"Mmmyes odd, one way of explaining such a thing & quite an acceptable one indeed. But as for wherein my "peculiar" speech comes from, I could not tell you, only suggest the truce that asks I elaborate upon what I say in means most appropriate to yourself Miss Yei." Idris chuckled & inclined his head a little, his expression that of someone who has admitted a wrong or an oversight with pride & acceptance. But upon her mention of abandonment his chipper mood dulled a little, along with the lustre of his brown eyes, composure & posture faltering a little. But he pulled himself back up again, quickly, guardedly & forced a wry smile.
"One prefers not to meander about the memories past Miss Yei. But should you much desire an explanation I can give one for it will not force me into much discomfort." The stallion said evenly, though it was more on the softer side of being even, as though he could not be willingly or unwillingly harsh.

She wasn't blind and although she had never shared any close relationship within any stallion she could still spot when one was uncomfortable from a mile off - so much so that she knew within a instant that there was something amiss in relation to his parents and it was wholey inappropriate for her to asked given that she had only just met him. Yes she loved gossip but she also knew when not to overstep her boundaries...
"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to." She pointed out at last, her drooped ear giving a small twitch to fend off a rather infuriating fly, "You've only just met me after all, you have no idea whether or not I would tell it to the world!" She cooed, attempting to brighten up his mood slightly as the forced smile and dulled eyes were even making her uncomfortable.
"You can be rest assured that I wouldn't though." She added.

The brooding sulk that took the male left, his features brightening with as much speed as they had soured, ears perking & eyes posessed of their original brightness. The smile, rather than being forced, widened & became genuinely bright & personable.
"I do think anyone with a mite of calibur would be hard pressed to find such a trivial tidbit awfully interesting....Tis something surely that comes around many a time!" Idris chortled, puffing up slightly with the newfound enthusiasm & letting his head loll to the opposite side again before snorting at his forelock to get it back into place.
"But at any rate Miss Yei, one is loathe to inflict such a tidbit on an acquaintance mmmyes, most uncouth, most unreasonable." He burbled on, nodding to himself after speaking as though pleased with his coclusion.
"Would the gracious Miss entreat this one the option of a spot of humble chit chat? One does not find the time to excange idle banter with others than often."

His moods changed as quickly as the winds did during the winter season and once again she struggled to understand what he had said. She could only assume that his overzealous language was a reflection of his mood and due to his manner and the bright spark in his eyes she could only guess that he was happy.
...Why did she have a feeling she'd have to keep him in a constant state of melancholy to understand him?
"Some enjoy conversing about their past and expressing how they feel, but that's usually with close friends." She mused at last before flashing a small smile and giving a nod, her own eyes brightening considerably as she sensed to opportunity to borrow some more of his vocabulary.
"Of course I have time for idle um...banter." She chirped.

Upon her use of a word that he often spouted from his own mouth he emitted a rather delicate, but still heart felt, chortle that ended in the brightest of smiles & a rather random swiveling of his perked ears.
"Spiffing! Now one has many things one would like to discuss being hardly the learned thing that one would like, but I should like to start with the news should there be any & gossip should you have it. I do -love- the occasional interesting tidbit that I hear through the grapevine." The stallion chattered in a manner that would easily show to even the slowest of beasts, how chipper & enthusiastic he was about engaging in friendly conversation. Though his voice appeared slightly reined in from time to time, as though he was tempted to run away & spout much more than his self restrain would allow.
"Oh! & of course there's much one would like to know about your good self! How you manage to keep such a darling shade of red clean & unbesmirched as your pelt is. One has such terrible trouble keeping mine own dull shade of brown tidy." He mused slightly, giving himself a brief study & nipping at another bur that had this time round, decided to attach itself to his shoulder.

Gossip? There was quite a lot that happened in these lands both good and bad and to answer it would take her a life time so she would have to skip this question until she was certain of what she wanted to say. And so, instead of dwelling on the subject of gossip for the time being, she turned her attention to his second question.
There really wasn't much to say really...
"My two-legger, he often grooms me when he has time but often it seems as I sleep the spirits enjoy tending to my coat." She cleared her throat and offered a wry smile at the mention of the spirits, "It is said that they painted my pelt this colour, so it is their duty to maintain it's beauty and shine." She pointed out delicately before releasing a sigh.
"As for gossip - the only gossip I can think of at present is the horrendous attack on the Two-legger village. Everything was completely destroyed and they say that soquili and a two-legger are behind it!"

 [.M E E T I N G.] .paramekia, lonatos.
.lonatos.
Lonatos trotted through the swaying meadow. He had a lot on his mind, as he went through only pausing every once and a while to look up making sure he didn't run into anything. Lately things had been pretty busy for him, he now had a son to look after.
He just needed some time to relax and take his mind off all the things in his life that were happening. He slowly came to a stop and lowered his head as he began to nibble on the grass not knowing if anyone was around him or not.
.paramekia.
The regal stallion calmly gave a twitch of his ear to fend off a fly as he gazed out across the meadows outside the Kawani Village. Having only just arrived in a land filled with two-leggers he was considerably overwhelmed by the unique sights and sounds that he encountered (although he never allowed his expression to show this). Today was of no exception and as he continued to survey the two-leggers within the corn fields he took note of a movement and glimmer of colour amongst the green.
"Hm?" Raising a brow in a mild fashion the stallion quietly descended the small slope, his neck arching in an imperial and haughty fashion as he kept his gaze trained on the flicker of colour - he was rather surprised to see so many exotic beings present nearby, he had assumed they would all be reasonably plain.
Even so, eventually he came within a few feet of the flutter stallion and lowered her brow, simply assessing the situation and the stallions height - well at least he was smaller than him, now what else did he have over this stranger?
"Greetings..." He mused softly.
.lonatos.
