After Moonstone Battle Solo

War Paint
Solor RP

She hadn't even afforded herself one day's respite from patrol. No, beaten and horrid as she felt, Bellatrix was out on patrol that night. Her sewn up gashes screamed, she could feel every bruise, and every angry scrape, and her head~ She could think clear enough, but movement hurt like a bad sinus infection.

She shouldn't have been out there. Not tonight.

As she walked, she favored one leg in favor of the other, and jumping was a whole other story - each landing almost ending up with her on her face. Often she stopped to stable herself against something. What was she thinking? She wasn't Bellatrix was out, alone, not thinking just like she was the night before. She had it in her mind, though, that she had to do this. She had a duty.

And if there was anything to blame it on it was the dreams. Dreams that had recently been plaguing her and turning in to nightmares. Dreams of a ruined world where she hadn't been present. if she had - well, the spirits that be made sure to show her how things would have been had she been there. Her minute presence made all the difference, and although she knew it had only been a dream she couldn't shake the terror.
She wasn't taking any chances.

This was more than protecting the one she loved, or even the citizens of Destiny City. This was personal. She had some personal demon to conquer, and Bellatrix wouldn't rest until she had won.

Little did she know that staying put would have served her better. it was a spiritual battle, and yet she was seeking the physical one. And she got it. In the form of a Youma, blindsiding her. It was big, and it was ugly, and it hit her with all the force of a football player tackling another. Bellatrix was hit and sent flying into the building beside her. Half slumped to the ground, the Amazon charged - a limping run - and creamed over the creaming of the ache in her head.
The battle was sloppy, drunken, and Not at all attractive. It was embarrassing. Bellatrix wasn't there, not entirely.

--

battle won, wounds reopened and new ones gained, Bellatrix slumped down against the building behind her, spear held in the crook of her arm.

What was Bell's monster? Her inner demon?
Not living to her full extent. At a senshi. As a human. As a senshi, she had set a routine where she wasn't pushing herself. Wasn't asking more of herself. Not really making a difference. Sure, she was keeping the monsters at bay, but what good was she really doing? Their enemy, the Negaverse, could just make more, and they did. She'd settled for the never-ending battle. Her feet weren't planted on the big picture, the endgame. As a human? Aside from sleeping, eating, and household maintenance? Her day was 3/4 of the time spent being a senshi. A senshi who, despite her rank, was far from being one with her sphere.

Fotitude.

What was fortitude?

Blood was the war paint that told the tale of a senshi who knew not themselves.

Fortitude
Solo RP

Bell lay in bed, pained and in thought. The dream had grown and she had finally seen her demon. It was herself, but half the person she was supposed to be. It was then she realized, or perhaps it was the voice in the dream that had explained. Explained that because she was not in touch with her self, her sphere, that she was so close to self destructing.
It had been slow at first. Gradual. She had distracted herself from her own destruction until it would no longer go unheard. And like a child, angered that it was going ignored, it had lashed out.

That had been the battle with Moonstone.

Before then she had simply distracted herself with her concern for Xavier. No, she didn't like to think of it that way. She loved him with all her heart and the very thought of her moved her to do just about anything. Love alone was not the key to Fortitude.

What then was fortitude? This is what had Bell thinking, staring unseeing up at her blue mesh canopy as the moonlight filtered in through the window. After the previous night's battle with the youma, Bell had rested in the ally until the light of dawn awoke her. She had carefully made it home unseen.

Bell could recite book definitions of fortitude;
Fortitude, noun. Mental and emotional strength in facing difficulty, adversity, danger, or temptation courageously.

But what did it mean?

The virtue of fortitude is firmness of spirit - a steadiness of will in doing good despite obstacles in the performance of our daily duty. Bell had been apt to pass obsticles by. Work around them rather than face them head on. Mistake number one.
Fortitude suppresses inordinate fear and curbs recklessness. Mistake number two - Bell had been reckless and uncaring.
Fortitude is the obverse of temperance. It limits inordinate rashness and fear in the face of major pain that threatens to unbalance human nature. Another mistake. Bell had been acting rashly - moving with her heart and not her head, and yet still doing her damnedest to limit her own pain.

So many damned mistakes. She'd been acting against her inner nature. Or was this simply the inner nature of the senshi self within her, someone who had lived previously and had reincarnated through her, that was now trying to turn her in to who she had been in another time, another place, another war...

Fortitude binds the will firmly to the good of reason in the face of the greatest evils, and the most fearful of all bodily evils is death. Bell was afraid of death, and yet according to her sphere she was to accept it. Accept that there were good reasons for dying. The more Bell thought about it the more she could conceed that yes - there were acceptable reasons to die. To die for once's cause, one's people, princess, and love... And so the very idea of fortitude presupposes that there are certain things we should love more than our own lives, certain things we ought to be willing to die for. Yes. With this logic she could accept dying, without being afraid of it.
We hold that the human person ought to love what is larger than himself, namely truth, justice, and the common good of the social whole. A single person did not come before the good of many. Not one's self. Not one's princess. Not even the one they loved. One ought to love the good of the entire civil community so much as to be willing to expose themself to the danger of death for its sake.

This wasn't about any one person. And that was how Bell had been playing it. It had been all a personal game up until now. Even though she understood this, she wasn't sure she could accept it.

Personal Battles
Solo RP

A few days had passed - days that Bell spent alone as she worked things out. Although injured, Bell seemed to be working frantically. Today's vigorous activating was white-washing the walls. Each ache and pain she encountered was another reminder of what she was truly doing - having a personal little 'come to jesus' as it were.

"I know my guidelines," She spoke aloud to herself, "but I keep defying them."

Sometimes it was easier to understand things if you spoke them - even by ones self. She attacked the wall with the white-wash angrily.

