I got to do the floaters instead. Honestly, I feel like we should have something that can be theme neutral, but still where we can insert hints at what the ball's going to be. Like maybe a stargazing event or a magician shows up. Oh mister Poe. how you delight me. I like the idea of the stargazing or magician. O_O ... I really like the idea of incorporating Astrology into the ad rp. We'll wait for ultima and myst to respond cuz I know Myst wasn't too terribly keen on Masquerading lets see what else we can get thrown out there.

I'll do whatever...but I don't necessarily want to be staff/an official roleplayer this year. Last year things got pretty messy with figuring out who was actually thread staff and who was just a roleplayer (my character is an official RP character but doesn't actually work at the cafe), and it caused a LOT of confusion, so...I dunno, maybe I'll just be a guest this year? I haven't made up my mind. yum_puddi

My only concern about the masquerade (or any party-centered) theme is that it might prove to be really hard to keep that up for a whole year, plotwise. sweatdrop Even as an "eternal" masquerade, we might run out of ideas.

Life gets unpredictable and I'd hate to be pressured to have any part of plot hinge heavily on me and an unforeseen absence. At times I felt like we also grasped at straws for plot/story continuation. ps: Alvy I'm working on an ending to the Joe/Natalie arc. Its a slow process.

My whole thing is that like I said before, I got treated like staff even though I didn't have any power...and frankly I don't WANT to get into OOC drama. I know it happens sometimes, because we don't always get along with everybody, but it makes me hugely uncomfortable, so I don't want to wind up in the position of referee. On the other hand, I will say that I think we need a main thread host who isn't afraid to moderate when the time comes. Because things can sometimes get out of hand so fast, and I'd hate to see any RP destroyed because there are players who have problems with each other behind the computer. (I've seen this happen in other RPs, and it's so sad! crying ) Anywhoooooo...yeah. I just want to play and have fun! That's why I RP in the first place! emotion_bigheart And...Inky, thank you so much for still working on the conclusion to the Nat/Joe arc! emotion_kirakira I still play Natalie, both in the cafe and in another thread, so I definitely want to see how this plays out! Oh, and I've gotta PM you about a plot bunny I started about a month or so ago. whee

Well. You guys never had me around. heart As the head of the advertising committee I have standards. Anyone who is my staff will have a FULL list of what exactly their responsibilities and my expectations are - and I don't lay too much responsibility on anyone. If you guys are moderators you would have moderator power - it may have to wait til i get on to actually block a person or whatever - but everyone will be given my skype which i am on almost constantly and whatnot so you can reach me. its also a matter of what do YOU want to be? What do you want responsibility for? this is volunteer as everything on gaia, and I don't put too much pressure on anyone. Help is nice - but RL always comes first. If someone feels uncomfortable playing the active moderator type - then I will gladly take that role as long as I have eyes and ears who knows what is going on and can point me in the direction for me to look at what is going on. If i have mods who don't want to be the ooc referee like Miss Alvinette said, then I would tell her I just want her to keep an eye on things and report to me or another active mod who is able to take that leadership type of role. I also won't accept anyone who can't be a positive leader. Someone who can take control of the situation without being disrespectful to anyone, someone who is ... for lack of a better term: professional. That's just me. But being a guest is also a very big help to me too, even if you're not a mod. Helping me keep it alive is in itself, a duty, a job and I appreciate everyone who wil be contributing to that. Either way - if you two choose to not be moderators no one is going to blame you - because its hard work and no one needs to be forced into responsibility on something they won't be being paid for. Star party? Anything more specific to throw in? Parties are hard to maintain all year - so ... How about we take the other themes that were thrown in there too. We could do an academy of sorts - Star magic is something that goes well in mythology. We could incorporate some kind of Goddess/God constellation thing. Literally we could have "star beings" ... hmmmm... -fiddles with ideas-

Well I was thinking a star party as a sort of mini-event. I think if we have a bunch of different mini-events within the same thread, it shouldn't be that hard. Star parties are usually where people go out and look at the stars together. I get some together randomly at my school cause there's a few people in my floor who have never gotten to see the stars this clearly.

We could even have a school dance (*coughs* masquerade*coughs*) as well as other 'schoolized' events. My thing is do we wanna go with the school thing? It was the idea that came in second to zodiac. So I was thinking we could twist it up.

Whatever theme you go with, you've got me. I won't be participating as any staff, but I'll be one of your regulars.

I have been working on affiliating with some guilds, but the roleplaying thread really helps us out. I'm pretty sure that once we have a meeting, things will fall into place quite nicely. Committee Violet Says: What sort of a twist are we talking here? I'm really interested in that. Also, I'm trying to bring my brother into the AURB. So, most likely, I'll bring him to this committee, since it's one that I think he'd be pretty good in.

Hey, also, just a suggestion, I would try to keep everything as walk-in as possible. Try not to overdo the character profiles and structure to make it more accessible to random people who want to join in. Otherwise, you might end up with just the people from the ball roleplaying. And, while that is fun, it kind of defeats the purpose, so just keep that in mind. I also advice against an OOC thread since there won't be one during the ball, and those things often aren't check often anyway. Even if it might look a little tacky, I recommend allowing notes at the bottoms of posts just to keep things simple and unconfusing. biggrin

I would really like some help. I also REALLY bloody need the graphics commitee to step up their response to me. Months between responses and graphics is NOT making my job easy AT ALL. I might as well just try to do the art myself at this rate. (sorry. Rant over) I would love to get into one of those meetings. My problem all along has been timing. I was moving to a differet country and what not. So now that i'm stable, I just need help figureing out time zones. It doesn't help we don't really have anyone but you and myself, and my "maybe" co-head that has yet to respond to me other than the PM of me asking her to be my new co-organizer of this committee. -sighs- ...

I LOVE good structured threads - but after all this isn't really going to be an outstanding RP. It's more of an attention grabber - where all of the regulars draw attention to he guild and the ball. I will also be advertising throughout the rp with my own character. You are afterall, right. razz

Sorry for the late in coming... Haha....
A masquerade actually sounds fabulous to me, and I rather enjoy the idea that we could relate it to a school-type dance. Perhaps we could have it be a private high school/university (just so we can get older characters involved as well) and just have fun with it.
As for staff vs guest... I would have no qualms being a staff, so long as my expectations in so doing are laid out (like... what exactly do I need to accomplish, etc). This is my first year actually working to help set this up, so I want to make sure I'm doing this right. : )
