A Wandering Esper

Beloved Stargazer

Sailor Themis had assisted the meeting, though most of it kind of went right above his poor little clueless head. He'd stood as tall and... normal-like as he could when Europa had gone forward and gestured toward them, just in case anyone had looked, but he had spent much of that meeting alternating in between looking confused and looking like a lost puppy in the middle of the rest of his team that had apparently decided that circling around the wounded member had been the way to go.

He could agree with what of what had been said, but... what the hell did he know ? What was he supposed to say ? Nothing, that was. And so he's said nothing.

But now, he was Xavier again and Bellatrix was Bell again, and they left semi-swiftly. "...I don't feel like going home tonight." He sighed. "Can I bum your spare bed ?"

Tempo had her water fountain and he'd fed her before leaving, so she'd be fine. He knew that if he was home alone right now, he'd just keep on wallowing in his own misery.

He'd probably even do that with company anyway.

Try as she might to resist the tutelage of her subconscious, Bell was playing directly into her other self's hands - her patrols were bolder. Bell actually looked for a fight now, where as used to she dreaded it. Bell had been fighting through her issues with about equal amounts of getting her a** kicked, and kicking a**. Exactly what Bellatrix wanted. This change, Bell would not admit to. Of all the times for youthful rebellion, this was perhaps not the best time. However, such was life. Life didn't always spring its traps at the opportune time.

They both seemed to be having their issues - things that it was up to themselves to work out. Misery, however, loved company. She didn't ask Xavier why he didn't feel like going home. She didn't feel like being entirely alone either. She just nodded.
"Any time you want."

"We could get pizza on the way ?" his dad had given him some money, so he could afford some pizza, at least. His manager still refused to let him work on a broken arm It really was bullshit.

He didn't feel like eating there, no, just grap some pizza to avoid the hassle of cooking and then zip right...

Well, right home, in a way.

"Works for me," Bell said.

That meeting earlier had been a headache. Too much too fast, even for someone who had been a senshi for as long as her. She wasn't sure what to think of some of the information. It was very draining. Nothing like the Basterd meetings. Perhaps it had to do with the size of the group, but that didn't make much sense - Bell had been in large casts before. These large senshi meetings always seemed to be chaotic, though.. Maybe it had to do with some of the people. Bell had definitely experienced an immediate distaste for one Sailor Rosalind. The Basterd meetings at least to hold some respect for one another.

Chaotic had been right, especially for someone who had been a senshi for a month. One might as well have thrown his brain into a blender, the effect would have been pretty similar.

Thankfully, it had been pizza and then straight to Bell's place, which was just how he'd wanted it. It took him a moment to work himself out of his jacket, and then he all but flopped into the nearest chair.

For a moment, he seemed more intent at staring at his pizza rather than eating it, though.

Some might have asked first, 'Is something wrong?' Others still would have asked 'What is wrong?' Bell simply leaned over a little behind where Xavier sat and draped her arms over his shoulders in a lose hug and rested her cheek on the top of his head.
"I'm not sure, really, what to say." Because so much was either better left unsaid, or cliche. Some was simply understood without a word being spoken.

"It's... It's okay." Nonetheless, he found himself leaning into her touch, her warmth. She was right here, right now, and for the moment... For the moment, it was all that truly mattered.

It was all that he wanted to have matter.

When he didn't have his pen, he'd missed it - now that he had his pen again, he wasn't sure if he wanted it. He hadn't... felt so undecisive, so unstable, for such a long time. He'd thought that he had been over that. Over all this.

But a craigcat did not change its spots overnight.

In a way, he wanted all of this to go away. All of this whole business, beside one little thing. One had to be careful what they were asking for - if he had never been a senshi, if he'd never gotten his arm broken... would he still have Bell ?

Questions, indeed.

"I just..." He sighed. "I don't know. I just don't know."

She could say, 'you're new, it's okay to have doubts early on in the game,' but that would be her opinion. After tonight it was obvious that others wouldn't agree. Bell often wondered where people's compassion went. That reminded her though of Bellatrix's words, and 'compassion for evil.' Hypocritical? Maybe. Complex? Diffidently.

"Do what you need to do. I won't question one bit of it. And if anyone does say one word about it they'd better take it up with me. It's easy for them-" The other senshi- "to say what needs to happen, what we need to do, or how we ought to act. But how many of them have ever served in a real war? How many of them were in the army, air force, navy, or whatnot before this? We are not experienced in war. And you can pretty much spin any theory to sound good."

Bell sighed, "Not that I'm one to talk...." and with that, she took a seat in the chair beside him. "My worldly experience is....next to nil."

"I don't know all these things either." He'd never served in an army. He'd never fought a war. Not so long ago, he'd been nothing but a normal teenager with normal worries. Many had been living this reality for a year - but the same could not be said for him.

"I tried to get that damn crystal." It came out before he could even think about it - so much for trying to keep that fact from her, hm ? "I tried. I swear I ******** tried. I lasted ten seconds, Bell." He had been the first to fly out of that ring. The first.

