Casala notices the shift in Bellatrix's mood. While the dark green Pae examines everything quietly, Casala takes the time to do the same. She has often tried to picture what the temple must have looked like, long ago when people still used it to worship the Guardians. That it has fallen into such decline is a part of what inspires her to keep trying to bring back its former glory. A part of the sadness that touches Bellatrix's heart lives in her own. It has taken up root and refuses to leave, urging her onward with her task. She wants this place to be redeemed, and hopefully then those that are tied to it will at last find rest in the afterlife.
Bellatrix's words shake her from her contemplations, and she shakes her head at Bellatrix's apology. "It's fine, though I must admit I try not to put much weight in the outer appearance of things, living or not." She keeps her words light, to try and let Trixie know that she's not schooling her, merely sharing a part of how she views the world. "I've found that if one takes the time to get to know something, or someone, you have a greater chance of discovering the truth about them." Her smile turns into a grin as she admits, "Though I'm glad we have something in common. Pillows are perfect for any occasion, and they are simple to sew. I made a lot of these myself, after Eirnae showed me how and provided the materials."

"But, if you keep people at a distance, they can't hurt you," Bellatrix murmers softly. "And, sometimes, the truth is either not worth the effort, or not pretty." Of course, she thinks, if Casala knew half the things about her that she could come to find out, she might kick her out of the temple.
This brings a small smile to her lips.
Turning her attention back to Casala, she nods. "Well, I cannot say that I have ever sewn any," she admits. "Lenore bought almost everything in my cave for me. I like pretty things, and I lack the talent to make them," she grins. She walks toward the pillows, and gives an expirimental poke at one of the black ones. "Soft," she comments. "You did a good job," she adds, returning her attention back to Casala.
Bellatrix's ear twitches when she feels a familiar something. Looking at Casey, he hisses to her. Smiling, she crosses her arms over her chest. When Snakey comes into view, she smirks down at him. "You decided to come crawling back, eh?" she hisses, bending down to pick him up and drape him over her shoulders again. "Did the female give you the boot?"
Snakey ignores her, and she snickers. "He got dumped," she explains, and earns a slight tail thwaping from Snakey as a result. It only makes her snicker more.
"How long do you think it will take to restore the rest of the temple? I mean, you would have to replace some things, I am sure. It doesn't seem that all of the pieces are here. . . ." She's talk to Lenore about perhaps helping with that. Maybe they could find some stones that could match the ones already here. . . .

"The truth is rarely pretty," Casala replies over her shoulder while headed for one of the larger piles of pillows. She bends and starts to arrange them into a more concentrated area, getting them ready for when she will retire for the evening. She continues at this while Snakey slithers back to Bellatrix and is draped about the green Pae's shoulders, but she smiles at Bellatrix's teasing of the boa as well as the thwapping sound of his tail smacking into Trixie's shoulder. "Shina told me that ladies often love gifts," she comments, gesturing off into the open area of the temple. "There are some very plump mice off to that side, and he's welcome to them."
She finishes with her ministrations and stretches out her wings as she stands up. After a bit of consideration, she moves over to another pile and starts fixing up that. After all, she doesn't know if Trixie will be staying the night or not. "Yes, quite a few things need replacing. There isn't enough marble to go around, and the hunt for the missing pieces of the statues and the floor seems to be neverending." She points in the direction of a dark jade statue of a sinuous serpent winding up from its pedestal. "That is one of the few I've found that was mostly intact. I've repaired what I can of the tail tip that was broken off. You could call it my first 'finished work', really."
Veron, who has been silently following Casala around this whole time, finally flits over to land on the shrine's orb. It looks almost like a butterfly that's alighted upon a bloom in the spring, complete with the occasional wing flutter.

