Ricky gasped--he couldn't turn off his ears! There had to be something wrong with him! Oh no, Granddaddy Ari was going die! But maybe they could get a Shaman to come look at his ears and turn them off...just to make sure it wasn't catching, Ricky tried to turn off her own ears off...
...it didn't work!
Just when Ricky was about to start panicking even more, she remembered something: you can't turn ears off!
Giggling suddenly, she looked at Lee. "We're so silly, you can't turn ears off!" Giggling more, Kikifox squirmed a little and said, "Lemme up, we'll move so he can't hear us and then we'll tell him the hint!" Ricky paused, then defeated her entire plan: "But what is a good hint to make him get that we're mated? He's very silly, he might not get it..."

"What do you mean you can't turn of your ears?" Leefox gasped, and tried to do it too, just to prove to Kikifox it could be done. Except she couldn't! She couldn't turn off her ears either, and it was very sad and and aaaaaand--
Ari contemplated, just for a moment, pretending not to hear--to keep playing along--then decided otherwise.
"Congratulations you two." Now another of his granddaughters had a mate. And maybe soon there would be more great-grandchildren...He wasn't sure if he wanted to think about that or not. It made him feel even more old, but at the same time, it was always exciting to think about new kits in the family.

"I told y--wait what? Congra--oh! Oh, Leefox, I'm sorry! I ruined the gaaaame!" Kikifox lamented, eyes literally welling up when she realized what she'd done.
"I'm so sorry, Leefox, I ruined the fun..." Ricky's ears drooped and she looked down at her paws, afraid that Leefoxy would be mad and not want to be her mate anymore because she had messed up the game with Granddaddy Ari...

"Wha--Hey, Kikfox, don't cryyyyy," Leefox pleaded, feeling her own eyes tear up too. "Don't be sad, please? Please? Pretty pretty please?" Leefox didn't like seeing her mate sad and she didn't even know what to do about it and it scared her how much it hurt seeing Kikifox all sad and Leefox didn't like any of it at all!

Ricky sniffed a little, then mumbled almost inaudibly, "You aren't mad at me for ruining the secret?" She chanced a peek up at Leefox, then blinked in surprise.
"Leefox, why are you crying! What happened?" Her own problems completely forgotten, Ricky's tears dried up as she frowned and nuzzled her mate, so very confused and so very worried--Leefox wasn't allowed to cry, not never!

"Because you were crying and it made me feel bad and of course I'm not mad at you we're besty best bestest friends and mates and I could never be mad at you not ever ever ever ever eveeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrr."
Ari coughed discreetly, to remind the pair that he was still there. And to keep the cycle of crying from continuing--somehow, he had a feeling if he didn't interrupt, they would keep up at that for ages.
"You said you wanted to see the waterfall, didn't you?" he prompted, smiling at the pair.
Young love. How long had it been since he and Kazuki...?
He shook his head, and drove the thought away. Kazuki was gone now, and while he missed his mate, he was going have to learn to live with that. He didn't want to ruin their happy news with his own depression. Kazuki wouldn't want him to, either.

Oh. So her crying made Leefox cry? Well it was simple then, she couldn't ever ever ever cry again eeeeeeeeeverrrrrrrrrrrr! Just as she was about to tell Leefox that, she heard someone--Granddaddy Ari!--cough, and he was talking about the waterfall--the waterfall!
"Yea!" Kikifox agreed with a bright grin, all thoughts of her tears forgotten--but Leefox's wasn't, so she leaned over and licked her mate's cheek affectionately, to remind her not to be upset.
"Wanna go see the waterfall, Leefoxy?~"

Now that Kikifox had stopped crying, Leefox was happy again.
"Yeah, let's go see the waterfall! But we're only going to take a little peek so we can come back and show Pink Mommy and Blue Mommy and everyone else!"
Ari grinned and shook his head, not feeling the need to remind Lee that it was Sigal who had found the waterfall in the first place.
"It's over this way," he told the girls, leading the way towards the edge of the Lunarie lands.

"Deal," Ricky agreed seriously, trotting to catch up with Granddaddy Ari. "Is it preeeetty there?" Kiki asked him curiously, tilting her indigo head to the right--though she was distracted every few seconds by looking behind to her to make sure that Leefoxy was still there--she was, and every time, Kikifox felt the huge breath of relief escape her lips.
"What's your favoritest place here, Granddaddy Ari?"

"It's very pretty," Ari agreed. He had only been once or twice--being the elder of the Lunarie lands, he didn't have much time to himself to go to somewhere as far off the tribe grounds as the waterfall was.
"I bet it's all the pretty trees! They're all changing color and it's all really really pretty!" Lee exclaimed, as she ran through the fallen leaves. It was fun to make them crunch under her paws, and she kept falling behind to play in the leaves. But then she'd look up and see that Kikifox had gotten ahead, and then she'd race to catch up with her. With her mate!

Ricky was distracted from asking Graddaddy Ari what his favoritest place in the whole world was again by Leefoxy--her mate! Giggling, Ricky pounced her into the leaves, delighting in the crickycracky noises that came from the breaking leaves beneath them.
"I love fall~ You're right, everything's sooo pretty, it's totally the best," Giggling again, Ricky jumped off Lee and went flouncing through the pile of leaves as she caught up with Graddaddy Air--it was so much fun to kick them all up around her as she went!

"Yeah, but winter has pretty snow and spring has pretty flowers and summer has pretty sunshine and fall has pretty leaves and it's all the best!" Leefox giggled, probably making absolutely no sense to anyone but herself.
She suddenly stopped in her tracks when she spotted a giant pile of leaves the wind must have blown together. "Kikifox," she whispered to her mate! "let's go jump in them!"

"Ooh, that's true," Kikifox agreed seriously--because she understood it too, of course she did! Giggling too, she started walking again, though she nearly tripped over her paws to stop with Leefox.
"Yea!" Kikifox whispered back, a wicked grin lighting her features. "Ready...set...go!" Laughing now, Kikifox started running full-tilt to the pile, unable to contain her excitement.

Leefox giggled too, first pouncing on the pile of leaves like it was going to run away from her, and then rolling about in it, delighting in the crunch each and every leaf made as she rolled over it.
"This is awesome!" Leefox giggled, splashing Kikifox with leaves. She couldn't believe she'd never done this before--it was so much fuuuuuun!

Kikifox laughed as she was splashed with leaves, though she might have accidentally inhaled one or two. Spitting the remains back out with an 'ick!' noise, Kikifox shook her head and splashed some leaves back at her mate.
"It's only like the most awesomest thing ever!"
