Yesterday
I was the one
With the yellow balloon
Talking with the stars
I melted into air
Eyes
Teeth
Tongue
Nose
Nose?!
Gross!
Scent is so obscene
More personal than nakedness
We will strip our selves
And guess
What is left?
Just that big
Yawning
Nostril
Like a cavern
Where
Things live
Where
Breath rushes in
Where
I fall
Now
Climbing,
Climbing upward
To the light of what I do not know

Found myself today,
Finger in nose
Finger in myself
Like a rape
Finger,
Nose.
If someone picked your
Nose without
Your consent
Would you scream
"DEFILEMENT!"?

But no, no one can
Talk of the nose
Talk of this place
More secret than toes
And how this arose
Is a matter of speaking
I cannot suppose
That it was intentional.

They say "do not speak"
And we do
"haha, p***s"
Haha, indeed.
But no one cares
When you rub
Your nose.
It's not a perversion
As far as I've heard.
Although it would be
Absurd to have
Chastity
Be the basis of
Your nostril hygeine.

How often has the part
That sticks out at the
Start of your life
Been ignored?
In magazine clippings,
The surveys scream
"I love blue eyes!"
But what of the nose?
The curve of it,
The shape, skin stretched tight over cartolage...
The taste of it, soft and yielding like babyflesh
How funny it can be, with a red clownish bump
(or a few, we aren't often told to take care of the nose)
Or secretive, with camoflage spots.
How many people have been shot in the nose?
Not many.
Perhaps Prince William
But then,
He despises camoflage (doesn't go with the shirt).

What is a person without a nose?
(couldn't stop to smell a rose or roses)
What would you do without noses?
And is it a plural or could it be more of a quadrupal?
And how many smells does yellow have?
That newly washed plastic smell
Rubber duck in the bubblebath smell
Fluffy new towel smell
Bannana gone too ripe.
Could you measure how yellow smells?
You are a skull without humor
The nose smiles, and the world ignores it
But when the nose disappears,
Why is it so missed?
Like a bedraggled housewife,
Unappreciated
Until it doesn't do it's job
(and then it's less appreciated).

Love your nose!
Without it, you would be
Without
Anything to distinguish
Cauliflour from
Candy corn
You would mourn the death of the nose.

A huge effigy dedicated
A huge funeral pyre
To burn it to the sky
And that smell
O! The burning!
And you could only cry
For sniffing is out
Without the nose.

I wrote this orignally just to get some of my feeling out on paper and to relate a expirence of mine to a friend. Then it went in my journal. Now I put it here please tell me what you think.

Me and my momma
Im gonna tell the world a personal story here. It's about me and my momma. Back in the day my momma was a crank addict. One night when my momma came home she was gone. Not gone in the physcial sense but gone in the head. She was so high that she just didn't register the world around here. My grandma bless her soul had led her back home like a small child from whatever crackhouse she had been at. I rushed up to her crying "Momma Momma" and I hugged her but when I looked up into her eyes she wasn't there no love nothing. Sometimes I wish she had looked at me with hate then because hate would of been easier to deal with then that. If she had hated me I could of hated her back. But no she looked at me with no emotion and It broke my heart. I couldn't hate her she loved me she was my momma but at that moment she was just another addict. So I walked away dejectedly and then I looked over at the coffe table and there was a bowl of Sweethearts cause it was right after Valentines day. In my childs mind a idea sparked. I went over to the bowl and fished out a little candy heart that said "I love u" I went over to my momma and put in in her hand. Somehow some way this little action of love broke through to her cause she raised hand looked at it and for some reason her eye's cleared then started to tear. then she reached down hugged me told me she loved me. For that night she was my momma again if only for that one night. The next day she was back to being the addict. But it felt good to know that for that one night my momma loved me.

But moving on, I thought the poem was interesting, and quirky. I've never quite looked at noses that way before. Guess sometimes you have to see the world from different perspectives.

And oh yes, since I lack scanner action, I commissioned someone to draw a picture of my beloved and me.
