Gannon… User Image

One second, Gannon was laying back in the dive pod, the next he was standing on an alter. He looked around, but couldn't see anything past the stones. Suddenly, a voice from behind him caused him to turn. There, hiding behind one of the pillars, was Hikari. From the look of it, she was scared out of her mind. Slowly, he raised his hands to show he wasn't armed. "It's me, Gannon. Remember?" He had to remind himself that this version of Hikari might not know who he was. "I'm a friend. Your Vanguard."

"Gan...non?" Hikari stood there, studying him. His name sounded so familiar... She knew him! She took a step toward him, reaching out to him. Suddenly, she wavered a bit, looking rather ill. "I don't... feel so well..." Hikari moaned, grabbing her head. A familiar prying feeling overcame her, and she became confused once again, the moment of mental clarity gone. "ECCHRA... No... this is... wrong. There is... no way that someone like us... would be able to... have anyone... for a friend." The words were forced, but still held a hint of sadness. "ECCHRA... ECCHRA says that we're not friends... ECCHRA says you're trying to install into us... And want to hurt us like everyone else does. ECCHRA... says... you're no different than the others..." She trembled and stepped back, falling to the ground. "ECCHRA says... I must get away so you can't hurt us!" She stood weakly and scooted farther from Gannon, looking for an escape route. "It's so... dark here..."

User Image
"Dark? Did someone say dark?" A chipper voice spoke out of nowhere. "I can handle dark! The name's Solara!" She grinned mischievously. She turned to face Gannon. "So, lemme get this straight. This bozo's bugging you and you wanna run away but there's no light? Okay, done deal!"

"Umm... but I didn't say that..." Hikari said hesitantly.

"Teehee, you didn't have to, silly. I'm your creation from your very own mind!" Without wasting another moment, she turned on Gannon with a very scary expression on her otherwise adorable face. "Let my blinding light shine forth!" A bright light shot toward Gannon and lit up the entire world around him, the darkness around him gone.

Hikari took this oppurtunity to run away, disappearing into the trees of a nearby forest revealed in the light.

"Hey, that's not very nice," a sultry voice said. The light that should have hit Gannon reflected away. "Gannon is here to help little ole me, Solara. Why would you try to hurt my knight in shining armor?"

User Image
"Eh, Hikari? But Hikari just..." She stared at the trees the other version of her mistress had disappeared through and then back at the Hikari in front of her, the confusion apparent on her face. "You don't belong here. You should go back to where you came from now."

"Nope, I'm afraid not. There's no mind guardian here to protect him from your stupidity, or anything else Hikari might throw at him, and I really want him to reach my level. And so I've decided to fill the role of the Mind Guardian until he reaches my level." She turned and batted her eyes flirtatiously at Gannon. "Whattaya say? I remember you, even if she doesn't yet..." She winked at him seductively. Then, she turned serious. "If you're really here to help me, then I need to tell you this right now. I've been on this level for a while checking this place out. There is something... someone in this level of Hikari's Cosmosphere that is corrupting this level and the Hikari in it. Not only has it deleted her surface memories, but it is overriding her will and personality. If this keeps up, we're going to lose our sense of self here, and in the real world as well." She shrugged helplessly. "I know that we can't stop it because the source of it is coming from beyond the Boundary Gate. But if we could just push it out of this world and restore this Hikari to normal everything should be all right for a little while."

"I'll tag along, I have to gathers stuff as well. I'm also quite famish, haven't eaten since yesterday." As they walked out of the doctor's office he thought of something. "Let's get going." He said while waiting for her to take the lead since this is his first time exploring this place fully.

-NO MATCH FOUND-
User Image Rhaplanca stared dumbfounded at the search results. She scanned again.

