++ [ Entry 43 - shop roleplay ] ++Alex Mustang Gokiloud had set up in the shop a small target for him to pratice shooting his bow and arrow. He wanted so hard to become the best archer out there. He would try and try and try but get the same result. Why couldn't I shoot it, the thought to himself. Then looked around to see if anyone was that could help him with it. Xenostatica Hikari was excited to have been let out of lessons early. She skipped and hummed as she head out to adventure with others.
I hope that I can find others to play with me. kaze1981 Arian pushed open the shop door, the book Kaze had given him some time back tucked under one arm and a small 2-section box containing some salad in one section and some hastily crammed in cookies in the other.
The shop bell tinkled and the unicorn boy hunched his wings slightly so he could get through the door - something that had taken a while to master, but which he had gotten better at. Alex Mustang Gokiloud turned his head and saw the little red lanturn skipping and humming. He then put his bow on his back. "Hello Hikari. How are you today?" Xenostatica "Gokiloud, hello! I'm doing great, how are you?!" Hikari changed from skipping to running. "What are you up to as well?" Alex Mustang "I am doing okay," he said then he sighed, "I am trying to learn to be the best archer in the world. If I can do that I will be the best and won't have to worry about my arrows falling before i can shoot them." kaze1981 Emerald green eyes watched the two lanturn spirits in the shop thoughtfully, although neither seemed to have seen him. The red lanturn was familiar - Arian remembered her as Hikari, probably because she had bowed like Toshi, although the unicorn boy remembered that they had done it for different reasons.
The other lanturn was one Arian didn't recognise, although he sort of felt like he should be sort of familiar in a not-familiar way. He had a cool looking bow though, even if the unicorn boy wondered to himself if it was real.
Caught up in his ponderings Arian had yet to announce his presence. Xenostatica Hikari looked curious at Gokiloud, "Be the best that takes a lot of practice. So how are you praticing?" She looked at the bow in his hand and giggled and the arrows on his back. Alex Mustang "Yeah I know," he said. Then his ears twitched about. "Whats so funny?" He asked with somewhat a twisted face. Xenostatica "I don't mean it as something bad...it's just that your bow matches your arrows and they look so cute," Hikari smiled, "It's really cool to see a bow though up close, like Robin Hood..." SHe twisted around and walked around Gokiloud, "How do you hold it that could help and the way you pull the line and and..." Hikari's eyes widen, "My apologize...I sspeak too freely at time." kaze1981 Hikari seemed to be kind of busy talking to the other lanturn and so Arian didn't bother to interrupt, something which was kind of not like him - although it was more because the other lanturn was talking about his bow than anything else... Something like being the bestest archer.
The only archer Arian knew of had been one called Robin Hood - he'd read the story in one of the books Kaze had bought for him to read once and Robin Hood had seemed really cool.
The unicorn boy wondered if this lanturn spirit.. Hikari had called him Gokiloud - was trying to be like Robin Hood. Alex Mustang Gokiloud smiled. "I want to be as great as him. When I read about him that was what I admire about him. I want to be the next robin hood," said Gokiloud. Then he twitched his ears and turned. "Why hello there," said Gokiloud and then waved. "Why don't you come over and hang out with us." Xenostatica "How exciting..." she leaned past to see Arian. The unicorn she had met before but couldn't place where, "Arian, hello! Why don't you join us?" She grinned big and laughed softly. kaze1981 Arian gave both Hikari and Gokiloud a slightly embarassed smile and moved in their direction, pausing to set the small box briefly on one of the tables as he passed it - he hadn't meant to be caught out listening... But Gokiloud's bow and arrows were really interesting looking and he hadn't seen a bow outside of his Robin Hood book before.
"Hi Hikari, hi um Goki-loud" he stumbled slightly over the second lanturn spirit's name. "Sorry for not saying hi sooner _ I was kind of looking at Gokiloud's bow" he said slightly awkwardly before adding. "I've not seen a real bow before - the only bow I've seen is the one I've seen in the pictures of a book Mummy got me about Robin Hood." RP status: in progress...

++ [ Entry 44 - shop roleplay ] ++kaze1981 The shop was quiet except for the scritch of pencil on paper, a pale hand curled round said pencil - it's owner a jade-haired unicorn boy who was oddly silent as he drew some of the pretty lanturns hanging up up in the shop.
Arian had come to the shop to think and to draw - something that had been getting better although Arian still didn't think his drawings were pretty enough - they looked better than they did before and Mummy had stuck one up on the wall of his room - had even found a frame or something to do it, though she had been awfully quiet lately, had been acting funny - that and he'd even heard her arguing with Uncle Kori when she thought he wasn't listening - something over a thing that Uncle Kori had wanted her to do... Or maybe still wanted her to do although the unicorn boy couldn't really be sure. Xenostatica Hikari was happily dancing as she came down to the shop. She was up lifted at the idea of the spring time. She was happy to have been able to see the birds coming out and singing as she made her way down the asphalt. She came to the familiar door and walked in. kaze1981 Arian looked up at the sound of the shop bell ringing and gave a small smile to the familiar red spirit "Hi Hikari" he said, resting his book on his lap an putting the pencil down. He frowned at the lanterns he'd been trying to draw - the pictures still not looking pretty enough to his liking.

kaze1981 ++ [ Entry 31 - self roleplay ] ++"A word Kaze" Kori caught the half sprite's arm as she was about to follow Arian out the door, the gesture making her start in surprise."Um sure," For a moment Kaze turned her attention to the unicorn spirit. "Are you ok with going on ahead Arian? I'll catch up to you in a...""Ok Mummy.""The brat will be fine" Kori's cool response was spoken at the same time as Arian's cheerful one."He does have a name you know." Kaze fixed the fallen angel with a slight glare. "And it's not brat." The half sprite was feeling unusually out of sorts for some reason, part of the reason she had suggested a trip to the park with Arian - something that the unicorn boy had agreed to with glee.Kori shrugged, the fallen angel's attitude irritating the half sprite even more. "He's a brat - just because he's also one of your strays it doesn't make him not a brat. Besides he talks to much and asks too many questions."Kaze glared "He's a child Kori, only..." Kaze frowned realising that she didn't know how old Arian was. "He a young child - children tend to ask questions - it's part of being a child... And he's not a stray or a brat or a nuisance - he has a name.""Whatever" Kori's voice was flat. Cold silver eyes "You should be careful that you do not try to make him a substitute for the boy you lost. For all that they have the same name he is not him.""I know that! You think I don't know that they are not the same.." Kaze's voice dropped to a whisper on the last.Kori's voice was cruel "And yet you call him son, treat him as if he's your own. You fool yourself into thinking he is your Arian come again because of a name and a unicorn horn... And...""You've made your point" Kaze's voice was whisper quiet."Have I?" Kori's voice was cold, the coldness matching his chill silver eyes. "Do you really think that" the fallen angel's stare burned into the sprite, bitterness flickering over them. "Is that why...""I said you've made your point!" A breeze had sprung up at Kaze's words, the pots in the kitchen rattling from the force of the half sprite's agitation, while somewhere inside the flat, a door - presumably the one to the bathroom - slammed."You should calm yourself" Kori didn't even seem phased by the display. "Unless you've changed your mind and want to be married off and bonded after all." He let go of Kaze's arm "And you should think on what I said. After all if you aren't looking for a substitute why did you adopt him in the first place?"
The fallen angel turned and walked past the silent sprite, a moment later and Kaze could hear the snick of his door though she remained standing where he left her.~ o ~ o ~ o ~ Emerald eyes stared wide-eyed from the doorway - their owner - a certain jade-haired unicorn spirit staring uncertainly at the silent sprite.
Arian had found himself turning back about 5 minutes from the flat after remembering that he'd forgotten his book that he used to draw things into and then when he'd got back he'd heard Uncle Kori and Mummy arguing - or rather Uncle Kori being mean as usual - although some of what the lavender-haired angel had said seemed confusing.
What does he mean by another Arian for starters - I'm just me - I've always been me.
Another thing that confused him was the breeze - it wasn't windy at all today and all the windows in the flat were shut - at least he thought they were.
And yet it was breezy enough to rattle to pots and Uncle Kori made it like it was Mummy's fault that it happened - even though I don't think Mummy does magic since I've never seen her do any!
Arian frowned wishing that Aikori was still there so he could tell him about it and ask him what he thought about it all, but it had been a week since the green lanturn spirit and his Dad - Enikil had come over.
Maybe however he could ring him and ask. Especially since all of this seemed so mysterious and Arian liked mysteries...
Well I like solving them anyway!