Lonatos looked up somewhat cought off guard. "Um.. Hello there." He said standing up and looking at the other stallion that just walked up to him. He was not very good with talking to other stallions that well, but he tried his best. "My name is Lonatos.. who might you be?" He said in a friendly voice.
"It is not often I meet many stallions, what brings you here?" He asked curiously looking him over. He was not like anyother soquili Lonatos had ever seen before, he seemed rather different.
Lonatos fluttered his wings slowly as he waited for ther other stallion's reply.
.paramekia.
Why did they always asked his name? He raised his eyes heavenwards almost through exasperation and then lowered them once more, choosing to fix his gaze on the stallion and to ignore the question that he had been asked until he had fully assessed the situation and the stallion himself - afterall, it was wholely inappropriate for him to give his name to one who did not deserve to know it.
"I simply come here as a matter of interest." He replied softly, his voice low and soft due to the fact that he felt he should not strain himself unless absolute necessary, "I heard rumours of of great things within this region and decided to explore for myself, surely one of your calibre would understand that?" He continued before flicking his gaze towards his wings.
"Do you all have wings below the mountains?" He added with a hint of curiosity in his voice.
.lonatos.
Lonatos nodded his head, this soquili certainly was different then anyother he had met. "Well, not all of us have wings but some of us do." He said nodding his head not sure if that answered him or not.
He tried to comprehend all of what this soquili was saying, but then decided to just give up. "Well, I am sure you will have a good time here, there are many nice soquili in this region." He said nodding his head once more.
He thought about asking him a question, but decided against it, this soquili did not seem like he liked answering them.
.paramekia.
Nice Soquili, yes he had heard that before but the mare he had met had refused to elaborate on precisely which were nice. Perhaps this stallion would be different and would bestow the rather valuable information upon him?
Shifting his wait so that his robes brushed against the long grass he canted his head to the side inquisitively and pursed his lips. Choosing to ignore the c***k of the gold rings on his hair ornaments he came to the conclusion that he might as well try - after all, the stallion seemed approachable and friendly enough.
"Nice Soquili in what manner?" He enquired at last, straightening his head as he once again lifted himself to his full height, "Pleasant company, anyone specific?" He persisted, preparing his mind for at least one or two names and descriptions that he could use to look out for potential acquaintances. Perhaps if he was given this information he might reward the stallion with his name.

 [.M E E T I N G.] .yei, flame.
.yei umeko.
Pompous a**. Egotistical. Narcissitic. Meglomaniac.
Stomping rather than wading her way through the long grass of the meadows, the fiery red female was in a full blown rage following a rather infuriating encounter with the new soquili who had taken up residence at her teepee.
Initially she hadn't minded him but with each hour that passed she had grown slowly more infuriated with him to the point of having to vacate the premises. She was there first and he had to swan in and claim it for his own and whatever harem he was planning to bring to it - if he brought a harem though, she was going to bite off his ears.
"Spirit-forsaken, stuck up prat." She snapped as she came to a halt at the lake and released a sigh, gazing towards her own reflection for a long while until she suddenly realised she really wasn't very pretty or approachable when she had a face like thunder.
"Urgh." All she could do was sigh as she lowered her head to sip at the ice cool water, perhaps things would get better...
.flame.
If getting into arguments with pupils and caring for sick two-leggers weren't enough... the spirits had to become even more belligerent towards his destiny. Raising from the distant past a mare he had hoped to never see again, and with her the rumor of the legacy he had left behind.
A flesh and blood legacy that was apparently after him.
Snorting loudly, the stallion of fire paused in his headlong rush through the undergrowth to take note of his surroundings. Afterall, there was no use getting lost... Then again, if I don't know where I am... then no one else knows where I am...
But that angry note on the news tree... it bespoke a will as strong as his own, and he doubted that the winding pathways he now trod were safe from seeking eyes.
So he slowed down even further and drew a deep breath, scenting the wind for any signs of pursuit, and more importantly, water. He hadn't realized how thirsty he was until his anger had cooled.
Thankfully, the air was heavy with summertime dew, and by following the thickening of the moist air, he found himself along a well worn path to a nearby stream.
.yei umeko.
As she sipped the ice cool liquid, her anger simmered down to miniscule proportions and she finally came to the conclusion that he had deliberately goaded her for the sake of entertainment and that next time, she would ignore him so that she didn't have a face like a thundercloud, goodness only new how many soquili she had scared away with her expression.
Releasing a bemused chuckle, the mare finally turned from her place by the lake and proceeded to follow the river and across the meadows towards where the more lush plantlife lay. Granted the grass was nice by the lake but it was overly grazed so staying beside the water but a slight distance away was more beneficial.
Eventually, she became so interested in her search for fine tasting culinary delights that she became less and less aware of what was around her and more awareof the scents nearby.
...She was getting close!
.flame.
Finding the object of his search, Flame paused by the "stream" and resisted the urge to chuckle at his own misconception. The river's sedate current swirled endlessly right before his hooves, a strong and trustworthy force. Yet as he stared down at his warped reflection, another thought came to the tall stallion.
Too swim, or not to swim, I believe thats what the Ancients thought long ago... He mused silently, unaware of the slow smile that spread across his equine features.
Glancing around slowly, so as not to miss the slightest sign of another, he stepped forward, wading out into the river's cool embrace with a sigh, relishing the wash of the cool water over his body.
.yei umeko.
Evidently she was in his blindspot as she approached his vicinity, yet, she made no attempts to silence her hoofsteps as she continued forward, her left hear drooping as she relaxed and lost the last of her anger - instead, it was replaced by amusement as she caught sight ofthe very serious stallion preparing to take a swim.
...Now wasn't he the one who had scolded both Tai and herself before after she had pretended to be an intruder?
