RP Response: Nothing ever happens Tuesday. If something important was going to happen, then he thought it would happen Friday night, like all exciting things do. Of course, it would be a dark and stormy evening too with lighting bolts lighting up the moonless sky and the sound of thunderclaps filling the air.
He was wrong. Not only was it Tuesday, it was a bright sunny day when he finally figured it out. He overheard his mother and uncle talking about...stuff. He thought his mother was a widow, but really, his uncle was... He didn't even want to think about it!
He loved his mother. She was the one he could lean on and depend on. When he got roughed up horse-playing with other colts, she made everything feel better. He trusted her and he thought she trusted him, so why didn't she tell him?
Of course, he liked his "uncle" too. ...but this changed everything, now, didn't it?
What was he supposed to do? Should he tell his siblings? Should he wait for them to tell them?
For now, he decided to keep this a secret. It felt like a wolf inside his stomach, biting off chunks of him and trying to crawl out of his mouth. Still, he wasn't going to tell anyone. Not yet.

Male Personality: Meridian is a conflicted individual. He has a desire to wander the Kawani lands and find adventure, but feels a strong obligation to stay with his family. In his older (teen?) years, this will make him quiet and slightly withdrawn. His fighting emotions with make him distant to his family; this will make his inner conflict worse by giving him a stronger desire to leave and yet making him feel that he needs to stay and make things right. He naturally pushes his problems away rather than dealing with them. Meridian prefers to keep complex things like emotions simple. After the discovery that Uncle Adrian is his father, Meridian will emotionally break, unable to deal with the betrayal and confusion, emotions that are too strong for him to deal with. He will try to stay with his family, but ultimately will run away from his family and his problems. RP will determine whether he leaves for good or if he decides to go back to his family and finally deal with his conflicts.
Female Personality: Shaunna is a crazy little gal. As a foal she is full of energy and often get involved in crazy shenanigans to expend all her extra energy. She is easily bored by talks and "quiet time." Shaunna does not understand social boundaries, and when she does she simply rejects them. As she grows up, Shaunna will become an adrenaline junky. She will do crazy stunts and get herself involved in dangerous situations just to feel that rush. Her warmly and cuddly mother and her emotionally confusing "uncle" will make her feel smothered. Eventually she will leave to pursue her adventures and stunts which will inevitably cause her to get hurt. She will calm down (but not by much), and will return to visit her family as often as she can.
Prompt Number: 2! From Meridian's point of view. (For the purpose of this response, I will assume the other basket is female.)
RP Response: Meridian was alone. He needed to be alone. He needed to think. Everything had happened so fast, and he just didn't know what to do anymore.
He was growing out of his foal naivete, and now had to confront strange emotions that came with maturity. Meridian was worried, anxious, scared, and confused. Not the kind of confused he felt when he saw his first butterfly, or when his mother had tried to explain how the grass grew. No, this was a darker confusion, a kind that he feared there could be no answer to.
His uncle was his father. He had to be. The markings, the colours, even the little things that Meridian did reflected "Uncle" Adrian in every way. There was no other explanation. Meridian stamped at the ground with frustration. He knew that Adrian was his father. He had come to accept that. But what the young teen didn't know was why. Why were his parents hiding it?
The colt shook out his mane, trying to relieve the stress that was beginning to build up. Was it some sort of family secret? Had Mom and Adrian done something bad, and were now trying to cover it up? Or worse, did Adrian simply not love his children enough to be their father? Tears were beginning to well up in his eyes. Meridian wasn't used to these sorts of emotions. He felt sad, more so than he had ever been before. He was scared that he didn't know the answers to all the questions that he had. He felt...betrayed.
He had to ask. He had to know. Mind nearly made up, Meridian took a deep breath and began forming the question in his mind. He would march right up to "Uncle" Adrian and demand...demand....What if he left? What if Adrian really didn't love him? If Meridian admitted to knowing that Adrian was his father, then maybe he would leave. His mom would be sad. And his sister...they would both hate him. He would ruin their entire family.
Meridian was sniffling now, desperate to keep himself from sobbing. He wanted to leave. He wanted to run and find a place where everything could just be simple. But that, too, might tear his family apart. There was nothing he could. Things were alright in his family, the way they were right now. Meridian wouldn't do anything to screw it up. No, he would make sure that the secret was never revealed. It was the only option he had.

(Ichigo is a Japanese name and it’s fun because depending on how it’s written with kanji, it can mean any number of things. Meanings include “strawberry” (hey, the baskets are pink, right?), “first child” (this is Sakura’s first time as a mother, no?), “one five,” “one word” and “to protect one thing.” )
Female Name: Aiko Dragonshadow
(Aiko is also Japanese. “Ai” means “love” or “affection” and “ko” means “child.” So essentially, “Loving Child” …or “Lovechild” XD )
Explanation: The foal originally just has a Japanese first name, taking after their mother. After they grow up and find out that "Uncle" Adrian is really their father and get over the initial shock, they take his surname to honor him as well. ^^

Male Personality:
With no really stable father figure in his life, Ichigo will grow up as quite the mama’s boy. He is naturally a very sweet and gentle colt. At first he is very shy, but by following the lead of his social butterfly of a mother, she will help him open up and really blossom. When he is very young, he will be rather intimidated by “Uncle” Adrian, but as he gets older, he will really start to look up to him and see him as part of the family. When he reaches his adolescent years, a little bit of teen rebellion will kick in. Luckily, it’s not a very destructive rebellion; it’s more a rebellion against his own personality. It’s this combination of factors that builds up to Ichigo’s set personality.
Ichigo is like that cool older brother that your best friend always has. He’s cool and aloof and even a little scary to someone who doesn’t really know him. Aiko is fearless and always has been. She is one of those personalities that is always on the move, always up to something. She just never entertains the possibility that she could fail, which could lead to comedic and sometimes dire results. She’s really just a big, happy goofball.