kaze1981 Still 13 roses - how hard could they be to find...
Later on that evening the tired half sprite would have cause to regret those thoughts.
It was even as if the first three roses were hard to find, the first being tucked causually in the door, another on a table and the third held by the shopkeeper whom Kaze had seen a couple of times but not really talked to.
It was the other nine that had been the problem, the sun setting by the time a half frustrated, half bemused and all over exhausted sprite had finally found nine other roses bringing the total to twelve.
And then she had found out about the thirteenth rose...
A special rose, one which would give an even more special prize, although she was told that with the twelve she already had that a prize was guaranteed.
Kaze had thought about leaving it at twelve, after all she was tired and it was late and who knew what was happening back at Kori's flat - that was if Arian was even back yet.
That is until she found out the prize.
Wings...
Although unsure as to what sort of wings they would be - something about them being something that would be suited to whichever lanturn spirit absorbed the special lanturn - the fact that they were wings at all was something Kaze could not resist trying her hand for, especially as the half sprite was not blind to Arian's interest with wings - especially feathered ones. She thought he had a feather collection somewhere, although she hadn't been able to stumble upon wherever it was that Arian had hidden it.
It was that though that had Kaze stumbling one last time through the shop, more and more frustrated until at last when she had been about to give up and take the prize for the twelve roses, a glimmer of gold had assaulted her senses... ~ o ~ o ~ o ~ It was a very tired, but happy Kaze who had stumbled into Kori's flat that evening, a rose lanturn half hidden behind her back as she sneaked in, meaning to hide it before Arian could find it and call her on it. It would be her surprise - something she though Arian would enjoy and appreciate - something that..."Where have you been?" Kori's flat voice drifted from the sofa from where the fallen angel was sitting, sketchpad in hand . "And what's that you're hiding?""I..." Kaze looked startled. "That is.."Kori interrupted her her before she could say anything more. "On second thoughts I don't want to know." He continued before Kaze could reply to that. "The brat's in his room, I presume he's sleeping since he's been unusually quiet."
A smirk drifted across Kori's lips, "Although it could be because I offered to give his precious feather collection to Mitsu..."
He ignored Kaze's irritated look "And yes he's eaten - I gave the brat the salad you made earlier and I think he's the cause of the missing bananas and the newfound mess in the kitchen which you're cleaning up by the way. That is unless you make him do it which you probably won't."
The fallen angel got up silver eyes pinning her with a stare "And you owe me an answer to my earlier question. The purple haired idiot is good in situations like these, but promise or not you are the better choice and you know it."
He slipped the sketch under his arm and headed towards his room "That brat of yours is a big boy. He can do without you for a week or so."Kaze watched Kori go silently, the rose-coloured lanturn briefly forgotten as she remembered the earlier argument she had had with Kori and the fallen angel's request - the one she had still not told Arian about - the one which if she did what the fallen angel wanted would come into conflict with her own promise to the jade-haired unicorn spirit.
"What to do..."
What to do indeed.

kaze1981 ++ [ Entry 33 - self roleplay ] ++"Where did I come from?"Kaze blinked startled at the question, the half sprite almost dropping the pencil she'd been using to scribble notes into her book. "Didn't you say you same from your lanturn." The half sprite gestured to the jade lanturn that as usual was lying not far from where the unicorn spirit had decided to sit curled up on the floor."I know that" Arian shot her an exasperated look. "I was just wondering about before that."Kaze gave Arian a curious look and paused in her scribbling. "Well that's rather.. Sudden - why wonder today of all days?" She set the pencil down carefully."I've kinda been wondering for a while" Arian half bit his lip hesitantly. "I remember being in the lanturn, remember how bored I was in there and I remember hearing you singing sometimes and the sound of your voice, but I don't remember anything before that or why I was there." He paused for breath "I just was."Kaze tried to decipher that torrent of comments, ruefully wondering how the unicorn boy managed on barely pausing for breath in between comments, but as she deciphered what he'd been saying a thoughtful frown crept on her face. "Actually you know I don't know, I never thought to ask Mr Bumby about it.""Mr Bumby?" Emerald green eyes looked inquisitively at her."Mr Bumby is the one I bought your lanturn from" Kaze explained. "If you like maybe you could ask him?"Her comment garnered a shrug from Arian "Sure! Maybe next time we go to the shop. Can I make cookies this afternoon?" Emerald green eyes gave her a hopeful look "I want to make them by myself."The sudden subject change made Kaze blink for the second time that day "Only if I'm there to watch you and no going near the oven."The half sprite remembered the last time Arian had tried to make cookies - unsupervised. The solid black cookies - a product of the curious unicorn spirit combining several colours of food colouring to see what they would do - somehoe managing to stick to bits of the oven creating the most awful mess.Arian pouted slightly "Ok, can I use food colouring in them? I want to try mixing a few..."Kaze shuddered slightly, memories of the last time Arian had tried using food colouring still topmost in the half sprite's mind "No!""But..""No!""Ok then.. Can I use sprinkles?"Kaze thought on it - but couldn't see in headaches involved in letting Arian use some of the sugar sprinkles she had on hand "Ok then."Arian grinned - the grin lighting up his eyes and making the emerald depths sparkle.
#4:- From entry number 30 (Kaze and Enikil PRP)
((Added 27 March 2006))
Enikil "Enikil said he used to be just a Vegetarian, but now he has to eat meat and stuff now," Aikori said softly, looking up at Kaze with a happy smile on his face. Green eyes looked over at Enikil and Arian, who were still talking together. He was really glad the werebunny was in good health today, he'd been sick a few days before.
"Okay!" Aikori grinned, sitting himself down beside him, "Ah, I'd love to see you're tree! Things that glow are soooo cool! "Enikil looked over at the table where Kaze and Aikori were and smiled lightly, he rubbed the back of his neck and walked closer. He blinked his green eyes at what the half sprite said and nodded. "Maybe later I'll look at your tree Arian, your mom and I have boring adult stuff to talk about" He said softly, patting his head lightly. " I don't mind, " He said, seeing it was going to be something very serious.
kaze1981 Arian's tail swished excitedly as Aikori sat next to him, the unicorn boy half wanting lunch to be over so that he could show Aikori his tree already and was half tempted to just bolt down his salad and grab a few cookies before dragging off Aikori so they could look at the tree. Although then that wouldn't be fair on Aikori since he might actually want to eat at the table.
He still managed to make his way through about half his salad in record time before Kaze noticed.Kaze had given Enikil a relieved smile, that had turned quickly rueful at his response "I'm truely sorry to bother you with it, but it will explain why I was away for so long after things." She didn't elaborate, deciding that she'd tell him once Arian and Aikori were in Arian's room, looking at the unicorn boy in question she noticed that he'd managed to down half his salad and his tail was swishing in a way that suggested he could barely contain his excitement "Yes the two of you can go eat in your room if you promise not to make a mess" she said answering Arian's unasked question. "But only if Enikil and Aikori are ok with that and only then if you get the spare blanket from your wardrobe."Arian blinked at Kaze wondering how it was Mummy always managed to work out what he was going to say before he said anything.. Well most times she did anyway. Maybe it was a Mummy thing. He half asked her about it then and there, but then changed his mind - he could always ask later.
Instead he looked at Aikori "Want to eat in my room on the spare blanket? My tree's bright enough to act like a light and it could be like a picnic or something." He hoped Aikori wanted too - then his fellow lanturn spirit could see his tree faster.
Enikil "Oh, Enikil please can I eat in Arians room?" Aikori asked, turning his green eyes towards him. He gave him his never failing kicked puppy look, it almost never failed. "I promise I wont get anything on my pants or shirt or on the blanket! I swear!"Enikil wa sin mid bite of a sandwich when the other pleaded with him. Keeping the tip of th e sandwich in his mouth, he arched an eyebrow at him. Taking a bite, he quickly munched it back before speaking. "Alright, but you have to help Arian clean up and set everything up okay?" He said softly, chuckling when the little lanturn cheered. "Yay!, lets go Arian!" He looked brightly at him, eager to go.
kaze1981 "All right!" Arian said with a grin as Enikil gave permission, the unicorn boy half bouncing out of his seat before excitedly turning to grab the chair he'd been sitting on. "The blanket's on the top shelf of my wardrobe" he told Aikori as he half-dragged and half awkwardly carried the chair over to the door leading to his room.Kaze watched Arian drag the chair with a sigh, a rueful smile on her face. "Careful with that chair Arian, slow down!" She wasn't sure if Arian was listening considering that Arian was talking to Aikori about his tree. "He's energetic" she told Enikil. "And very, very curious. You know he somehow got his hands on a screw driver last week and dismantled two of the clocks."