-NO MATCH FOUND-

"What the?" she whispered as a default screen came up in the background, "No hymn code?" her face was twisted into confusion as she withdrew from the Binary Field. She resorted to dive into Hikari as well, but unlike Gannon she would not form a visible body inside Hikari's soul space. What appeared to be the Binary Field was accessible through Hikari's cosmosphere, or at least very similar to the point of identical. Here she performed another scan. A whole screen of information displayed about Hikari. It was almost like a hospital chart. Information about F.P.D. and Hikari poured through into Rhaplanca. This was a whole other server, the Fau Pira! Maps, schematics, everything on the construction of the Fau Pira overflowed into Rhaplanca. This was what they saw in Seraca floating in the sky. This is were all the F.P.D. minds were stored instead of in Ar Tonelico. A fury rose in Rhaplanca, the energy of her anger resonated throughout her own soul space, affecting Hikari's as well. The C.P.G., no humanity had done something unforgivable! She booted herself from Hikari's cosmosphere and returned to her own. She accessed the Binary Field again and searched for a possible connection to the Fau Pira. This... this world is what I'm trying so hard to save?! Only to have humanity abuse Reyvateils?! The searched yielded nothing, they were in fact separate servers altogether. Rhaplanca didn't understand. How can they have been transferred? Does the Goddess know of this...? Why should I save a world so full of sin? WHY SHOULD I SACRIFICE MYSELF FOR SOMEONE SO UNDESERVING?! And why did Rhemi...

Gannon… User Image

Gannon raised his arm to try and protect himself from the blinding light only, cursing letting Hikari run off. He was slightly surprised to have the magic blocked by someone else, however. He turned, stunned at the sight of a scantily clad Hikari. He quietly listened to the exchange between the new Hikari and nodded as she spoke to him. "Alright. Just tell me what I need to do to help you."

Solara sat there for a moment, listening intently to what Hikari said. "So, then there is something truly wrong. When I was summoned, all I wanted to do was protect Hikari, but... I guess I failed." She looked downcast.

User Image
"Not necessarily," she answered. "By lighting up the world, it'll make it easier for us to get around in here. And since you're a product of this level of the Cosmosphere, you naturally know everything there is to know about this place, right?"

(RED SONG MAGIC ACQUIRED: Blinding Solara)

The Song Magic brightened. "Yes, that's true. So then, let me help you. Let's leave Hikari alone for now. If what you've said is true about Hikari's memories being corrupted, then it won't do us any good to fix her until the problem that caused this in the first place is solved." She raised an arm and pointed. "All righty, off we go to the Boundary Gate! Through those woods, and past the house is where we'll find the Boundary Gate that connects to the Tower of Life! I'm certain that we'll find something." The ground beneath them suddenly trembled and Solara cried out. "Wh-what just happened?"

Hikari swayed for a moment but shook her head. "Nothing... just a strong... negative... feeling. Anger... resentment... but, it's not Hikari's..." Then, she tapped Solara on the shoulder. "Okay, we probably should go. That trembling is the least of our worries if things continue down this route."

"You're right, Mistress. My apologies." The Song lead the way into the thick forest. "Keep close behind me. If you get lost, you might just stay that way. You're not going to want to be trapped in this world forever, right?" She made her way quickly through the forest. She stopped them at a fork in the forest. One way was completely cleared of any extra brush and had an almost perfectly paved path. The other way was knitted with vines and thorns, promising a painful journey for any unfortunate travellers that dared make their way through there. She smirked. "Lucky for you we're taking the easy way." She continued down the paved path until they reached a house. "Let's keep going. No time to look into the past right now," she urged Hikari, who seemed to stop and gaze in wonder.

"I-I know that... it's just been a long time since I saw that house," Hikari said, pouting slightly.

Solara said nothing but continued leading the way until she stopped and finally announced, "Here we are! The Boundary Gate in all it's wonder and glory." She pointed to the giant gray metallic looking door in front of them. It was partially opened. "Since Hikari is an F.P.D. this door is always partially opened. It's left that way all the time," Solara explained to Gannon, although he didn't seem all that surprised. "But since her Boundary Gates are opened, Hikari and other F.P.D.'s make for easy targets to hackers and viruses."