"And because I... because I.... We ******** lost it again. Why am I even doing this ?" He asked her. "There's so many others who know how to do this s**t. Can't I just turn that pen back for a refund ?" He muttered. "She can find another Themis. Can't do much worse than how im doing right now."
PostPosted: Mon Nov 22, 2010 2:02 pm

"You are not the reason why our side failed to get that crystal, or the first." Bell said matter-of-factly. "You might have been the first to go, but there were others who also failed. Imagine how those who got to the last round felt - all that effort, wasted. Left beaten, bruised, and hurting with nothing to show for it." Bell would have hated that. And her house couldn't take another rage cleaning.

"I'm confident that you'll learn. It takes time. You have to choose your own battles when you can. There will be failures, and losses, but each is something to learn from. To spur you on to do better next time. It all depends on how you let what happens effect you." There was a sad smile, "But again,...all good words in theory. Even I find it hard to apply."

Bell's own confidence in her abilities had been growing over the last few patrols she'd been on. She was learning, but it had taken a few good beatings that had left her less than happy at the time.

Easy words to say, of course. But could he blame her for it ? No, of course he couldn't.

He'd been the one that had said that it was easy to speak, and much less easy to do. It was a reality of all things - not just being a senshi. It was a reality of being alive.

It took him a moment for him to formulate what he had to say next, to push away his self-doubt and his pain to formulate was actually was the core of the problem. The reason why each failure stung more than the last, the reason why each and every one of them felt like sandpaper being dragged inside an open wound.

"Im just afraid... that we might not have that kind of time. What if by that time... We've already lost ?"
PostPosted: Mon Nov 22, 2010 3:31 pm

Bell once wondered if they were really the right side. The Negaverse's methods were horrible, yes, but did they really know what the Negaverse hoped to accomplish? They'd never had the chance to choose sides. What did the Negaverse believe? The Negaverse was strong, both in battle and in their will to achieve their goal...whatever that was. But who was to say that goal was evil? Simply because she happened to be a Senshi, and they happened to be Negaverse?

It had been a rather crippling dilemma. It had been to Bell what this battle with the concept of time was to Xavier.

Bell couldn't remember what had prompted her to embrace her senshi-dom. Maybe it was the incident with Tisiphone and Serandite, maybe it was something else. She knew though, that the answer to their battle depended on them self. The answer was individual. There was no magical cover-all answer.

"I guess we just have to make the most of the time we are given, and accept in the end that, win or lose, we've done out best. Given our all. Without any regrets."

"I guess that's all there is to it."

And it was. It was really all there was to it, wasn't it ? He couldn't argue against that. It was odd how it took only a few words to snap something right into perspective, odd how her voice seemed to make it all make sense. This was a war, and they could do nothing else but their best.

He could give up now. He really could have, thrown his pen at ********* the next time he saw her, and ran away. There was nothing to stop him but himself. He could run. Or he could rise and fight. He could do his best, give it his all. He could be a bright, shining light in a dark coat. He could fight for what he believed in. He could fight for what he believed was right. They might not win, it was impossible to say. But he could fight, as the side of those he loved.

Even if he ran away, it wouldn't make it all go away. Die running or die fighting - at that moment, he knew exactly what he wanted to do. It was too late to do anything now - he was in this ride, for good or for ill.

He hadn't been there a year ago, chasing after a princess he wasn't sure had even existed. Maybe it made his current thinking easier. Maybe it was borderline traitorous - but he didn't need that princess. No, he had his own princess, his own bright light cutting through the darkness.

Her name was Bell. Her name was Bellatrix.

"No, you're right." He finally said. "I need to arrange for Taranis and Europa connected. To help build that database. She'll be all over that. Taranis' been training me, I can... I can make it happen."

The pizza was growing increasingly cold, but he didn't seem to notice.
PostPosted: Mon Nov 22, 2010 4:17 pm

Bell nodded with a smile, "That'd be great. And a wonderful help to so many." She was sincere. The real battle wasn't always won with fighting, but with intelligence, organization. The senshi didn't have a lot of organization or information. The database might level the playing field. Or it very well could give them an edge. Who knew?

She believed in Xavier. Believed in Themis. She believed he could succeed in whatever he endeavored to do, even when he didn't believe it himself. And she wanted to be there to try and pick him back up again when he was down on himself. But she knew such dependence was not good. Maybe one day they'd both learn to pick themselves up, assured by the thought that, if nothing else, they had each other. Even if the world became their enemy.
There was no rhyme or reason for such dedication. And there was no sense in questioning it. Some things just are.

The pizza, was indeed growing cold. But hey, cold pizza was supposedly better for you than warm, greasy, hot pizza, right?

This was something he'd learn, that not all battles were won by fighting. In time, all in time. He had a somewhat logical mind, able to follow trains of thoughts easily.

Well.. most days, at least.

"I wonder." He finally seemed to remember the pizza, and paused to take a bite. If there was anything Bell knew, it was that when her bottomless pit recovered his appetite, it was a good sign. "What kind of coding this could be built on ? What kind of OS the phones run on ?" Bell probably didn't know any of that, but Xavier was rambling. Maybe it wasn't about code, but all ~*magic*~.

Hm.

Next thing they knew, there was no pizza left in his dish. Maybe that had also been magic too. Maybe not really.

"One thing's for sure, though, we need a plan." Did that mean he needed to start egging the negaverse agents on for information ? He'd... never been very good at egging people on. Whoooops.
