"Not if you fall first, which I'm sure you will!"
Batsu clenched his teeth together and kicked his speed up another notch and ran past his friend once again. "I refuse to lose to you Shinzu! Speed is my thing and without it I'm nothing. So losing to you would make all my training become worthless, making me worthless. I CAN'T let that happen, friend or not!"

Shinzu really wasn't paying too much attention to Batsu as he caught up to him, and tried to pull on ahead. For that matter he wasn't really paying attention to the ground in front of him. Instead he was solely focused on the finish line they were inching closer to every day. He never saw the slightly off kilter stone step, until his foot caught it, and his face became very close acquaintances with the other steps. "Owww!" He groaned, as he slowly got up, and shook his head.

As Batsu continued to run, he kept his eyes locked on Shinzu. But just as the other was making his move towards regaining the lead, he got tripped up and made a tumble to the ground. All the while, Batsu saw this and he couldn't help but smile. "See ya at the finish line!" Batsu said as he ran ahead of Shinzu... again. Finally, the medic had a little more breathing room to run. Granted, Shinzu still wasn't that far behind. At this point, though, something was better than nothing. After all, the final stretch was within view and he was inching closer and closer to it.

Shinzu groaned slightly as got up and rubbed his face, particularly his slightly bleeding nose. It sure wasn't going to be easy to catch up or beat Batsu now, and he was positive that the medic-nin wouldn't stop to allow him to catch up again. So, with a grunt, he did as he had done before, he put his head, and his best foot forward. Even if he didn't win, which was a very distant possibility at this point, he would finish the race!

Shinzu had slipped even further behind and that was just fine by Batsu. It pretty much guaranteed the win unless something drastic happened to speed Shinzu up or slow Batsu down. Neither sounded possible at this stage in the game soBatsu's confidence grew tenfold... at LEAST. The boy didn't even bother to look back. Victory was within reach and nothing was going tostop him, not even his friend Shinzu. However, he knew that this was not the end of the training rivalry. More was soon to come and most definitely some would be in areas that Batsu was unskilled in. But for now, a win was a win and he wanted to bask in the glory for now.

Shinzu couldn't help but be amazed as Batsu pulled ever further, and further ahead of him. He made mental note to never play to the medic-nins strengths again, he would undoubtedly lose in the end. Regardless he would finish either way, he was already so close as it was, and he had never been one to throw in towel just because he had lost. After all, he would never have gotten anywhere in his team if he had! So, he kept his leg muscles pumping, moving his body forward.

The more Batsu ran, the further Shinzu seemed to fall behind. Eventually Batsu looked over his shoulder to see where his training partner was. To his shock... and delight, Shinzu was a great length away, further cementing the win. But then again, this was his area of expertise... even though, for a second, Batsu was a bit unsure as to whether he'd win or not. Shinzu was a force to be reckoned with and damn near got him towards the end. But a few mishaps on his part was all it took to give Batsu the edge. With Batsu being the way he was, he took that opportunity and made his way through to the home stretch and to the starting point of the race, winning the whole shabang.

(DC = 50 for XP)

(4 + 40 = 44 FAIL) Batsu slowed to a stop after he finished the race. The medical ninja was slightly out of breath after such a long run but it was all worth it. After all, he did win the darn thing. Nevertheless, he waited for Shinzu to finish and he needed something to do in the meantime. So he took a seat and began to work a little on his chakra. There was a technique that he had been meaning to learn for sometime so now was as good a time as any to get started on it. Batsu got ready to start but needed to rest for a while before he truly began his training.

(6 + 40 = 46 FAIL) Batsu continued to try and catch his breath as he sat in the middle of the road and waited on Shinzu to come through. The male was still a great distance away so he had plenty of time to finish the jutsu, that is, if he could catch his breath first. His breathing had slowed down just a little, but it was still a bit much in order for him to start training effectively. Batsu leaned over just a little bit and focused on getting his breathing right before proceeding on towards doing anything else. While he was a great runner, running long distances was never his thing and doing just that was proving to be a bit much for the male.

((10 + 40 = 50 PASS)) Batsu continued to lean over, up until the point that Batsu regained being able to breathe at a normal rate. Batsu sat back upright and rub his hands together before he started to form chakra in his hands. The boy made sure to not convert his chakra into that of his affinity, lightning. The medic continued onward as he kept forcing pure energy into his hand. The male looked down towards his palm as he noticethe chakra started to take shape in the form of a round ball. The more he kept going, the more he saw a swirling motion around the ball. The technique was working perfectly and he couldn't help but smile

(14 + 40 = 54 PASS) The pure chakra continued to swirl in Batsu's hand as continued to mold it. As he did so, he looked off in the distance to see where Shinzu was. It seemed like the male was in the same spot that he was in when he first finished. No matter, at least HE was finished and was working on a new jutsu. Batsu looked back at his hand to see what he was looking like. He was still in good shape, so at least he was able to still focus on what he needed to do while still having his mind elsewhere.

(17+40 = 57 PASS) Batsu eventually began to close his eyes as he continued to pump chakra into his hand. The male was actually decent when it came to controlling his own chakra so this all began to become a bit boring to him. Then again, learning new jutsu had the tendency to bore him after a while. It always started off fun until about the halfway point. Then he'd get bored until the next level or until he was finished. That's exactly what happened at this point.. But at least this jutsu was fairly useful to the medic.