"Don't you have any manners?" She called out at last as she released a chuckle and came to a halt at the water's edge once more, pleased to see that despite the distorted image, she had brightened up considerably, "It's most unbecoming to present yourself to a mare in such an open fashion." She teased before giving a small whicker.
"Good afternoon, Flame."
.flame.
The distant footfalls fell on deaf ears in the rush of water as Flame shook himself out. The chuckle, however, did not.
Spinning so fast he almost lost his footing, Flame couldn't help the flustered expression that stole across his features as he shook his wet hair out of his eyes.
"Had I known I would be presenting myself.. M'LADY... I would have found you first and spared myself the embarrassment." He replied cooly.
"And good afternoon to you as well, Miss Yei Umeko."
.yei umeko.
"Oh-ho...someone is not a happy chappy, now is he?" Yei enquired as she broke into a fit of giggles at the sight of his flustered expression and somewhat drowned appearance. It wasn't a malicious giggle and instead, was rather warm to indicate that she was in no way trying to draw insult although...he may very well do that anyway.
""And -" She paused to take a breath, quiet and very quick spurts of laughter escaping every now and then as she attempted to regain her composure, "Might I add that you are always presenting yourself to the outside world M'LORD and therefore you should always be on your guard?" She pointed out before flashing a mischevious grin, her azure eyes twinkling with evidently inappropriate thoughts.
"I must say though, you look absolutely fabulous from my vantage point Flame," She flicked her gaze along his back as her grin grew into one that was somewhat more devillish, "I have a perfect view of your hind quarters from up here!"
.flame.
"Skip the sweet talk and head right for the ego, eh Miss Yei?" he retorted, swinging around so he faced her, rather then his hindquarters. The red imp was obviously enjoying his discomfort, so he sought to regain some semblance of composure by playing along.
"But really, while flattery is all well and good; it fails to compare to the simple truth...."
" ... And did I ever tell you how lovely the view of your chest is from down here?"
.yei umeko.
"It's very nice to know that such a charming 'young' gentleman has become quite taken with my physique." Yei replied smoothly as she gave a toss of her mane and flashed an almost sultry glance towards the stallion. Now that he had responded to her flirtacious comments he would learn to regret it as she would become more risque with every passing comment.
"It also gives me great pleasure to realise that I am so skilled in catering to his whims." She continued, her drooped ear flicking slightly as she shifted her head slightly so that the forelock could hide one of her eyes ever so slightly.
"Is there anything else you would like, m'lord - perhaps a berry boquet or a neck massage?" She offered, still keeping a smooth pace between her sentences so that she appeared completely serious.
Red Imp?
...He didn't know the half of it!
.flame.
Arching a brow delicately, the fiery stallion slowly removed himself from the water as she spoke, debating continuing the charade in the face of her never ending silver tongue. He could of course, (or so he told himself) but the red mare had been very clever in her dealings with his pupil, and if there was one advantage that young Tai had that Flame didn't, it was mastery over the fiery dance of the spoken word.
Simply put, Flame lacked his pupil's charisma and easy conversation manner.
So with a flick of an ear, he dismissed her psuedo-flirtations and answered her directly.
"A berry bouquet? Neck massage? My dear I will have to pass on the first, but if you would be so kind..." and he paused to take a himself a stride closer. "The last sounds marvelous." He added, allowing a hint of the true exhaustion he felt to creep into the words.
.yei umeko.
Yei was a little disappointed that he had dropped his flirtaciou manner as she had to admit it was rather fun and a side to him she hadn't seen before but she did take into consideration the fact that she barely knew him as it was, the last time they had met he had treated her almost as a lesser or a child for playing along with Tai.
Still, as she observed the stallion she did take note of his weariness and his tension which was something she wasn't quite familiar with as most males had taken to hiding how they really felt before collapsing in a heap after she had left to attend to other business or to return home.
However, rather than enquire as to why he was in such a state the mare simply gave a nod and offered a slight smile as he drew near. It was only when he was close enough that she started to use her muzzle to press and rub against his neck and shoulders in circular motions to relax the muscles...
Well at least she did have her uses.
.flame.
Dispite the real pain he felt, he had meant for the manuver to at least cause the mare to keep her distance. So he was startled when she pressed her soft muzzle against his aching muscles, so in reflex, he pulled away.
Realizing belatedly that he shouldn't have done that, he drew a deep breath and tried to apologize, but couldn't find the appropriate words.
.yei umeko.
Well, she was certainly used to it by now but it still gave her that snub in the nose everytime it did happen. A brief flicker of pain appeared in her azure eyes and for a few moments she turned her gaze downwards to examine her hooves until she was certain that she could recover her composure enough to at least be presentable.
"Well, perhaps a few seconds will be enough." She said at last, lifting her gaze as she slipped passed him and dipped her hooves into the shallow waters at the banks of the river. She was uncertain of how to react but she assumed that perhaps acting rather childishly might be the best option, after all...that was how he had apparently viewed her since her last meeting with Tai.
And so...she promptly gave a dramatic sigh and collapsed, judging her fall so she didn't end up with her head submerged in water.
.flame.
"Miss Yei, I..."
But any other protests Flame may have spoken were lost to him as he watched her glid past him to the river. It must have hurt her more then she was showing, and he felt like a very old fool for being so coarse with her.
So again, he tried to speak the words of apology his mind was forming, but swallowed them in a snort of surprise when she suddenly collasped.
"Yei!"
.yei umeko.
So he actually cared, a tiny little part of the stallion with a heart of stone genuinely cared (even if she was faking). Ensuring that her eyes remained shut for a while and that her chest scarcely rose, she kept her silence until a time when she was certain it was appropriate to move again but his reaction had been enough to satisfy her and she was feeling a little better.
Besides, she did have ulterior motives. She wanted to know what he was about to say before she hit the deck and probably bruised her hind quarters quite badly.
