I don't know if anyone is into ordering online but I am addicted to Etsy and i get a lot of my natural-care products from there. I also don't know how much cost is an issue.
There are 3 deodorants that I alternate between (I like choices!) Two are vegetable protein deodorants. In which enzymes transform your "stank" into a salt. All 3 work for me really well (although I am not the stinkiest person ever). They are natural and aluminum-free and are awesome if you want natural deodorants in fun girly scents. All 3 companies offer a pretty awesome scent-range! They aren't antiperspirant so you will still sweat (totally natural) - you just won't stink! Now, if you are the kind of gal who needs prescription-grade deodorants this probably won't work for you, but then again if you're in the need of some really strong deodorant, natural at all might not work for you! LOL.
The first one I use is the Vegetable Protein Deodorant in the scent Candy Floss (An awesome bubble-gum cotton-candy scent!) This comes in a regular deodorant tube and runs about $7 with a $2.50 shipping fee from the Etsy seller: morganstreet
The second one I use is the Vegetable Protein Deodrant in the sent Hunneysuckle (An awesome floral). This comes in a regular deodorant tube as well and runs a tad more expensive at $8.50 with a $3.25 shipping fee from Etsy seller: bunnybuttapothecary
The last one I use is from the brand Salubritas (if you google it, you can find the website). This one is the most different as it is a deodorant balm and instead of coming in a tube it comes in a tin. I have a sample size of mine, you can order it in a sample size or in the full size. I don't remember how much the sample-size costs, just a few bucks & the full-size runs around $9 but it is a lot of product. The scent I have is Pina Colada and it is definitely the most "natural" smelling. It isn't an artificial Pina Colada fragrance. To apply this one, you scrape out a small amount with the top of your finger-nail, rub it between your hands and then rub it under your pits. This one is a thicker (less slick, less gel) like consistency than the other two but they all last about the same time (for me).
I personally really like all 3. I use the 2 from Etsy on an everyday basis & the Salubritas balm I tend to use more when I am out camping or backpacking (it's more convenient to carry around, as it comes in a little tin - so for me, it's better for travel & I don't have to worry as much about it melting in my pack!)
Also, if anyone prefers products without fragrance or if you have sensitivities or allergies to fragrance these might not be for you. You might have to just stick to some unscented Tom's or your home-made concoctions. I am just a girly-girly who likes natural / healthy / eco-friendly products & finding really healthy deodorants with girly fun scents is a total plus for me!

I use Mitchum unscented roll-on, it gets rid of the stank and lasts a long time. But that salt crystal stuff sounds interesting...
