I tried to get a Wii today. Wal-mart got a shipment of nine Wiis this morning. All along they'd been saying that they were going to have a lottery at 8 am so I show up to see if I could snag one. Here is what I and dozens of other pissed off people found out:

- nine guys showed up last night at around one am. Night manager told them they would get a Wii.
- nine guys wait all night and find out that the system is actually a lottery.
- nine guys get majorly pissed off and start to get ugly. People in back of line wonder why there appears to be large college boys yelling and looking like they're going to pop a blood vessel.
- store manager discovers that no, he in fact does NOT have a pair of balls, and lets the nine have the Wiis.
- store manager hides in office and sends out department manager to break the news and handle the hordes of pissed off people which included one very scary mother who I want to be like when I grow up. (she was awesome)
- nine boys slink out with their Wiis while avoiding eye contact, parents take their kids home to get them ready for school, and some very pissed off mothers get all the names of the people who are hiding in the back room so they'll know who to reference in their letters to the local newspaper.
- I go home with Sophie and pick up McDonalds breakfast on the way which makes things a bit better.

Yep. I'm going to wait until after Christmas now. 'sides, I go home soon and can just borrow my brother's, the lucky jerk.

Well. The day ended well at least. I went out on a date with a good-looking guy, we had dinner, went to a comedy club, and it was basically one of the best first dates I've ever had. He was funny, easy to talk to, smart, similar interests, and interesting. Then I had to touch on the topic of age cause I know I'm mistaken for being older than I am and I knew he was older than he looked... but dangit, 14 year age difference! This happened LAST time I found a guy that was really fun to be around too (and he even looked like Aragorn).

I don't know what to do anymore. I'm attracted to confident men and so far all the confident men that I've encountered and were interested in me in return were all in their thirties. Urgh...

I have the same problem, Kiddo... or I would, if I hadn't gotten lucky enough in high school to form a stable relationship that lasts even now. I've got it pretty bad for Hugo Weaving; even before he was V I was mentally casting him as Magus... he's more than twice my age, heh. Not to say that I would have pursued a celebrity (as if), I was just using him as an example of what tends to turn my head.

Well, he looks about 26 so it's more the personality that attracts me to older men. And I always think they're younger than they are and it's always a huge and unpleasant shock when I find out the truth.

I feel so awful though. My roomie and her boyfriend managed to ruin the entire date with a well-placed assumption: that I'm just desperate enough to settle because I'm incapable of finding a date within my own age group. Which leads naturally into the second assumption of there's something wrong with going out on a date with him. I think we should sell tickets: come see the loser who can't connect to people her own age!

I feel so damn lonely here. Jenru, can I come back to Minnesota and live in your attic?

If you like older guys why not just date them then?
I've never understood the problem when it comes to dating older men/women because if it's their personality you're attracted to then shouldn't it be fine?

There are a lot of problems with it...If Kiddo's 'relationships' are as deep as I'm going to assume she wants them to be, then there are several issues that huge age differences cause.

The most obvious is that people out of your own age group can't identify very well with the 'norm' of a different generation. They also die much sooner, have serious health problems much earlier...etc. etc. Its unfortunate but true...

Not to mention...the social stigma...

I am a nice chunk of years older than Mercy, but our relationship is wonderfull! Then again i am really immature for my age most of the time. xd
I used to care about age. I used to say I would never date a girl alot older or younger than me, but you know what? It really doesn't matter. All that matters is how you spend your time together. My girlfriend is the best and hardest thing that I have ever had in my life, and I love it that way. And listen, that stuff about dieing alot sooner, or being more suseptable to health problems. That is bogus. In the last 2 days, a 19 year old boy in Algeria was killed by police, and 106 year old WWI veteran passed away. No one knows when it's their time to go, so don't waste what time you have now.

As for the Wii. Dunno how it works everywhere else, but they are easy to get here. Call gamestop after 4 oclock on tues, wed and thurs. They will tell you if they got any in that day. If they did, they will be on sale the next morning. Come down and camp out. They get between 5 and 10 each week, so theres very little room for wasted time in terms of camping out and not getting one. I want one but I am saving my monies to spoil Mercy when she comes to visit in a couple weeks.