So, after a few minutes she finally opened her eyes, releasing a slight shutter and nudging her nose away from the water as it tickled the whiskers upon them - now, how was she going to address this because the 'oh my' reaction wasn't going to work and she was no damsel, he knew that by now.
"So you do care." She murmured finally. Well she might as well be blunt, he wouldn't fall for anything else anyway, he wasn't as dense as Tai in that regard...
.flame.
Releasing a pent up sigh, the stallion of fire sagged a little where he stood when she spoke, acutely aware of how much of a jerk he must have been lately.
Funny how it took a chance encounter with one such as Yei Umeko to show him that...
"Miss Yei, of course I care. I have always cared. " he murmured, moving closer to her prone figure. "And you," he began, nudging her softly on the shoulder. "Really should stop throwing yourself on the ground."
.yei umeko.
"I can't help myself, it works a treat every time I do it." She pointed out, tensing very slightly as he pressed his muzzle against her shoulder, so he was allowed to touch her and yet she wasn't allowed to touch him even when he asked for the attention because he was stressed? There was truly no justice in the world.
Nevertheless, slowly drawing herself back to her feet she gave a must unlady-like shake to loosen and readjust her pelt before flicking her azure gaze towards the fiery stallion once more, her expression almost thoughtful, possibly because she had only just registered what he had said before the 'get up' order.
"Cared about me? You've only ever met me once...Am I really that lovely?" She teased merrily as she canted her head to the side.
.flame.
Relieved that she was back to teasing him, Flame backed off immediantly when she rose, but not far enough to be considered rude, at least thats what he hoped. But this mare was unlike any he had met before, and he was beginning to understand why Tai had grown so attached to her.
"Not that you are not lovely, my dear, but I did originally mean that in general." he amended softly, a touch of honest chagrin coloring his tone.
.yei umeko.
"Not that you are not to the not with the not..." Yei mimicked teasingly as she listened to his rather brief explanation. To say the least she found it quite endearing that he now stumbled on his words whereas when she had first met him, he had been more inclined to scold her and treat her as though she were a foal...she could see why Tai was so attached to him even if he was a tad on the grumpy side on occasions.
"It's nice to know someone appreciates the effort I make to be even remotely presentable to the public." She cooed gently, flicking her tail against her hind quarter to rid herself of the flies that often seemed to lurk around the water's edge. "Even if it is in general and otherwise an indication that I need to sprout wings and have my two-legger paint pretty pictures on my backside." She pointed out, yet the chirp in her voice indicated she was in no way trying to be insulting.
.flame.
Lifting a brow at her rather accurate mimcry, Flame decided less was more, and let the teasing slide by his already bruised ego.
"Is that what you think? M'lady, you have been associating with the wrong 'public.' " He replied cheerfully enough, already feeling more at ease with Yei then he had with any mare. "If I may offer my personal opinion, painted backsides and flapping wings mean nothing if the heart of a lady is shriveled and dry."
.yei umeko.
Wow.
For a few moments she slipped into silence as she considered his words as they were those that she had never heard before and had always thought didn't exist, or rather, the words existed but didn't string into that type of sentence.
"Touche." She murmured at last, finally admitting defeat when it came that as she had nothing clever to say now that he had rather unceremoniously struck down every mare that she had ever held a grudge against. Having always had a problem with wind mares for upstaging her she had always thought that her bad luck was because she lacked those wings and now...
"Just -" She attempted to string a sentence together and then paused once more, releasing a small shy as she gave a shake of her delicate and yet very long mane, "You're the first stallion who's ever said that to me." She said finally.
"Thank you."
.flame.
Sighing inwardly, Flame smiled quietly at the red mare, all too aware of the strange forces that allowed such jealousy to fester and grow. "You're most welcome, but it makes me sad to hear you say that I am the first to ever tell you the truth." He paused after that, a small grin quirking the sides of his muzzle.
"Though.. perhaps you should spend more time with the likes of Tai. He has this odd ability to find the kind of soquili you seek... "
.yei umeko.
"What, mares with wings and ornately decorated pelts?" She enquired, failing to see which he was referring to. From the sentence she had come to understand that he meant something along the lines of the ones she disliked but she hadn't often seen Tai with soquili of that style, actually, she hadn't really seen Tai at all in recent months.
Hm.
"Or do you mean tall, dark and handsome stallions who know exactly what I want and who are prepared to overlook my flaws -" She paused as turned round and moved towards him once more, tilting her head to the side as her left ear drooped to the side once more.
"Including my high maintenance?" She finished.

 [.M E E T I N G.] .yei, flame, ti'ran. .continued from above.
.flame.
He couldn't resist the small chuckle her words provoked.
"My dear, you know him. Would he seem the type to invite his real friends into meetings with airheads?" He quipped, flicking his curly tail across his hocks to dislodge a bothersome insect before continuing. "Though an airhead he may be at times... He would introduce you to his other real friends, soquili who share the same views and sometimes pelt, but otherwise do not look to the outside appearence when they meet others."
"Now if some are tall, dark, and handsome... I really can't say. But I promise you will accepted within their circle as a friend. High maintenance or not."
.yei umeko.
She gawked.
She had made a rather forward move and he had completely missed it. Why was it that every stallion she hit on was either too chivalrous to respond or was too dense to even see it. She puffed out her cheeks through irritation towards his response and released a 'huff' of warm air from her nostrils...well it had been going so well up until this point, maybe the next male she hit on may actually respond in the way she wanted them to!
"Have you actually taken the time to consider that I may actually have friends and that having none is not the underlying problem?" She enquired cooly, raising a brow as she was still in utter disbelief at how dense he was - did she had to run up to every stallion, throw herself at him and shower them with kisses or something?
...That just wasn't her.
...Damn males.
.flame.
Shocked into silence by her expression, he felt yet another pin dig it's way into his ego.
