She had come so close. She wasn't going to fail this time. Naian launched her glider, hunkering down against its back as the sky opened up around them.
This time, the fog brought a shock of anger that hurt like a slap. Naian cried out as she felt anger, fury, a sense of betrayal that was not her own. She very nearly turned around, and in so doing the glider lost altitude. No... no! She wouldn't let these wisps get in her way!

Hmm... Lets see here. Eidhis was strapped to a glider in no time. These things were a true mystery. She found what looked like a crank and turned it all the way. She put most of her weight on it to make sure it was cranked up real good. That should do it. She thought to herself as she got herself snug and ready for flight.
A ping sound struck her ears and then nothing. There was a soft unwinding sound but no flight. Making a pout, she decided to try again.

Having had no trouble at all getting fragments, Sarviur was quite surprised to find that he was struggling now. Perhaps...if he just did it more slowly...

Her altitude was already good; as she entered the island area, the glider shook, but a friendly updraft lofted her up a few more feet. This time... this time. She would make it.

Maybe...maybe Sarviur needed to try it from a different angle. Or maybe even - what if he didn't need to spin it all the way?
Yeah, that miiight work. Maybe. There was no shame in trying, at least; when he'd spun the little crank all the way it had been pretty damned fruitless. And at least it would take way less work, so he could be less disappointed when it didn't work. Yeah!
He boarded the glider, gave a little useless sound like he was doing work, and waited for that little ping of disappointment. But nothing came except wild trembling, and Sarviur frowned to himself. Was something wrong? Maybe he had been - WOAH WOAH WOAH HE WAS NO LONGER ON SOLID GROUND WHAT WAS GOING - dayum but fog was cold.
He sat back, little eyes wide and blue heart pulsing a mile a minute.

Alas! The third time was not the charm for Annabell, not this time at least and she was once more buffeted down into the fog and the cold. She did not ponder anything as she fell, only regretful she had failed the gliders in her promise not to use them all up.