There was a nearby growl and Hikari stepped forward. "So that's what's been causing all of this turmoil in here. I never expected to find the culprit so soon. Gannon, if we take that thing out, that should stop the corruption on this level. Then we'll be able to focus on fixing the problems left behind!"

The virus bubbled up from a black liquid into a solid form, the black dots surrounding it. It looked like an enormous spider. It hissed before attempting to retreat.

"W-wait! We can't let it get away!" Hikari cried. "If we do, he'll continue to destroy this place!"

Solara nodded in agreement. "Blind them with my light!" She cried and flung her magic at the monster. It roared with rage. "Uh-oh... L-look out everyone!" The little girl cried and hid behind Gannon and Hikari.

"H-hey, you're supposed to be helping me!" Hikari snapped. "Not using me as a meat shield! What gives!?"

The half-ling smiled gratefully at the man beside her. He hadn't left her alone, and they weren't going back to the dive shop. Those shops always had made her nervous, and right now she had to admit she was still pretty upset at Gannon. "I'm not sure. I've never been to this town before today myself. Why don't we look around together? I'm getting a little hungry myself," she said. She glanced back and forth as they walked in the small town until she gasped and pointed. "Hey, look at that! A cafe! Should we go in there?"

Gannon… User Image

"So, all I have ta do is kill it, right? Works for me!" With that, the Teru ran full speed at the giant arachnid. With a battle cry, he launched himself into the air, twin blades of ice forming in his hands. With a grunt of effort, Gannon drove one blade into the top of it's head, the other slashing at the connecting tissue behind the head segment, severing the head. Using his momentum, he kicked off the falling body, landing in a crouch on the ground near where he first started.

She stepped up behind Gannon, peering down at the remains of the virus and gasped when it began to dissipate. It disappeared into nothing, then and she gazed warily at the Boundary Gate. "There's nothing else here, I think. Thank you, Gannon."

User Image
"I'm a little worried," Solara admitted. "That one was easily defeated, but I also think that it's because this is only the first level of Hikari's Cosmosphere. Had we been in level 7 or 8, this little guy would have been close to immortal. I'm not sure if Hikari would have been able to recover from the infection... The only way we're going to keep those things out of here is by diving regularily. If we wait too long, one of that guy's big brothers will come for a visit and he'll likely be tougher, the higher the Cosmosphere level."

At this, Hikari turned to Gannon. "Of course, Hikari will start to feel the affects in the real world, so I'm sure that you'll notice when it's starting to happen." She looked away so he didn't see the embarrassment on her face. "So I guess it's up to you whether or not you wanna continue risking yourself in this place. I can promise some of it's not very pretty, even without a rampaging virus."

"Well, now we're going to have to find Hikari. Um..." She stared at Gannon. "Hikari is probably not going to like this... but... since her mind is corrupted, we're going to have to re-install backup data into her to completely fix her. Which means that... we're going to have to find the key, and you're going to have to install it into her," she finished, looking at Gannon uncertainly. "Have... have you ever done an install on a Reyvateil before? If you have, it might make it slightly easier. But that's only a tiny part of the battle. The other part is getting her to trust you enough to let you do it... That one could be a doozy. Especially since Hikari is terrified of installs and isn't exactly the most trusting person..." She stopped herself and nodded vigorously, trying to not discourage Gannon any further. "Oh, but I'm not saying you won't be able to! Um... just approach her with your honest feelings and it should turn out okay... I think? Uh, nevermind that! Lemme lead you to the place where the Re-Format Install Key is located!" Solara said, laughing nervously.