"My.. apologies then..." he replied softly, uncertain of where to go from there. Arrogant he often was, but he was not above being apologetic for the density it often caused.
And as was the usual case, Flame's ever absent wingman chose that particular moment to stroll upon the scene.
"Well helloooooo! Flame where have you been! I've been over at that cool looking berry bush.. mhmm they were delicious!!! Did you want one? I can always go back.-" the high voice rang cheerfully through the brush, amplified by the proximity to the water.
.yei umeko.
"It's fine." Yei replied. It was an automatic response that seemed to be programmed into her after many encounters like this and as a result she didn't actually seem to be hurt her pained by what had just happened - at least he had been nice enough to provide her with a genuine apology instead of simply shrugging it off and pretending that it had never happened.
Nevertheless, before she could open her mouth to make another comment she was interrupted by the rather high pitched voice which seemed to be drawing closer to them with each word - it wasn't someone she recognised so the only thing she could do was gaze at Flame inquisitively.
"Friend of yours?"
.ti'ran.
"'Ran, you should be more social," a soft voice murmered over the natural ambience, indicating a presence other than the heavy hoof-falls that presently crunched through the underbrush. The source would have been invisible at first, as he was tucked away in the shrubbery and grasses, but before long a wolven form emerged from the shadows. He gave an unceremonious shake mid-stride, dislodging any bramble that might have taken residence in his fur, and then pulled alongside the other accompanying him.
The unicorn turned his head to looked at him then, his gaze incredulous and his expression full of exasparation. "I wonder where I've heard that before," he commented rhetorically, as though he thought it a droll observation, but couldn't quite be bothered to contest it. The way he lazily flicked an ear and looked away only strengthened the image, and the wolf didn't seem to take it with any appreciation.
"I'm serious. I mean, it's not like you've got any excuse. I'm perfectly charming - hardly an embarrassment! - and you... Well, what's not to like?" He flashed an impish grin that made Ti'ran shake his head and snort in disapproval.
"Did it ever occur to you it was of my own accord, rather than some defect on either party?"
"Hardly!" he chirped, brutally ignoring the direction the unicorn had been trying to turn the conversation. He'd have none of that, and Ti'ran gave him a frown in response. "You keep me around, don't you?" And before his companian had chance to object, he continued. "It's something you could stand to learn to like."
Ti'ran was fully prepared to mutter an offish response; he had one for every occasion in his repritoire... But he didn't have opportunity. He'd been so distracted by the drivel, he had subconciously followed A'ier all the while... And it didn't occur to him he was doing it 'til the sound of voices cut over the background babble of a stream. By then it was too late; the wolf was already trotting delightedly toward them, and Ti'ran was left ambling behind, mentally chiding himself for his absentmindedness.
"Greetings," the wolf called warmly (from a comfortable distance), and gave his tail a purposeful wag to further accentuate his intention. If the soquili grudgingly bringing up the rear wasn't obvious enough, surely that was.
.flame.
Wincing at the high pitch, Flame half turned to level a baleful glare at his traveling companion. "Gully... now is not the ti-"
But he cut himself off when it was apparent the bear wasn't paying attention.
'Well well well! A lady friend! Flame I'm PROUD of you!!!" the white bear paused to look at Yei up and down, then nodded in satisfaction. "Pretty too, when's the wedding?"
Flustered, the stallion was about to lecture the bear on what was and was not appropriate when another voice interrupted him.
.yei umeko.
"Wedding?" Yei felt the heat rise n her body as the white bear began to chatter away to Flame, she was rather surprised by how quickly the bear jumped to conclusions and was even more surprised that she moved even faster than the mare did - it was really quite refreshing and in a way, she found it quite funny.
"Oh, I doubt we would get along but I suppose we can find him a pretty mare, don't you think?" She enquired silkily before pausing, her thought process briefly interrupted as the wolf crept out of the forest and greeted them in a surprisingly polite manner.
She gawked. She couldn't help herself.
...Automatic reaction!
Her jaw dropped rather rudely when she saw the stallion behind him and became aware of the fact that he had a horn on his head - unicorn. Ack! She hadn't even put all her feathers on this morning or brushed her mane and tail, she was not as presentable as she should have been!
Wincing, the mare forced a somewhat uncomfortable smile onto her equine lips and offered a nervous chuckle, fighting to regain her composure as she spoke, "Afternoon!" She replied in a rather chirpy voice, "And who might you be?" She enquired to the wolf before glancing at Gully and tilting her head to the side.
...She wanted a pet bear. They were cute and fluffy, ideal for a girl like her.
.ti'ran.
The conversation they stumbled so rudely into caught even A'ier by surprise, and he had been the one so looking forward to it. The wolf had to conciously prevent himself from gaping, and chuckling in amusement... It might not have been the best way to start a first impression.
Ti'ran, on the other hand, couldn't find it in himself to bother, so it was probably a good thing his expressions were so diluted. The most it coaxed out of him was a furrowed brow, though one might have been able to spot traces of a smirk, was he to pay close enough attention.
"It is a lovely one," he started with a pleasent grin. "I'm A'ier." The wolf then turned and peered pointedly at his traveling companian, who nearly ignored him.
The unicorn was so distracted, he almost didn't notice A'ier's insistance. What was she doing?... Or rather, why did they always do that? "Ti'ran," he managed at last, and peeled his gaze from the bright one to exchange it between them.
Two soquilis, and a charmingly forward bear. This should be fun, the wolf mused to himself. Ti'ran knew that look; het met it with trained disapproval, and made an attempt to halt the interaction before the wolf tied them hopelessly involved. "Sorry, we were just passing through..."
.flame.
Grinning broadly, Gully twisted lightly on his feet and walked over towards the wolf, completely unabashed.
