Liona shrugged at the Father's comments. "Who knows, it might not be all bad. Maybe we'll find ourselves a nice fat juicy pig." She brought two hands to her face to form something akin to a rifle before continuing. "Nick her in between the eyes and pop!" She straightened and took two of the bullets to refill her pistol. "If no one accepts our bills, I suppose I could keep it as a souvenir. We could all sit by the fire one day, feasting on pork chop and telling them stories of a world where money once ruled all..." she said dreamily. The woman enjoyed acting so suave before the others, especially the Father. She didn't miss his tight-face when she had arrived all cool and things, and thought that it would be nice if they all relaxed – not so much that they dropped their guard, but enough so they don't become short-sighted. It was a fine balance.

"Hey hotshot, it's nice to see your beautiful face again and in one piece," she said as she turned away from the Father and towards Micheal. The Father's suggestions for someone to watch their vehicle did not escape her, however. "One of you can do it. I'll check up on Polly."

She had heard the girls talking about jobs, and it was at the job board that she found them. "Howdy," she greeted them before approaching to get a better look at the listings.

"What's a job you asked? Hm...a job is..." Polly was about to say a job is where her dad went to make money for their family, but stopped herself before she started. She did not want to bring up the girl's father in fear that she may start crying again so she dropped the part about her father and restated her thoughts. "Well a job something you do to make money so you can buy anything you want."

By the time Polly finished explaining, they arrived at the job board and saw the two jobs available. Polly looked at the jobs and decided that the first one would be a lot better for them to do because it doesn't require direct contact with zombies. When Polly was going to decide to do the first job, she heard a voice behind and turned around to see Liona standing behind them. "Liona, what are you doing here? We were just about to go retrieve someone's engagement ring from their house. We may even find some extra supplies they left in their house."

Sandy paused and thought about what Polly said deeply for a moment before blurting out: "So... if we get enough money we can get rid of all the bad people?"

Michael whistled as he strolled back to the car, in a good mood since he had found what he wanted, and was perfectly fine to boot. As he approached the car, he noticed Liona and the Father standing by the car, and Ambrose heading off somewhere with a rifle. "Hey yourself, lady." He pretended to tip a hat to her. "Found some scrap metal lying around, car's gettin' a few band-aids." The mechanic chuckled, placing his handgun in its original spot inside the glove compartment before getting down to work. As Liona walked off, he blinked confusedly as he reached for his tools. "One of us do.... what?" Michael scanned Father Malone's face. "Oh, uh, watch the car? I can do it. I'll be working." He circled around the car, noting what areas needed the most attention. "Maybe check out the auto shop,? See what they can do for us. I'd do it myself, but, yeah."

Michael placed his not-so-new gains on the ground and cracked his knuckles. Time to get his hands dirty.

Sandy must have meant the zombies when she said the bad guys and thought maybe Sandy really shouldn't go with her on the job. So she looked at Liona and said "Actually Liona great timing. Can you do me a favor and bring Sandy back to the car? I think I should do this alone. I'll just rush in and out of the house quickly, find the ring and maybe pick up some supplies laying around and meet you guys back at the car."

Polly then squatted down and with a smile answered "Of course" to Sandy's question and added, "I want you to go back and wait at the car with Liona ok. I'll be back as soon as possible. I'll get all the money I can to help stop the bad guys." After saying that, Polly set out for the house that was shown on the job board.

POLLY Mission Start!**

Mission Type: Recovery*****

The young lady departed the safe zone, leaving behind her friends and hoping this outing wouldn't be her last. She followed the directions the man had given her and, staying to the shadows, had managed to find her way to the street she needed to find. The suburbs weren't far from the supermarket but they were certainly not spared the destruction of the rest of the city.

Many dried bloodstains and bodies were scattered about along with wrecked vehicles and more than one fire that still smoldered of its own accord. She double checks the address she was given and looks around seeing the house next door had been completely decimated as a fire had consumed it into its entirety and it appeared as if the remnants of those flames were beginning to make their way towards the couples' former home. In the distance, she could hear moaning down the street but there was nothing in sight. The front porch seemed stable enough, the door was open but she couldn't see anything wrong with it though she also noticed a cellar door on the side of the house. She quickly pondered what to do.

OPTIONS:

1 - Enter the front door.
2 - Enter through the cellar door.
3 - Wait and examine the area further.

