The door to the broom closet, just off-stage, slowly creaked open. Just far enough out of sight so that the audience in the Clawditorium could not see, but those onstage could if they looked...

A small flag with "Go Rory" written on it stuck from the closet's interior and was given a twirl.

Gryff walked through the hall's of Monster High, now mostly empty, bored out of his mind. There was just too much going on and it was all too stupid, there was no way to properly make fun of it all. He glanced in the clawditorium where monsters were sitting down for a ridiculous mock-trial. There were plenty of seats left by the window, and he could see the football whizzing past the glass.

"Not the worst vantage point in the world," he muttered to himself as he pulled out his phone and walked over to sit down.

Mock-trial, everyone still dressed up in archaic backwards garb. Some ghoul thinks she's Scaroll Burnett #worstdrapes #toosadtobefunny

Ronan had zero interest in watching the football team practice, even if his dorm mate was on the team. He'd have much preferred to watch Hockey or something. At least Ice Hockey he understood the rules of. Football just confused him utterly. Lots of tackles and random standing around yelling HUT. What was that about? No, he had better things to do with his time.

Nor did he much care to watch the murk trial, big oil vs environmentalists was a rant he got enough of at home. His father worked for an oil and gas company after all, so anything about how big and bad the industry was tended to hit a little too close to home for his comfort.

Besides, he had other things occupying his mind right now.

He had to find something to wear for Thursday, the day he was having the most trouble with costume-wise. The idea of dressing as a girl was particularly unpalatable, but what could he do? At least everyone else would feel just as humiliated.

He didn't much like the idea of going shopping alone, it was just too embarrassing and he wasn't sure any of his female friends would have anything that would fit him.

He decided to head back to dorms, but half way there he remembered what Ascreama had said about Meme being sick.
Perhaps he should take her soup after all, soup made people feel better right?

Perry lined up with the rest of the team, quietly listening to Coach's rant about tactics and how humiliating it would be to lose their own tombcoming match.

Nodding at the appropriate points, he did his best not to just zone out. This was a lecture they got every game, with a minor variation and every time they all played as hard as they could anyway.

But the speech seemed to make Coach feel better so he patiently waited for the conclusion and a chance to just get on the pitch and practice.

Melody Nocturna

Roswell hadn't said much after lunch but when Melody and himself were alone he'd explained his feeling about Perry, and Melody explained that he was probably both hungry from not eating lunch and feeling a little jealous.

He gotten a chance to eat something so that did make him feel better, It was amazing what lack of food could do to him, triggering such a strong emotion at someone.

So as the happy couple sat in the stands for the game, Roswell cheered on the team. Yes ... Even Perry... But mostly Dashner.

"Do you need more popscorn? Or dogs on a stick?" Roswell had bought a ton of food, as he didn't want to run out and face another emotional outburst like he did at lunch. It would be better if he just eat it all.

The team was divided among two equal groups, and to Dashner's such 'great luck,' Manny was on the opposing team. He sighed and rolled his eyes, he was always tackled by Manny! He felt like one day his wings would just snap in half from the impact. He was on the same team as Perry, fortunately. He gave Perry a silent nod.

"Hawke! Did you listen?!" Igor boomed.

"Yes sir!" Dashner replied.

At that moment, the coach blew the whistle for the game to begin!

Gryff glanced out the window at the football field, noticing a sudden increase in feathered players.

Team is now mostly chickens. At least they're free range. Better keep them hydrated or they'll turn extra crispy #footballisawful

"MASH 'IM, MANNY! TURN 'IM INTO A GREASY SPOT ON THE-" Draconia suddenly became acutely aware that she was standing on the bleachers, shouting at the top of her lungs. She paused, delicately sat down, and smoothed her skirt.

"Ahem. I mean....Go team! Yay, Nightmares!"

Draconia paused, and then shot up an index claw in the air and circled it around. She wished she was as small as Glen.

Meanwhile, on the field, Clawd was barking instructions to his half of the team while Deuce directed his. Deuce's side had the ball and everyone got into position....

As Mr. Where finished his instructions for the Murk Trial, Rory took a deep breath, closed his eyes and swallowed the vial Marceline gave him, forgetting completely about any sort of instructions or warnings. He smacked his lips a bit...it tasted like minty-rotton-candy.

Rory opened his eyes. The anti-hiss-timine passed the first test; he didn't go blind. Rochelle cleared her throat beside him.

"Pardonez-Moi, Rorrim, but you should give our opening statement now. As the defendant, it is within protocol for us to go now that Venus has finished the plaintiff's opening statement."

"Oh, right. Okay."

"And be sure that you follow the notes I typed up, especially the bullet points I annotated at the bottom."

"Yes, thank you." Rochelle took Murk Trial as seriously as an actual trial. Rory cleared his throat, hoped his voice wouldn't crack, and stood up to give their opening statement.

"Ladies and gentleman of the court. Judge Where." Rory nodded his head towards the gallery and the judge. "On January 23, 1984, our client, Mr. Blllarrrg, a Big Oil Monster, visited Loch Ness. When he arrived at the resort, he was assured that all of his needs would be attended to, and was given no additional warnings regarding his nature as a giant, sentient pile of oil and goo. During his stay at the resort, Mr. Blllarrg availed himself of the resort's hot tub service, like many other clients. Unknown to him at the time, the temperature of their hot tub exceeded his melting point, and he was pulled down the drain into the lake. Eventually, he was able to pull himself together, but now the monsters that live in Loch Ness are pursuing legal action saying that his oil slick damaged tourism and scared off local wildlife.

Although my client is sympathetic to the chaos a thick layer of living oil can cause to a body of water, he maintains that he simply wasn't informed ahead of time of the dangers the resort hot tub held for him, and that he made his best goodwill effort to collect himself and un-grime the lake as quickly as he could. He seeks to have this case summarily dismissed."