The half sprite figured it'd be best for the pair to be safely in Arian's room before she told Enikil about what had been going on, although...
A thought occured to her.
"Enikil do you know anything about setting wards" she asked her friend quietly so her voice didn't drift far past the table.
Enikil "Thanks Enikil!" Aikori beamed, hopping off his chair to help Arian with the big chair. He picke dup the other end and helped him drag it over to the wardrobe. He was all smiles, having a great deal of fun with the other. He couldn't wait to see the glowing tree!Enikil chuckled softly, watching the two boys hurry off to have fun. It was nice to see the little green haired boy so happy and having fun with someone his own age. "He seems to have an inventive mind....he's a really good kid" The werebunny smiled softly then turned to Kaze.
"Setting wards?" He questioned, arching a red eyebrow at her. He had no idea what that even was, nor anything about setting one up.
kaze1981 Arian gave Aikori a smile as the other lanturn helped him with the chair and managed to open his room door, soft silvery light spilling out as soon as the heavy door was pushed inwards.
The glow was more readily apparent as Arian with Aikori's help managed to get the chair over to the wardrobe - its source a medium-sized bluish globe from which masses of star-shaped flowers grew.
It even had butterflies fluttering around, the little insects of various shades.Arian pointed out the tree as he opened the wardrobe before hopping up on the chair "Mummy got it from a friend of hers although she won't tell me who. I think it's so pretty and spiffy though. What do you think of it Aikori?"Kaze laughed, "You could say that" she said with a smile, the smile fading at Enikil's question-answer to her question about wards.
For a moment she hesitated, grey eyes looking the direction of Arian's room to make sure Arian and Aikori were occupied before answering. "You know that I'm a mage by trade and might have wondered why I didn't use any today considering that generally I use it quite a lot - especially levitation magic since it's part of air magic which is one of the two elemental magics I specialise in" She smiled ruefully. "Well wards are something that keep magic from spilling out - keep it contained in one place."
The half sprite sighed "And right now is the only way that I can do any real magic at all."
Enikil When Aikori caught sight of the plant, his green eyes widened in awe. It had to be one of the prettiest things he had ever seen! He'd never seen such a sight before, he wanted to reach out and touch it but knew better then to try. He didn't want to scare the butterflies away.
"That is so cool! You're so lucky Arian!!" Aikori excalimed, keeping his eyes glued to the plant.Silently, Enikil wondered why Kaze couldn't use her magic freely. He had noticed that she hadn't been using her magic at all since he'd seen her lately. Listening to her carefully, he looked to the boys in the room then back to Kaze.
"I have a feeling that something is wrong, Is everything okay?" Enikil asked softly, expressing his concern for his friend.
kaze1981 Arian tugged the blanket down from the top of the wardrobe and dropped it carefully to the floor, before carefully hopping down from the chair so as not to trip over his tail. "Want to hold it?" He asked Aikori. "I don't think the butterflies will mind - they don't mind when I tug it down and hold it - it's lighter than it looks which is really odd since it's got all those star flowers growing from it."
The unicorn boy scooped up the rug "I can pull it down once we get this set up and get some food if you want" he offered.Kaze sighed and looked quickly from Arian's room and then back to the table "Arian doesn't know, but the reason I'm staying with Kori is partly for my own protection." The half sprite looked down at the table. "I don't know if I told you that I met my mother and found out I had a cousin" Kaze's voice was very quiet, the words going no furthur than the table.
"I also ended up at the elemental court - the air court. Kori and I went there to rescue my cousin - well more he's my mother's cousin" Kaze gave a short humourless laugh. "They were trying him for treason because he refused to stop seeing my mother."
It might have seemed odd that Kaze was talking about her family in response to something that was wrong, although the two tied together along with why the half sprite was not using any magic.

++ [ Entry 46 - Private RP - Tayne, Mikomi and Arian ] ++Mizu_Taji Tayne's footsteps plodded against the sidewalks, though her mind was far from thinking on where she was going. So many things... so many things had happened in the span of one day... 24 short hours, and yet her life had changed... Her dad was alive? She was having a hard enough time grasping that concept, let alone that she was a child of one of the most powerful fire entities of this century. The power to create and bend fire to her will? Yeah right... But then again, it DID explain how she had caught fire, more then once, and not be burned by it's flaming tongue. It was all so much to take in... Oddly enough, it was the timid little light's idea to for a walk. Her mother seemed so upset by the turn of events that had fallen in front of her, though Mikomi couldn't see why. She thought Tayne would be happy to see that her father was still alive, that he still cared, but that seemed far from the reaction she saw in her adoptive parent's eyes.
Mikomi also thought it would be fun to be able to control fire. She could probably even save people, if she practiced enough.
But she had a feeling that Tayne wasn't going to come by this easily...
"Mama! Look, a park!" she said, trying to sound as cheery as she could. There wasn't anyone around at that very moment in time, so the many different pieces of park equipment peeked the girl's interest. They looked even...fun.
Tugging on her mother's hand, she looked up with pleading violet eyes.
"Cummon mom! Let's go and play together!"Tayne forced a smile across her face. She felt bad that she had neglected Mikomi so much over the past day. Making up for it by playing with her sounded like a good break from worrying. "How can I say no..." she said, so preocupied that she failed to realize that this was indeed the same park she met Kaze a few weeks ago... kaze1981 Arian sat under a tree sketching, the unicorn boy trying to draw the selection of leaves in front of him. It would have been easy just to draw just the 'leaf' shape, but the unicorn boy didn't want to do that as it would be too easy.
He'd tried drawing feathers too earlier - one of his that he'd shed from his wings, the one he'd received from Prisma and kept with his feather collection and one that he'd found while in the park.
Arian sighed. He missed Mummy, was still upset with her for going when she'd said she wouldn't leave him unless he wanted her too.
She promised she wouldn't and she did, even though she promised not to and it's all Uncle Kori's fault!
That didn't mean he wasn't upset with Mummy too - she'd broken her promise when she said she wouldn't and she hadn't taken him with her even though he'd wanted to go as she'd said it'd be too dangerous.
And she'd had a few arguments with Uncle Kori - he'd heard her doing it when she thought he'd been asleep, but hadn't.
She'd been arguing about having to go, had told Uncle Kori that someone called Kirith could do it - she'd sounded really unhappy about doing whatever it was she'd gone to do and at one point the unicorn spirit had thought that she wouldn't do it.
Then Uncle Kori had said something that had made Mummy argue more and then finally agree to whatever it was he'd wanted her to do.
She'd told him the next morning, her voice hesitant and unhappy and she'd given him a lanturn - apparently something she'd been wanting to give him as a surprise - she'd been planning to have a small party she said - just the two of them with cookies, banana milkshake and a new recipe for lemonade that she wanted to try out...
Instead she'd packed some things into a small bag, said something to Uncle Kori that had made him less mean than usual and promised to be back in a week.
Arian still missed her though - for one thing Uncle Kori didn't cook and for another he wasn't any fun, even though he was being less mean.
Arian paused in his sketching, the unicorn boy half-closing his eyes.
He'd used the lanturn she'd given him the night of the day she'd left, curiousity and a longing he couldn't put a name to making him reach for the silvery, flowered lanturn.
Even now with eyes half-closed the unicorn boy could still remember the warmth he'd felt, the glowing strings of star-like flowers...
Then the lanturn had gone, the only sign that it had been there the strange star-flower markings that wound their way from his shoulders to his hands like a tattoo. Mizu_Taji Tayne picked out the unicorn boy almost instantly, surprised that she hadn't seen him before. She must have really been thinking hard if she had missed him. Looking around, she saw no sign of Kaze, which didn't make her feel comfortable. Shaking her head, she quickly concluded that Arian was most likely capable of going out on his own from time to time, so it didn't worry her too much. "Look Mikomi. It's the one friend I was telling you about," she said with a smile, hoping that maybe getting Mikomi a new friend would cure her of her paranioa of new people. Mikomi's cheery demenor quickly drained from her eyes. Skuttling behind Tayne's legs, she peered out to look at this so-called 'friend'. It was the unicorn boy that her mom had told her about. What was his name again? Aran? Still, he was new to her, therefore scary all the samePurposly ignoring Mikomi's fleeting move, Tayne walked over to the tree, pleased to see one of her first friends she had ever made. It also make the girl feel better as she saw Mikomi staying close, too afraid to speak, but too curious to stay behind. Leaning on the tree for a moment, she watched him try to sketch the leaves. "Hey there Arian" kaze1981 Arian looked up as he heard the voice call his name and then smiled as he recognised the woman. "Hi Tayne!" He shifted, the movement dislodging the sketchpad he'd put down in his lap.
