Batsu was ahead, thus leaving Shinzu behind. Good. Though the race was friendly, now, Batsu still did not want to lose. The boy faced forward again and increased his speed just slightly. Even so, the medical ninja was increasing the distance between him and his rival The male was enjoying the wind against him as he ran and he couldn't help himself. Batsu took his hand and combed through his ponytail. Doing so caused the band holding his hair to come off around his finger. The boy's white, long hair began to flow in the breeze, It had been a while since he had done this, but there was one more thing that Batsu needed to do before he could achieve maximum happiness... he had to go full speed in order for his hair to achieve maximum lift.

Batsu's hair wasn't as high as it was in the breeze since he wasn't going as fast as he normally did. Of course, his hair was always kept in a ponytail so that played a factor... but still. The boy sped up and in doing so, it made his hair fly a little high and dance n the wind. Now, Batsu was happy. The breeze against his hair, the wind against his body as he ran, the stroll through the village. All of that made for an exciting venture and he was loving it. It even made him forget about Shinzu, who had fallen behind even more since Batsu had increased his speed just that much more.

Masaraku managed to swell up another wave at her feet, her chakra water feeling oddly warm through the leather of her boots. A sure sign that she was overexerting herself, or at least over-stressing herself. Whatever the case she realized at this point that it was in her best interest to just focus on her training and not the whole Shizu/Batsu fitting in situation. She eased the wave forward, exhaling slowly as the wave rolled into motion. She took it slower this time, focusing on control rather that speed as she glided on the water's surface through the alleyway. She began to roll back and forth over the width of the space, pushing off of the fence and coasting to the other side as the wave rose higher and higher until she was at the top of the fence, then the wave dissipated as she willed it to the ground. Now it was time to test speed. She took a deep breath in before getting ready for round two.

And as she exhaled and her chakra surged into her legs it spread out from her toes and created a surge of water. She leaned down and sprinted off down the alley. Unfortunately she made it about ten feet before her foot went through the wave and hit the ground. Then it began as a stumble, she began to trip, adjusted her balance and fell backwards. The water washed out beneath her and sank into the ground, dissipating as the chakra returned to her body.

Masaraku's eyes closed as she embraced the failure, but her Hoshigaki spirit told her to get up and try again. So she rolled her feet up, lifting her thighs and rolling them until her knees were at her chin. Then a quick pop as she swung them down and lifted her body, her momentum planting her feet on the ground as her fingertips landed in front of her feet to catch her. Then she stood up to her full height before crouching into her sprinting stance and taking off into a run. The water formed quickly around her, floating downward to form a platform for her to step on, which she then rode down the alleyway, spinning and dancing. She had finally found the right combination to keep the wave running smoothly. and now nothing could stop her. Time to move on to target practice.

Shinzu watched as Batsu pulled ahead, and felt himself falling behind him. He let out a spirited burst of air as he willed his legs to go faster, but it was all for naught, Batsu was simply too fast for him to catch up. Still it would be some time before they were finished with their training, even as this round began to wind down.

One thing Batsu forgot about in regards to letting his hair down while running. With his hair down, it makes running harder due to aerodynamics. The boy quickly tied his hair back up in a hairband and looked over his shoulder. He noticed that Shinzu was quite a long distance behind him and he then looked ahead. As Batsu neared the corner of the Fubuki Compound, he remembered the trick that Shinzu played on him in the first lap and made a note to not fall for something like that again. Shinzu was a crafty one, he'd give him that much.

Shinzu gritted his teeth together, the race was pretty much over, that much was true, but he was not going to give up on it. At the end of the day it wasn't about whether he won or lost though, it was about getting the training in. So he lowered his head and kept pressing forward, not quite catching up to Batsu, but easily pressing through their second lap. He may have been far behind, but he was going to finish, no matter what else may have happened.

With his long hair tied up, Batsu continued to run in pursuit of finishing first. As the boy turned the corner, he continued running at full speed and ran by some of the villagers... many of which he encountered on his first lap around Kiri. Nevertheless, Batsu trekked forward as he was nearing the halfway point. He didn't bother to look back since he knew he was far ahead of Shinzu. There was no way that he had made it around the corner yet.

