I don't get why some people can't just stand up to their parents. Especially when they're 18 or older.

He's really close to his mom. Plus there is also the idea he has got in his head that he has no time.

I can understand that. My brother's the same way. He's 20 now but for the longest time my parents would baby him and treat him like a child. I finally got so tired of him complaining about it to me that I slapped (not literally) some sense into him and my parents. Because he just let them walk all over him. They still treat him like he's completely irresponsible, but it's not as bad as it was before.
Maybe it's just me... I'm really independant. I never asked for my freedom, I demanded it. And I got it, surprisingly, at 16 (almost 19 now). While my 20 year old brother is still treated like he's 12. I just don't get why some people let their parents walk all over them. I know that parents are just trying to keep their kids safe and whatnot, but there's a point where it's just too much, you know?

Yea, I know. My parents won't even let me get a ride home from him. Even though it would be really convenient because he lives just down the street. My parents think I think they are stupid or something. The truth is nothing would happen, he wouldn't let it.

My parents use to have the whole "you can't ride in a car if a teenager's driving and you can't have anyone else in the car when you're driving" rule... until I did it anyway. Then they gave up on that one.

He gave me a ride home and then I asked. Shows how much good it did them to forbid it. My asking was more of a 'should you know what I did?' more than a 'I really want your decision on this issue.' They would have no problem if he were a girl. They even said the word rape. What makes girls so much more trustworthy than boys. Most of my friends are boys. I have the ability to judge whether I trust a guy enough to ride in the car with him.

I remember when I went the mall with one a guy once (was my boyfriend at the time) and some of his friends. Well, when my dad dropped me off it was just him and his two guy friends... the girls hadn't gotten there yet. So my dad just thought I was hanging out with just the guys that day.
So he went home and told my mom. Unfortunetly for me, I had an irregular period that day (like one week after I had already had my period), so I freaked out and had my parents take me to the ER just to make sure everything was ok, right? My mom is still convinced that I was raped by at least one of them that day (and that was 2 years ago), when I wasn't. Even though the doctor said it was just from stress.

Wow that's horrible. Must have been embarrasing too. The worst part is they have never even met him. So they are judging his character on the 18-year-old populace. They don't trust me to make a character judgment. The problem is I respect his judgment too much to do anything against it. At least for now anyway.

You, actually. But it doesn't matter. There was a miscalculation. Now, the error has been corrected. And I will be better for it. -LD

Going back to last ae when Drew said that he thought high school was the best time to experiment...
I wasn't ready to date at 16. It's different for everyone, so don't just assume that what you believe is always correct. I was immature and easily swayed, so dating would have been a very bad idea.

Don't you think that maybe dating then would have taught you how to react better in future relationships?
Look. I'm not interested in a fight. (Just wrote a rather heated email to an elder at my old church.) But I meant what I said--high school is a good time to see what works for you, and what doesn't. Would you prefer a *most people* stuck in there? -LD

Arrow Slingzen Ender's Game! ENDER'S GAAAAAAAAAME! I replied first so you have to read mine. Ender's Game is the best book ever. You MUST read it. Now go get it! picked up a copy the other day, haven't found much time to read it. I'm taking a small leave from Gaia and the internet for a while, just burned with all going on, i'm working almost full time while being a full time college student, had a f'ng bad day at work today so i'm really stressing out right now. Found out that my grandpa that hasn't been doing too good is getting worst so now I have that on my mind too. I just need a small break to clear my mind a bit, relax when I can find the time and what not. So i'll see you around my friends... later.