** - Other players may post and perform actions in town, or go on missions of their own. It will not interrupt this one.

***** - If a player fails a non-lethal JOB mission, they will be wounded for up to 50% damage and will lose ALL supplies they may have managed to gather during the mission before being transported back to the group.

Liona grinned. "What am I doing here? I'm here to check up on you, sweetheart, obviously." She glanced at the board, looking for the job that the teen had mentioned. A wedding ring for a tire... She found it notable that they would have been exchanging a smaller hoop-thing for a larger one. Her eyes gazed over to the other job, but before she could have a chance to read the dangerous job listing thoroughly, she heard her name and a rather off-handed request for her to watch over the child.

It made her forget all about the second job listing. "Hey, wait now hold on a sec–" Liona stopped herself. Who was she to tell Polly what to do? Better yet, who did that girl think she was telling Liona what to do like that? "Ughhh. Come on Sandy." You're not dying because of me... She ran a hand from her forehead and through the rest of her hair as she put a hand on Sandy's shoulder to better steer her back to their car, determined as much as possible to leave the girl with Micheal.

"Polly's off to find some guy's wedding ring in exchange for a tire. The job board said it wouldn't be too hard, so..." She shrugged, seemingly unconcerned for Polly's safety. "Did someone suggest to head to the autoshop?" she asked lightly.

"Hm? Back already?" Michael peeked out from under the car. "Oh, yeah, I mentioned something about the autoshop. Might be nice to see what they can do. Before you go though, Liona, I gotta say," He grabbed another piece of scrap metal before sliding back under the car, "you really did a number on the bottom here, hoo-jeez." A small clank came out from under the car. "Axel is scraped to hell." He chuckled and climbed out from under the car. "Good thing you guys have the best in the business with ya."

He started lowering the jack, finished with the repairs to the cars underside. "Anywho, I take it you're going to check out the auto shop? Feel free to leave Sandy with me, I love kids." Once he finished lowering the car, he cleaned his hands off and pat Sandy's head. "Hey kiddo, wanna see what's under a car hood?" Michael chuckled again as Sandy eagerly nodded her head. "Give me two shakes and I'll open it up." As he began picking up his tools, he noticed he still had 3 pieces of scrap left on the ground, and he just used one. After thinking about it for a second, he shrugged it off. "Eh, whatever." Jesus was on their side maybe, Malone was here after all.

Michael walked back to the front of the car and sat Sandy on his shoulder. "Alright, get ready to see something real cool." He popped open the hood with his free arm and began pointing out various parts, smiling at Sandy's amazement at it all, and realizing this was probably how his dad felt when he was Sandy's age.

At Micheal's joke/comment, Liona crossed her arms, but it did nothing to help conceal her scowl. With the wind and the rain and the unexpected detours, there was little she could have done about the vehicle's condition. Back in the city, whenever there was no one the company could hire in short enough of time, she was often the one consulted to pick up and drop off props. "Lightning Liona", they called her, for her amazing track record of getting things on time despite rush hour traffic (though few knew about the moves she'd pulled off in secret, ones that would have gotten her a little more than a few demerits had she ever been caught). Needless to say, Micheal had hit a sore spot.

"Whatever you say," she said, if not a little testily. At the moment, she couldn't care less that they had the best in business with them. But then again, she was careful not to let her rage get the best of her just yet. Maybe she really was only overreacting. But, a little voice in the back of her head told her, maybe Micheal should have been a little more considerate with his comments.

She gazed at the scene with the priest, the mechanic and the child. She hasn't missed the Father's disapproving looks towards her from earlier, and recollection of them only made her blood boil more."Feh." It was really time to step away and take a breather. "I'll see you later," she said as she turned to make her way to the auto shop, and never turning to look back.

Pittsburgh Auto Shop

As Liona entered the shopping center's garage, the sound of a wrench clinking on metal echoed off the walls. The shop seemed well maintained despite the circumstances. Only two large street-sized generator powered lights cast illumination upon the older mechanic and the vehicle with which he currently was occupied. Upon hearing the approaching footsteps of a visitor, the man shot upwards and his head clanged against the hood.

"Argh! Son of a--"

Rubbing the back of his gray-haired head, he turned to Liona and grinned.

"Oh, heya there miss. Come to check out some of what I've got left in store?"