"Greetings A'ier! Would you like a berry? There's a rather nice bush a little further that way.. I thought about bringing some but I was distracted by Flame and his fiancee-"
"GULLY!"
.yei umeko.
Fiancee?!
Yei's eyes bulged as the bear suggested that she and Flame were in such a relationship before she began to laugh somewhat uncomfortably again. Admittedly he was a charming stallion but she was friend's with his pupil and if she were to become anything more than a friend then that would make her like Tai's mother...and that was just a very, very strange thought.
It justwouldn't happen, but she still found the fat and very fuzzy furball to be unbelievably cute.
"I - uh..." Having recovered from her shock she shook her head and gave a snort of disapproval at her own actions. Now why was she going to act even remotely interested in a sanctimonious prat like that unicorn, he was just as aloof and up his own backside as the rest of them. With that in mind she puffed up her chest and drew herself to her full height.
"I am Yei Umeko, of the Mountain slopes, it's a pleasure to meet you." She replied at last, addressing the wolf who appeared to be suitably more approachable than the recluse in the corner. Even Flame seemed to have lapsed into silence, was this a male pride thing perchance?
.ti'ran.
The bear (Gully, he soon learned) certainly was a character. Ai'er flashed an amused, toothy grin that just happened to show off his pointed incisors, obviously not designed for plant-gnashing. "Thanks for the offer, but uh... I think I'll pass." Berries didn't do much for his particular tastes.
Meanwhile, Ti'ran gave a soft sigh that almost belied his stoic composure. Sure, he wasn't keen on being stared at or fawned over, and he probably would have rathered be somewhere else, but being outright ignored was still a blow to his ego. He wasn't that intolerable, was he?
Sensing his companian's discomfort, the wolf glanced questioningly to him before looking back at Yei. "Pleasure's ours," he assured, carefully choosing his words. This really wasn't going the way he might have hoped; the last thing he wanted to do was make it even worse.
Painfully aware the mare hadn't even addressed him, Ti'ran finally spoke up in earnest. "Yei Umeko is a beautiful name." He glanced curiously to the stallion too, though he thought better of prying for a title.
It was probably too late to salvage his presentability; he feared any attempts he made at this point would have been accounted as hollow, and written off as pompous. He did resolve to try though, if only because his awkwardness botherered A'ier. And like it or not - he cared.
.flame.
Silenced in the face of Gully's overpowering charisma, Flame merely watched the exchange tiredly after his initial outburst. The wolf, A'ier, seemed to operate aong the same lines as Gully. Forward, decisive, and completely certain of themselves.
Drawing a long breath, he met the curious glance of the shadowed unicorn and sighed in a long suffering manner. "Apologies, m'lord, but it seems we have similar impediments." He said, turning his glance to the bear and the wolf.
"Well, as you wish Mister. " Gully retorted, his own toothy grin matching the wolf's. Minus the berry juice of course.
"So, who's your friend? And why does he have a spike on his head? Did an indian stab him? How is he still alive? Can I touch it?" The rapid questions were fired off in quick succession, but the last was directed squarely at Ti'ran immediately after Flame had spoken.
.yei umeko.
Yei began to laugh warmly as the volley of questions assaulted the poor wolf and his otherwise stoic companion, the pair truly were lively creatures and she was bemused to find that they seemed to speak for their stallions as though the pair were quite incapable of socialising in large groups.
Did that mean that if she got a fat bear then they would be really quiet? Oh! If she poked it's tummy would it squeak?
Nevertheless, allowing her laughter to trail away, she was pleased to realise that the smile still lingered on her equine lips and her eyes still maintained that sparkle as she turned her attentions towards both males. She was in a considerably brighter mood purely through the entertainment provided by both familiars.
...It was only after a few minutes in which she recounted what had been said that she realised that the unicorn had actually complimented her. For that reason she could only gaze at him suspiciously for a few moments before coming to the conclusion that despite his otherwise appalling social skills he had been genuine.
"Thank you." She replied softly and gave a slight bow of her head as her head as her left ear flopped in a rather uncanny fashion (she had always used the excuse that it was lazy), "My mother gave to to me." She explained before flashing another smile - well she hadn't met many unicorns and she was just as curious as Gully in relation to that horn.
"Oh! Can I touch it to?" She hazarded finally.
.ti'ran.
Ti'ran would have nodded in quiet agreement, if not for the knowledge that A'ier was watching, waiting for just such an occurance. When none transpired (the unicorn merely exchanged a knowing glance, and shook his head at 'm'lord'), he took it upon himself to set things straight anyway. In the most comedic fashion he could mange, of course. "Impendiment nothing. We're charming additions to your everyday interactions - And Ti'ran, at least, would be lost without me," he huffed jokingly, and gave his tail a mock-agitated swish.
"Just Ti'ran is fine..." ("I call him 'Ran," the wolf interrupted). "As much as I hate to admit it, he is right, I would be lost without him."
As if on cue, Gully's barage of questions broad-sided them both. A'ier found himself blinking as he tried to absorb it all, while Ti'ran stood and waited for the inevitable. This time, he had been glad it was directed at someone else.
"Who is he? - His name is Ti'ran. He's a unicorn," the wolf added hastily, assuming that's probably what he meant anyway. "All unicorns have horns, it's just the way they are... A what? No, nothing stabbed him. Not recently, anyway," he murmered, and turned innocently away when Ti'ran shot him a glare.
A glare that melted quickly under the weight of his blatantly disconcerted expression. Touch it? he confirmed with himself, almost horrified. And Yei, too... They were enjoying this, weren't they? "Uh..." What a positively awkward situation; his eloquence had left him. "It honestly isn't all that interesting." Ti'ran was so desperate to fidget, his wispy tail gave a forced swish. "But, if you really must..." It didn't hurt or anything, and it certainly wouldn't have killed him to let them...
.flame.