Rory looked over at Rochelle, who gave him an approving nod. He looked over at Venus, who was listening dispassionately, clearly mentally working on her first move. He peeked out into the gallery and tried to hide a smile when his eyes passed over Marceline.

Then he yawned.

"I'm open!"

Chase called and Deuce sent the football flying and Chase actually leapt up and over Bram Davein and two other players who lined up to cut him off, catching the football before he landed behind them.

Glen jumped up, much like his Drakie, and hollered at the top of his lungs;

"GO CHASE! THAT'S MY MANSTER!" Right before Draconia pulled him back down for flinging his snacks everywhere in his hexcitement!

"I got him!" Heath Burns yelled and he made the ridiculous attempt to try and tackle Chase, but in the ensuing bumps and trips, Heath got flipped up and onto Chase's back and the centaur immediately started bucking in annoyance.

"Yo, dude! Not cool!"

And with one particularly strong buck, Heath was sent hurdling off of Chase and rocketing into the air... Glen and Draconia's heads arched up and over, much like many in the stands...

Glen turned to Draconia.

"Did that count as a field goal?"

Gryff nearly fell out of is seat as Heath Burns smacked into the window next to him. Heath slowly slide down, his face mushed up against the glass with a dazed expression.

After a massive sugar rush from a mountain of chocolate an a good cry from Jewels, Bridget and Tori decided to give their best advice.

"Tell Kia, how you feel and don't let anything get in the way! Emotions of passion should never be hushed." Tori suggested Jewels let her feeling be known and free!

"That's not too good an idea... after all there is Demona to think about. His ghoul friend was away for quite some time. But his feelings are still there." Bridgette reminded Tori and Jewels. And the conversation went back and forth. The ghould still don't know what Jewels would do.

For now they decided that they could watch something to calm their nerves, so they sat at the trial, and supposed their friends. Tori had a feeling Jewels was avoiding Kai at the moment.

The momentary distraction of Heath's marvellous attempt at flight gave Perry the chance he needed. Ducking past several players he rushed headlong at the centaur.
Unfortunately he didn't notice Manny charging to intercept till it was too late. The minotaur ploughed straight into him from the left and both boos rolled, landing in a heap in the grass.

Perry groaned, momentarily winded.

"Get off me."

He shoved Manny and struggled to his feet.
Coach Igor yelled something about working on his awareness, he sighed and jogged back into position.

Jewels was glad for the distraction, nestled comfortably between her two troll friends while they argued with one another over what she should do about her boo problem. She just tuned it out, she didn't much want to think about Demona or Kai or how he'd soon inevitably stop even talking to her because he'd be so busy with his ghoulfriend.
She was convinced of this, and no amount of reason could tell her otherwise. Stupid Demona, stupid grrmany. She huffed and tried to focus on the trial.

"Thank you..." She murmured to the two ghouls, as they fell silent to listen to the arguments as well. "You're good friends."

"-CLEARLY posted up above the check-in that monsters with unusual needs should check with the staff before using the facilities!" Venus slammed her hands on her table for emphasis, making Twyla next to her jump as she finished her first argument. She was very riled up.

For Rory's part, he was feeling...sleepy. Rochelle hadn't noticed yet, as she was fervently taking notes about Venus's speech, but Rory was stifling yawn after yawn. Why was he so tired? Suddenly, Mr. Where was speaking, and Rory realized it was his turn to speak. Rory pulled himself to his feet.

"If it pleases the court, we would like to call our first witness...Mr. Blllargg himself!" Rory pointed at Slo Mo Mortevitch, who would be playing the role of the giant oil monster. Slo Mo stood up and lumbered to the witness stand.

"Mr. Blllargg, do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you glob?" Iris Clops, acting as the bailiff, swore Slo Mo in, who moaned in the affirmative. Rory circled around to address Slo Mo.

"Mr. Blllargg, in your own words, can you describe the situation regarding your check-in at the Loch Ness Resort?"

"Uuuggggghhhhh uggghhhhhhgggh. Hhnrrrrgggggghhhh hhhggggnnnnggghhh."

"I see, and what else did the manager on duty tell you?"

"Uuugrnnnrrrrrrgggghhh."

Rory turned to the judge.

"No further questions your-wait. Is that a hand?!"

Mr. Where (presumably) raised an eyebrow.

"'Is that a hand' is not really a relevant question to this case, Mr Bludworth."

"No! I mean, right there! Extra hand!" Rory pointed next to Mr. Where's gavel, and yes, indeed, there was an extra mint-green hand chilling there. The hand seemed to be tapping its fingers impatiently, as if waiting for something.

Suddenly, the doors to the Clawditorium burst open, and Frankie Stein poked her head in.

"Sorry! SO sorry to interrupt, but has anyone seen my-Oh! There it is!" Dressed in her fearleading outfit, Frankie jogged up the aisle to retrieve her missing hand. "I am SO sorry about that. I was in a rush to get ready for Fear Squad practice - you know we're getting ready for Friday's pep rally and we're going to see if we can fill up the Fear O Meter, and I just suddenly realized that I was missing a hand! And you can't really do most of the routine Cleo's developed with only one hand, so I had to run around and look for it, even though it's going to make me late, and Cleo's going to yell at me, but I know she only yells because she cares SO much and has so much ghoul spir...it...."

Frankie trailed off as the setting around her finally sunk in. She started biting one recently-reattached nail.

"So...I'd better get going....uh....bye! Go Monster High Nightmares!"

Frankie backed down the aisle and carefully closed the Clawditorium doors behind her. Rochelle sighed. Rory snored. Rochelle elbowed him.

"Yipe! I mean...no further questions, Judge Where."