"I've got feathers now! Mummy won a lanturn for me - something to do with roses and.." He fell silent as he remembered that Mummy had gone away, looking miserable for a moment until a slight movement from behind Tayne caught his eyes. "Hello?" His emerald green eyes looked questioning. Mizu_Taji Tayne noticed the slight sadness in the boy's demenor. Finding this quite odd, she was about to ask if anything was the matter, but then noticed that he became interested in her own adoptive daughter. "I see you noticed the new addition to my family." she smiled. There was no way she was letting Mikomi get out of this now. "This is my daughter, Mikomi. She came out of the lanturn that I had with me the last time we got to talk." Mikomi peered out again from behind Tayne's legs. Great, he knew that she was there. Once she heard her mother mention that she was around him before in someway though, she felt a little more at ease. Closing her eyes, she waited. His aura DID feel familiar, only a little different then before, and it wasn't JUST the wings...
"...flowers..." she managed to whisper out. After getting a confused look from Tayne, she pointed to Arian's arms.
"...He's got flowers now too... He didn't before..." she explained meekly, then quickly retracted her hand, afraid she had offended the boykaze1981 Arian grinned at Tayne, then tried to catch a glimpse of the girl hiding behind Tayne. "Would you like a cookie Mikomi? They're not as good as the ones Mummy makes, but they're ok. You can have one too Tayne - I put the bag somewhere by my lanturn."
His grin turned into a friendly smile as he caught sight of Mikomi peeking out from behind Tayne's legs, the smile widening as the girl mentioned his markings "Yes, I got them from a lanturn Mummy got me." Again there was a touch of sadness, his emerald green eyes looking somewhat miserable at the word 'Mummy'. "They kind of remind me of my tree."
Arian blinked "And my name's Arian which apparently means silver - though I'm not really silvery... Sorry I should have said that first, but I forgot" he smiled ruefully at Mikomi. "Since your Mummy already knows my name." Mizu_Taji Mikomi took in a deep breath. Very slowly she forced her feet to move enough so that she was next to Tayne instead of behind her. She peered at Arian with truthful interest. He seemed to get quiet whenever he mentioned his mother. Did something bad happen to her?
"A cookie sounds... nice... thank you" She could feel Tayne smile a wide smile. Well, if it made her mom happy, maybe, just maybe she would talk to people a bit more.Tayne also noticed the sadness again. This didn't seem like Arian's style, though she had only met him once. "You don't seem like your chipper self Arian... Anything wrong?" kaze1981 Arian picked up the bag from where it had been half-hidden by his jade lanturn, the cookies something that Uncle Kori had picked up when the fallen angel had reluctantly gone to the supermarket. The ex angel had also picked up some icecream which made the unicorn spirit wonder if the lavender haired man had been trying to bribe him... Especially since he hadn't had a home cooked meal since Mummy had gone.
The unicorn boy shook his head slightly and offered the bag to Mikomi before answering Tayne's question. "Mummy's gone. She said it's only for a week but..."
But she had promised him she wouldn't leave - not unless he'd wanted her to and she'd broken her promise...
And he still didn't know what Uncle Kori had said to make her go and... "And it's all Uncle Kori's fault!" he said speaking his thoughts aloud. Mizu_Taji Tayne sat down on the ground crosslegged. Why on earth would Kaze leave? Did this 'Uncle Kori' scare her away or something? "Well that's not good..." she mused, allowing her own thoughts to pass through her lips. "I actually had a question for her... but I guess it'll have to wait..." Looking at the little boy with concern, she sighed. What could she do to help? "Uncle Kori doesn't sound very nice if he made your mama leave..." Mikomi noted with her usual shy tone as she carefully reached in for a cookie. She took a small nibble. Store bought. Not the greatest tasting, but edable enough. Taking another bite she at once tried to change the subject. One of the few things she hated more then new people was people who were sad, but at least she wasn't afraid to change that.
"What were you doing in your pretty book? The star on the front is very elegant, just like my mama's new book her daddy gave her..."kaze1981 After Mikomi took a cookie Arian offered the bag of cookies to Tayne, having first taken out one for himself "Could I help with your question Tayne?" he asked. "I like helping my friends and maybe I can help you too."
The unicorn boy was curious as to what Tayne wanted to ask his Mummy about, although he meant it when he said that he liked helping his friends - if it was something he could help with then he'd try his hardest to help Tayne.
He gave Mikomi a smile as she asked about his book "It's my drawing book - Mummy gave it to me so that I could draw things if I wanted, but I'm not that goood - want to see?"
The unicorn spirit lifted the book up from his lap. The book contained all the drawings he'd ever done - although to his mind the early ones were really crappy.
Mummy had said he was improving though.
Mummy...
He missed her, she was always so cheerful and although she could be stern she was just really, really nice... And she cooked real good too.
He liked eating her cooking - she made the best salads and the best cookies and best of all she remembered he was a vegetarian.
Uncle Kori hadn't - the first night that Mummy had gone the fallen angel had ordered something called pizza and told him all kids liked pizza. Actually Arian was pretty sure the fallen angel had wanted to call him brat like he usually did, but the taller man had stopped himself.
He'd ordered a meat pizza and looked irritated when Arian had told him he didn't eat meat, but he'd taken the box and disposed of it.
The unicorn boy had made himself sandwiches that night, watered his tree and looked over Mummy's dragon collection.
The next night it had been pizza again - although this time it had been a vegetarian one.
It had been ok - but it wasn't Mummy's cooking and the cookies Uncle Kori had found weren't as good as the ones Mummy baked fresh each morning.
Four days on and Arian was sick of pizza.
He just wanted Mummy to come back.
A thought occured to him and he looked at Mikomi "Your Mummy has a book sort of like my one too? What does it look like? Mummy owns a set of them, but she let me have this one as she doesn't really use it. She doesn't use the one with the sun on it or the fire flame either - but Mummy doesn't really like fire I don't think." Mizu_Taji Ice blue eyes wavered at the mention of Kaze not liking fire. That wasn't what she needed to hear, though it was nice to know before hand. Even with that sad fact ringing throughout her thoughts, it was kind of nice to know that Kaze did have books, including the fire one, that was similar to the one that her 'father' had given her. "I don't think you'll know much about it... seeing as you mom doesn't use it either. I need to ask her about my fire book..." she mused, almost to herself, as she reached into the cookie bag Mikomi finished off the cookie, then nodded at the mention of the fire book.
"Tayne's daddy came by yesterday and gave her the book. He hadn't seen her for over 19 years... he said he was hiding... but he didn't really say why..." She paused for a moment, trying to remember all that was said. "He tried to take mama away from me... said she could never see me again... but mama wouldn't go. I think she scared him!" she laughed at the last part, thinking that Tayne being angry was actuall quite funny.
Going on her tiptoes so she could see, Mikomi peered over Arian's shoulder to look at his pictures he made.
"They're pretty Arian! You're good!" she said with a timid giggle.Tayne shivered at the light's rememberance of the conversation she had with him. Not because she was afraid of the man, but of what he said. Saying she would kill someone if she didn't come with him, but she refused to believe him, but still... She HAD to get this whole thing sorted out. kaze1981 Arian blinked at Tayne "You have a fire book?" he asked curiously. "Does it glow? Mine glows sometimes, but it's not very bright." The unicorn spirit paused for breath and then confided "The ones Mummy uses glow a lot though, even if all she does is write in them."
Maybe it was the writing that made it glow, although the unicorn boy wasn't sure what writing had to do with glowing and he still hadn't found where Mummy kept the rest of her books and so he hadn't been able to look for himself.
Listening as Mikomi spoke, the unicorn boy was even more curious. Tayne's Daddy sounded like not a nice person if he'd been trying to take Miss Tayne away, but it also made him feel a little jealous - after all if Tayne stayed why hadn't Mummy stayed? Why had she let Uncle Kori make her go?
Worse of all, although the unicorn spirit didn't say anything he was worried that maybe Mummy wouldn't be back when she said she would.. After all she'd already broken one promise...
Maybe she doesn't want me anymore...
Mikomi's voice interrupted his thoughts, the fact that she liked his pictures making him feel warm and glowy and happy inside if for a moment - it was nice that someone else apart from his Mummy liked his pictures, nice that... "Thanks Mikomi, I'm not really that good though."