Wincing again at the bear and Yei's audacity, Flame shot the unicorn a pitying glance before he even bothered to acknowledge the wolf.
"Charming... indeed." he muttered, shaking his head.
Gully, on the other hand, was delighted. "Really, a unicorn? Flame, didn't you say they were fake? Wow thats cool!" Again the bear's words came out streamlined and lightning fast, and if the fiery stallion was any judge, Gully was reveling in the attention. But that addition in the middle...
"Gully don't you start causing trouble! You know very well that I will not account for what I had never seen." he chided half-heartedly, beyond trying to save face in the present company.
.yei umeko.
Yei gave a delighted and very girlish squeal despite his discomfort. She'd never been allowed to touch a Wind Soquili's wings before so the opportunity to touch something so shiny had put her in a very good mood and regardless of how much he didn't want to be touched she couldn't help but draw nearer to examine the shiny horn - quite a nice weapon she had to say but it was missing something.
"Raccoons, gimme a hand here!" She chirped as a passing raccoon scuttled across a branch above her head and stared at her enquiringly, "Sit on my head." She ordered as she slipped towards Flame and gave him a very wide grin.
"I hope you don't mind." She murmured, providing no excuse as she lifted her head slightly and nipped some of the feathers from his ear. That done she then tossed them up into the paws of the raccoon (who sniffed and then gave a chew at them).
"Ready?" The raccoon gave a nod as she slipped towards Ran once more and unceremoniously pressed her muzzle ever so slightly against his cheek so the raccoon could reach, "Now tie the feathers to it." She explained carefully, "Don't wreck them though, it'll ruin the look." She added, flicking her gaze towards the somewhat excited Gully.
"Do you need a boost as well?" She enquired as the Raccoon stretched out to tie the feathers around the poor unicorn's horn...Personally, the mare thought the added colour would look good against his dark coat.
.ti'ran.
"Yes, charming," A'ier repeated automatically, and somewhat absently. What he was really listening for was that key word, lost somewhere in the middle: fake. "Anything but." The wolf was obviously enjoying Gully's exuberance, even though tormenting Ti'ran probably wasn't beneficial in his aim to make the unicorn more sociable.
"Wait, raccoons?-" He made a move to shuffle backward, but as the process transpired, he found himself rather dumbstruck. She was serious. That was the only thought his mind seemed able to process; he couldn't even coax his legs to move as he watched Yei actually hoist the creature and instruct it with her expectations. And worst of all, he let her. He let her tie some feathers - feathers that weren't even his - to his horn.
A'ier seemed positively delighted, and acted toward Ti'ran's discomfort with deliberate ignorance. "You really should have had someone do that sooner, Ran. That could be a good look for you!" His devilish grin stretched ear to ear.
This was a far cry from his reluctant agreement! "I said you could touch it..." was all he could manage, once he finally found his voice. Now what was he supposed to do? Ti'ran's inner concience was absolutely mortified, and cringed away from the thought of being seen like... Like this. The rest of him was profoundly embarrassed, and he was certain he was flushing beneath his ebony coat, despite his obstinance.
.yei umeko.
"And I did touch it." Yei responded silkily, flashing an almosr devillish smile as she bolstered her hind legs and reared, slipping her head into the trees so that the raccoon could easily find it's place amongst the branches again. It was only when he had sure footing that she lowered herself with a slight 'bump' and flicked her ears, the elft drooping lazily once more.
"A'ier is right, the look suits you." She added softly, flicking her tail against her hindquarters briefly as she admired the feathers upon his horn, it really did brighten up his dark pelt and now he could almost fit in, now if she had brought her own feathers she would have slipped one on to A'ier to make him match too.
Too say the very least, Flame looked positively embarassed and seemed to have been shocked into silence but the hyper-active bear was in what appeared to be a state of delight. In fact, he gazed upwards expectantly at the feathers upon the unicorn's horn and then towards Yei.
"Well, aren't you going to give me a boost?" He enquired as he scooted over to the fiery mares leg and gave it a nudge with his paw until she at last lowered herself to the ground and he climbed onto her back, balancing as best he could despite hi lack of apposable thumbs.
"Red is really your colour." He cooed as Yei stood up once more and kept relatively close to the unicorn so that the bear could reach out without falling over, "Really goes with your eyes!" He added merrily as he extended a paw to prod curiously at the horn.
...Granted, Yei was aware that she was invading his personal space but he would have to get used to it, there were hundreds more females who were MUCH more forward than she was and they may even try to steal a kiss.
Hey, maybe she should try that too.
She couldn't help it as an mischevious glint flashed across her eyes and quickly disappeared.
.ti'ran.
That wasn't what he meant. She knew that wasn't what he meant, and that seemed to distress him all the more (but it surfaced only as a deep frown and uneasy shift in his eyes). "They're red," he commented finally, at a loss of anything else to say. And the tone he managed it with was strongly beligerent, as though it was obvious red wasn't his color, and that it was almost as profane of them to suggest it was as it was for her to attach the feathers in the first place.
"That they are," A'ier chirped in confirmation, his grin never faltering. Gully's intrusion might have been a bit much at that point, but, well... It was all in good fun, right? Ti'ran would get over it sooner or later.
Probably later. He was still silently glowering, sheerly for the loss of his dignity, even as Gully resounded their sentiments in further compliments. It would have been much more flattering under different circumstances.
"Think we could scrounge up some more of those somewhere?" A'ier interjected thoughtfully.
At last, Ti'ran conceded. "If you say so..." Even as he realized he was fighting a battle he couldn't possibly win, it hurt to admit defeat. His pride was sorely damaged, and he didn't have it in himself to laugh at his own circumstance.
And he saw that fleeting expression. She was plotting. The unicorn shifted nervously, and fought to keep reign of his composure, despite how badly he wanted to ask... No, tell them, to stop.
