dragon_1212xp For anyone who doesn't know, Chernobyl was bad. The only way you can "visit" it is with google maps. (I've done it before, it's eerily abandoned.) I know the Japanese government keeps evacuating the area around the power plant, last I checked the situation was going from bad to worse. Apparently the control room is radioactive now.
After a while, they're just gonna have to give up on it and leave. No point in nursing it if it's just going to cost more lives, sad to say. sad

For anyone interested in the effects of the explosion in Chernobyl, there are a few paragraphs, a map, and a video here.
http://www.mapsorama.com/map-of-chernobyl-nuclear-reactor-disaster/
Additionally, many news sources are saying Fukushima won't become another Chernobyl. It could be similar to Three-Mile Island, but there's also a chance for total (or nearly) recovery, due to their many safety measures and their ability to act and think quickly.
Map of Fukushima, where the Daiichi reactor is located. Just click on the map and it will take you to satellite view, and mark the location of the nuclear reactor with a photo.

We'll just have to see about that... Quote: At 0630 GMT, there was an explosion was at the plant.[26] At 0800 GMT, Fox News Channel reported the explosion and a plume of "white smoke" rising above the plant.[27] At 0803 GMT BBC News reported that Japan's NHK TV reported the explosion as "near" the plant, and that four workers were injured.[28] Reuters is also reporting that NHK claims the explosion blew the entire outer structure off of the containment building of Unit 1.[29] The Guardian is reporting that NHK is advising residents of the Fukushima area "to stay inside, close doors and windows and turn off air conditioning. They have also been advised to cover their mouths with masks, towels or handkerchiefs" as well as not to drink tap water.[30] Other news agencies have reported information on a definite explosion at the plant.[31][32] Increase of radiation levels have been confirmed following the explosion.[33] The hourly radiation leaking from the plant is equal to the amount permitted in one year.[34] This is going from bad, to worse, to catastrophic. gonk

Yeah, and that plant too is getting a build up of hydrogen that is going to result in the same explosion at Fukushima reactor 1. Right now, they are figuring out what to do about the hydrogen build up. http://www3.nhk.or.jp/daily/english/13_36.html