A thought suddenly struck him, "I wonder if Mummy has a Daddy or Mummy too." If Tayne could have a Daddy, maybe Mummy could have one too, even though he'd never heard her say anything about having one. Mizu_Taji "Yeah, it glows sometimes..." Tayne stated, thinking back. She didn't have her book with her at the moment. Though Mikomi's comment seemed to make him feel a bit better, Arian still didn't seem very happy. "Do you miss your mom Arian? You seem awfully sad today..." She then cursed herself. She was probably just going to make it worse... Mikomi had a different plan of attack for making Arian feel better.
"Arian, could you show me how you drew that one leaf? It was so pretty that I want to try... if that's alright with you that is...." she clung to her arm, slightly reverting to her shy, people-afraid self.Smiling, Tayne was glad that Mikomi was able to make friends with Arian. He was a good influence after all, so kind and thoughtful, though a tad curious, but Mikomi was the same way once she got to know the person. kaze1981 Arian nodded miserably "It's not the same without her even though Uncle Kori's not being as mean as usual. I think Mummy said something to him before she left to make him not be so mean, but she promised me she wouldn't leave if I didn't want her to and she left anyway... Even though I didn't want her to go.. Don't want her to go." It seems that it's the fact that Kaze had promised Arian not to leave that was especially upsetting the unicorn spirit. "Why would she promise not to go and then go? I don't understand and it's not fair!"
Arian was upset at both Uncle Kori and Mummy.. Well he was upset with Mummy - really upset with her - but he was upset and angry with Uncle Kori since this was his fault. All his fault!
And underlying it all was the fear that...
Mikomi's voice interrupted his thoughts, causing the unicorn spirit to start, silvery-grey wings ruffling and a couple of silvery-grey feathers falling.
Arian blinked as Mikomi's words sank in and then finally he nodded "Erm sure" he sounded slightly hesitant as he added. "I'm not that good at it though. I still need to practise lots and lots to get better."
Maybe if he helped Mikomi to draw the leaf she wanted he wouldn't have to think about the fact that Mummy might not want him any more... Mizu_Taji Yup. I made it worse... "Please try not to be too mad at your mom Arian... I'm sure your mom will explain why she did this when she gets back..." she started, getting up from her seated position and walking over to him. "And it's only for a week. Like Mikomi said, my dad left me alone for over 19 years to fend for myself. You're lucky" Mikomi blinked, feeling REALLY bad for seemingly scaring him with her question.
"I... I'm sorry... you don't have to if you don't want to..." she muttered sadly. She didn't like to frighten people, even if it was just an accident.
She started thinking about things that Arian said earlier, about it being his Uncle Kori's fault. The mean man must be watching Arian was his mama was away. Maybe he just needed a break from him. That's when an idea came to the little spirit.
"Would... would you like to come over for dinner tonight? Mama's getting a lot better at cooking... but like I said... if you don't want to..."kaze1981 But what if she doesn't come back? Arian thought miserably. What if...
The rest of what Tayne said sunk in "Nineteen years?!" He sounded surprised. Nineteen years was ages and ages in Arian's book, but maybe if Tayne's Daddy could come back, then maybe just maybe his Mummy would come back - although he didn't want her to take nineteen years - nineteen years was almost forever!
Arian blinked at Mikomi as she looked sad suddenly "I don't mind helping you draw the leaf. I just.. Are you sure you really want me to help you?" The unicorn spirit couldn't understand why Mikomi would want him to help her when he hadn't managed to get his drawings completely right, but if she really wanted him to then he was ok with...
He realised that Mikomi was still speaking and then looked hesitant "Would it be ok if I did. I don't think Uncle Kori can cook at all since he keeps ordering pizza and I'm sick of pizza... And the first time he ordered a meat pizza and I don't eat meat so I couldn't eat it." Mizu_Taji The blue-violet haired woman smiled. A dinner guest WOULD be nice... "I don't mind at all Arian, but you should double check with Kori, just in case. You don't have to right now though, dinner is a few hours away yet..." "It's just you jumped when I asked...See?" she bent down and plucked a silver feather from off the ground. "You even lost a few feathers... I didn't mean to scare you..." she said, twirling the feather in her hand slighly.
Listening to Arian, Mikomi became a bit confused. "Veg...ge...tar..i...an...?" she stated, unsure of the word. She had read many books, but that word never came up in any of them. "Is that when certain foods make you sick?"kaze1981 Arian made a face when Tayne mentioned telling Uncle Kori, although if Mummy had been there she would have probably made him tell Uncle Kori too "Ok, though he probably won't even care." Not that he was going to ask right now as he didn't really want to talk to Uncle Kori right now.
Arian shook his head "I was juat thinking so I didn't really hear you properly at first and it took me by surprise... It doesn't mean I mind." He smiled "And I'm always losing feathers.. Mummy said it was just the older ones though."
He paused slightly for breath before answering the second question "Vegetarian just means that I don't eat meat. Not that it'd make me sick.. At least I don't think it would." He frowned "I still don't want to eat it though." Mizu_Taji "Oh!" she exclaimed slightly. "I'm glad I didn't scare you then! I don't like to scare people." Looking at his book again, she pondered at how to procede.
"How do you make the leaf's vainy things? Those always confuse me..." she admited shyly, glancing back and forth from the book to Arian."No meat then. But tell me Arian, what do you like to eat?" asked Tayne. "Is there anything special that you'd like me to make?" kaze1981 Arian looked at Tayne "I don't really mind as long as it's not pizza - all Uncle Kori does is order pizza and it was ok for the first and second day, but now I'm sick of pizza."
Turning his attention back to Mikomi he told his female lanturn spirit "I'm not very good at drawing the vein-thingy, but I'm trying to practise to get better.
That's why I keep the leaf so I can see what it looks like and try and draw it properly. That and practise more and more so I can get better." Mizu_Taji Mikomi tilted her head. Arian wasn't very confident in his abilities as an artist. All he had to say about it was critisism. Maybe this wasn't a good idea after all.
"Would you feel better to postpone the lesson until you feel your skills have improved?" she asked with full out thoughtfull-ness. "We could do something else if you want."Tayne yawned and sat back down, thinking. Arian and Kaze were talking about food the last time they met, and the boy asked her for something. Now what was it? She could only remember, at least at that very moment, that it contained bannana. But she was determined to figure it out before he came over for dinner. kaze1981 Arian shook his head "Not unless you don't want to" Arian said. "I'll never get better if I don't practise and I want to be really good one day." The unicorn spirit smiled at Mikomi "I kind of like drawing, especially with other people. I drew some pictures with someone called Prisma once and she did a pretty rainbow-coloured picture... And she let me keep a feather for my feather collection. Mummy's helped me draw too - but she doesn't really like to draw." Mizu_Taji Mikomi smiled back the best she could, then wondered if she looked odd. Pushing the thought aside she walked over to the tree Arian was sitting against when she first saw him and sat down.
"Okay then... how about I watch you for a little, and then I'll try!" she suggested happily. Arian was so nice, and the little spirit was becoming inwardly exited about him coming over for dinner.
That is if his Uncle Kori let him. kaze1981 Arian found himself grinning as Mikomi smiled - the purple lanturn spirit seemed a little shy to him, but the fact she was smiling meant she didn't mind being around him...
At least he hoped she didn't mind being around him.
"That works for me" he told her, turning to a clean page in his book before looking carefully at the leaf.
"I always draw the outside of the leaf first" he said as he carefully drew the outline of the leaf, trying to remember to make the lines faint at first like he'd been taught. That way it'd be easier for him to try and fix things later.
"Drawing the outside is the easy part." RP status: in progress...

++ [ Entry 47 - self roleplay ] ++Boxes lay everywhere, some still sealed with thin, silvery tape (that Kaze had produced earlier from a box somewhere). Most boxes however were in various stages of unpacking, contents spilling haphazardly onto the carpet.
Arian rummaged through the nearest, producing a sketch book, his feather collection and yesterday's lessons... But no colours or pencils.
Another box yielded some of Kaze's clothes and he shoved those back in hastily. Ever since the cherry ink episode, Kaze seemd to get nervous of him being near material - especially as his Mum put it stainable material.
Frowning the unicorn spirit started to open a new box, then paused - it was getting hard to find anything, what with the boxes scattered around as they were.. Besides Mum had told him not to open any more boxes before disappearing out the door to go see if Uncle Kori was around.
Dumping the sketchbook onto a nearby shelf, Arian peered in one of the open boxes - maybe he could help put stuff away - like the baking stuff. Those would go in the kitchen - easy enough... Right?