Meanwhile, A'ier waited for events to unfold. He was certain the situation had yet to reach its climax. In fact, he would have been happy to help it along, but Gully and Yei seemed to have a pretty good handle on exploiting Ti'ran's embarrassment already, so he was content to watch.
.flame.
Embarrassed to the point of speechlessness, Flame stood frozen as Yei's plan unraveled and spun out of control. Thoroughly denting his ego (once again) and appearing to mar poor Ti'ran's.
Gully, however, was all but purring in delight and had taken up a new position pressed against Yei's forelegs. The wolf, Ti'ran's familiar, was near them... and Flame had a sudden image of a very troublesome trio.
Following that image was the urge to stalk up to Gully and send him into the river.
!!!
Eye's suddenly alight, he turned to try and catch Ti'ran's eye. It wasn't often the fiery stallion took it upon himself to deliver such childish punishments.. but at the moment he felt that a good submersion in the chilly water sounded appopriate for little Gully. Perhaps a wolf and a certain red mare would join him?
.yei umeko.
Yei was completely unaware of his attempts to gain the attention of the stallion who seemed thoroughly umcomfortable by now. Apparently neither of the males appreciated losing control of a situation to this point but she supposed it would be a very educational experience for them. After all, if they happened to find fairly tolerant females they would find that their entire live's would be orchestrated by the mare - whether or not they were completely conscious of it.
Flicking her tail against her hind quarters once more she gave a soft whicker and simply allowed Gully to indulge his desire of stroking the horn which she may have decorated but hadn't actually touched properly...she wouldn't try now though for fear of dislodging the bear on her back, it would seem inappropriate.
"What does it feel like?" She asked curiously.
.ti'ran.
To say Ti'ran was focused on... other things would have been an understatement. He was as engrossed with their continued persistence as Yei was with the boundaries of their personal comforts, and glancing to Flame or pondering over his openness to manipulation were more or less last on the list of things on his mind.
It wasn't until he realized he was in desperate need of a distraction it occured to him to glance to the other stallion, who had been quiet as a mouse til then (at least he didn't chime in).
Once he locked gazes with him, Yei's questioning 'what does it feel like?' was merely a murmer in the background. That was the look of mischief; he recognized it too. Except this time, it was on his side, and that was a glimmer of hope in his discomfort.
And then it clicked. Once the light of realization was on, he felt rather foolish it hadn't occured to him sooner, but Flame's wordless permission to turn their antics was all the cue he needed. He'd worry about how improper it was later; this meant war.
Without further ado, the unicorn set Flame's plan into motion, and went to dislodge Gully himself with a sudden, forceful press of his muzzle. It wasn't like he had far to go, with the bear so close and all.
.flame.
Releasing a sharp whinny to further distract Gully, Flame darted towards Yei and swung his hindquarters around to push her and his erstwhile familiar into the chilly river.
Caught mid-word, Gully squeaked in surprise when the ebony unicorn pushed him back and he lost his balance. And when he made to grab at something to right himself, a sharp whinny distracted him yet again, causing him to release any hold he had since he thought the whinny came from Yei.
.yei umeko.
She didn't stand a chance, usually she was the one with the pranks and yet she had now been outsmarted by two stallions who she had considered to be too quiet and otherwise aloof to perform such an action and so, even as she fought to regain her balance she lost her footing and began to trip on her own long limbs.
In a flurry of red, orange and black, the tall mare soon found herself stumbling left, losing all hope of retrieving any balance as Gully (the added weight on her back) simply vanished. Had she been observing this she would have made some bemused comment but instead she could only release a squeal and, as she finally tripped over one of the rocks upon the bank of the river a rather odd confession.
"...I can't swim!" She cried, tumbling back-first with flailing legs into the water with an unceremonious crash and a rather huge splash which sent quite a few ripples across the surface.
The truth was, she could actually swim but she wasn't about to show them that and instead, before she had actually impacted she'd taken a very deep breath...choosing to sit on the riverbed and to wait until they started to panick, maybe she would even swim down river a bit and circle round behind them so they would feel even worse when they couldn't find her!
...Ah, so many opportunities to get her revenge and so little time.

.second time lucky.By now the stallion has become reasonably familiar with the forests and has taken to exploring what lies beyond. Choosing to ignore the chaos of the two-legger village he has instead, progressed towards the beaches to admire the scenary. Here, he takes a small moment to relax and to admire what lies above and beyond but much to his misfortune he runs into a rather unexpected visitor - Selene.

Idris blinked at the mention of spirits & his mouth flapped open & shut a few times though words didn't think to fall past his lips most likely for the shock. The stallion was obviously not one to think about spirits & such things as being very real.
"Well,"
He emitted a cough as though biding himself time to try & think of something to say, being apparently astounded.
"Spirits you say? One wasn't aware that they were made of such solid stuff!" Idris managed a nervous chuckle, rather hoping that the spirits weren't anything like mischievous, things that might set his mane out of place or give him a sprained ankle or worse! He glanced at his coat fretfully, though the fret passed quickly.
"Two-legger...hmmm...One isn't possessed of one of their own at present, though if they are quite useful one should look into finding out such a thing." The stallion drifted into a wistful state, wondering just how one obtained a two-legger & how useful they were. But her shred of news stopped such thoughts in their tracks & gave him good reason to start in place, eyes locking onto hers.
"A soquili!?" His eyes narrowed slightly & a disgusted look crossed his face before he began to pace backwards & forwards in front of the mare in a manner far more purposeful than fretful.
"This is preposterous! What knave would slander his own kinsman in such a depraved attack on innocents?" Black tail flicking back forth in a fairly irked manner, he continued to pace until at last, the storm abated & calmed, Idris standing still once more before letting out a deep sigh laced with disappointment.
"For shame Miss Yei....To think that one of our own kind would do such.."
