Tsurabisu shook his head as he retracted his bloody blades and sealed Hoshokusha. "Guess he couldn't release his Zanpakuto even to save his life. Can't say I didn't try." Tsu turned in the direction that the fourth squad's Lieutenant was sitting and gave her a grin. He had known that she was watching for a little while, but was too busy trying to get Haru to actually take the fight seriously. "So, should we leave him like this?"

Hikari stared dumbfounded for a moment, her face blank as she was trying to process all that had gone on. She leapt to her feet and pushed past Tsu, but not before giving him a death-promising glare. "How could you let loose on a student like that?! 4th seat Maruchinu-san, that was incredibly reckless and irresponsible! And don't give me any excuses about you not using your full strength, or that you hadn't intended for him to die... or even that you're his instructor and I have no say in the matter. I am the one who has to treat this poor child in the end!" She was ranting on and on as she was checking his vitals and administering her healing kido. When Hikari was about halfway through healing the boy, she had fallen silent. She'd realized that for the first time, she'd completely lost her temper with Tsurabisu. She shouldn't have, either, but for some reason, she had these feelings of confusion, frustration, and anxiety toward him, and they'd been fueled by the normally small sparks of anger that she felt when he hurt someone or got hurt himself. This time, it appeared, the anger wouldn't be soothed and she ended up exploding. She focused on treating Haru for the remainder of the time, not trusting herself to speak another word. Once she felt that she'd stabilized him, she relaxed a bit, taking in a deep breath, then stood. "I think it best that he rest in the infirmary," she said coolly. "If he stays there for the night, his injuries may heal up enough for him to participate tomorrow, that is only if he is able to rest."

Tsu listened to Hikari's rant quietly, knowing that it was best to let her finish before saying anything. He glanced down at the unconscious student and shook his head. It wasn't like the wound was that bad. He'd purposely missed the nerve bundles and arteries in the shoulder. "Infirmary, huh? Alright." He bent down and picked Haru up, tossing the kid over his shoulder, none to gentle. He knew it would get a reaction out of his childhood friend. "Ya know, at least I got ya to drop all that formal talk."

Hikari's eyebrows twitched in annoyance at the action. He was purposely provoking her by using that poor student? Well, it wasn't going to work. She strode on ahead. "I should have just stayed behind and worked on my paperwork," she grumbled to herself.

"And miss out on all the fun? 'Sides, I already said I'd help you with your work, remember?" It felt like years ago, even though it had only been several days. He couldn't help but remember how he sent Matsumoto to Kurotsuchi's. Good times... Soon, squad four's barracks and the Infirmary were in sight. "Well, so much for his training... Guess he just won't have his Shikai tomorrow. And here I had planned on having him paired with Datto and Sora. Now I gotta rethink this..."
Though he knew full well what he was going to do, he was trying to pry some kind of response from Hikari. She had at least started to speak to him, now maybe something would change.

"That wasn't fun," she whispered. "Unless you've forgotten or just don't care," she looked away, "you should know by now that I hate watching you hurt others, almost as much as you being hurt yourself." She was silent for a moment before deciding to drop the topic. "As far as the students go, it seems that you'll just have to pay extra special attention to this one when he goes. The other two, have at least achieved shikai right? As long as they stay together, and don't stray too far from the rest, they should be all right." She spoke softly but matter-of-factly, and almost seemed to have taken the tone of a lecturing professor. "Here, we've arrived. If you would, please carry him this way." She lead the way down the hallway. Really, she didn't have to; she figured that he knew his own way with how many times not too long ago she would drag him there. Still, he knew that she normally directed people and she didn't want him to question her avoiding him, even if that was what Hikari was trying to do.

Instead of following Hikari, like she had asked, Tsu moved to walk at her side, still carrying the unconscious Haru over his shoulder. Ignoring her tone of voice, he continued carrying on the conversation.
"Only problem is there are still a lot of them who haven't attained Shikai yet. Dunno what's goin' on. Back when we were graduating, probably two thirds of the class was able to release. Now only a handful? It just doesn't seem right if ya ask me. Oh, hey. I almost forgot. Did ya ever give that back to Rangiku?"

"Yes." Shaking her head for a moment at the thought of the lieutenant, Hikari sighed. "Of course I would give it back to her. Besides, just because she made a fool out of me doesn't mean that I'm going to hold it against her. She didn't mean to do that. Oh, and by the way. Anything I've said over the past few days to you...? Ignore it, okay? I've been under a lot of pressure, and... well, you know... Just don't pay me any mind. I think the only way that things could go worse for me is if I managed to scare my childhood friend away!" She smiled a tiny bit at her joke, attempting to lighten her mood. Lying again... oh well.

"Don't worry," Tsu said, grinning again. "After all this time, I know what to listen to and what to ignore." It was a very open ended comment, and he had no intention of clarifying. He remembered everything that had happened inside Hikari's Soul Space. "And, hey. If the kid's gonna be in your division's care for a while, maybe that'll actually give us a chance to talk. I mean, it's not like we'll really have the chance now that I got this ball n' chain." He shifted his burden on his shoulder a bit to indicate Haru.

"Hm...? Well, someone needs to watch over this child..."

"That someone is right behind you, Hikari-fukutaicho."

The girl jumped and turned around. "Unohana-taicho?"

"Have you forgotten who you were covering for to watch over the infirmary? You've been doing paperwork all this time! I think I can handle one more patient. It'd be best for you to spend some time as this boy is asking. Who knows when you two will get the chance again?"

"O-oh. Okay..." Hikari turned to Tsu and nodded. "Then, yes, I can go, if that's all right with you."

"Well, it was my idea, so I'm sure that it's alright with me. Heh." Tsu turned to the Fourth division's Captain. "And thanks, Un... Ahem," Tsu cleared his throat. "Captain Unohana." The fourth seat made sure that his shadow was admitted and under care before heading for the exit. "Probably be best if I was back before he woke up. Stealth force is probably watchin' him and all..."

"Earlier...? Forget about it." Hikari wasn't normally this straightforward, but she figured that he was too smart for her to lead him off the topic at hand. "Look, I was confused for awhile, but I know now what can and can't happen, and I've accepted it. So why are you trying to approach me with this?" Her voice wavered a bit, and her bangs hid her eyes, but a blush was visible on her cheeks.

"No, Hikari. I'm not going to simply forget about what happened." Tsu came to a stop and shook his head slightly. "And, while you may have been confused, as you said. I trust that you're not anymore. I remember what happened back there in your Soul Space. And..." Tsu paused for a moment to collect his thoughts. There was a lot he had to say, but letting it come out all at once was probably not the way to go.
"Look, I owe you an apology. We've supposedly been friends pretty much all of our lives, but I didn't do my job. I let you go on suffering like this for all these years. How can I call myself your friend? I've hurt you deeply, both sides of you. And I'll do whatever it takes to make up for that."
Tsu's eyes seemed fixed on a point in the sky, not looking at her directly as he spoke. After all, what right did he have? He'd let her down, big time.

"If I have to, I'll spend the rest of my life making this up to you. No matter how long it takes, I'll work to make up for not only the pain I've caused you, but the pain inside that both sides of you have been living with all this time."

The blue haired Soul Reaper finally met Hikari's eyes. "Both of you said you wanted me by your side forever. You said you loved me." He reached out and gently set a hand on his childhood friend's shoulder. "If you'll allow it, I will stay at your side forever. I love you, too, Hikari. Not just one side or the other, but you as a whole."