***
Thirty minutes later Arian was currently revising the 'easy' part, in fact the laturn spirit was wondering if he should disappear.. Hopefully before Mum came back with Uncle Kori... And they needed eggs, and milk and well maybe a mop too, to take up the interesting mess that had came about after the food colouring had hit the flour, and egg mix that was currently gracing the the floor.
Despite himself, Arian paused to poke the sticky mixture thoughtfully - he hadn't seen such a colour before.. Well not since that time when he'd dumped most of Mum's food colouring mix into the cake mixture to see what would happen and turned the resulting cake a pitch, burnt-like black.
His Mum hadn't been too happy with that incident either, even when Arian had cheerfully volunteered to eat the resulting cake, wondering if the cake would taste as burnt as it looked or if it would taste cake-like.
Kaze had dumped the cake though and he'd had two days worth of extra lessons in what should have been his spare time - definately not fun.
He didn't want to think about what Mum would do when she saw this mess, especially since the whole thing smelt really eggy, although maybe if he found the mop he could kind of clean it up before she got back and neither she or Uncle Kori would ever know.
Suiting actions to words the unicorn spirit rummaged through some of the other open boxes and then in the stuff Kaze had dumped in a cupboard that morning.
There was nothing there that even vaguely hinted at a mop.
Next he tried the boxes in what was to be his room, the boxes in the bathroom, the boxes in the hallway and even the box near the big and unlit fireplace - the one in the room with the nice windows that looked out over the Upper Market.
Nothing.
Turning to head dejectedly back to the kitchen and see if he could find a banana or something, the unicorn spirit tripped over a partially open box sending it tipping over, its contents spilling over onto the soft gey carpet.
Biting his lip nervously the unicorn spirit started to scoop up the contents - mostly random knicknacks and a few of his Mum's tiny dragon collection - when something silver and green caught his eye.It was a necklace, the chain, simple - made of many small beads of silver and hanging from it was a pendant a silver and green something type pendant swirling round four dark green gems.
Arian stared at it fascinated - it was really pretty and it was...
It looked kind of familiar, although he knew for sure it was the first time he'd ever seen it - he didn't even know Mum owned something like this - it wasn't like the sort of necklaces he'd seen her wear after all and the chain was too small.. Well at least it looked a lot smaller than the ones that she had... And..
And..."Arian is that you?" The slam of the door had him hastily stuffing the necklace into the box and shoving some more knicknacks on top of it.
For some reason he didn't want Mum to know that he'd seen it, not yet anyway. Besides when she saw the..."Uncle Kori's going to come over later and" Kaze paused, her nose catching a whiff of a funny smell from the kitchen - one that hadn't been there when she'd popped off to Kori's appartment which was further down into the North of market area where she and Arian would now be living."It was an accident" Arian figured he'd best get that part in before Mum saw the kitchen."Uh huh.." Kaze's voice sounded dubious as her footsteps paused and then turned in the direction of the kitchen.10...9...8...7... Arian silently counted down as he heard the footsteps pause, then the long silence that followed. He'd reached '4' by thee time Kaze had recovered enough."Arian!"Sighing Arian trudged out to face the music, the strange pendant forgotten for now in the face of upcoming doom in the form of Kaze's wrath over the kitchen.

++ [ Entry 48 - self roleplay ] ++Arian couldn't help smiling as he felt the familiar brushstrokes through his hair as Kaze prepared put it back in a braid. He liked it not because he couldn't do it for himself - because he could - he wasn't a baby after all...
No he liked it because it was soothing, almost hypnotic and made him sleepy... And it made him feel safe - made him feel warm and tingly because Kaze was Mum and she loved him.
For once his Mum's hair was loose, the soft blue hair falling into unruly curls that she kept out of her eyes by the the circlet she wore on her forehead.
Privately Arian thought it was one of her prettier ones, and definately one of the more interesting ones as it glowed and sparkled.
Arian was more interested however in what was currently perched on top of his Mum's head with a grumpy expression in it's red-brown eyes.
A dragon - or more to be precise - a baby dragon which Uncle Kori had brought in a box earlier on with an unusually sour look on his face.
Mum hadn't been too happy at first - something about dragons and fire and air and stuff that she had not really gone into and Arian had only overheard bits off as he'd tiptoed over to his bedroom door and placed his ear against the door.
He'd found himself doing a lot of that lately, trying to overhear conversations - ever since finding that pendant - the strange but familiar pendant that shouldn't be familiar but was.
Arian frowned slightly - and because of that he'd overheard things that he wasn't sure his Mum had meant for him to overhear - like some one called Kirith who she didn't seem to be happy about and some secret thing that she and Uncle Kori argued about. None of what he'd overheard seemed to explain anything about the pendant though and he wasn't sure that he could ask Mum as then he'd have to admit snooping in her things and she'd get upset about that.
But maybe... Maybe he could ask Aikori about it
Aikori was his friend and maybe between the two of them they could work out the mystery behind the pendant. He might even be able to ask Mikomi about it too, although he wasn't to sure where he stood friendship-wise with Mikomi as he hadn't seen her in ages and ages and although he liked her a lot and thought she might be a friend like Aikori was his friend - he didn't know if she wanted to be his friend back."Penny for your thoughts" Kaze's voice was amused as she tied off the braid and then grabbed the protesting baby dragon off the top of her head.Arian blinked "Wha..?" he couldn't help but be surprised as Kaze plonked the dragon in his lap. One finger reaching up to poke it experimentally before Kaze swatted his hand away."Don't do that, it'll upset him and he might bite" Kaze said automatically before smiling. "Anyway I was just wondering what you were thinking about as you seemed to be thinking so hard about it whatever it was." She laughed "Fortunately it meant that you also kept still so I finished faster."Arian decided to settle for gently patting the top of the dragon's head instead - being bitten didn't sound fun at all. "Can we keep it?"Kaze shook her head "No, I'm only babysitting it as a favour for Uncle Kori, we have to give it back later as he's going to give it to it's real owner.""Oh" Arian's voice was disappointed. He thought he might have liked to own a dragon, although this one kind of reminded him of Uncle Kori - it evern had the same unhappy and mean look that Uncle Kori gave to everyone. "What do baby dragons eat?""Pretty much anything that you give it if you'd let it" Kaze gave him a stern look. "And no that does not mean that you experiment by finding random things to feed it."Arian pouted slightly having already come up with a list of things to 'try'. "Can I feed it cookies?"Kaze shook her head "No you'll make it get even fatter than it already is.""Sandwiches?""No.""Banana Milkshake?""No! Though you may if you want feed it the warm milk I'm about to make it" the half sprite offered.Arian thought it over "Can I warm the milk?"Kaze remembered the last time Arian had been at the stove unsupervised "Definately not!" At the crestfallen look on his face she added "But I'll let you bath him later."Arian thought it over "With the honey soap and smelly smelly stuff?" He saw the look on his Mum's face and decided to quit while he was ahead. "Ok maybe just the honey soap."Kaze thought it over and smiled herself "I think uncle Kori can live with that."

++ [ Entry 49 - Private RP - Arian and Vidali] (RP done in MSN) ++Quote: Kaze says: Arian pushed open the door to the lanturn shop, the little bell that he'd never been able to find tinkling, the sound familiar despite the length of time he'd been gone. Kaze had warned him that things might have changed, that there might not even be a lanturn shop anymore, that they'd been gone so long that he shouldn't expect things to stay as they'd been before he'd left, but the shop still looked the same as always, and the park where he'd met Aikori and talked to Mikomi was still there too.Quote: Em says: Vidali had strayed. Yes...he felt that his 'mother' was entirely too protective of him, after all...he wasn't precisely a lanturn anymore...he didn't need to be carried around, and he was old enough, in his own opinion, to make decisions regarding where to go and what to do...as long as he didn't go TOO far...right? So here he was quietly eyeing the shop's interior...Vidali had always been a soft-spoken, but stubborn child. When the other entered, blue eyes turned to regard Aikori...ah...who was this? Vidali couldn't remember seeing him before...metallic fingers drilled thoughtfully on a countertop, but he didn't say a word.Quote: Kaze says: Arian pushed open the door to the lanturn shop, the little bell that he'd never been able to find tinkling, the sound familiar despite the length of time he'd been gone. Kaze had warned him that things might have changed, that there might not even be a lanturn shop anymore, that they'd been gone so long that he shouldn't expect things to stay as they'd been before he'd left, but the shop still looked the same as always, and the park where he'd met Aikori and talked to Mikomi was still there too.
