Oh God. I'm glad none of us act like that. I've known almost everyone in my grade since elementary school (I'm a freshman) and as far as I know, none of us act like that except for this one girl I'm sort of friends with who has to put her two cents into every other person's instructions.
I'm trying to be a good little freshie and behave. I suck at running and end up walking part of the lap, but it's not because I'm not trying. I listen to orders. I ask my section leaders for advice (I'm really glad our section leaders are nice.) I think I'm doing an ok job so far. It's not that far into our season.

Oh my jeeze... Don't get me started on annoying freshmen... Gosh...
Last summer, and all throughout the year, we had this kid who won't do anything unless you "say please?" It's so annoying. During our last parade, I was center guide, so I had to tell him to guide constantly. He didn't try during marching season very much, so he had horrible guiding, horrible horn angle, and horrible forms of attention (attention, parade rest, etc.). I had told him to keep his horn up, and guide up, and he had the cajones to tell me to "say please", which is kinda hard when you're watching eight people on both sides of you, keeping distance, and playing, ya know? So one of the seniors at the time, was like "Jake, do what she says NOW!" It was so cool. I was like "dayumn... Thanks..." And the kid did it. I hope he shapes up this year... I really do... Gosh...
Also, we've had a pre-band camp thing, where the upperclassmen and the freshmen all come and meet eachother, eat dinner together, and do a quick run through of all the music for next fall. Both of my section leaders weren't there, so my BD put me in charge, and we had two new freshies, three sophomores, no juniors, and two seniors (oh god, I'm old!). Everyone except me kept talking and I felt horrible and like I couldn't keep control of my section. I was disappointed in the other senior for not leading by example. I really hope band camp for real isn't as catastrophic... I think I'll cry...

I'm a freshmen and I soooo know what you mean. I am not one of thouse girls, I ask the older players if I'm wrong or not, but I do occastionally point something out to the boys and me and the sophmore are right. I don't want to be a pushy girl, but i like to know how to play correctly. a lot of my band are freshmen, only have three ppl gradutate from us this year. We are really layed back and really don't have a problem with know it alls, but outside the band is another story. Our band is just a big loving family........

Some of those brats just drive me crazy. Looking back, I know I wasn't the best of freshmen, but I certainly wasn't the worst. Some fish hang in their little groups and act like they're so "cool."
I swear, they believe that suburban high school life is just like the movie "Mean Girls." So not.

Eh, I am a freshman >.< But, Naw, i am not cocky. I know everyone in band... only due to my older brothers. But, I dont even think i am like, that amazing to go around and act cocky to seniors and such...

just want to punch them in the face. It is acceptable in college though, everyone has had plenty of experience by then.

Mine arent that bad.
Us first seats have to go to the middle and jr high schools and tutor the younger kids so it isnt so horrible with them... when your as scary as i am >: D
