YOU HAVE MY SWORD/DAGGER - IN YOUR FACE.The mannequins foot came up, and stomped down on the patch of dirt Canon had occupied a split-second before. She rolled away, but wasn't given time to get to her feet. Again and again, its foot came down. Again and again she evaded being squashed like a bug. Finally, the mannequin cut off the path of Canon's rolling, and punched downward at her face. Canon sat up as quickly as she could, the fist just barely missing her, and thrust her dagger up. Directly into its face. The mannequin slumped to the ground, defeated. SWEET VICTORY! HP: 15 Damage Dealt: 3 Opponent's HP: 2-3= K.O. YOU HAVE MY DAGGER - IN YOUR FACE. Okay. She was ready.
Amrita held the dagger with the blade turned backwards as Shun had shown in Crafting. It seemed to work for her in the training, so in theory it should work here, too. The moment she was ready her mannequin came to life, crashing through the bush and foliage on a homed instinct to get to her and her fort. She still couldn't get used to it, the look of the training doll as it lumbered forward on it's borrowed life, all to attack and beat her down.
It crashed headlong into her fort, and the battle started in a rush of dirt, vines and stick fragments.

YOU HAVE MY DAGGER - IN YOUR FACE. In the mess of debris, Amrita couldn't get a target that she was willing to risk. No obvious chances came, but in her manuvering to find something she did dodge a strike from the mannequin. She didn't realize that it even attacked until she ducked to try and get a shot from below and felt the rush of air near her ear from the missed strike.
whoa, that was close!

This was what it had all lead to. This seemed to be their final test, and Whisper felt she was ready. She listened very carefully to the instructions, and repeated them over and over in her head. She really didn't want to disappoint Cybele. The ghoul really had a thing for trying to impress authority figures, and she figured it was because she was replacing her father with them. But none of that psycho babble mattered in this moment.
She took her position and started to dig her hole, forming the dirt skeleton for her base. There were plenty of wonderfully sharp rocks she laid on the ground in front, knowing they would be quite painful to step on. Next she sharpened some sticks and dug them into the face of the dirt mound. Her fort was shaping up to be quite the little defensive master piece. However, upon further inspection Whisper realized there was one small thing missing. She brought over a very thorny vine and wove it around the fort. Now it was perfect. She got behind it and waited for the mannequin.

YOU HAVE MY DAGGER - IN YOUR FACE. THERE - THERE WAS AN OPENING! Amrita saw it, and she shifted her weight to strike out at the doll, to try and damage it as it tried very hard to damage her. Her strike didn't land, but it did deflect the attack that the doll had tried to throw at her. So far she was trying to hold her ground, not wanting to give it up just yet; this was her space, she was going to defend it.

YOU HAVE MY DAGGER - IN YOUR FACE. This time when the mannequin lurched forward, Amrita was ready, already crouched. There were a few times where her backwards feet came in handy, and this was certainly one of them. She pushed forward on her toes, using her feet as a launch pad to duck the attack and to swipe her reversed blade across the creature's chest. From either the blow or the push from her own body weight the doll lost it's balance, stumbling a pace or two back.

YOU HAVE MY DAGGER - IN YOUR FACE. The mannequin wasn't the only one to get knocked back. The ghoul lost her footing moments after her last attack, and stumbled to the ground, catching herself on her hands and knees. There was no chance to dodge or recoil away from the impending attack, and the doll hit her square in the face, her head snapping to the side from the force of the blow.

YOU HAVE MY DAGGER - IN YOUR FACE. Her head snapped to the side but she was quicker than she used to be; she let momentum take her as it would and used it to her advantage, her knife coming up to slash against the dummy. By then the dummy had already recovered and was in the process of attacking her, hitting her arm as she attacked.

As they were led into the trees again, Deacon sincerely hoped that it wasn't going to be another session of running for their lives as they tried to defend themselves. Even with a real weapon in his hand, he didn't want to revisit that lesson. So, when Cybele went on to explain their task for the day, he was a bit relieved that he wasn't going to be getting lost in the forest today. Although, he really didn't much care for the idea of digging in the dirt like a dog, either...
Oh well, it could have been worse. It can always be worse.
Once given the go-ahead, Deacon selected a spot to himself to begin packing up a dirt wall of defense. He really just felt like a child playing in the dirt and had to keep mentally reminding himself that this was a real part of war, just on a smaller scale.
Once the mound of dirt was suitable enough, he believed, he briefly searched for a few other things to add on as he saw the other students doing. Well, there were sticks everywhere, so might as well gather up a bunch of those to essentially create a dirt pincushion... He also found a few particularly pointed rocks to litter around at the base. Rocks had served him well the day before, perhaps they'd be good today too.

YOU HAVE MY DAGGER - IN YOUR FACE. "Get BACK!" She found herself saying in frustration, ducking the attack and punching the training doll away with the hand that held the dagger rather than stabbing it. Somehow, punching it made her feel better, however less effective it was in the end.

YOU HAVE MY DAGGER - IN YOUR FACE. The doll was relentless, and she was getting frustrated. Frustrated and sloppy. Her grip on the dagger slipped this time around, moments before the blow from the doll sent tremors of pain down her arm.

YOU HAVE MY DAGGER - IN YOUR FACE.It was rather disheartening, actually, to see how easy it was for the mannequins to utterly destroy the work in the first charge. At least they took a decent chunk of damage from it. Deacon waited at the ready with the dagger he had retrieved again, focused on one thing once given the chance... Cut.

YOU HAVE MY DAGGER - IN YOUR FACE. Frustrating. So very frustrating. It just wouldn't stay down! Nnnggh. Her dagger embedded in the doll's fist as it attacked; it still hit her, but she at least did some damage back to it.

SWEET VICTORY! YOU HAVE MY DAGGER - IN YOUR FACE. She tore the dagger from the Doll's makeshift fist, and as it took a swing at her she let it, feeling the pain in her side, including the crack of one of her ribs. Thankfully no pain would result in it, just some discomfort; but allowing it to hit her allowed her to do something she had wanted to do since she'd gotten fed up with it's attacking.
Amrita's dagger sank into the doll one more time, this time deep into it's chest, where it's heart would have been if it had one.
The mannequin dropped, leaving Amrita standing victorious.