It didn't take long for Arian to notice the little lanturn spirit - well at least little in comparison to him - though then again it didn't seem as if the other spirit was trying to hide if the sound of fingers hitting the counter was anything to go by. The blue spirit had the strangest arm the unicorn boy had ever seen and.. and... "How does that work?" The question sort of just tumbled out as emerald eyes stared at the arm which looked like it was totally made out of metal. "And does it hurt to do that?"
Quote: Em says: He raised an eyebrow, as if the question the other had asked was ludicrous. Vidali was actually quite mature for his age, and though he'd never actually try to be rude, his actions oft came off that way. "Work? I really don't know..." Raising the metal appendage, he curled those strange fingers into a fist. "And it doesn't hurt...I just...manifested like this..." Vidali really didn't know enough to be self-conscious about his very obvious difference. "I'd really never thought about it before."Quote: Kaze says: The raising of the other spirit's eyebrow seemed to go over Arian's head, probably as the unicorn spirit was staring at the hand in total and utter fascination as the other curled the metal fingers into a fist "I didn't know metal could bend like that and I've never seen an arm made out metal before" he said before adding absently. "It's kind of cool though. Is you arm really hard like metal or is it soft since you can bend it and stuff?"
Quote: Em says: "Uh...it's hard, yes..." Spreading his fingers, he held out his hand for the other to peruse. "See? It has hinges...so it can bend." Vidali wasn't shy, and though he didn't go out of his way to seek conversation, talking to someone if they talked to him first wasn't at all a problem for the little spirit. They hadn't been introduced, but that didn't stop Vidali from plunging headfirst into showing this new fellow his 'oddity'.Quote: Kaze says: Arian peered at the hinges closely and then grinned at Vidali "So the hinges makes it bend just like any other arm, and I guess since it's hard then your arm must be really strong since metal's strong. Do you.." He started, another question on the tip of his tongue and then he paused. "By the way I'm Arian. I've been helping Mum move into her new place, but I got bored and I hate being bored."
Quote: Em says: He nodded, "I can pick up things that my Mom can't..." Vidali had already decided that this fellow had never gotten over the question-asking stage that Em always seemed to think that he should have, but the blue spirit had always found that he could figure most things out for himself. "I'm Vidali. And I don't get bored often...how do you fix being bored?" Quote: Kaze says: Arian frowned slightly "Well when I'm bored I find stuff to do, like drawing or playing games. Mum won't let me cook though - not since the time I tried to make a cake and added a bit of all the different colour stuff she had in the cupboard because I wanted to see what it would look like."
Arian looked thoughtful "I like to ask questions to, but that's because I like to know things."
Quote: Em says: He laughed softly, "I mixed up sugar and salt once, but Mom told me that most people do that at least once...but then, she says a lot of strange things." Vidali was of the decided opinion that he was quite educated on the subject of his mother, and oft acted as though he was more knowledgeable than she. "And I only ask questions if I can't find things out for myself first..." Vidali was one who liked to reason out things for himself.Quote: Kaze says: Arian smiled "That's different to me - I'm almost aways asking questions! I even ask Uncle Kori questions, though he never answers any of them - he just acts mean and calls me a brat. I guess I could find out things myself too - like detectives do and stuff, but I prefer to just ask people." He shrugged, "That way I can talk too."
Quote: Em says: Canting his head to one side, the smaller male peered at him curiously for a long moment. "I don't usually talk too much...I find out a ton of things by listening...and if I ask mom one question...she can talk for hours..." Vidali smiled faintly, apparently not minding his talkative parent, "She feels comfortable talking to me...she isn't like that with everybody , but I'm her little boy, so I s'pose it's different..." Quote: Kaze says: Arian grinned "That's different to me, I talk a lot - Uncle Kori would probably say too much, Mum never minds though she says that I should try not to ask so many questions as some people don't like being asked lots of questions. The only person who i've met who's like that is Uncle Kori though - then again he doesn't seem to like much of anything. He doesn't even seem to like the scary guy Mum says I'm not allowed to talk to and he's supposed to be his special friend."
Quote: Em says: It was with a sort of understanding nod that Vidali first answered, and then plunged on. "Well I guess some people wouldn't mind and some people would, I dunno...I haven't met a whole bunch of people, least not as I remember anyway...so far I don't mind being asked questions...especially about something that's strange...like my arm..." No, Vidali didn't understand about friends and relations and such, for all his intelligence, he was still very much a child.Quote: Kaze says: Arian looked thoughtful "I met a lot of people when Mum and I were travelling, but I don't really have many friends - but maybe that's because Mum and I have been moving around a lot"
Quote: Em says: "I've been in one place all my life...why do people have to move anyway?" The idea hadn't really occured to him before, and Vidali would rather know now than have to find out on his own, for he wasn't planning on moving in the foreseeable future. Quote: Kaze says: "But moving can be fun to." Arian said brightly. "You get to meet new people and go to new places, though sometimes I wish we could have stayed longer in some of the places so I could have talked to people more and maybe made new friends. I've only really got one friend - he's a lanturn spirit like us - but that could be because his Dad and Mum know each other and are friends too." He looks thoughtful "And then there's another lanturn spirit who's really nice, but we haven't seen each other in ages and she's probably forgotten about me."
Quote: Em says: "Another? I wonder how many of us there are..." Vidali had only heard about what he was, exactly, from his Mother. "You're the first one I've met, that I can remember, anyway..." He stated matter-of-factly. "But I suppose that's because Mom has been to busy to take me places." Which explained Vidali's exploration on his own, he was genuinely curious about things beyond the house in which he lived, and his mother's personal friend Farlest...who was just -odd-...and talked far too much.Quote: Kaze says: Arian thinks about it "I think there's quite a few of them, although I've only really talked to Aikori and Mikomi, I've talked to Hikari a bit as well. Mikomi and Hikari are about the same size as you, but Aikori's the same size as me although he used to be the same size as you before he grew. I've always been this size though, ever since I can remember though I don't know why."
Quote: Em says: Vidali contemplated that a moment, frowning, "So like I changed from a lanturn, into this...I will be bigger someday?" The thought was actually kind of nice, he wasn't a small spirit, but he'd like to be more imposing...no one took you seriously even if you -did- have a mechanical arm. Quote: Kaze says: Arian nodded "Yep - that's what happened to Aikori and Dusk and Toshi told me she was the same size as you before she grew. I think it might be something to do with lanturns - that's how I got my wings and the markings on my arms"
Quote: Em says: Sapphire eyes landed on the other's wings then, now that attention was called to them. "Can you fly with those?" Of course he wasn't old enough to be able to tell, and they did look rather lovely. Yes, he had changed subjects, but that was just the way his mind worked.Quote: Kaze says: Arian shook his head "I can kind of float with them and it took me ages to work out how to do that even* he laughed. "Actually when I first got them I used to get tangled up in my wings since I wasn't used to having them."Quote: Em says: His brow furrowed in deep concentration. "So...we can grow new...pieces of us...and stuff...kinda...?" Vidali was struggling to understand the concept, as it didn't seem to fit with what he knew about people, but then, he was a spirit, and that was a different sort of thing entirely.Quote: Kaze says: Arian frowns "I don't now if it's new pieces or what they're meant to be - I don't know much about even why I was in the lanturn and I asked Mum but she didn't know either. Maybe I'll ask Toshi when I see her again since she seems to know more about the lanturns."

Quote: Em says: He nodded quickly, "I'd love to know all about what we are...and how we change...Mom told me all about other lanturns...and spirits that had all sorts of different...uh...extras...but she told me I came with mine..." Lifting his hand to indicate the robotic arm.Quote: Kaze says: Arian pointed to his horn and then down to where his tail was "I was born with the horn and tail - just like a unicorn, all the other spirits I've met have been different." He smiled ruefully "It's getting kind of late so i guess I should get back, else Mum will start to worry - even though I think it's kind of silly at times cause it's not like I'm little, I guess it's a Mum thing though."Quote: Em says: He nodded, and despite himself, the blue spirit yawned. "Mmm...Mom's probably sent Uncle Far out to look for me..." Vidali didn't bother to mention that his mother had no idea where he'd gone to. "Besides, she likes me in bed at what she calls a decent hour."Quote: Kaze says: Arian made a face "My Mum does that too. Although when I had to stay with Uncle Kori for a bit he didn't care what time I went bed. Mum yelled at him when she got back though for that. He smiled "It was cool meeting you though Vidali, maybe I'll see you here in the shop again some time. If you hang around here enough you might meet some of the othes too - like Mikomi, I remember she used to come to the shop.