(11 + 40 = 51 PASS) The chakra continued to swirl around and around in the palm of Batsu's hand. Meanwhile, Batsu stayed there with his eyes still closed as he maintained the flow of chakra. Eventually his eyes opened up and he looked towards the street to see where his friend, Shinzu was. The poor guy was STILL where he was and it even looked like he stopped moving altogether. Batsu eventually yelled out to the ninja. "Hey slowpoke, I'm hungry! Hurry up so we can go!" The boy wasn't exactly hungry, but he had intended to put some fire under Shinzu to get him moving.

(13 + 40 = 53 PASS) After sort of taunting Shinzu, Batsu closed his eyes and went back to traiing again. The boy eventually got tired of sitting and used his free had to prop himself a bit to get back up. Once propped, Batsu quickly hopped up on to his feet and he stood straight up.The male then looked at his occupied hand to make sure everything was still intact as far as his chakra was concerned. It was, so he could rest easy. After all, he knew that he would need to leave soon to find someone to help him with the second part of this jutsu.

(16 + 40 = 56 PASS) Batsu was now on his own two feet. The boy then thought it best to walk around the village in order for him to not get TERRIBLY bored. With Shinzu still behind him, Batsu put one foot in front of the other and began traveling the route that Shinzu set for the race. All the while, he was keeping his chakra up in his hand. The male kept walking and decided that it was best for him to go to the hospital. There was sure to be a few shinobi that that would be in need of some chakra after doing whatever it was that they were doing before it landed them in the hospital in the first place.

(2 + 40 = 42 FAIL)

Batsu continued to pump his own chakra into his hand absent-mindedly. The boy was getting bored and wanted to move on to the next phase. But until he mastered this portion of the jutsu, he was stuck. The boy continued to focus on this portion of the technique though but felt as though something was wrong when he started to pay attention to himself again. Batsu looked down at his hand to notice that his hand was now expelling lightning chakra. The boy lost focus and ended up converting his chakra into the kind he didn't want nor need for this exercise. Batsu frowned in disappointment and shut the flow of chakra off altogether.

(10 + 40 = 50 PASS)

Batsu had tainted his chakra flow and eventually cut the flow off to his hand. After feeling like he was ready to go again, the boy restarted the training and went back to pumping pure chakra into his hand again. The boy looked at the swirling mass and started to concentrate, but not on the technique. Looking at his own chakra made him realize that he needed to get back to working on working on building his chakra strength altogether. For crying out loud, he was a medic and it was imperative to work on that in order for his comrades to get the help they needed in dire times.

(6 + 40 = 46 FAIL)

Batsu, once again, lost his train of thought and somehow ended up convert his chakra back to lightning energy. By the time the male relized this, his entire hand was engulfed in lighning and he was forced to shutting the flow of chakra again. As he did so, he looked to see where Shinzu was. Lo and behold, te guy was almost in the same exact spot as before. Batsu's impatience had started to get to him at this point and he made it up in his mind that he was gonna finish the jutsu off at the hospital... maybe even work on some jutsus that he never got around to finishing way back when.

Batsu reset the chakra flow to his hand and his pure chakra shined through yet again. Good, becuase him doing this was getting a bit boring since he had no one there to do this with. Such was the nature of being a medic. Outside of Mayumi-san, there were no other medics in the village other than himself. In instances of training, it was a big hindrance but the demand for medical help was great which meant he could do more to help out... which is why he knew he needed to get back in the mode of training more often than the norm. After he finished his last rep of the chakra forming, Batsu shut his chakra off and he stood to his feet and headed off towards the hospital to finish the jutsu off as well as get back to work on other things.

[EXIT to Kirigakure Hospital]

"Yeah sure!" he bent down to give a handful of coins to a man that was sitting by the edge of an dirty alleyway. Masanori did usually give a few coins to anyone that desprately needed some. The pay that was given to the members of Kirigakure's ANBU squad, were a pay that you didn't argue with and having a few desperate people on your side, like the homeless, were something that would only be to his benefit. He gave a smile to the rugged man, surronded in blankets and a quick wave before walking away with his hands in his pockets.

"Hmm.. If I were the kage, I wouldn't allow anyone to sit in the streets doing nothing. Drunks like him could also contribute to my cause, I am sure of it! Hmm.. It would be splendid if I could learn a jutsu to get rid of his behavioural patterns such as alcoholism and apathy. Then he could become somewhat of a decent guard at important locations, so if the location would be attacked his death would certainly slow the intruders down before the shinobi's arrive" He nodded in agreement to his thoughts. Masanori constantly thought of ways to improve the situations he saw before him. He was of kage material, that he knew. He just needed the strength to prove it to his fellow shinobis.

His gaze wonderd around the village. The constant mist that surronded their home was something that he usually let his hands dance around in as he walked, creating tiny ripples and waves in the water particles. It was a calm day on the streets and not alot of people were walking where he was. It was more quiet than it used to be. His gaze wonderd across the people's faces. As he read them, there were a vast majority of faces, with determination mixed with fear - in them. Understandable since that what's life was - a constant strive to accomplish or get the things you wanted, while being scared of getting hurt or failing. He sighed. The non-shinobis was a boring bunch. The security of being a powerful shinobi opend up many more dimensions of life, even being a genin-leveld shinobi, makes you stronger than most people. "It will be fun to rule" he thought to himself with his hands behind his head and his head directed upwards, with a content smile and shut eyes.

He felt happy with his walk, and decided to refresh his body somewhat. He looked around and saw himself standing a block away from the housing-district. "Good, not far from the grove" he spoke outloud. He walked past his parent's window, since he wanted no contact with them whatsoever this day, he forced his head not to turn towards their window and kept on walking into the green grove of Kiri.