After Polly left Sandy with Liona, she followed the directions from the job board to the couple's house. When she finally arrived at the couple's house, the sight slightly shocked her. Polly knew that something bad was happening, but this was not really what she expected, blood stains on houses, bodies laying everywhere and a fire that was about to light the couple's house on fire. "Well if I don't do this quick, I may not be able to complete the mission without being burned," Polly said to herself.

Upon hearing the moaning down the road and the fire, Polly decided staying there and watching was not going to be the best decision. Now there was the front door and the cellar door...The front door was open and there didn't look like anything was blocking it, so Polly thought to herself that I would probably be the fastest way in and out. Polly then quickly jumped over a couple bodies and entered the front door.

Polly's Mission!

Option 1 Selected.

Polly quickly rushes in through the front door of the house, knowing she wouldn't have much time before the dangers of the fire or arguably worse zombies caught up to her. Upon entering the domicile, she is assaulted by the disgusting scent of burnt flesh. Evidently one of the undead had gotten caught in a nearby window and was being burnt steadily, creating horrid fumes. The trapped creature was blocking the way into what she had to assume was the bedroom. After thorough examination, she saw that there was a large set of cabinets in the front living room and the kitchen appeared to be untouched, along with a screen door that looked as though it might lead to the backyard.

Option 1: Shoot the trapped zombie and enter the bedroom.
Option 2: Search the cabinet in the living room.
Option 3: Search the kitchen.

"That I'm here for indeed..." She gazed about, browsing the store and inspecting the merchandise that was available. Her fingers trailed along a sign as she read the details of a battery, but when her wandering pointer finger happened upon the double digits at the corner, and her eyes widened just a tad. $52?!! Keeping her cool, she moved on to the next sign. Dammit, these prices are off the roof! Well, not really – they couldn't have been the only ones considering fleeing the zombie apocalypse, and this vendor was only matching supply with demand....

But still.... She withheld the urge to grit her teeth when her attention happened on the poster board advertising the vehicle upgrade. Given the poor luck they'd been having with the weather, improved tire traction was exactly what they–what she needed. If only they had better tires from the start, then perhaps they would have hit that section of the road before the car pile up was there, and then she wouldn't have had to steer through the terrain and build up so much damage on the station wagon's axel.

Of course, if they had been any earlier, than there was always the chance that they could have been part of the car pile up themselves, but Liona was still sore about Micheal's axel comment, so she couldn't have cared less about the alternatives.

But no matter how hard she might wish for it, they had no money for the upgrade. "I don't suppose you would take credit on that over there," she commented in what she hoped was a sultry voice. Her voice was naturally on the deeper and stronger end, and she'd long since watched enough movies and seen enough of the theatre girls playing it up on stage to want to try out the voice on her own once or twice. Having taken drama classes back in high school, Liona would have liked to consider herself to have had a pretty decent grasp of the ropes herself, but she much rather enjoyed being behind the scenes and doing the heavy lifting, herself.

"The weather on the way here was so bad..." she said, suddenly deciding on how she was going to play this. "I can't believe they made me drive, but a girl's gotta pull her own weight sometimes. But this guy, ugh. I thought he was on my side but then he just turned and yelled at me for the axel getting scraped up. He's fixing it now and..." It was then that the idea came to her. "He's a mechanic, you see, and I think it's gotten him a little to his head. You'd think he's superman, the way he goes sometimes."

She sighed. "You see, the reason I ask about your tire upgrade is... I'll tell you plain and straight that we don't have the money. So this "friend" of mine has the smart idea... Well, I think he said that he'd wanted to work on the tires next. Said he wanted to carve out some lines to give our wheels better grip. He says he knows what he's doing, but I think he'd sooner puncture a hole and give us a flat tire... And who knows what might catch us if we blow our tires once we're out of town..." She hoped the man would catch on to her "predicament".

The old mechanic rubbed the back of his head as the young lady worked her wiles on him. At the mention of credit, he nearly burst into laughter.

"I'm hopin' that was a joke, miss. There's no credit anymore. There's barely cash anymore. Even if there was, anybody with half a brain is gonna be out of this town and moving west by tomorrow."

He allowed her to continue, listening intently to the woven tale, the mention of another mechanic made him grin but for some reason he felt bad for the young lady.

"Argh... Well, how about I give ya a discount? Half-price on anything in the shop. I can't go any lower than that, I got my own family to take care of after all."