Quote: Em says: He nodded, slowly straightening from where he'd been leaning on the countertop. "Yea...my uncle doesn't care either." Vidali smiled at the taller spirit, "It was cool meeting you too, Arian...I'll definitely be around!" That was, of course, assuming his mother didn't ground him when he got home...which was likely.Quote: Kaze says: Arian headed to the shop door slowly and smiled brightly at Vidali's last words and then waved "Bye Vidali", the tinkling of the shop bell sounded as the door shut behind him.

++ [ Entry 50 - Private RP - Arian and Mikomi] ++Mizu_Taji [[Setting: The cafe close to the shop]] Mikomi looked out of the large window of the cafe whistfully, watching all the people as they passed by. Things had been so uneventful for such a long time, and now she had run into one of her few friends just a few days earlier.
So many different people...
Here, alone in her little booth, Mikomi had some time to think. Think about Tayne, and how late she was at meeting her here, about Riyana and how nice it was to see her again...and about Arian.
She hadn't seen him for such a long time. Of what she could gather he had went off somewhere, where that somewhere was still needed to be figured out. That's where Riyana went...somewhere. She wondered if they had met up at all. She should've asked when she had the chance...kaze1981 It had been a few days since Arian had visited the lanturn shop - three to be exact.
Three since he'd met Vidali, a little blue lanturn spirit about the size of Mikomi.
The unicorn spirit was heading back towards the lanturn shop again to pick up some ingredients for Kaze to whip up a batch of cookies but his progress was slow as he was peeking curiously into some of the shop windows along the way. Some of the shops that he remembered didn't seem to be there anymore - like the shop he'd gone to look at the pretty stones and the post office wasn't where he remembered it to be.
There were new shops to - quite a few of them in fact.. Actually Arian remember there being quite that many shops before, but maybe that was a new thing, something that had happened while he'd been gone.
The words "Special of the Day - Banoffee Pie" on a board hanging outside what looked like a cafe caught his eye, his messy jade-green hair - braided as always swinging as he paused to take a look at the picture drawn next to the words of what looked like some sort of banana-type pie. Mizu_Taji Bright eyes flickered back and forth...where exactly was Tayne? She was supposed to be here about ten minutes ago, but then again she wasn't exactly sure. The clock inside might be a bit fast. She scanned the people as they walked by, stopping in front of the sign. There was a man walking his dog...a woman with a child...a boy with a horn... a...
Wait...a boy with a horn?
Mikomi blinked and stared a bit, though she knew that staring was often considered rude. That boy looking at the sign...could it be Arian? It had to be. There was no other person on earth with a horn, jade hair, and wings. Leaning over she tapped on the window with a smile to get his attention. kaze1981 Banana and toffee and chocolate sprinkles - the whole thing looked really interesting, especially the whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles... And bananas was one of his favourites... Arian wondered if he could talk Kaze into making it for him some time...
Or maybe he could just make it himself.. After all how hard could it...
The tapping of the glass caught his attention, distracting Arian from the 'special of the day board' and serving to focus his attention more clearly on the inside of the cafe.
The source of the tapping came from a purple girl around his height who kind of looked sort of familiar, although the unicorn spirit was pretty sure he didn't know any purple girls the same size as him.. The only purple girl he knew was Mikomi, although he hadn't seen her since just before Kaze came back on the trip she'd gone on when she'd left him with Uncle Kori and soon after he'd gone with Kaze.
The purple girl was smiling at him so he gave her a broad smile back. Mizu_Taji Mikomi waved, though was worried. Didn't he recognize her. Sure, it had been a while, but still... Wasn't she worth remembering? It was all very saddening and confusing...
Then it hit her. Of course she would seem different to him! She was bigger and older, and he hadn't seen that version of her yet. Trying to think quick, she attempted to think of a way to show that she was indeed Mikomi and not just some other purple girl, though she hadn't met any other purple girls...Could he hear her through the glass?
"Arian!" she said a bit louder then she intended, the few people who were here looked at her and then went about their drinks and food. kaze1981 Now the girl was waving at him, almost as if she knew him. Which was really really weird since if that was the case shouldn't he know her too...?
And she still looked kind of familiar as though he ought to know her - though he didn't really.
The fact that he should was bugging him though, like a puzzle that was missing too many pieces and.. And...
The best way to find out something you don't know is to ask.
Mind made up Arian pushed open the cafe door, the tinkling of the bell kind of reminding him of the bell in the lanturn shop.
It was only a matter of taking a few steps after that to reach the girl's table.
"Umm... Hi?" he asked the the girl, his smile was slightly nervous now. "Do we know each other? It's just you kind of look familiar and I feel like I should know you from somewhere, but I can't remember." Mizu_Taji Even though she knew that most likely that he wouldn't remember her with her new change, Mikomi felt a tinge of...saddness that he couldn't piece it together. Was she that different? She herself couldn't tell anymore...
He did say that he remembered her...or knew that he should...that was a start...
"Arian...It's me, Mikomi..." she said softly, sitting back down in her seat, smile a bit softer.
"It's been awhile...How have you been?" kaze1981 "Mi..ko..mi..." Arian looked startled at the girl's words. "Really?!" Actually come to think about it she did kind of look like the Mikomi he knew... Well except for the taller part - make that the much taller part.
"You got bigger, you're the same size as me now! When did that happen? Was it while Mum and me were gone? Or was it just recently?"
Arian flopped down on an empty seat, curling his tail around the legs carefully so that it wouldn't get trodden on almost automatically before wondering if he should have done that. It had been ages since he'd seen Mikomi and although he'd liked her a lot back then..
Had thought even that she might be one of his friends like Aikori was - but then he and Kaze had left before he could ask and now she she was big like him and she'd probably made other friends and...
He gave Mikomi an embarrassed smile before looking down at the table slightly. "Sorry I didn't recognise you" his voice was slightly mumbled as he wondered if Mikomi even remembered them drawing leaves together in the park. "Mum and I've been gone ages and ages and we only finished moving into Mum's place two weeks ago." Mizu_Taji Mikomi laughed a little and flushed slightly. Now that was more like it. It was so nice to see him again!
"It happened almost right after you left..." she started. "Mom got me a pretty lanturn and well, now I'm bigger," she finished with a small smile. Tilting her head, she heard something of intrest in his words.
"Oh, you're not living with your Uncle Kori anymore?" she asked with curiousity. She wondered what happened, but really didn't want to press the matter any more then it has to be pressed. kaze1981 Arian's smile slowly lost the embarassed tinge to it as Mikomi laughed - after all she was laughing - that was good right?
"No we're not - When we came back Mum said we were going to get a place of our own and when I asked why said something about it being time that she..." He scrunched up his face slightly in thought "Stopped mooching off Uncle Kori's kindness. We still go and see Uncle Kori through - Mum usually goes twice a week and sticks food in the fridge, because Uncle Kori's kind of hopeless like that."
Arian made a face "Uncle Kori's still a meanie though and he still calls me a brat."
He smiled again "But what about you? What have you been doing?" Mizu_Taji Mikomi swung her feet a little and sighed.
"I haven't been doing too much...just reading and gardening with Mom for the most part..." she said with a tinge of saddness. "Things have been going so slowly around here...So many people left...there wasn't all that many people at the shop...Not that I minded it all that much actually. It was quiet there for once. It's a nice place to read when there aren't that many people there..." She then laughed a bit again.
"But look at me! Blabbing on about how boring I am! I'm sure you had much more fun out and about with your mum, no?" kaze1981 Arian blinked "Lots of people left?" He asked Mikomi curiously. He wondered who - was it a lanturn he knew? Not that he knew that many of them - appart from Mikomi there was Aikori and he vaguely remembered Toshi, Hikari and Dusk from before...
"Talking about the shop - I met a new spirit there. He was your size.." Arian flushed slightly - it was going to take a bit of getting used to Mikomi being the same height as him. "Erm I mean the size you used to be and he had an arm that was completely made of metal which I thought was cool. he didn't mind answering my questions either."
He smiled at Mikomi "Travelling with Mum was fun, though strange as well since we saw quite a lot of places. Having lessons with her were fun too and I got to do lots of drawing. We never did any gardening though." He looked at Mikomi "What sort of stuff do you and Tayne grow? Is it stuff to eat? Or pretty things like flowers?" Mizu_Taji Mikomi grinned. It was nice to hear Arian, questions and all again.
"Bits of both...though we grow more flowers then we do things to eat...We don't worry about things rotting or getting eaten as much..." she said whistfully. "We have been trying to grow a small patch of pumpkins though...but they haven't turned out all too well...Mom says we don't have the right dirt for it..." She meakly smiled again.
"Funny how plants can be so picky sometimes..." RP status: in progress...
