Right. He can read my mind. Darn it. A blush tinged her cheeks as she pressed another kiss to his lips. Want to check under my bed for witches? That had to be her one fear. Witches. They always had been, ever since she was little, and it had turned into a joke some years ago.

"I'll give them a nice scare for you." He smiled at her as he turned the key that was still in the door and pushed it open, allowing her to enter her home first.

Shaylene padded down the hall, her shoes coming off shortly after she'd entered through the doorway. A hook beside another closed door soon held her red cloak and then Shaylene paused, looking over her shoulder. Please take your shoes off. I hate having to clean dirt off the hardwood.

V took his shoes off left with only his socks. He followed her in, setting his shoes next to hers, neatly side by side.

Shaylene pushed open a faded red door and stepped into her room. The black shag carpet was soft under her bare feet as she stood just inside the doorway, making room for Vitae to enter. Welcome to my humble abode. There where still a few boxes stacked against the far wall that she hadn't gotten to unpacking yet, and her kitchen was a disaster area.

V slipped past her and walked in. "Nice boxes." He picked in good humor.

Oh thanks! You know, I thought the 'boxy decore' was all the new rave. Her voice drippped with sarcasm, but she smiled to show she was joking. Plopping down on her bed, Shaylene bent over and snagged the bottom of her blanket and lifted it up so Vitae could look under it.

V laughed shaking his head at how ridiculous he'd look, but he bent down and peeked under the bed. Then gave a distinct "Boo."

Shaylene gave a dramatic squeek and then laid on her stomach and looked under the bed also. Nothing but dust bunnies. She was feeling really hyper now, and blamed it on sleep deprivation.

V chuckled. "Well dust bunnies have their scary side too. Don't be fooled by their cutsy name." He joked. He leaned back on his haunches looking at Shaylene on her stomach feet kicking as she looked underneath the bed.

Yes. She let the blanket drop back to where it would rest on the ground and then propped her chin in her palm. You remember the last time we played together before your father decided we couldn't be friends? Her vocie held a trace of nastolgia as she spoke, and her blue eyes fastened on a box directly across from her.

He nodded. He still regretted having listened to his father. Shaylene had been someone who had understood him, even if they were different. "Yeah. I remember."

Wonder what he'd say now? Her lips quirked into a wry smile and Shaylene ran a hand through her hair.

"Oh I could tell you. 'What the hell are you doing, boy! Don't you know your a vampire. Vampires don't associate with the likes of that girl.'" He'd used the best impression of his father, but even though he wasn't there it caused a flashback of what his father had said when they werre younger.

'She'll never be more than an orphaned dirty dog-lover.' Shaylene added as she pulled off her gloves and tossed them onto a desk cluttered with books and papers. Unpacking all her belongings was taking forever.