"I understand what I'm evidently 'supposed' to be and do, but like hell am I ready to accept it. No. The world could end tomorrow for all I know, shouldn't I dedicate my efforts to those close to me? Oh, but the dreams say no, no, protect the world, be ready to die for it." Yes, she was pissed.
"I don't care about those other people," she lied to herself, "I really don't." Okay, she was really lying to herself.

"There are bad people in this world too that aren't a part of this war - am I supposed to be ready to give my life for them, too? Really?" Yes, yes you are. You're not a god, you cant pick and choose who lives and who dies.

The atrium was done. Bell picked up the tray of whitewas and her paint roller and carried it to the living room. The floor was covered in protective plastic, and just as well, since she tossed the tray on to the floor and got back to her rage!work.

"So if my theory is correct, we were all once senshi in another time, another century, reincarnated in to this one? Or at least something in us was. Well god damn it, I'm not that person from centuries ago, I have different values from whoever the hell that person was. And she can damn well stop forcing them on me."

Though truthfully, the Bell of now and the Bellatrix of many years ago weren't all that different. The difference between the two was simply this;
Bellatrix was a rigid soldier, entirely dedicated to battle and protection of her people. Emotions didn't get in her way, however she felt deeply. She cared for everyone, even the ones who fell by her hand, the good people, the bad. All that she was existed for the greater good of the people, and the agenda of the Silver Millennium. And she was alone. Terribly alone.
Bell, well,... Bell is emotional, and as things started out, she had never really been fully invested in this war. She shirked her duties up until that first meeting. That was when she tossed her human dreams aside. She had been moved greatly by the emotions triggered at that meeting. However, though she vowed full investment into the war, she still wasn't doing all that she could do. She wasn't going the extra mile. How dedicated was she? She did not feel as deeply as Bellatrix of old. No, Bell's emotions were on her sleeve, open for the world to see. Shallow streams trickle loudly, but still waters run deep.

Bell understood all this. Pride, however, was in her way. Was she insinuating that she was shallow? Accusing herself of being so? She didn't have the calm control that Bellatrix had, and Bell was prone to exaggeration. Bellatrix had been ready to die for her people - the good ones and the bad. Bell felt that it would be a waste.

Bell was at odds with herself - the person she was and the person she needed to be. Bell though, if she became this person she'd be giving in. Pride wouldn't let her. However not giving in left her in conflict with her sphere, and continued her self destruction.
This was perhaps the first fight she had truly fought sense becoming a senshi. Bell vs. Bellatrix.

Note for me; the to-do list development-wise.

Defiance; Bell continues to pridefully deny any part of becoming what she needs to become.

Moar ruthless Rage-induced fights; Get Bell more battle-experience, maybe actually have her kill someone (disposable npc of course!)

Emotional backlash from said killing. OMG, I ttly killed someone, and even though they were a bad guy, WHAAAAAAH~ T^T This will bring her in touch with the "mourn even those that fall by your hand" bit, and start her on the side of a more quietly emotional/compassionate journey.

MOAR INTROSPECTION - Bell realizes that despite all her resistance she is failing and becoming what she was trying not to become anyway.

THE FINAL COME TO JESUS WHERE SHE GOES ETERNAL AND IS FINALLY ONE WITH HER SPHERE.

Compassion for Evil
Solo RP

The dreams didn't resume until later that night, offering Bell a little reprieve. However, she knew them when they started. She became more aware.

The landscape around here turned to ruin. Skulls and just plain corpses littered the area around her. There was Bell, pristine and untouched in a silken gown, and then there was Bellatrix, war torn, spear in hand, an unreadable but warm expression on her face.

Bellatrix spoke;
"Facades of ego may need to crumble in order for someone to be reborn as her true self."

The voice was soft. Gentle. Understanding. Nothing like her exterior. One immediately got a sense of wisdom and compassion from the Amazon.

"Bell," the name was spoken affectionately, "Like you I often wondered how I could fight for the good of everyone, evil and non-evil alike. The concept of 'evil' creates a divisive view of life- either we are evil, or we are not. We use that label to demonize people, to project our shadows onto others. We say; 'We are the good people, and they are the evil ones.' We often somehow see the fault in conflicts as being totally someone else's fault; few of us acknowledge our own responsibility. There are instances that are one-sided, but most aren't entirely, at least. With such pervasive ego defenses, it is hard for us to move forward."

It was a plea, from Bellatrix, for Bell to open her eyes. Bell remained silent, staring down her other self. She didn't want any part of this. She had never wanted to be a part of this. She didn't want to make changes, or open her eyes.

"We are all eternal souls, part of the same grand experiment in expanding love's understanding of itself. The way to defend society in its entirety is not by believing in its innate goodness or evil, but by not judging it. Being nonjudgmental isn't saying that harmful behavior is okay; it's holding compassion for all parties involved, so that we can help find true solutions and bring darkness to light"

Bell turned a fierce glance to Bellatrix, speaking for the first time now;
"How am I supposed to hold compassion for evil? How can I not do something as human as to judge someone?"

"It's refusing to see others as less than human or to subscribe to the illusion that we're separate from each other. It's recognizing that most of us believe that we're in the right most of the time, even if we're misguided, but we need to find common ground and a respectful way to resolve disputes if humanity is to survive." Bellatrix replied calmly. The Amazon was truly the master of her emotions. Bell, on the other hand, was mastered by hers. "It is sometimes necessary to take strong action to stop evil from harming others, such as war. However, even that can be done with compassion. Harming no more than is necessary to contain aggression."

Bell couldn't help but to not want to hear any of it. She was stubborn. Resistant. She had dug her heels in. Still, later on she would mull the words over. Maybe not tomorrow, or the day after that. But some day. Someday she would recall, and understand.