Suran Pel Orianu was walking out of the tavern towards the center of town holding a bottle of wine, he was drunk, sure but he had a right to be, the girl he'd been dating he found out was cheating on him, though Suran was not the extreme level drunk, more like he bought the hole bottle took a couple sips, and couldn't finish it. He saw the neighborhood dive shop was still running. The dive shop owner often liked to drink, so why not slip in and have a drinking partner. Two people were obviously more than enough to drink one bottle more so than by himself.

Who knows maybe he'd find a cute girl to drink with too. He grinned a bit as he thought about that for a moment, a kind of seductive smirk creeped its way onto his face. It was right around that time he noticed someone was following him, he decided to take the long way around towards the shop. He walked into an alley and ran around corners losing his stalker. Once he was cleared of the stalker he sat on the roof of a building watching him walk by confused because his 'prey' couldn't be located.

He climbed down the emergency latter and realized he lost his bottle during the chase. He shrugged it off, and checked his equipment, his extend-able trident lance was still on the center of his beltline on near his lower back. and underneath it was a pair of chakrams hidden in the appearance of one ring. He looked at the shop and sat back against the wall wondering what to do and why the shop was still open at this hour. His eyes turned and shifted a bit looking around at the surrounding area.
"hm, there's gotta be some cute girls around here somewhere."

Irika Stone

Well look who's late...

Irika walked into the dive shop, tools in hand to find that she didn't need to work on the machines after all. How dumb! If they were going to hire another mechanic, you'd think someone would have contacted her to tell her she wasn't needed. With a pout, Irika grinned and threw a wrench against the side of the Dive Machine which was currently in operation, giggling as she did so. It shouldn't interfere with them, just make a lot of noise. Damned reyvateils. Irika hoped they would get scared.

She headed outside after leaving the discarded wrench there and noticed a man standing out there who vaguely smelled like cheap beer. "If you're looking for a girl who's easy to score, I don't blame you. Aren't they all?" Another jibe at reyvateils and the freaks who submitted to Dive Therapy. Beyond that, she ignored him, not really wanting to deal with a drunk right now.Rather, if she couldn't douse herself in oil and other corrosive liquid, then she'd enjoy her other worldly pleasure. Food.

She noticed another mechanic girl walk into the room and didn't think anything of it until she chucked a wrench against the side of the machine. Immediately her gaze grew icy and she calmly followed the girl out of the shop. "Mind explainin' yourself about that, Missy?" She had her weapon hidden away... for now. But she had no beef with defending her friends.

Someone was there. Someone foreign had been searching around. She could feel it. As soon as she felt it she was searching for that person. Finally through the Binary Field of the Fau Pira, the intruder was located. "I am ECCHRA... why are you here? For what purpose are you searching through this place? What could you possibly hope to find, one who does not reside within Fau Pira?" She stood before the intruder, awaiting an answer.

He soon saw a girl in green go inside the shop, from where he was standing she was pretty cute, and soon she vanished for the time being. He waited around thinking to himself as he began to 'sober' up, 'hm that girl was actually pretty cute, she had tools with her meaning she's an engineer of sorts. They are usually brutish but maybe I can make her 'happy' enough to consider a second date.' He thought to himself as the girl came back out and a bit of a huff she seemed to be complaining like, she lost her job or something.

Which at the moment didn't seem to be in his mind yet, he was checking her out out from away he didn't even lower his eyes she had a cute face to boot. Before she looked his way, he exhaled into his hand and smelled liquor on it, Having done that he took out a potion from one of his hip bags, and took a swig, istantly refreshed him and cleared away that nasty bad breath. He looked at the girl precociously, when she said he was picking up chicks and that they were easy.

She seemed to see right through him for the moment but then he pushed himself off the wall, and walked over to the girl stopping next to her and placing his hand on his hip while looking at her, with a small grin which only was shown to one side,
"You look like you've had your fair troubles as well, not that I can blame you with how hard it is to get work recently, how about being my date to the nearby cafe, my treat?" He asked so bluntly, that it had its own charisma to it.