"No, it isn't," she mutters, and then laughs.
"Alright, I will let you down, quit your squirming," Bellatrix tells Snakey. "You know, there are OTHER snakes in this place."
"Theeeeeere aaaaaare ooooooootheeeeeer Paaaaaaaaaeee'iiiiiiiiil, aaasssssssssssssss weeeeeeeell," is Snakey's retort as he follows the scent of the mice.
"Yeah, yeah," Bellatrix calls after him. "For that, I hope you find only naked, baby mice!"
She could swear that Snakey is snickering.
Shaking her head, she turns and watches Casala lie down pillows. Two piles. Hmmmm, maybe one of her spirits sleeps on them? She doesn't even consider the possibility that one pile might be for her. After all, she has never had an invitation extended to her to stay the night. . . .
"I could ask Lenore's help on the marble," Bellatrix offers, after she listens to what she has to say. "I am sure between her and Eirnae, they could figure out something. . . ."
She trails off when she sees one of the most beautiful things in the world. She practically runs over to the snake, her eyes wide. Running her hands, as gentle as a lover's caress, over the jade of the serpent, she has a smile on her face, and that same, odd maternal look in her eyes that does an odd battle with the rest of her features. "She's beautiful," she says, studying the repaired tail. It has been so lovingly restored that you can barely see the fine cracks in it.
Casey, whom has followed her over to the statue, seems to look on it, thoughtfully. He comments on how life-like it is, and she can only nod in response.

Casala was still in the middle of arranging pillows, nodding at polite intervals to show Bellatrix that she is still listening, so she doesn't notice the shift in Bellatrix's interest till she hears the husky whisper announcing the beauty of the statue. She turns to look over to where Bellatrix and Casey are admiring the jade statue and smiles thoughtfully. She should of known that this Pae would appreciate this piece as much as she does. Pushing herself up with her arms, she folds her wings behind her as she quietly advances on the entranced pair, finding it easy to lose herself in the same sense of awe as she joins them in looking at the intricately carved work of art.
"I believe it was created to honor the Serpent Clan itself, though I do not know the name of the artist," she whispers after a few minutes have passed. "It is as if it merely sleeps, waiting for the right person to come along and free it so it may dance on air once more."
She frees herself from the spell that the statue has woven, and reaches out to hover a hand over Bellatrix's shoulder. Of the two, only she knows that such is enough for their auras to mingle. "The hour grows late, and I must rest. Tomorrow sounds like it will be a rather full day. You are welcome to stay here. I have prepared a bed for you, and you are welcome to test its comfort."

Bellatrix listens to the whispered words, nodding her agreement.
However, she finds herself jumping just a little when Casala's voice returns to normal. She turns to look at the two piles of pillows, and frowns a little.
Hmmm. . . . to stay, or not. . . . She knows she has wandered far from her cave. . . . And, she did want to go looking for snakes tomorrow again. And, what better way to do that than to start from a new location.
"Thank you," she starts. "I think I might take you up on your offer, Casala."
She starts to walk toward the 'bed,' hissing to Casey to please make sure Snakey doesn't get into any trouble while he is away from her. She watches him slither through the air in the direction that Snakey slithered off in, before kneeling beside the pillows.
She pokes them again, and nods her approval. "Just like home," she chuckles. She then sits down on them. As is her habit, she is not going to fall asleep until the person she happens to be sleeping with is asleep first. And, she will wait for her hostess to lie down and grow comfortable first.

Nodding, Casala follows after Bellatrix, settling down on her own pile of cushiony silk right after Bellatrix does hers. "Sounds like your home will be a nice place to visit," she says in response to Bellatrix's appraisal of her makeshift bed.
She shifts to lay down on her side so she's facing Trixie, her wings stretching out and finally laying semi-flat against the bumpy surface of the pillows behind her. Veron buzzes once, then darts up from the orb it was perched on to fly lazily over and land in Casala's hair. Snuggling in like a child in its favorite blanket, the wings droop and the blue light dulls to a soft throb.
"Thank you for your company today," Casala says sleepily, covering up a yawn with a hand, "It was nice to share the events that happened with someone that everyone else can see." Her eyelids seem to be getting heavier and heavier. She's stayed up much later than she's used to, and her body is telling her that she has little choice in whether she's going to fall asleep or not.

Bellatrix watches as Casala settles into her bed, and lies down to do the same, facing her as well. She folds one of her leathery wings over her shoulder, and her tail moves to settle on her waist.
"You can come over at any time," she says, watching as her eyes start to droop, and finally close. "I had fun today," she comments, with a sigh.
She stays up long enough to be sure that Casala is sleeping, before she allows herself to finally drift off after her.