Note: I have a ferret familiar here by the name of Taavi who is currently unattached to a Soq. His personality doesn’t really fit with my other Soq, so if I won the basket, I’d like to attach him to the foal. As you’ll see, Taavi is a tricky little guy. He’s secretive, mischievous and loves to steal things (so watch your valuables!), but he has a heart of gold. He’s almost like a playful little Robin Hood.

The young filly stood with both front hooves resting exactly on the safe side of the invisible boundary. Her small muscles were taut with anticipation and more than a little fear. Excitement was written in every line of her tiny body. She raised her delicate nose to taste the foreign air; it was brimming with new smells. Sweet grass. Warm woods. Crystalline streams. Musky animals. Fresh breezes.
Out there was a world that she wanted to experience for herself.
There was one problem. Her mother had forbidden her from leaving the familiar confines of the forest that was their home. Luckily, earlier that day, Akio’s brother Ichigo had landed himself in a thorn patch and their mother was busy caring for the distraught little colt. That left Akio unsupervised.
A voice from above her head startled the filly from her reverie, “You know you’re not supposed to leave the forest. Not until you’re older.”
Aiko looked skyward into the sturdy oak branches above her head and leveled a steady, reproving gaze on her familiar, “I know.” The young ferret with fur the color of burnished gold sat back on his tail and fixed her with a cocky little grin. Used to the little furball’s antics, the filly ignored him and looked over her shoulder; back to home, safety… and shook her head. “It will only be for a little bit. They’ll never know I was gone.”
Taavi grinned brightly, showing his sharp little teeth, “I knew you’d say that!” He skittered down the tree trunk and bounded over to his best friend, straddling the imaginary line as though he was playing a game. The ferret scampered up her foreleg and Aiko could feel his little paws twisting in her mane as he settled down. When she looked back at him with one eyebrow cocked, he replied with, “You didn’t think I’d just stay behind, did you?” He was rewarded with a bright, grateful smile from the little mare.
No more stalling.
No hesitation.
No fear.
Aiko took a deep breath and stepped forward. I had a hugely long entry in the last RP contest I was in, so I tried to tone it down this time... XD Again, thank you both for this opportunity. ^__^ ♥ And good luck everyone!

RP Response: A foal’s mind is an interesting thing. The energetic dark and light being had spent the day bounding about every which-way with thoughts that did the same. What is seen and heard and taught influenced and prompted this young mind. Mom is always with me, the foal thought with a warm feeling of security that triggered wonder regarding another recurring feeling. Why did some foals have both a mom and dad? How come some foals have only a mom or only a dad? This young foal’s thoughts wondered along these lines. These thoughts were also accompanied by tangents though. Do the trees have moms and dads? How come trees are much taller than mom and other moms and dads? After all, it felt so worthwhile to the young foal to weave and frolic between the forest trees while looking up and around for Tinsel and other beings like Tinsel and forget trains of thought to remember and resume wondering about those thoughts at a later time.
Such a later time came upon the young foal at bedtime, while tuckered out from a day of play and discovery. The foal ended up learning more about a concept, a tree called family tree, that not only are there moms and dads and siblings and uncles but there are also cousins and grandpas and grandmas. Mom and Uncle have the same Mom and Dad? Does Mom and Uncle have the same grandma and grandpa? Mom and Uncle are brother and sister? Mom and Uncle are cousins? I can look like Mom and Uncle because moms and children can look like uncles, brothers, sisters, grandmas, grandpas, and cousins? I wanna know. Uncle is Mom‘s brother? Cousin? I wanna ask but I‘m sleepy. The young foal’s eyes closed to sleep after tired blinks and yawns, initially having tried to prove that sleepiness was not one of the feelings currently felt despite soon being too worn out to stand back up and speak again after protesting against having to get to bed. The curious young foal decided to ask the questions in mind after waking up instead.

He has a strong adventurous instinct, but will always return home from his adventures. He believes that family is the most important thing in life and will never completely turn him back on them. If his family is ever in trouble he will run to them to help. He tends to be a little superstitious, as he found that most of the time the signs do mean something...
Female Personality: Phena has taken much of her mothers personality. She is a conversationalist who loves encouraging others to come out of their shell. RP Response: Andries paused as he looked at himself in the placid waters of the lake. Though it was dark out and his sister and mother were asleep, he couldn't seem to sleep. There was something that had been nagging at the back of his mind. As he bent down to take a sip from the star studded waters there was a moment that he saw his uncle Adrian in the reflection instead of himself. The resemblance between the him and Adrian was too close to be a coincidence. His sister even resembled Adrian a little as well. Adrian is also around too frequently to be a friend. Andries turned away from the water and headed slowly back to where his mother and sister were tonight. He glanced back towards the lake.
"That was an omen, it must have been. The coincidences were too great to be just chance. It makes sense," he whispered to himself as he reentered the woods on his way to the clearing that they had been staying at. "Adrian is my... our father. There is no point in confronting my mother either, Adrian is already like a father figure to me," he whispered again. Andries nodded his head, causing his mane to flutter. 'I will keep this to myself, for it will hurt no one. Maybe one day she will tell us,' he thought as he walked into the clearing and to his sleeping family. With one glance up towards the lightening night sky he went to sleep next to his sister.
