Etsali hadn't given up on making the most tasty moon cakes yet either, but maybe she'd fallen into bad habits somewhere along the way instead of getting better. Her cakes always seemed to come out to about the same level of tastiness. Although she guessed sometimes they were more crunchy or mushy than others. Cooking was weird.

A third attempt. Third! Persistent and determined as usual, Elidae searched through the hay like a madwoman. No one found that darn needle yet, so of course she had to continue looking for it. Even as she moved around, she just couldn't spot a thing. Not even a button. Pouting only slightly, she decided she needed to move on to something different to avoid frustration. She would be back though!

Brimming with excitement, Elidae trotted over to the community pot once more, the delectable scent charming her sniffnode. So many trolls have already added to the simmering pot, putting forth their contributions to make it as tasty as if could be! Elidae decided to sacrifice a tarnip to throw in there- vegetables were definitely good in soup! Even at home, she dabbled around with recipes, especially with soups. Ladydad always liked slurping it up and praised her endlessly for her cooking, though he tended to eat things off the ground, so she supposed his opinion might be either biased or completely inapplicable.

∞ Ephias Sagine

Ephias continued to sift through the straw, now completely absorbed in his mission. He had no particular need to find the needle, nor did he especially want any of the prizes but... to put it frankly, he had no concept of “letting go”. All other mental processes had shut down. His whole being centred around locating the needle. He could not be at ease until he had found it.

Suddenly he froze. “Ah,” he mused. “Etsali would be much better at this.” Then, with a shrug he continued digging.

ツ Lutrin Weesil

As Lutrin snuffled through the hay, she caught a glimpse of a young troll through the straw. It looked like the other girl was... watching her?! Lutrin snuffled a little deeper. There was a chance she was just searching the hay through a less hands-on method, but there was also the possibility that she was observing Lutrin. As she wiggled around, she watched the other girl out of her peripheral vision. Sure enough, the girl eventually turned her head to follow her journey through the haystack. Eyes widening, Lutrin blew out her cheeks and wondered. Did she have a secret admirer? No, that would be silly. Maybe she had lost something.

Emerging from the haystack, Lutrin held one hand over her eye. A moment later she heard the other girl, a purpleblood, address her, asking if she had found anything. Lutrin gave a faint nod in reply. She turned her face towards the other troll. Something long and shiny gleamed between her fingers.

“The needle... It's...” she said, voice pained. “IN MY LOOKSTUB! AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!” She lashed back and forth, flailing and screaming. Then after about two seconds she stopped and peeked over at the purpleblood, smiling. “Ehehehe.”

Lowering her hand, she revealed that the long and shiny object lodged between her fingers was nothing more than a stubby piece of straw. “No needle,” she said, discarding the straw. “I did find this though!” With flourish, she pulled her other hand out from behind her back, offering Frossa a purple feather. “It's almost your colour! Isn't that funny?”

Ⅱ Autumn Vikare

Finally Autumn retrieved her stockings. They were soaking wet, and decidedly dirtier than before, but at least she had found them before they had been thoroughly cooked into the soup. Hopping down from the crate, she gave them a good twist. Warm broth spattered over the ground. She twisted them again, in the opposite direction and finished by shaking out any last remnants of moisture. Then she stowed them. Even though they were dry, they would not be suitable for wearing until she had soaked them in soapy water.

She glanced around for her lusus, eager to be gone. “Cat, let's... Cat?” He was no where in sight. No wait, there he... Autumn's face turned pale. “No!” she screamed, but it was too late. Caterpal gleefully chucked in a chunk of wool.

Kursha had no intention of staying long. He merely wanted to take a quick tour of the festival grounds to pass the time, and then head out again to rendezvous with his appointment. As he expected, there was little relevant to his interests. Most the games looked to be for wigglers—he gave a contemptuous eye roll at the needle in the haystack activity—and other activities were downright saccharine. It had not been a complete waste however. He had come to see the sights, and some had exceeded his expectations.

One in particular had especially piqued his interest.

Brushing off the booth owner, Kursha joined a elegantly clad troll at the counter. She was hemoanonymous—a curious choice for such a laidback atmosphere—with thick glasses carefully disguising the hue of her eyes. If anything the mystery just made her more alluring. Grabbing a lump of dough, Kursha rolled it out, feigning interest in the task of hand. After a moment, he addressed the hemoanonymous troll.

“That's quite an outfit for making mooncakes. I think you may have gotten some flour on your skirt there.” He gestured.