Shinzu continued to make ground on Batsu, though it was certainly nowhere near the spectacular successes that Batsu had enjoyed during this training session. Still at this point he focused solely on just keeping his head down, and trying to move forward. He didn't even care anymore, all he wanted to do was finish, and to hell with the competition. Besides if he just focused on finishing, maybe later he could convince Batsu that their bet was off. Shinzu shook that aside quickly though, it'd never work.

As Batsu rounded the corner, the boy's feet got tangled up and he ended up falling on his side. He quickly scrambled to get back up but he ended up feeling a bit embarrassed about it all. Batsu was a nimble kid so falling was something quite unheard of when it came to the medic. Sure, he wasn't exactly perfect, but this was the first time he could remember falling. However, for Batsu falling wasn't the worst part in his mind. What made everything worse was when Batsu recovered, he could see Shinzu closing the gap. THAT was the worst part in his mind.

Shinzu's eyes widened his pure surprise as he came around a corner, finding himself right behind Batsu! It took the boy a moment to realize just what that meant, and indeed he really didn't do much of anything to speed up, or close the gap as he watched Batsu get back to his feet. Then it hit him, he was still in this, he still had a chance of winning this race! Feeling his heart begin to beat in his chest with excitement, Shinzu ran after Batsu, beginning to seriously close the gap.

Batsu glanced behind him and saw Shinzu inch even closer than before and he had no choice but to kick his speed up a bit more. He was not happy about the fact that his lead was all but gone. He didn't want to resort to his antics during the first lap so he just had to hold on to the hope of Shinzu falling while he himself kept going. Batsu continued going through towards the center of the housing district. Batsu then looked over his shoulder at Shinzu then faced forward and kept his pace as he ran to the halfway point of the village.

Shinzu kept moving his powerful legs after Batsu, still not quite catching up to the quicker medic-nin. Still he had never been one to give up on anything, even he lost in the end. So in this race he would go until the end, and then he would pay for Batsu's lunch, even though the medic-nin had been a colossal jerk in the beginning. Unlike the tricky snake Batsu had been, Shinzu would do the honorable thing and hold up his end of the deal they had made.

Batsu looked back over his shoulder at Shinzu, who was now right behind him. His frustration showed easily on his face as he began to turn red in the midst of gritting his teeth. "DAMMIT Shinzu! Why won't you just fall already?! I refuse to lo-" Just then Batsu ended up running into one of the passers-by and they both fell to the ground. Batsu got up rather quickly and dusted himself off but the elderly woman he ran into wasn't as nimble. So Batsu walked over to her and helped her up as best as he could. Once she was back on her feet, he scrambled to pick up her belongings and gave then back to her. "I'm so sorry about that! A thousand pardons!"

Shinzu almost didn't even notice as he caught up with Batsu, so focused he was on just finishing the race. Finally he looked up just as he caught up with the speedy ninja. "Finally trip over your own feet?" He asked with a smirk to Batsu. "It's about time you did though." He said as he stuck his tongue out, and passed slightly ahead of him.

Batsu looked at Shinzu with a disgusted look as he began running again. "Hey, shut up! All that matters right now is who finishes first... and that's gonna be ME!" Batsu put on a slight burst of speed and ran next to Shinzu for a second then started to pull ahead slightly. His competitive nature was evident, but he knew that resorting to attacking Shinzu would do nothing but cause more trouble. But one thing was for sure, Shinzu wasn't giving up. Then again, neither was he.

Shinzu grinned as he felt Batsu pass by him, looking out to watch the medic-nin pull slightly ahead of him. Still grinning he put his legs into overdrive, and quickly caught up to Batsu. "We'll see!" He yelled out with a laugh as he pulled ever so slightly ahead. "If you trip up one more time, I'll win for sure!" He said with another laugh. He smiled widely for the first time since Batsu had put him under the genjutsu.
